Went in for a last minute haircut. Not only are their stray hairs all over that the stylist missed, but she felt the need to cut my eyebrows and she only cut 1 because she said she saw a long hair but when I got home in different lighting I could see she trimmed half down to nothing and it looks terrible as she left the other untouched. It's been a day and already 2 different people have asked me if I burned off my eyebrow. Not worth the money, and wish I hadn't tipped. Won't be back. Read Less

First off, I hope the owners of this salon in Oak Creek are aware of what a gem they have in Kimberly. I first met her a few weeks ago for a cut, which was absolutely perfect. This evening I had my hair colored and once again, she knocked it out of the park. Kimberly is not only a very skilled and knowledgeable stylist but a very warm, attentive and personable lady. My advice is, if you have thick hair, go elsewhere. If you have thin hair, this place is for you. The reason why I am giving Roots two stars is because I had absolutely no problem with the customer service there. I appreciated the tour of the salon and the friendliness of the staff. It is very clean, and the stylists were so friendly! Time for my cut, the stylist and I talked for a minute and discussed what I wanted (shoulder length, with tips touching the shoulder and layers, with a small "V' in the back) and showed a picture quickly because after my explanation, "she got it". We started talking about the products she used on my hair and then, time for the cut. She cut my hair here and there, and then started blow drying my hair. At that time her next appointment had walked in through the door, and she asked her assistant to wash her next appointments hair. After she was half way done blow drying my hair, she proceeded to use the blade and thin out my hair (which I don’t mind since I have thick and curly hair, I appreciated the thinning). After my hair was dried, I asked her to cut a half inch more since it was longer than what I wanted. That request went right out the door because the assistant was done washing her next appointments hair, so she just showed me the products she used and done, I bought two of the products she suggested, I paid and left. I went home, styled my hair the way I normally do, the hair was way past my shoulder, the front was uneven; I had no layers, instead it kind of looked chopped. I am a picky man when it comes to my hair. The check in process was clunky. I had to answer a dozen questions...frustrating the first time, but when I cam back for my appointment I got answer them all over again. The stylist was nice and personable. I'm not there for the chat though. I feel she was somewhat at a loss on what to do with my hair. The finished product was ok. But not the best cut by far. She made a half attempt to style my hair at the end. Came up miserably short and made me feel a little awkward. As I am looking at my hair and trying to figure out what kind of style she was trying to fix me up with....she asked if I needed anything else. I said nope and stood up and went to pay. She mentioned a few shampoos and conditioners during the cut I would have been interested in, but no mention of those as I was ready to pay. At checkin, she asked how I had heard of them. I mentioned my wife has been in before and she said in that case, I get half off. I had no idea what full price was so half off was cool. To make things more uncomfortable, I have to say my tip amount outloud. No writing it. I have to say it. Not cool. I left a decent tip and left. After telling my wife about the experience and my "ok" cut she asked how much it was. We look at it was $27. Assumption is the cut must regularly priced at $54. Lol. We aren't in NY or LA so that seemed a little much. Checked the website and it was $27. Oh well. No half price, ok cut, and awkward experience. My first time here and already not impressed. Appointment is at 10 am I show up on time , now it's 10:12 still waiting. Front desk to loud , pretty girl with black hair really loud I couldn't hear girl that was helping me at all . I have seen Mayra twice at Roots Salon in Oak Creek and both times, I've been very happy. She is sweet, friendly, helpful, and great at what she does.Mayra has cut, dyed, and foiled my hair and I love my new style. I get tons of compliments and I keep telling my friends and family to go here. I already have my 3rd appointment set up! I think the prices are good, people sometimes don't understand that you get what you pay for. My most recent visit was $120 (not including tip) and she touched up my roots, foiled my hair for a baylage look (7 foils for $25), used a toner, and cut & styled my hair. I've had the privilege of being helped by a few of their team members and all of them were friendly and attentive and really made sure my needs were met and that my experience was a satisfying one. I'll admit that it's been almost 4 months since I've been here and I do need to go back for some touch ups. The price is keeping me away. Services