I've always said that I would never stray from TLA Nails (in Kent) again, butttt I found myself doing just that recently.I went to Southcenter Nails with my aunt recently so that we could get Paraffin Pedicures. It was my first time with a paraffin experience, so I was pretty excited! The salon was very clean and cutely decorated for Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day. All of the staff there were super friendly from the moment we walked in until we left. We came on a Friday afternoon, so there was no wait for the both of us which was nice. The woman who was doing my pedicure was really good about making sure the water wasn't too hot for me at the beginning, and even though it was pretty hot, I told her it was good because once I get used to the heat it feels great. I'm INCREDIBLY ticklish when it comes to my feet. I generally don't let anybody else touch them except for when I'm getting pedicures done, so I was jerking and twitching a lot (completely couldn't help it) and the woman was super nice about it and laughed along with me about it. The foot massages I got through the pedicure were TO DIE FOR. I forgot how amazing foot massages could be but she restored my belief.The paraffin was really cool. The wax was very warm and it was nice to be able to keep our feet in there for a while. I was surprised at how easily it came off! My feet were soooo soft (and still are!) and I'll definitely be doing that again.For polish, I just went with a classic red and she painted them very well. No issues.TLA Nails is kinda far for me now since I've moved, so I think I'm going to give Southcenter Nails a shot with acrylics as well. They're going to my go-to for pedicures for sure, though! I travel for work, and rarely find a nail salon as good as this one. My husband had a spa pedicure, and said it's the best he's had in a very long time. I'm very happy with my fill and polish. Tina is a true nail artist. She is skilled, quick and very artistic. My wedding nails were a very big hit. People in public stop me to look at my nails! My nails were eclectic with each nail having its own unique art and all five nails helped form a spectacular painting. She did 3D design on one, glitter shimmer on another, rhine stones and other rose gold ombre were also used. Gel full set for $40. She made it way too thick and on top of that did four coats. My nails look like bubbles. Thumb nails weren't dry at the end and the lady re-did them and put a fifth coat. It was still smudged looking afterwards. Two days later nails started chipping. Read Less

So my sister and I went on a Sunday to get our nails done with shellac. TWO days later my sister texts me a pic of her nails all messed up and chipped. So we go back on Friday to get them fixed because we work during the week and couldn't get in sooner. The lady remembered us right away because my son was with us but repeatedly asked why we had not called earlier to report the issue. I didn't think it mattered if we couldn't do anything about it until Friday. She said we'd have to pay to get it fixed. I love this place the prices are unbeatable! I've been coming here for almost 10 years, TINA is the best at nails I've been going to her for about 4, I went 3 weeks with no fill & I am a dog groomer so it's a lot of hard labor and crazy dogs not one nail broke or fell off during that time!!I see they have a lot of bad reviews and it is unfortunately because they are VERY busy & will try to fit you in so sometimes people have to wait a little longer than prefered, so I would recommend making an appointment, they're very nice though & always remember names. I rarely get to have my nails done due to my job so when I get a chance I want it to be worth it. I came after work a bit before 5pm and didn't have to wait at all. Tina did a wonderful job! I write this less than 24-hours after getting a "luxury pedicure." Not only was I left sitting in the chair for 30 minutes with a couple of cold towels on my legs and my feet stewing in lukewarm wax while the technician went to start and complete a pedi on someone else, but today the skin on my heels is worse than when I went into Southcenter Nails. Well I arrived on time to packed placed. They said to pick a color and it would only be a little wait. 20 minutes later they take another 630 appt that had been waiting before I even got there, which I was fine with. Well the girl says they just have to clean the door spa and get me right back. Fast forward to 715 and I'm still effing waiting. Why the heck did I even make an appt if I'm waiting 45 minutes and there is NO movement at all!!!! If your establishment is busy tell people the TRUTH!!! Don't say it will just be a minute when I'm still waiting almost an hour later. I had to walk outta this place. I have zero respect for them and will never return!!!! Read Less

