I would give this place no stars for customer service but my nails turned out okay so I'll give them 2 stars. I have never felt so compelled to review a place but the lady who did my nails was so unprofessional I had to. First she asked what shape I wanted and I told her I wanted almond shape nails...the friend with me heard it as well. She proceeded to shape my nails into a coffin, I kindly explained again I wanted an almond shape and throughout the rest of the appt. she made fun of me with sarcastic comments for not knowing the shape of nails even though she was in the wrong. After that things went downhill farther, her and a coworker ended up arguing (in a different language) however it became so loud and snappy even as an English speaker I could tell. They were literally in front and back of ya yelling at eachother so loud I couldn't even speak with my friend. She bent my fingers in unnatural ways and filed into my skin. I made a same day appointment (on 3/2/18) for me and my 2 girlfriends. We were looking for a new go to place as we get monthly mains or pedies together. I hated to give less then 3 stars but I was left with a bad taste in my mouth after visiting Adela. I'm giving 2 stars for the quick response when setting up appointments via the yelp app. They were very quick and accommodating to our needs. We got there and they told us to chose our colors and give us our seats. We had a friend with us who was not getting a service done (she was patiently waiting for us) so she showed up when we had already started our pedicures. When she arrived one of the employees asked what she needed and she said she was just waiting for us to be done, that she didn't need any service. The employee shook her head (like she was annoyed) and continued with what she was doing.Anyways, I had a nail kit in my car (from another place I had gone in the past)that I had forgotten and then I brought it in and gave it to the nail technician and I told her it had only been used one time. She looked at it, laughed and then showed it to the other technician and said something (that I couldn't understand) and they both laughed.  I had requested the deluxe pedicure and she started filing my first toenail, no problem. Then she moved onto my 2nd toe and she started filing and immediately cut my toe with the file. I jerked my foot away and she looked up and asked what was wrong. I said she had cut me and she looked and indeed my toe was bleeding. She said it was the files fault. Now I have had enough pedicures and manicures to know that files can be sharp but she knew (because I had told her) it was new file. She wiped off the blood and I went on chatting with my girlfriends. She stopped filling and started doing the other parts of the pedicure. A few min later, she put some sort of alcohol based solution on my toes, including the one that was cut. It stung bad. She then told me she didn't file any of my other toenails because of the cut. At this point I was just over it. The laughing, the cut and then the solution that burned the cut was just enough for me. I didn't push the file issue. I was annoyed because I'm going on vacation tomorrow and that was my last pedicure before my trip. Lesson learned, I will probably not visit Adela again Read Less

Not worth your time. Though I made an appointment, I was not helped until 45 minutes later (this should have been my cue to walk out). Once finally seated, I got a meager apology that some of the staff was gone. As she proceeded to file my nails, she sliced right into the tip of my finger and used nail glue to stop the bleeding. Worst experience ever! Came in and got sat down with the owner. First of all, I requested Tina when I called in to make my appointment prior. Nope, no Tina. So I sat down, and she begin drilling my nails for a full acrylic set. While drilling away, she answered phone calls, greeted people AND drilled away into my skin which hurt like CRAZY. I kept tugging away my hand because I was in pain. I wish I had the nerve to be more up front. She was so rough. She slapped on my acrylics, did a horrible job shaping them. Clearly she was in a hurry because she sat there looking around "managing" the salon while filing my nails :( Thanks for a horrible $50 full set. My friend recommended this salon to me and I've been very happy to have made the switch. The folks that work here are really kind, welcoming, and conscientious about their customers. The salon is located very conveniently off of SE Thurston Way and Vancouver Mall Drive and parking has never been an issue. The salon itself is very clean, bright and is decorated cute. I came in on a Saturday night and got paired with Kim. I gave her a photo of a design I wanted and she got started right away. I asked for a full set and she was working carefully and payed attention to detail. The powder that turns into the hard plastic got stuck under my finger nails a