I have been here several times. They're right in my neighborhood. The work result has been mediocre at best. Now, I will never go again. Someone commented that whoever does my eyebrows messed them up. This person wasn't even working on me and said it loudly in front of other patrons. I was not wearing makeup and have a scar from a childhood accident that makes it look uneven. There have been other uncalled for comments but that was the last dig. I am truly disappointed with my pedicure.  I went with the basic $36 plus the shellac for my toes.   The total charge of $56 and my heal was cut from her scrubbing hard and my polish on my big toe wasn't smooth and looks as though something is under the polish. Read Less

I unfortunately have to give this place one star. I called ahead and had an appointment at 4:45. I was told to sit in one of the manicure chairs and was not even talked to until 5:25. I had an appointment for a manicure and the woman who did it came over with a small bowl of cold sink water and told me to soak my hands in this. She did not say anything to me the entire time except "who pay?" She filed my nails in 30 seconds and pushed the cuticles back so hard that I started bleeding badly on two nails. She just said "oh you're bleeding." She didn't even remove my old red nail polish, she just painted the pink over it!! She painted my nails in about 3 minutes and missed a lot of the sides. When all was done it was $36! Worst manicure I have ever had, she was with me for maybe 7 minutes total. She seemed pissed when I only gave her a 5 dollar tip but the manicure was terrible and I did not get good service. Don't bother with this place, it's a waste of money. Read Less

I find it very rude that you deleted my review on Facebook!  All I wanted was to know where Vincent and Danny went!!  Anyway, my husband and I used to drive over an hour one way to go to Lotus!  It was well worth it for nails and a pedicure!  The last few times we were there we noticed many familiar staff gone.  Our pedicures were done by new people, and were certainly not as good as they used to be, my polished chipped within a week, and the pedicures seemed rushed.  This never happened before!  Lotus had the best pedicures we've ever had!  We also found out Danny had left.  He did an excellent manicure for my husband, and this was very upsetting!  The last time we went he didn't have a manicure because Danny was gone.   I've only had Vincent do my nails, as he was superb!  I've had my nails done at so many other places, and NEVER had them done as well as Vincent did them!  Now, I call today to have a fill and am told Vincent is now gone!  I knew there were new owners, and many people left, including Danny....but now Vincent??!!!   We will NOT be returning.  We would just like to know where everyone went!  We will be happy to follow them where ever they are!  So sad after almost 3 years of coming to this salon, and telling everyone how wonderful it was, that it had to end this way. If only Yelp had zero star ratings... this company would get one. If you have a three year old in your family, you'd be better off having them do your nails then going here. I personally haven't been here, but my sister and her friend went here last night. That's when the day took a turn for the worse. When she told me that the owner is the one who did her nails, I was expecting a fabulous review and nails that looked stupendous. You could imagine my surprise when she was rather upset - and more importantly - uncomfortable and in pain. As you can see in the attached photos, the salon owner (she believes his name is Denny, but it may be Danny), either doesn't know where a cuticle ends and a finger begins or simply doesn't care - both which make him not only unqualified to own a nail salon, but even more so to do nails. Obviously, my sister and her friend displayed a level of annoyance, as I'm sure many would do in a situation that they were in - where someone providing a service doesn't take responsibility. This resulted in both of their nail totals being up charged $5.00 from the displayed, and agreed upon, price. I can only imagine this would have happened because he didn't think he would have gotten a tip - which at least he would've been knowledgeable enough to read the room and understand that. But to up charge because he did an awful job... why is the customer paying for that?This... 'business' was contacted today regarding this matter. Logical, reasonable people would generally assume responsibility when they injure a customer, but the response that they got was that "that happens sometimes". Do your nails at home or go to a reputable business, that stands by the pricing displayed & that doesn't injure their customers (and the people who keep them in business) "sometimes", and when they do injure or do wrong to their patrons, they promptly fix it. I wish I could give this salon zero stars. One of the most UNFRIENDLY nail salons I have ever visited. The staff was very rude. They acted like doing a pedicure was a total bother even though the salon was practically empty. And it was the middle of the afternoon. Very mediocre pedicure. When I inquire about callous buffing I was told $5 more dollar. Ridiculous. This basic pedicure was $34! I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. I did not complain at all and was very courteous. When I gave her my $5 tip (in cash as she requested ) she practically snatched it out of my hand without any acknowledgment. Sad. The end result of my nails and pedicure has always been good but it's just not worth it. The staff is over worked and super rude. It's always so crowded and even if you have an appointment you'll wait. I was told I needed to come in the morning because then Danny will be able to take care of me. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. The menu of services is drool worthy. The decor and style is by far the most professional in Madison. Similar to a big city nail bar feel. However, that's the end of my review. They advertise walk-ins but I've never been able to walk-in. Ive been completely ignored to this last time they said I'd have to wait and I said no problem, how long? The women literally stopped talking to me and turned away. All of my shellac polish nails "fell off" within 4 days. I'm not kidding. I spent $40 plus $8 tip thinking that the nails would last at least a week if not the 2 weeks they say. Yesterday I opened up a make up compact and I heard a snap... I looked at my nails and noticed my right thumb nail was clear and in the sink was the shellac! A full shellac nail in the sink. I've never had that happen. Slowly but surely today they've all come off - one came off when I was putting my hair in a pony tail! The products they use are extremely cheap. They said they'd fix them but to just put the same crap on? No thanks. They'll never get my business again -- expensive lesson. Read Less

