I am from Dallas visiting the area on vacation. I asked around to where was a good place to stop in for a mani-pedi and was recommeded to Mimi's. I was thankful they took walk-ins, but was honestly surprised of the number of customers there on an early Monday morning...seems like many retired folks in this town! There were three very kind ladies working that morning and easily worked me in. I was impressed with their kindness and customer service they knew almost every customer by name! Mimi's apparently has a good relationship with the women in this community! Facility was nice, but smaller (four spa pedicure chairs and four seats for manicures)..smaller than the nail salons in the Dallas area that usually have 8+ spa chairs and more staff. I had called ahead for an appointment and the appointment started 45 minutes late. Another customer had an appointment after me and was using a walker and was vividly upset. The woman and man employee were speaking in their language and laughing at the upset customer. They made it so obvious. These people are mean and I will absolutely never go there again. The woman doing my nails asked me thousands of personal questions and I was appalled at the lack of professionalism. Also they hassle customers about using cash not a credit card even though they accept credit cards. They keep asking, “you have cash? You have cash?” - this is a very rude establishment. Read Less

About two years ago a dear friend Dixie gave me a gift certificate to this salon. I had intended only a regular manicure that I accepted would only last a few days with my brittle nails. To my surprise, Jimmy suggested a GEL nail and so it goes. This is my own nail but it's the polish they use that makes it "bullet proof". I can literally scrub pots and pans in the kitchen sink and NEVER get a chip. It easily lasts 2-3 weeks. The price for a REGULAR manicure is $14 and the GEL is $30.....I will never have anything but GEL in the future. Jimmy guaranteed the new GEL would not chip for a week.....it's lasts easily 2 weeks......Never anything but GEL for me. Thanks Jimmy and of course my pal Dixie!!! They do take walk ins and if you are on a schedule where a short wait might happen, better find another place. Many of us are retired in Sequim and have plenty of time and a 5-10 min. wait is no big thing.. Very friendly group; you have to admire them for coming to a foreign country, with English as their second language and demonstrate the work ethic most Americans use to have. They work 6 days a week, 9 hours a day......very, very hard workers. For the first couple of years they worked 7 days a week and then apologized for taking Sunday off.....great team.... Extremely rude to my coworker yesterday when she asked if they had room for two pedicures. Said they were too busy even though they only had two customers in being serviced. Went to luckys nails for pedicures instead. Sat in with 6 other people who were being serviced by two nail techs and got done with much efficiency, 30 minutes at most. My gel pedi turned out beautiful. I won’t be doing my business with mimi’s any longer unfortunately. Read Less

I give 2 stars for the simple fact that Mimi herself does great nail work. I have had the hardest time finding a decent nail salon on the peninsula; Miami's is the 3rd place. I tried Mimi's once, she did a great job. I came back, she did another great job! The only thing that frustrated me was the wait time. A 45-minute acrylic fill takes almost 2 hours because they're so unorganized and crowded. I came back for a third time and was treated horribly. Jimmy barked orders at me and made me feel stupid. When it was time to wash my hands, I used the preferred sink and sat down - but he had started a manicure on somebody else and continued to do that for quite some time while I waited. I'm pregnant so, naturally, I had to use the bathroom - made that quick, washed my hands and when I came out he scolded me for washing my hands again!! He turned a fan on and told me to put my hands in front of it to dry. Literally for ten minutes while he finished the other lady's manicure. He was so rude to me and so nice to everyone else, I felt awful because I couldnt figure out what I had done to make him treat me that way. I've been doing my nails for 16 years - and I've NEVER had someone do that. After an hour and a half he finished and they were SO BAD. I looked like o had dinosaur hands, and not to mention THEY ALL BROKE - within a week. UGH where the heck do I get my nails done in this place?? Read Less

There were only two techs. Jimmy the nail tech working on me was overly pushy with the personal questions. There were five ladies backed up with scheduled appointments... would NOT reccomend. *after getting home and looking at it it is THE WORST pedicure I’ve ever gotten. My nails are unevenly filed and one edge of one is unpainted. Probably take polish off and doing it myself. Bummer since I get the opportunity for a grandparent to watch the kids and a pedicure twice a year. Read Less