few times, and she took some cuticle cutters to take it off which made me nervous because it could easily cut either one of us. I would've preferred her to use skinnier sander to get under there. Overall she did well, but my nails are a little uneven, but only if you really look hard. Something that would make a visit more enjoyable: turn some music on, it was pretty quiet, offer your guests something to drink, it was a long day of work, offer a hand massage after a manicure. Walked in late on a Friday, which I usually try never to do. My mom got gel and I got a full set. While both ladies were mildly rude, making it awkward for me and my mom (most awkward salon experience) my moms nails turned out great and she loved the color she got  wishing she would have bout it. Me on the other hand got an all black full set for Halloween that the lady caked on and didn't even paint to the edges, like on every finger. I've been visiting Adela for around 2 years, ever since I moved to Vancouver from Portland. Up until very recently, my experience has been pretty fantastic. The prices are reasonable and their selection of gel colors is pretty extensive. I usually walk-in, so I understand the wait, and I don't fault them for that. They are pretty busy, especially before holidays and weekends, so I get it. However, the last two times I have visited my manicure has been very disappointing. I always go for gel/shellac, which normally lasts almost 2 weeks on my nails without any issue, yet the last two times both had to be soaked off after a couple of days. The first occurrence, the nail tech trimmed my nails to the point of bleeding in a few spots and did an overall pretty inadequate job on the polish, so the coats weren't even or smooth. The second occurrence, I was asked to switch stations a few times, and they were busy, so I let that pass. However, my polish was way too clumpy and thick for gel. Anyone who gets shellac/gel manis knows that the thin coat applications create that "perfect, long-lasting" mani. The manicure was so bad my boyfriend (who never pays ANY attention to my nails) commented on how textured they looked. Within days the edges were fraying and catching on my hair and clothing. We are very unhappy with our experience today. We were not greeted upon walking in and stood around awkwardly for a while before we were acknowledged. By the time we were finally sat for our fills, the lady doing my friend's nails did not bother to tell us she had an appointment coming in. The appointment arrived after the lady had begun filing my friend's nails, and we were then asked to leave our chairs and to wait at the front- after she had begun her work!! Worst experience ever!!!!!!! Never coming back!!!! Made an APPOINTMENT at 1:00pm for 2 pedicures. 1:30 my friend gets her pedicure started (already 30 minutes late) no big deal. However I'm still sitting there waiting for somebody...1:45 rolls around, the water in my foot soaking tub is COLD and the water jets shut off.Like really? Oh, and I STILL haven't been helped. I had to actually pull my feet out of the tub because they were pruning horribly. 1:50 they seat a lady next to me who has barely just walked in and guess what?! Her fucking pedicure gets started before mine. REALLY?! I finally get helped and my pedicure begins....it was SO rushed!!! Omg the most terrible experience ever only reason why I'm giving 1 star is I had no choice it wouldn't unselect the star. The lady who did my nails works in the far end of the salon the one who sits closest to the pedicure chairs. Well that lady made me feel soo uncomfortable throughout the whole time from her long face and inability to smile when I was making a selection in fact she was against the color I chose and I also happen to want my pinky with sparkle and she gives me a weird look and says" you like sparkle?" I thought if I didn't like it it'd wouldn't be choosing it lady. Anyway she didn't say a word I get she's trying to move on to the next person but her interpersonal skills are not all there she then did my pedicure and I paid for the cheapest one but come on did I seriously pay for a 25 dollar pedicure just to have my feet dipped in the water for a minute and my toenails clipped? Hell to the NO! Then I asked for a French manicure on my toes that was another 5 bucks and the white tip was so thick they made my toes look like claws! She asked me more like told me "you didn't bring your bag?" I'm like what bag? So I guess she charged me another dollar for a stupid bag with a buffer and what looked like a dish scrubber which she used it for like a millisecond. And after that she made me walk barefoot all the way to the font of their ever so tiny salon where my feet got dirty again! What was the point where was the little disposable sandles? Nope nothing she didn't even thank me for coming she sucked all around and I'm such a generous person that I still tipped her I regret I gave her a whole 2 dollars she didn't deserve. 