Bleach blonde with a hint of orange? Not cute. At all. It’s pretty disappointing when you drop $130 on hair services (all color prices no cut or anything...) and end up with that as the result. Let me first start on a positive note by saying that the woman who did my bridal hair was outstanding. She was kind, and did an amazing job. HOWEVER, when you work with a team, the experience isn’t satisfactory unless all people are doing good work. My bridal party got both nails and hair done at OP. Environment was quiet and the nail techs were extremely hard to engage. I heard my mother ask her tech if she was “ok” numerous times, and also asked her if she was taking up too... much of her time. That broke my heart as I really wanted the experience to be positive for my mom. The same gal came up to me while I was getting my hair done the next day and very rudely told me that I would need to pay for 3-4 makeup applications that people cancelled. At the end, we found out it was only 1 and I was happy to pay that. My stylist was taken back by her comment and it was not something I wanted to worry about that day. We are from out of town and this was honestly the only negative experience we had throughout the week. I haven't gotten a haircut in about 2.5 years.... My hair was past my rear end! I've always enjoyed my long hair (that I had since high school), but it was really starting to get damaged and I felt the need to do something new since I was graduating college. I went into Orange Pearl simply knowing I wanted a cut, no idea how to style. Initially I wanted to keep it a bit longer, and Ellie worked with me to let me know what should be cut off due to damage, and what would be lef...t. We went for it. While she washed my hair, she waxed and cleaned up my eyebrows very well. There was minimal pain (I don't keep up too well with my brows). Once we got back to the chair, I shared I was up for cutting a bit more off as well as adding layers. Ellie really took the time to blow-dry my thick hair, then continue her work. Earlier I had mentioned I was hoping I would be able to curl it more since it was so hard when it was so long, so she spent some time teaching me and guiding me on how to use a curling wand! They are very skilled and experienced at Orange Pearl. They will treat you right and make the experience more than just a cut or color. Somewhat on the pricey side, but you definitely get what you pay for. I've been going here for years. I've seen many of the stylists, but honestly, $59 for a haircut is simply TOO MUCH. It doesn't matter who you are, or how wonderfully you cut hair. It's too much. I was there last week for a simple cut. She washed, conditioned and cut my hair (excluding my bangs, she didn't even touch them). I exited, agitated, but somewhat content with the results (hence, two stars), but to hear that the total was $59 excluding a tip (it then totalled to be $6...5), and to not even have my bangs touched really put a bad taste in my mouth. AND ON TOP OF IT, all she did was blow dry my hair until it was plastered to my head. No styling. No nothing. My bangs were literally sticking straight out from my head. I had to go to the bathroom after I paid and re-wet my hair so that it could look halfway acceptable before I went to work. I then ended up going home to trim my bangs myself. They have vegan (cruelty-free) hair products which also are great for people with allergies to chemicals in regular shampoos and conditioners. I came in for a Brazilian wax. Now I have had quite a number of waxes bouncing between bikini and Brazilian and I have never cried during an appointment. The wax used here is not the best quality and is quite harsh on the skin. Not only did this affect it but also the girl seemed inexperienced and kept going over the same areas repeatedly where she had missed some hair. This went on till almost the end, when she went over an area too many times and ripped off skin and I started bleeding. I requested we stop, and agreed I would just pay the full amount for the service even after she said regardless it would still be full price even if I didn't finish the wax. It was so poorly done, and even after she tried to get me to book ANOTHER appointment to "thin" the hair out better so I wouldn't be so "sensitive". Never Again! Read Less

Terrible experience. Overcharged me. Stuck me with a newbie when I was told I was going to see a senior stylist. While the “apprentice” was drying my hair she kept banging my head with the round brush...literally took an hour and a half for a simple trim. Not worth the money or the experience AT ALL!! AMAZING!! Honestly, I had such a great experience here! I donated about 10 inches and didn't really know what to do besides that. I gave my stylist (Karina) a couple reference pictures and she suggested stuff I wouldn't even think of based on my face/neck structure...and I LOVE what we came up with! She even styled it and offered styling advice since I haven't had short hair in such a long time - everything from special blow drying tips for my hair texture to curling it with a straight iron. I went in for a simple bang trim and the stylist thought I was there for an eye brow wax. I double checked my booking and It was correct. My bangs were cut way too short and she layered them! The shortest layer is only half an each from my root!! I am so embarrassed and I didn't want to be rude so I rushed out in a hurry hoping no one would notice me. She pulled on my bangs as she cut them which is always a no no when cutting bangs as they shorten when you let them go. They are well above my eye brows and I can hardly pin them back. I would never recommend this place to anyone!! worst service I have ever received. Came in to get my hair toned, the lady turn my hair dark blonde! I was a platinum blonde, went back in for a "correction" the clare girl they put me with was the RUDEST lady I ever met. She told me if I wanted to be light again, I had to pay. at this point after going back and forth I walked out. I called the salon maybe 6 times to talk to a manager, took about 2 weeks for someone to finally get back to me. After talking to a manager they agreed to refund me...2 weeks later no refund. called again, someone gave me a petty excuse, said they'd call me back later that day..never got a call. Now I call again, the lady told me they refunded me yesterday...$25 on a $85 charge. Both myself and my friends have had undesirable coloring services with orange pearl. In my personal experience, the price I was charged was $60 over the quote I was given. After my coloring service, my $200 coloring was literally unnoticeable, so I called them and they were very reasonable and asked me to come in to have the service corrected, "free of charge." After the color correction, I was charged an additional $75 for the service, even though they had said it would be complementary (because they charged me for a toner and a blowout, even though they were correcting their original mistake). To be clear, I was unaware of the charges prior to the service. I was very respectful through out the whole process, but the entire situation rubbed me the wrong way. Many of my friends have had very similar experiences. My advice is to ask for a clear quote prior to your appointment. I will not return to orange pearl myself. Read Less