Danny and Vincent are the BEST! I have been coming here for shellac for some time and often bring my young daughter in for pedis. We have always had great service and have been happy. Prices are also right in line with other places I have been in Madison, and this one is conveniently right around the corner from my home! Recently, Danny recommended that I try "dip" (I call it powder, and I've heard it referred to as "diamond powder," too). He told me it's all natural and good for your nails. I was skeptical because it's $5 more than shellac, but I was paying to add the strengthening stuff anyway, so I went with it. I LOVE IT! This stuff DOES NOT break, doesn't get dirty if it's a light color and actually does help my nails grow the longest they have ever been on their own. I am now going (too long, I know), about 3-4 weeks between visits and my nails stay strong until I can't take the outgrow anymore and go back. I've had various experiences with a few other techs but always try to see Vincent or Danny now. They're both so sweet, treat my little one well, and do a GREAT job! Read Less

i was looking around for a new place to get my nails done and two of my friends recommended lotus. it looked very nice in the pictures and the nails all looked very pretty. i decided i would give it a try and i was very impressed. i use to just get my nails done at the mall and i there was always something i was dissapointed in but here, i was more than happy with how things went. the two men that did me and my friends nails were benny and vincent. they were both very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. they were gentle and they listened to what we wanted and delivered!! i was very impressed and i will definitely be going back Read Less