6-10-17 First of all everything was going good. right when we sat down to get our manicures, I said we would like the "deluxe" and then the lady said "OK OK" ( I know she doesn't speak any English except cut short long color number) and I'm not trying to be rude or anything, not knowing that there are two different deluxe menus (my mother comes here all the time and she usually got the 35$ deluxe one) so us not knowing that there were two different deluxe menus, I just said we would like the deluxe, ( yes I did not see the price on top of the menu when she told us to choose the flavor which was the 45$ one) which halfway through, my mother picked up the other menu that's the $45 one and realized that we chose that one so I told the lady that was doing my Manicure that we didn't know there was a difference in price between the two because we didn't know there was two different deluxe menus and she didn't even know what I was saying basically ignoring me in a way not answering my questions. So then I decided that I would let the front dest know which was the owner wife that we didn't know there's two different ones but I'll get to that after. I'm getting my pedicure done now and I realize the lady that's doing my pedicure is crying but trying not to make it obvious and grabbing her head as if she's in pain. And I felt bad for her because I didn't know what was going on so I just let her do my nails normally not make her redo anything which I'm totally fine with. So then when I'm walking to the front so I can pay my bill I bumped into a friend and she was telling me that her sister was here earlier and how the owners wife was yelling at the lady that was doing my nails who is crying and grabbing her head for what reason I don't know but in front of everybody. Obviously The owner didn't have any respect for the lady that was doing my nails because you could've clearly took her aside and pointed whatever she was doing wrong or whatever happened yet she was yelling to her at her in front of everybody in the salon. So I'm going to go pay my bill and I let her know "hey I never knew there was a difference in price I didn't know you guys had two different menus for the deluxe" then all she could say is "your mom comes here all the time she knows and there are prices on the top" , yeah the only thing I could say is "yes I did not see the price on the top right corner on the menu that it was $45" she could have clearly apologized but she just gave off a bad attitude. And to top it all off with this, while I was waiting to get my pedicure done a lady came in with a group of three together to get manicures done by the same lady that I had mine done that doesn't speak any English and she ended up leaving pissed off cause she wasn't understanding her.. don't know what that was all about but I'm very upset with not just their customer service but with the owners wife she was very unpleasing.Read Less

See photos, my long nails were reduced to stubs from her filing, cuticle trim resulted in several injuries (see photo) and the undercoat shows behind the polish(see photo). I was recommended here from my cousin, as I am new to the state. Beautiful salon, very welcoming and nice ambiance. However, this was the first nail salon I have ever been to, to ask me if I will be providing my own nail kit (buffer, file and callus scrub) or will I be purchasing one of theirs for $1. Sanitary reasons I presume. Another downfall is that my gel pedicure is dull, only after 4 hours. I will definitely be coming back tomorrow to have another top coat applied. My two daughters and I had appointments for regular manicures today- we waited for 20 minutes before they took one of us back, another 5 minutes for the second person and then they wanted to put me in one of the small, short chairs the pedicurists use when they work on people's feet. I declined and let my daughters just have their nails done. It was only 25 minutes until they closed for the evening, and I don't feel like my girls got the fun, relaxing time they were hoping for.Also, while I was sitting there writing this review, one of the manicurists came over to see why I changed my mind. She glanced at my phone and confronted me about writing a bad review. I had to tell her multiple times that I just wanted to sit here and wait for my daughters. Just walked out of Adelas after speaking with owner Asia. I showed her my gel pedicure that literally looks like two tone color. Even she thought it was Ombre. Told her no that I'd like my polish changed and corrected. She said if I came back the next day they would have fixed it. But since I work I couldnt go back the next day. Visiting this area and had a gel manicure while my nieces had pedicures. Very clean. Nice people. I like that you get your own file, buffer and spongy thing, of course you get it for $1.00.
