well it finally happened, after two and a half years of salon hopping I've finally found "my person"- Miss Robyn. I came in with very damaged, very faded color hair. It was once a beautiful purple, then turned blue, and finally a sad looking green color. Everyone here is exceptionally talented and professional. It's an intimate space, and really friendly (including the other clients). And in the end, Alice just provided a really nice experience in which she listened to me, was thoughtful about what to do to achieve the look I wanted, and skillfully executed it. I've used their services on two occasions this year, both have been pretty stellar experiences:1. I had my bridal hair and make-up done by Alice, the owner of MBH. My first (free!) consultation with her was great and her questions were really helpful in nailing down the kind of look that I wanted. Trial sessions were optional but I went ahead and did one with her. I'm glad I did and I felt more comfortable and confident about the whole process. I got some really good beauty tips as well, which are always welcome for someone who really don't do much make-up and styling on an everyday basis. Alice also did my sister and moms' hair and make-up for the wedding, and she worked right on schedule. We did not feel rushed and she was very open about communicating if there was anything that doesn't feel/look right.        2. Recently had my hair cut by Denise, their senior beauty operator. She was very easy to talk with about style. I'm the type of person who usually  comes undecided about things and chatting with my stylist helps much. MBH is special. The space is perfectly intimate and Alice and Robin are incredibly talented (& of course, friendly). I can be a bit picky regarding how I like my "low-ball fade", but Alice never fails to take her time and do it right. I scheduled a last minute appointment here with Alice when I decided suddenly that I needed to try bangs for the first time in 25 years.Alice (one of the owners) did an amazing job! I get very anxious about hair cuts often because I feel like I have difficulty communicating what I want.  Alice is very approachable and she gave me advice on what styles would or wouldnt work with my face and hair type. (A good stylist should be able to say no if they can see a certain cut won't work for your hair type... I really appreciate that!) She helped me figure out what would work and then gave me wonderful cute bangs. I may never go back to long front hair again.I went back a second time to Alice to get a few inches cut off for the summer, and I am incredibly happy. Love everything about this place! I've been in limbo trying to find a stylist for a good couple of years, and had my first appointment with Miss Robyn. Not only was she great to chat with, she NAILED the ash toned "bronde" I was looking for. (Any fellow cool tone lovers know this isn't the easiest.) What I had envisioned in my head, she brought to life perfectly. And it has stayed beautiful and vibrant in the past weeks since my visit. I actually started at the salon a few months prior with Ashley, and man oh man does she know her nails. I am a life long nail biter, and she helped get my natural nails to a healthy state, with length I have never had in my life. Alice, the owner, always pops in to chat at my visits, and I love the kombucha tea they always offer. The awesome appointments I had with Ashley, and partaking in conversations with the other staff, are truly why I booked an appointment for my hair, and I'm so happy I did! I have been going to salons for almost two decades, and have always hated the intimidating feel and almost awkward feeling I get when I'm there. This place reminds me of Steel Magnolias, relaxed energy, and great great conversations with staff that feels more like family. Iced tea, southern accents, and a wrap around porch with rocking chairs are the only thing missing... I guess the big 80s hair, too ;-) I'll be a loyal client and follow this place forever, not only for their high skill level and knowledge, but also for the home away from home environment they created. I always drive by Midwest Beauty House and finally made an appointment for a haircut with Alice a few weeks ago. I've been sporting a disconnected undercut with a top-knot for the past few years and just needed a shave on the sides and a trim on top. Alice did a great job and while I didn't explicitly ask, she even added a slight fade on the sides, some much-needed texture on the top, and a short beard trim to blend it with my side-burns. Miss Robyn has been styling my hair for the past 8 years, and I absolutely adore her. I went to Alice for a cut on the recommendation of a friend. My hair is so so so hard to work with and I keep getting it cut by different people and it keeps getting shorter and shorter but not better  After a really in depth consult (free) and a cut with Alice, I can finally give my hair a break because I am happy with it and not itching to get yet another cut!