are reasonably marked but in the past I've never spent more than $30 on a cut so my budget was super blown with an awesome color and cut last October. I will be coming back!I had decided in October to take a huge leap, with some gentle prodding from a coworker, and try highlights and a new cut. It was a scary thought not unlike getting a cavity filled at the dentist. My whole life I've been warned against it by my mother who insisted hair dye would make my hair fall out. I knew that was untrue... probably, but it was enough to scar me for a long time. So I called to book an appointment and went in to meet with Natalie. She turned out to be the best stylist ever. She's a level 2, not that I know what that is, but she gets an A++ in my book.Natalie was very honest with me and straightforward about what she could do with my price point. Before even touching my hair I had explained to her my budget and shown her a few photos of my dream 'do and went from there. Between what I wanted and what I could afford, she came up with a really great compromise that she swore I'd like, even though we both knew it wouldn't be exactly what I was going for. What I loved most about Natalie is that she put up with all my questions and incessant rambling about being afraid my hair would fall out or turn blue or something. Since my whole process took about 3 or so hours, I feel maybe I still owe her a cookie bouquet for her patience. To her credit, she is very well versed in all she does. We discussed how dye reacts to different types of hair, why some shampoos aren't all that great, how a flat iron can be used to curl hair(what?!) and more. I learned a lot.The rest of the staff was very attentive and brought me water, offered to get magazines while I waited and at one point I received a hand massage which really was comfortable and relaxing. I doubt they only did all that because I was a new client, but I enjoyed it either way. I was given a discount coupon for future visits at checkout and then won a gift card towards any services or merchandise. Really nice girls that did my nail and hair cut services, both had a terrible outcome.  My hair curt is noticeably totally uneven and my shellac manicure quite literally is the worst mani I've ever had.  Hate leaving bad reviews when both girls were so nice, but it would be irresponsible of me to not say anything.  Going to a different salon to redo And pay a second time for both services because I don't trust calling and complaining with ultimately getting worse results than I've already had to deal with Read Less

Had the best experience at Roots Salon in Oak Creek yesterday. Sarah did my hair and she always does a fabulous job. The ladies at the front desk during check-in and checkout were so sweet!! (Kori and the woman who checked me out.. her name started with a C! I wish I could remember) They were friendly and welcoming. The inside is spacious and clean. I love the open concept with the windows to let the natural light in. So nice to have a lovely salon like this one in my area. I had a shellac manicure done here by Savannah. She was so sweet and lovely, did a fantastic job, and did not rush taking off the gel polish I already had on. She gave it time to soak off so we didn't damage or chip my natural nails, which I really appreciated. Their website is great as it lists all of their stylists, plus a summary about them and their credential, so you know that they are certified and know exactly what they are doing. Ladies, don't we all dream of a stylist that looks at you and says, "you are gorgeous, here are your strong features and I want to accentuate them with a cut that can be versatile and beautiful for you." Yes, yes it is something we want and ladies, I cannot recommend Kimberly enough. Seriously. I have been looking for a stylist for years now that would take the time to look at what my strong facial features are and create a style that accentuates them and makes me feel great, and Kimberly is that stylist. I don't think I will be letting anyone else touch my hair for a very long time. I went for a big change in style too, my hair went from being able to have a ballerina bun on top of my head, to barely being able to pull it back at all, we cut A LOT of hair off. But I am absolutely in love with the cut and style, Kimberly did an incredible job, it's like she knew exactly what I wanted and needed in a new cut/style without me having to show a million pictures of what I did and did not want. I will post a before after photo soon to show the change. The entire salon is really great, the atmosphere is lovely and everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful, there are also a ton of offers and deals to be had on product. The staff is knowledgable on what is going to be the best for your styling needs, which is always a nice touch. I don't think I can say enough good things about my experience at Roots, if you are looking to get our hair done, go to Roots and go see Kimberly, you will not regret it. Also, want $15 off?