I have NEVER, not once, had my nails done here. Not for lack of trying. Four times I've made an appointment and four times after waiting over 30 minutes past my appointment time I've left. This morning was timed for a wedding (I only tried it one more time here because there were four of us and I thought we could all have it done at the same time to have a pre-wedding experience. They had no one available to do three of us). That's my last time. Lucky Nails down the street is much better. Read Less

I've tried it three times now....I waited over 30 minutes and I had an appointment!  Way too crowded with poor service.  Chaotic, loud, and staff barking at people as to where to sit; there wasn't even enough chairs for those waiting.  My pedicure was rushed, she made no attempt to communicate with me except barking at me as to what to do. I don't even know why one bothers to make an appointment!   And very few choices if decent polish colors for pedicures. I won't try again. Read Less

Sorry, manicure was nice but ended up in the ER while on vacation with a massively infected ingrown toenail after the pedicure. Required lancing, antibiotics and I'm still dealing with a painful toe 8 days later. Next thing might be surgery. I wouldn't go back there if you paid me. Read Less

The workers are always friendly and remember the customers. I feel pampered. I get pedicures and eyebrow/lip waxing so I cannot speak to the reviews about manicures. Yes they are busy and you may be there awhile but I have gotten to meet other people that way. Read Less

I've been coming to Mimi's for about 3 months with consistently great service. Nice staff, clean and great quality. Leaving on vacation and forgot to schedule an appointment. They nicely opened early to accommodate me on their busiest day! Such great customer service! Read Less

What I liked: Seemed new-ish, clean, friendly staff and all orientation of chairs is facing the street so you can look out  (rather than looking at a wall)Jimmy: OMG he is so caring and conscientious. Super nice guy and does a thoughtful careful job. He asks a few questions but isn't interested in my life story and I appreciated that. Small talk is overrated and Jimmy understands that.What can be improved: Not much! Shoot, first time visit they gave me a card which allows me to potentially get $5 off if I visit there 5 or 6 times. Who else does that in Sequim? Ummm no one???!I read the reviews first and was a little taken aback by some of the negative reviews but I figured I would try them. Honestly the last person who did my nails in Sequim put some kind of evil superglue Shellac causing poor Jimmy to use a freaking drill just to remove the crap. Unacceptable but Jimmy assured me that would not happen with Mimi's and I believe him. He was so careful about removing the last shellac job. I will be back! Read Less

Mimi and Jimmy are beyond disrespectful. They offer appts and don't call you when they're late, which is 100% of the time. Today my niece and I each had a 4:30p appt. which they gave when I called @ 3:15p. We arrived and they said nothing about how long we would need to wait. Finally I asked. We were told it would be another 45 min. They need to stop offering appts and use a call ahead list, like salons do. And they need to at least have the manners to apologize.  People have school commitments, doctor appts and family schedules. Read Less

Had an appointment on Saturday at 11 for a simple manicure.  Got there are 5 minutes to 11.  Very crowded.  Asked the owner how long it might be since they were so busy.  She said just a few minutes.  So I waited while a woman walked in at 11 and asked for a pedicure.  She had no appointment.  At 11:15 a staff member told me to come to the chair for a pedicure but I told her I was there for my nails.  Now this was the same woman who gave me a manicure about 2 weeks ago so she didn't do only pedicures.  Instead of taking me to the manicure table to work on my nails, she called the walk in woman and told  her she'd start her pedicure for her.  I was left standing there.  Seeing that none of the technicians were anywhere near done, I walked out at 11:20 with no manicure.  Too bad as they do a wonderful job once you get in a chair.  But they overbook and take too many walk ins. Mimi and her brother Jimmy are the very best nail specialists I've ever encountered and their procedures and equipment meet a very high standard of cleanliness. As an RN I can tell you I am not easily impressed  by infection control management in a nail salon.  In addition to first rate cleanliness, Mimi's has unbeatable ventilation - try to find a chemical odor in that shop!  Mimi and Jimmy understand the hazards to their health and ours when a nail salon is poorly ventilated.This brother and sister team are outstanding professionals.  I had a nail gel manicure and it was beautifully and skillfully applied and best yet it looks the same as it did when I left the shop 8 days ago!Mimi and Jimmy are warm and friendly and kept me laughing and happy throughout my visit.
