I had a haircut and highlight with Meghan. She understood what I wanted and not only did a beautiful job of giving me the highlights I wanted, but worked fast and efficiently.  Even when I rose that I wasn't getting quite as much blonde as I'd wanted, she had no trouble scheduling another appointment to fix the (already gorgeous) job to meet my expectations.  I was impressed by the eye, talent and professionalism Meghan showed and feel the salon provided very reasonable value.  I'm so impressed by Meghan and Aniu. Disappointed. Pedicure: They have bench style pedicure seats they don't adequately support your back or legs. Immediately after getting up I realized by back was not going to be happy. They next day I was so sore. For an upscale salon you think they would have more comfortable seating. Also, the next day one of my nails had already chipped. Massage: Although the masseuse was great the experience was not. The room is right next to the stations for manicures and pedicures. I could hear the conversations next to me the whole time. When you exit the room you are shocked with the bright lights and busy salon. There is nothing relaxing about this experience.  Hair: I have only gotten my hair cut at Aniu. Each of my experiences were very different. The few times I went during busy times I was ready to get out of there sue to noise, it seems to really travel. Most recently I went during one of their less busy times and was pleasantly surprised. There were only a couple other people there and the noise did not seem to be a factor. Conversation with my stylist (a new one to me) was good and not forced and I liked my hair cut. I didn't love how she styled it, but that is pretty typical for me. Read Less

Love this high-end, full-service salon! I have my hair cut and colored every 5 weeks with Winona and she's amazing. I like to switch up my style from time to time and she's always on board to try new looks. She has a keen understanding of color and how age and seasons influence the need to keep tweaking the details. The environment at Aniu is relaxing, modern, and fun. I love watching the stylists work because they each have their own style. I also use the salon's Kerastase hair products and Eminence facial moisturizers and feel they are of high quality and useful. i was recently diagnosed with cancer and was concerned about losing my hair. i met with gina, a girl who was supposed to help me with discussing my options for a volumizer hairpiece or a wig. she tried to explain to me the difference between the two, but it was taking me a little bit of time to understand. one was a purchase of over $2,000 with maintenance, the other about $300. i needed to take my time and ask questions, which i did. she interpreted my asking questions as being argumentative, which wasnt even remotely true. i just needed to understand it all better. i am 65 years old. i;m losing my hair. i thought i would be helped. instead, she grabbed the wig and threw it in a closet and yelled at me, then stormed off. i just sat there, shaking. the manager came over to me and apologized and indicated that they've had problems with gina's attitude before. it was the single worse salon experience of my life. i had been so excited to come to this appt. today. i left emotionally shattered. something's very wrong with this gina girl. Had my second facial with Barb today.  She does an amazing job.  I am 60 and went for the age management facial and it was probably one of the best facials I've ever had.  She takes the time to give great arm, hand head and neck massge.  She didn't scrimp at all on the massage which to me is the best part and the products she used are fresh and delightful.  I'll be back! *Note that this review is for manicure/ pedicure services only.I've had two manicures here, about three years apart, and both were pretty lousy. I don't remember many details about the previous service as it was the weekend of my brother's wedding, so mostly a blur. I do remember that the manicure didn't last long and I already had chips by the end of the weekend.This manicure was, unfortunately, the same. I got it at 2pm on Saturday. By mid-morning on Sunday, one of my nails and chipped and most the polish was starting to wear, exposing the tips of my nails. My nails are VERY short right now as many have broken, so it's not even like I have long nails that are getting in the way. I'm not super rough on my hands, but I did wash them a lot on Sunday. By mid-morning on Monday, at the time of writing this review, 5 of my nails are chipped and not just at the tips. In addition to the chipping polish, my cuticles are still really ragged and messy.The pedicure was great - relaxing and thorough. I liked the massage chair, the leg "mask" and scrub. I would definitely go back for another pedicure, but I won't get another manicure here. It's definitely not worth the money. Read Less