Service is spotty at best. Was really happy the first time I went, the gentleman listened to me and did as I asked beautifully with a very original design. The second time a different guy was so rough with my nails that he injured my thumb nail which is currently in the process of regrowing because it actually fell off. I got a mani/pedi and the difference between the manicure and pedicure were night and day. I would like to give the pedicure a 4/5 stars - it was relaxing, a calm environment, though some interesting 80's music choices. I had a glass of white wine while I read and had a foot massage and got my toes painted a deep read. The woman was sweet and not chatty and had a pleasant smile. I loved every minute of it. I cross to the other side of the wall am greeted by a woman who looks at my choice of nail polish and rolls her eyes - "do you want a shellac? Because this will come off in 1 day!" Curious on why they would distribute such an inferior product, I inquire about the price of this and find out its double the cost - a bit outrageous as someone who was just looking to get some relaxation after a Monday at work. She rolls her eyes again as I agree to the "one day" manicure, which she reminds me of multiple times. My nails are trimmed speedily and inconsistently. She then asks if I want to pay and I agree that's probably best. She paints my nails sloppily and quickly as there is another woman, a walk in, who wants a shellac. My fingers are stained with polish and she pointedly asks if I would like and eyebrow wax after looking at my eyebrows. I'm ushered to the drying area with no goodbye, no offer for any water, or any warm remark. With not much guidance on where or what I was doing, I burn my hand on the black light and leave in frustration as there is no one in a 10 foot radius of me. Looking at my nails now, I think I would rather pay a middle school girl to do a better job. Anything but the basic pedicure is way overpriced. I don't think there was anything organic in the organic milk and honey option I got. I never saw anything resembling honey but they did pour some white murky liquid into the water. Then she tells me there is an up charge of 4 bucks on the OPI polish I picked out after I was sitting in the chair. Really?! No sign over the polish area to warn people.My one foot is still red from the scalding wax treatment. She kneaded my foot so hard I thought she would break a bone!Still have dry calluses on my heels- she barely touched them. My polish on my big toe was smeared before I even left the shop but it was tolerable since there was a line waiting.Then a buck for using a card to pay...2 stars is generous if I think about it! In theory, this place is great. I came here with a friend, and we were able to get in quickly. The woman did a nice job, and overall my nails looked good. The only issue was, that they chipped within 4 days. I sit at a desk all day. My nails should NOT chip that quickly. We had a great time, and we were in and out quickly - but perhaps it was a little TOO quickly. I wish they had taken the time to take a bit more care with my nails. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They are completely unprofessional and RUDE. They have teenagers running the appointments that have no professionalism. The nail techs take phone calls when they do your nails, including the person who helps run the place named Danny. They also will leave you in the middle of your appointment to go work on another persons nails and come back, which makes you stay there for another hour! All because they care about money and it's poor quality service. When I first went there they were friendly but after a while it went downhill and they became demanding and only wanted cash and pressure people for cash ONLY (to not claim on their taxes) they will tell you it's to send to their family back home. -If there were any truth to that then they would do what any normal person would do, take the money out of their own checking account and send the money to their family back home. They give you the sob game and pretend they are poor but they upcharge insanely. Their quality is not even up to par for the amount they charge. I have tried to get basic nail services in the past when it got to expensive for me, however they would tell me "No. It would not work" and would spout off in Vietnamese to their co-workers, so the "white people" could not understand them. I had gone to this nail salon for quite some time and wanted to change and finally I could not take the way they treated myself and other people anymore. I had 3 coworkers stop going to them before me for various reasons, such as lack of sanitation.Nice place inside, but I would go anywhere else to avoid people like this and not give them my money for the TERRIBLE customer service. Also to the owners- It's not professional to have your staff or the person who claims he is the "owner" to argue with people in front of everyone and cause scenes. I've been to Lotus Nails several times since it opened a few years ago and every time I've had a great experience. (I even moved across town and still come back to Lotus to get my nails done!) I usually get a regular pedicure and shellac manicure and each of the staff are very professional and efficient. It's also a really great place for wedding parties. I made an appointment for a regular manicure and pedicure, showed up 5 minutes before and ended up waiting 15 minutes until they could seat me for a pedicure. Cleanliness is not the best - I don't think they use sterilized tools, as I noticed the tools were on a rolling chair that was moved from pedicure station to another. I liked the nail work that I got but did not like how they rushed me at the end of my pedicure. I was on my last clear coat and while waiting for it to dry, my nail tech stepped away to put things away just as three other customers showed up for pedicures - this other nail tech wanted me to get out of my seat so she could seat the three- I explained that I needed my clear coat. Instead of waiting for my nail tech to return, she decided to pull out her own clear coat for me and then quickly rushed me away. That really irritated me that my time doesn't matter to them, all they care is the number of customers they can get in. I have never had such a horrible experience as I did from the manager. I called to book an appointment with one of the 2 guys there. I was told "they are completely full". Meaning, ALWAYS! I was also told I was making them lose customers due to being late. I am never late and always come with a smile and TRY to leave with one. Lately, that's been difficult!! I was also told that I am able to just come to whoever is available. So, I asked "him" if that was his polite way of asking me not to return? He replied, "you can come to anyone but us". Although this is my go-to salon in Madison, it tends to be hit or miss. When they're not swamped with walk-ins and appointments, service here is top notch. Everyone is super nice and accommodating. Love the glass of wine you get with your service! They also generally do a great job at both manicures and pedicures.However when they're busy, I've been very disappointed with their service and quality. The last shellac manicure I had began peeling in 3 days, definitely not what you expect or pay for. The polish application was also very messy and uneven. They didn't apply enough coats and it was see through in parts. They should utilize the other half of their building for additional pedicures and manicures and hire more staff. I want to start by saying if I was only reviewing the pedicures I've gotten here, this would be a 4 star rating but....Absolutely, hands down, the worst manicure I've ever received. I can't believe I even agreed to pay $45 for it. First, he was going so fast in an attempt to just get onto the next customer that as he was filing my nails, he sliced my finger open and fixed it with basically super glue with no warning. Just threw some on a cotton round AFTER I pointed out the fact that I was bleeding and smeared it right on. Not generally what I'm used to when getting a mani. Second, when I asked to have the corners rounded a little bit he told me "in a little bit" and then completely ignored my request the next time I brought it up before he applied the nail color. His response after was that they would round out as o typed through the week. So far my furious typing on this review has left my nails solid squares. My nails are all different lengths and not consistent at all. My cuticles look terrible. He scraped his hand against one of my fingers while applying the top coat and did not fix it so now I have a smeared nail. The acrylic doesn't even cover my entire nails so the sides are just open messes of extensions, glue, and poorly prepped natural nail. And the underside of everything is just a mess of chunks and rough. His response to me when I came back from washing my hands and he told me I was done, was to keep washing my hands- it will come off eventually. Now, all in all, I could maybe consider a two star for this except for the fact that I had my nails done for the wedding I'm in tomorrow. I will never be returning to this location. Read Less

This has become my new favorite nail spot! The prices are good and they always do quality work. I have been there three times and it is very clean and well organized. I have never had to wait a long time even on Saturday mornings. I have acrylic nails with gel polish. They make my nails look natural, no weird bubbles or thickness. It is a bright and happy place to visit! Pretty and modern looking. I have never left disappointed. Heads up, they charge a $1 fee for credit cards. I usually just grab cash on my way there. I called around 9:50am on a Saturday and booked a 10:30am pedicure appointment. When I arrived at 10:30, I didn't have to wait at all. They took me straight to the pedicure chair. The place is very clean. The pedicure tubs are lined with plastic. They use new nail tools for each person, and they open the package in front of you. I got the organic orange pedicure. The hot stone massage was wonderful, and I loved the paraffin wax treatment. I had a great relaxing experience and will definitely be back.They charge a $1 fee if you use a credit card. Read Less