First off for my first time it was HORRIBLE. They took almost two hours to do my fills. Not to mention when Kamele is done there are spots missing on my nails underneath my nails never paint horribly done especially for the time that I waited I went back and had them cleaned underneath of my nails and three days after I got them done they broke. Not satisfied at all!!! It was my first time, never ever. Very poor quality of job. Cuticle was not cut property, burrs we're sticking out everywhere. I'm pretty glad, I've choosed very light color, because it was polished terrible, beyond the cuticle and nail. It seems like it was not done be specialist, just by school age girl. I also really like how they offer four different kinds of pedicures and "shellac color only" (the only difference is that they don't cut your cuticles). I definitely recommend this location! Its always a challenge to find a good hair or nail salon. Based on the positive reviews, I really wanted to like this place!Unfortunately, it was no more than a below average nail salon trip. I went for a parrafin manicure. $15 not bad. The customer service was lackluster, the salon smelled like cigarette smoke and one staff member was openly watching movies in the salon. I get it may not be busy but it's still a place of business. Watch your movie in the back or something.My manicurist didn't completely remove the wax off of my hand. And then she asked if I wanted to pay now. I've never heard of having to pay before you're done. If she wanted to save me the trouble of fumbling for cash or card with wet nails, that would be fine if she explained that. She failed to check on me while drying and every salon I've ever been to has checked, even if they are busy or with other customers. I was going to leave a $5 tip but left $3 instead. This is the only nail salon I will go to anymore. They have the best pedicures and amazing nail techs. Everything I get looks amazing and i am always getting compliments. Highly recommended!! I travel a lot for my job and try nail places all the time.  The reviews were decent on Yelp, so I decided to give them a try. When I first entered the business, the staff was welcoming and very nice.  There's nothing special or fancy about this place, it's in a small strip mall near the freeway, but it was convenient for my visit.I started looking over their nail colors, and I always get shellac/gel nails. I saw they had the new chrome  style nail color, so I was excited to try. The overall manicure was pretty good...no complaints there and the color looked really cool when I left, though it wasn't exactly the color I wanted, but it was different and I didn't really have the time to have them fix it just over the color. I pay the $35 for the manicure, plus $5 tip and leave pretty happy. Well, that's when the problem starts the day AFTER I got the manicure. First, the color started coming off the tips almost immediately the next day, which shouldn't be happening. So, I stopped by to see if they could fix it, but they were booked and asked if I could return in an hour. I didn't have the time to return unfortunately and so I ended up not getting it fixed at all, which I think was a good thing in the end because it showed the quality of their work.In less than a week, my chrome shellec/gel manicure was cracking, the tips completely wearing off and it just looked bad. I really expected more, since most shellac/gel manicure will last at least two weeks, sometimes three weeks, if you're very easy on your hands, etc. So, from my experience, I wasn't very impressed. Maybe they do a better job with the standard manicure/pedicure, but with the Chrome style...don't waste your money. I ended up having to go to another place to get the Chrome re-done too. Will I return here...unfortunately,  I would have to say no. It's not worth the risk of spending money, only to have it wasted on substandard work. Read Less

There are at least 20 nail salons between my house and Southcenter Nails, but every time I go anywhere else I am totally dissapointed - they've set a high bar!The nail techs are super friendly and fast, without sacrificing quality. They always give me exactly what I want and then some. They have a lot of choices for nail art - holidays, Seahawks, etc - but are always up for trying something new when I find fun pictures online.Speaking of Seahawks - they always have the games on, so I don't have to miss out on any of the action!They also have great waxing services. I have super sensitive skin and usually break out if wax is used above my brow. These guys have a special sensitive type of wax (I can't remember what it's called) that never does that. Over the last year I have given this place tons of business, I have referred multiple friends who brought in friends & family of their own.... including my entire wedding party coming in for full sets with designs on every nail, pedicures some with designs on every toe & eyebrow waxing. When I went on my honeymoon my wife & I went in & did the same thing.... just last Saturday my wife & I went in for her birthday. She got a pedicure & an eyebrow waxing, I got a full set with a design & stone on two fingers. The gal that helped me did a shotty job.... which always seems to be the case unless I get the owner's wife, Tracy. When I told her I was unhappy ahe got upset so when it still wasn't right I just dealt with it & left unhappy.... 3 hours later one of the stones fell off. Monday (not even two full days later) the corner of my thumb nail broke off. I called in & Tracy answered. She told me to come down & they'd fix it right away. So after my eife was out of school we went down there. I had already decided to let her know that as much as I loved her & her husband I didn't want the other girls to work on me or I was going to find a new shop. Speaking to her husband a while back he had told me customer service is important to them & as long as they keep their customers happy they know they'll always have business. I felt valued. This day..... I did not. I got there & there was one girl waiting for a fullset & pedicure. Tracy saw me & said you have to wait for her to be done. I asked how long & she said an hour as she walked away, very clearly irritated with me. I said it's just one nail. There were 4 girls in the shop & she didn't even bother to let the other girl know.... Hey, we messed her up & need to right our wrong. I said it's okay. I'll just go somewhere else. She yelled at me as I left. I couldn't believe I just gave her $60 of my money two days prior as well as a year's worth of business & referrals & she treared me like that..... I called afterwards to get her husband, the owner's number so that I could talk to him & she yelled ALOT & cut me off, talked over me then hung up on me all as I was speaking calmly telling her I didn't appreciate her cutting me off. So I called back & she screamed at me that she would not let me contact him..... I called a third time ahe answered yelling "What?!" at me. I told her I wanted to speak to her husband because I knew he cared about his customers. She screamed "we can't make all customers happy all the time!" & hung up on me a third time. So I found him on Facebook & will also be sending this review to him. All I wanted was to feel valued. I just lost that money because my nails were ruined in two days & the people responsible made it out to be my fault. Now... I would just like my money back to find a new shop where I do feel valued..... sadly, I don't feel like I'll even get that respect.... Read Less