Billie is absolutely incredible at what she does! Balayage (hair painting) is her specialty, but she can do it all. Billie listens, offers suggestions, and executes perfectly every time. I can go 6 months without a touch up, and get tons of compliments on my hair. I drive from Chicago to see her, because she is THAT GOOD. I was excited to try this salon as it has been rated the best in Madison and I received recommendations from two trusted friends.  I read reviews, indicating they had a friendly staff, ,quality service, reasonable prices and a great facility.  What more could you want in a salon.  The staff was friendly and I like the Balayage color concept, but It didn't turn out quite as I was hoping.  I understand it takes some time to get a new clients hair perfect so I will give them another chance.  I will caution you, that I went in expecting to pay $145 and was charged $220 without being informed.  As I color my hair often it was damaged, the stylist recommended a conditioning treatment, which she informed me was an extra $25, I agreed, expecting the service to be $170.  When I got out, it was, $220, apparently she used a glaze that was an additional $15 and offered a blow dry (not even a style) that was an extra $35.  I was in workout clothes and going to the gym, I would have never paid $35 for a blow dry.  And I would never pay $35 for a blow dry that wasn't a style.  Bottom line, I wasn't informed about an additional $50 in charges and felt somewhat taken advantage of.  I did inform the manager of my mis-understanding.  In addition, I found the operations and to be dysfunctional, run down and down right dirty.  I made a 7:45am appointment, I got a confirmation that my appointment was at 7:30, I rushed to get there only to find out that they system malfunctioned and I had to wait 15 minutes for my appointment to begin.  When I walked in, there was blank wall that looked like a water feature, with no water, and scaly calcium deposits on the wall.   The white walls were terribly dirty.  The website mentioned a relaxation area, I saw one area with dirt stained sofa backs and some magazines. I was left in my chair to process.  When I sat in the cut/color chair, there was no place to put my purse/bag except the floor, which had hair on it.  And finally, there were construction workers on ladders changing lightbulbs.  Again, not a big issue if it was a mom and pop small business that charged reasonable rates but to pay $220 for a hair color, I would like to walk into a beautiful clean facility and walk out with great looking hair.  Not just dry hair with and ok color.  They did deliver on the friendly staff piece, all the people I interacted with were kind and friendly.  I will try them again, in hopes that I just got them on a bad day and hope that they will paint their walls and clean the floors. Wanted Balayage hairstyle, instagramed It and found Harlow. She was truly wonderful and listened to everything that I was saying. My hair not only is incredibly soft but exactly what I wanted. Oh and when you get your hair washed you get a foot rest, you don't think it matters but believe me it's nice. I would recommend Harlow to anyone. Read Less

Hands down best place to get a facial or a haircut. I've never felt more relaxed in either scenario. The only slightly negative experience I've had here is when they were going through construction -- but hey, it's hard to create a serene environment when the walls are coming down around you. Rebecca is my stylist and I must say... She's the best! I held out stubbornly to get a hair trim or my routine summer bob cut after moving from L.A. And away from my stylist of 10+ years. She did an excellent job at considering what I wanted and the addition to her skills and attention to detail created the perfect experience and cut for me. My experience at ANiU didn't come under the best of circumstances - I had gotten my hair cut the day before at another salon and the best description for what I was left with is "hack job."  Since I was leaving for vacation the next day, I was desperate to have it fixed and called ANiU since I've heard their ads on the radio forever.  The woman who booked my appointment was very nice, and after I explained the situation and that I needed a stylist very experienced with working with short hair she recommended an appointment with Amy, a level three stylist ($40).When I arrived for my appointment I was checked in and took a seat in the waiting area, which is set up with coffee and hot tea.  Amy came out to get me right on time and took a few minutes to listen to my preferences.  She then told me what she could do to help salvage the cut and got to work.She was able to even out much of the choppiness of the first cut and give my hair a better shape, while keeping within my initial preferences.  She then showed me how to easily style it and suggested a product to keep it from flying away on me.  Some people have mentioned that the staff really pushes product, but she didn't push me to buy anything, she just asked if I needed anything and when I said no, that was that.The salon is HUGE - I was really surprised by how many stylist chairs they have.  Amy told me they have upwards of 50 stylists who work at the salon, which explains how easy it was to get an appointment on such short notice just before Labor Day.  I would definitely recommend both the salon and Amy. Not bad as full service salons/spas go.  I only use their waxing services and they make it relatively painless.  