I was quite disappointed on my last visit and will not come back. I had to wait approximately a total of 45 mins to get my haircut, I did have an appointment.  I was taken back to get my hair washed at the 30 min mark but was only disappointed to find out that I was left alone at the stylist's chair with wet hair for another 10 mins or so (I should have just left at this point). What made me more angry was that no staff apologized or offered me any discounts for this inconvenience (An apology was all I needed) and waste of my time. I recently received a haircut here from Sierra and I absolutely adore it! She was so friendly and professional and I love how she really listened to me. The other ladies working there were also really encouraging, especially since I was going from really long hair to a pixie cut! The only thing I didn't like is that I bought a hair care product from them and later when I went to the store I saw that they charged me almost 3 times the regular price (they charged me $22 when the product is actually about $7.50). I understand that you need to make a profit and that stylists probably make commission (I expect I'll be paying more in a salon), but that is excessive. I feel a bit cheated by that. I was also told that I would receive $10 off for being referred, but that didn't happen either. I will definitely see Sierra for a cut again, but I won't be buying any more products. Read Less

These people are extremely rude and RACIST. I am a Puerto Rican female in her young 20's that came here on a business trip from Atlanta and was treated extremely poorly as if I was in a 1930's segregated town. I walked up to the receptionist earlier in the day and asked if there were any openings for a mani-pedi. She said they were pretty busy and did not have anything but a 5:30 opening. I was fine with the time and said I would come back later. When I came back at 5:30 ready to get my nails done, she said that unfortunately that spot was filled and that this was the last appointment for the day. She said this in a very rude and dismissive way as if I was not welcomed there.Why would they book an appointment at a certain time just to make me waste my time knowing that they would not service me here... If that's the case! There should be a sign placed on the door saying who is and isn't welcomed in this "awesome" salon. I suggest you educate yourselves a bit better and get with the times before putting your own business on the line for something as ridiculous and ignorant as this. The set up and style of the salon was very cute. It is decorated well and kept very clean. The staff was very friendly. However, my actual service was not at all worth the money. I received a manicure/pedicure. My nail tech was very sweet and talked to me a lot but she left a lot to be desired. First of all, the appointment took over two hours. I was there 20 minutes past closing because of how long it took. I have never had a mani/pedi take longer than an hour and thirty or so minutes. Second of all, my manicure was just plain not good. My nails are not even and are cracked. She was a bit too harsh when she pushed back my cuticles and I ended up bleeding. Overall, she seemed to not know what she was doing. She said "Oh wait!" a lot like she was forgetting to do things. Not a good experience. The salon seems to have a loyal client base, maybe their hair services are better. As good a cut as I've paid much more for. I was in town visiting and stopped in because it was convenient. They were quite helpful with the appointment times, and the price they quoted me was accurate and didn't get hyperinflated as I checked out (as I've had happen). I described a couple basic things I wanted and let my stylist (Shay) have her way with my head. I love what she did, she showed me what I need to upkeep it and even gave me a couple 'you could also do this . . . ' sort of tips. On the corner of 3rd & Pearl in the heart of downtown La Crosse, the ladies of the Orange Pearl really know how to rock a hair-style. In addition to hair services they offer nail services, waxing, & make-up. I've never walked out with a bad haircut or color since I started going there -- they all seem to keep very up to date on the latest hair trends & fashions. They have also started carrying more boutique type items like handbags and jewelry. Usually they have a good special each month on products or services--check out the window for their monthly deals. My only complaint would be that they mostly carry only the TIGI brand products (S Factor, Bedhead, Rockaholic, Catwalk), of which I am not a fan. They also carry Moroccan Oil products, which I've yet to try.
