My daughter in law & I  went for pedicures together today and had the good fortune to have Elaine take care of us. Elaine was delightful, professional, efficient and our pedicures turned out perfect! The salon is atmosphere is very relaxing, has spectacular views of the Spokane river and I love the vintage decor of the historic building.  We all had fun shopping at the other shops in the historic flour mill building. I randomly called in to see if they had an extremely last minute appointment, and luckily for me they did! I saw Kayla for a full set of acrylics and she did amazing!! Loved the atmosphere. Called a few days in advance to schedule pedicures for three people. When we got there, we had to wait a bit. -no real concern. I get it, things happen. When it was our turn we walked around the curtain to find there was only one chair for a pedicure! I thought that was insane! How do you schedule three people for the same time but only have one chair? We ended up rotating and just getting a manicure to kill time even if it wasn't what we initially wanted. The ladies were great and very personable! It just isn't a place for more than one job at a time, in case you were wanting a successful girls day. Jennie at Marguerite's is amazing nail tech. This nail salon has a great Atmosphere with wonderful ladies. They make you very comfortable. Very bad experience.  The lady seemed scattered and unprofessional. Said they did pedicures with gel polish however, she acted like she never really had. Didn't know where to plug the light in, was unable to remove previous gel polish. Poor attempt to soak it off then resorted to her drill which malfunctioned. When choosing a polish color, was told she didn't have the one I wanted. Upon deciding to leave due to all of this I was told I would be charged for the half-ass job of polish removal. Upon telling her to proceed, she stated that she had the right to refuse my service. Really?? Find another salon for your pedicure. Read Less

I started going to this shop back in 2007, when Marguerite owned it. I always went to Elaine. I wanted nails for prom, and having gone to those nail sweat shops before and going through painful experiences, I was a little timid but the boutique sounded promising. As soon as I walked in, it felt like a family get-together! Everyone was smiling, all the nail artists and  clients were talking to one another, and you were offered a drink. That same atmosphere welcomes you every time, 8 years later. It honestly feels like 'home'. I've tried other places in Spokane and Spokane Valley but I cannot see myself anywhere else. Elaine does classy nails, and she offers plenty of fun, exciting and low-key polish colors... REAL polish. They validate parking so no need to worry about meters. It's always a good idea to book in advance because hey, she's amazing at her craft and therefore is a busy woman! They have cute handbags for sale, too! A hidden gem in Spokane, but so worth it. Let me start out by saying that this woman is the NICEST person ever! Such a warm and inviting place! However, I was looking for a younger style gel/shellack manicure. Elaine as a person is great!! But I probably won't go back to get my nails done. Her little shop is great and relaxing. Amazing view. But the quality of my nails is not what I expected for the higher end price. I got acrylic nails and a pedicure. My acrylic nails are clouded and the white and the pink mixed or something. Some of my nails weren't even all the way covered. I also was trying to pick off all the super glue that was on my skin under and around the nails for about a day or two. My pedicure looks fine, but it was definitely rushed and when you look at the polish, it's not covering my whole nails. When I get a pedicure I like that they clean up the skin around the nails and the cuticles, but that wasn't really done here. And my mom got gel nails and a pedicure. The first day it was curling up and starting to come up. She says that her gel has a warranty but it's almost not worth it to go back and have it not done well again. She only has one pedicure chair so don't go with a friend. And at the end we wrote a check out directly to her which was a little odd to me. The reason I give it two starts is not because I didn't like her, the building, or the shop, it's simply because when I make a review it's about what the shop actually does for you. Elaine Johnston is THE BEST nail tech I have EVER had! If you go to those other nail salons where the employees are wearing a mask, but dont offer YOU one, first of all thats a bad sign! Ive been going to Elaine at Marguerites for 2 years now, and not once have I left with nail dust in my lungs. The ladies who work there are so incredibly nice and make you feel like youve walked into your best friends house.
