Went in as a walk-in. My first impression was the absolute stench of acetone that nearly knocked me back out the door. I'm not new to nail salons and I realize that there is always an odor of product, but no joke, this was like a WALL of solid cancer air. I almost couldn't breathe. Seriously, please invest in adequate ventilation. You're probably killing your employees. I had a headache after the first 20 minutes.
I'm not really sure why I stayed after that, but I think it had something to do with the positive reviews I read about this salon. It started out alright with the standard foot-bath and a bit of a wait while previous customers were taken care of. In the meantime, the staff were all very friendly and I have zero complaints about them.
The lady that came by to do my pedicure was a little rough and didn't pay attention with the buffer. While working on the underside of my foot, she managed to scrape my ankle-bone twice as she came around the corner, eventually causing it to bleed. The buffer was not new either, but had clearly been used before. Seems kind of unsanitary, especially if my ankle is being scraped bloody with it. She also scraped up my right toe. It's been red for 4 days and my ankle still has a small scab. Super attractive.
Moving on, she applied exfoliant to my legs and just kind of wiped over it a couple of times, not even getting total surface area, or truly "exfoliating". The whole process seemed sloppy and fast. I think she thought I wasn't paying attention because I was reading while she worked. Lady, I can definitely still feel what you're doing...
Lastly she kept messing up when painting my nails, and continuously scraped the excess off with her nails. I don't mean 2 or 3 times. I mean like 15. It got to be pretty painful after a while. The nail polish took an hour and a half to dry (the whole drive home plus an hour) and then began to chip off the following day (1 entire nail worth of polish just FELL off the next morning). I went to pay and despite all this left a $5 tip on a $20 charge. She looked at it, turned around and snapped something at one of the employees behind her, holding out the receipt.
I don't know what she said because no one spoke a word of English the whole time I was in there, and I won't make any claims on it, but for future reference, if you snatch up a customer's receipt, look at it, then immediately turn around and say something in a really hostile tone while holding out the receipt to another employee, it tends to have a negative impression. $5 was still a 25% tip.
I cannot recommend this salon.Read Less
