I'm giving Vata Salon a 5, because of the way Holly the owner handled my mishap cut n color, from another stylist there, the day before. She not only corrected the situation she treated me with love, respect and kindness, not in a superficial way either...she bent over backwards to fix the situation (I was a bit traumatized) and literally had no time....getting on an international flight in 14 hours she guided me to please come in. She refunded me without my asking, and gifted me an Aveda conditioner. She tirelessly handled the situation late after hours when she could have been home with her family. She treated me like a family member of her salon. The integrity of salon is remarkable and highly rare...cannot recommend enough! Read Less

I am appalled at the treatment I received from Holly (the owner or manager) at Vata Salon. I have been going to Vata since April. In October, I missed an appointment due to a family emergency. In December, I called because I was arriving 20 minutes late to a 2.15 hour appointment (full color and cut).  I did not expect them to give me the full service, but to not waste the appointment I could arrive in 10 minutes to at least get the haircut or half color (I have gotten half color before because they couldn't fit a full color). They asked me to reschedule on the 22nd, which they failed to schedule. So I than had to wait till the 29th.Today, Holly called me to say I have to pay $56 to keep my next appointment on the 29th . I voiced my discontent/disagreement with this policy and she asked me not to return to her salon.. "our salon is not a good fit for you", and hung up. She wouldn't even let me talk.It is clear businesses need to have policies, but that comes with customer service. I have never been fully satisfied with their service, but stayed because I love Aveda products, it's close to home and the technician is super sweet last hair color she finally got it perfect! One thing is having policies, another is treating your customers as dispensable, unwelcome guests. She acted as an elitist financial institution and I am a street person asking for a loan. Read Less

I most definitely recommend to see Bethany for cut, color, and an all over great experience. Bethany is very calm and detailed oriented. She works efficiently in that I never feel like I am there for an excessive amount of time nor do I ever feel rushed. She has a good eye for color blending and I have not had one single bad experience at Vata salon. The salon itself is fairly simple in its design, but still seems modern and clean. Very professional treatment. I was booked for a cut and perm. Found out initially that my appointment was made "backward," I.e. should have had the perm booked first, before the cut, but this was quickly fixed. Dianne did a fabulous Iso perm, and Drew did the cut (to the curl). Beautiful! Will definitely come back. Read Less

I just had the BEST pedicure of my life, from Rececca at Vata Salon in downtown Vancouver. I got the spa deluxe and it was worth every penny PLUS they have a $10 off new customer coupon on their website right now! I love this place. I have been going to Hollie for 5-6 years before they moved out of the mall. The salon is always clean, relaxing, and has a atmosphere that I feel everyone can appreciate and feel comfortable in. The staff is knowledgeable and efficient. Hollie is always attending classes to help better her skills and the skills of those who work for her. They keep up with all the new styles but have such an array of techniques that they can always give you what you are looking for, or lead you in the right direction. All the stylist encourage talking about what you see for yourself. I have gone to get my nails and toes done as well and the quality of the work is equally matched literally from head to toe. I highly recommend this salon for whatever you need, products, hair styles, weddings, manicures, pedicures. They make sure you leave happy or they make sure to fix it and are always willing to work with you. Which I feel you couldn't ask for much more in a business in general, let alone a salon. Read Less