You can get an amazing amount waxed in just 15 minutes.  PROS: really easy to get an appointment time, they take walk-ins (for waxing at least), offer pretty much every salon/spa service you can think of, and easy parking.CONS: no hard wax -- they supposedly offer it, but whenever I ask for it specifically my aesthetician always convinces me otherwise, they push product like crazy, and it's a little pricey.  Overall, fast, convenient, and nice facilities.  Just wish they would use hard wax upon request. I recently came here to get my haircut after doing my research this the place I had decided on, as im new to wi I hadn't a clue where to go. My hair was so damaged which makes sense seeing as my last haircut was atleast a year and a half before so I decided to take the plunge and get a lob (long bob) shorter in the back longer in the front my hair before then was near the very bottom of my back. I opted for a level 5 and I couldn't be happier she was great, I believe her name was Rebecca! She listened and gave me suggestions on how to style which I loved. This was my first time at this salon/spa. I received a mani and pedi. It has been very difficult for me to find a good salon where the nail techs can do real nails and not just fake nails. Upon entering the salon it is very clean and staff is friendly. I was offered a complimentary beverage, which I enjoyed. The wait was not long at all for my nail tech to come out and get me.Zoe was my nail tech for both my hands and toes. I came with another person and I was very pleased that Zoe moved stations to accommodate my friend and I so we could be together. She did an excellent French tip even with me wanting my nails cut very short. The one thing I was no pleased about was I noticed a buffed one of my nails and she did not offer to fix it - I felt uncomfortable asking. The mani was no doubt great though, I enjoyed the hot towels and massage.My pedicure was excellent. I wish they would've had more comfortable chairs though. They more like benches, and I'm used to having individual chairs with massaging backs. She did a very good job with the pedi all around! They used one time files that they tossed away at the end, which helps keep things more sanitary. Overall I really enjoyed my experience here. Prices were pretty decent for the services I received. I would give this salon 4 stars given that I am pleased with their spa services-I like their facials because they are good and the products are compatible for sensitive skin. However, the services at the front desk has been so unpleasant that I had to knock off a star! This is based on calls for booking to in-person interactions. They're just rude and seem indifferent about providing service. I guess they get the job done in setting up appointments and checking customers in. The salon is popular and the products used are good, but they fall short in customer service at the reception. If they were in any big city, the competition would have wiped them out no matter how good their salon services are. Perhaps management doesn't think a bar needs to be set or maintained..... Had two different experiences, went once for a facial w/ acne add on and loved it so much that I went back to try out their hair stylist. Let's start off with the facial: It was fabulous. The room was all the way back away from the louder area of the salon/spa so it was really quiet. I was so happy about that because that is the worst thing-listening to other people in the hallway while you're trying to relax. The lady who performed the service was amazing and so skilled. I melted in her hands and it was the best facial i've ever had. They had some offer as I was checking out that I would be entered into a raffle for prebooking appointments which I did- but left the ticket on the counter. Called back 10 minutes after I left and all I got was a sorry :/ For the haircut: This will break down into another two sections: the haircut and the style. For the cut itself I was not displeased, but I wasn't in love with the cut either. It doesn't seem like any weight was taken out of my hair and the layers weren't as distinct as I normally have them. If I had gone for a style alone I would have left one star. It was a blowdry that I would have expected from someone still in school. My hair was a big frizz ball and didn't look like I had just come from a salon and spent $55 for a level 4 stylist. (one of their mid-high stylist)As I left I asked the front desk what they thought, they thought I looked great, very unenthusiastically ;) I took a picture and sent it to their manager--she offered a free style. Aniu is quite expensive but on the other hand it has a huge number of stylists and other beauty professionals to choose from plus the service has always been good.  For hair, they have a huge number of stylists to choose from--Robert is the #1 but he is BOOKED for months on end!One of the waxers--I believe her name is Shirley--is really good and I'd recommend her for a fast, accurate wax. The spa services are so relaxing, and saving the best for last...the yoga studio is the best. Don't forget to go downstairs and check it out. It's beautiful.
