Note: My experience reflects coloring from darker hair to Blonde only. I did not receive a hair cut and this was my first time here.
My experience went from very bad to good. In the last picture, you can see the result of the first time I went in to get blonde added to my hair. My ultimate goal was to add an ashy bleach blonde to my level 6 brown hair ombre style. The first time I came in, I saw Gina and she was very nice and seemed to understand exactly what I wanted. However, by the end I was pointing out things I didn't like and my comments were ignored and I was told I could pay the total amount once more in a new appointment to lighten my hair and to fix it, including the missed spot in the back that she even acknowledged was there.
I was pretty frustrated at this point because I had weird looking highlights from my roots down, and the blonde wasn't blended into the brown. Plus as you can see in the last picture, there was a missed spot in the back, and the blonde and brown were not at even heights on my hair. The left side looked completely different than the right side. Not to mention my hair was a yellowish orange. Every time I walked around the city, I kept seeing all these girls with perfect ombres no matter what their hair color is, and it made me feel so bad about myself and the way mine turned out. I felt that I just needed to wear a hat and couldn't take it off.
I contacted the salon owner and told him the problems I had and made it clear that I knew that getting the color I wanted could require multiple sessions and would cost more. however, i did not believe I should pay so much to fix what I hadn't asked to be done in the first place (highlights). Normally I avoid confrontation but I was so unhappy with my hair that I felt I had to say something. So Tony replied and agreed to help fix what was done FOR FREE.
I came back in and Tony and Gina got started working on my hair. This time they started a new method, and Tony told me they had been practicing the night before for me. This new method included giving the appearance of root extensions (I think that is what he called it). By the end It looked much better, but because of how high and vibrant the highlights were (ugh) they had to bring the blonde up much higher, which is what I wanted...except they brought it up to my roots almost.... which is not what I wanted. So Here you can see the final result. The new lightening caused the lower half to be lighter but the upper half is just as yellowish/orangish. Also, it does not look as blending as I would like between the brown and the blonde, though I'm just that is because of how high they had to dye it as well. Now I feel like I have paid the ombre price just to dye my whole head blonde.
Now I am just going to wait until my hair grows out a little more and try again for what I came in for the first time (mostly because this color looks weird on me but not it's too close to my roots to really ombre the new color on)
I do not believe my situation best reflects their talents or abilities. I am sure that they are good at what they do, but for what ever reason, my hair was just not what I came in and asked for, even though I am sure I was clear about what I wanted and showed pictures (which I've included below). I am not 100% satisfied with the final result, but the customer service and their efforts to fix the problem is very impressive. Tony even emailed me once more to ask how my hair was doing. He really seems to care about his clients! They were very kind and worked for many hours to correct the issue. I probably will even come back because they really impressed me with their services. Overall, I gave them a high score because they did what they could to make the best of a not-so-perfect situation, and my hair does look a lot betterthan it did, even if it is not an ombre.
To those who are considering going to this salon for color, I highly suggest being extremely detailed about what you want and make sure you mention to them how you feel about highlighting and which areas you want covered. Read Less
