Flammable on Sunday nights is Seattle's weekly house night and a home for the weirdos and freaks. I close my eyes and when I open them, there are people on stage, voguing at each other. Close them again, open, and there are break dancers forming a circle behind me. People of all ages and backgrounds are here to dance. Hit the red light! Make it swing! This place can get to be a jungle the way people move around so freely. I have had some of my favorite dancing moments in this bar, and the vibe is always right. Exactly the kind of people that are dancing because they love to dance. People playing music because they love to play. The sound can be eh, the bar is cash only, the bathrooms are unisex (or maybe I've just been treating them that way?) and I always leave drenched in sweat from dancing my heart out. Feel lucky to have found this "hole-in-the-wall" space in this city of new. Look forward to checking out more events here :) Read Less

After going to yesterday's Collide-o-Scope and experiencing the atmosphere and general feel of the bar, this is definitely going to be my go-to spot for at least every second Monday. Welcome to the Denny Triangle neighborhood, home of a hundred zillion new and tall and shiny and giant and expensive buildings...tucked down below some of them is the venerable old Re-Bar, and for those of you interested in preservation of Seattle's grittier side, do what you can to support the Re-Bar as it applies for historic landmark status and tries to withstand the march of development from South Lake Union. Seattle is losing its cool divey spots left and right and it would be a shame to lose this one, a true bastion of diversity and counterculture that we need now more than ever......but I digress. Re-Bar is home to some of the coolest, wonderfulest events and acts in town, and none are more cool wonderful than the amazing Dina Martina. I've been to many of Dina's Christmas shows and summertime performances, and I'm guaranteed about 5 or 6 laughs per minute. I leave her shows with sore, exhausted laughter muscles all about my face and torso, despite the numbing effects of Re-Bar's paint-strippingly strong cocktails. Dina Martina is the most entertaining entertainer I have ever seen, bar none. Go see her, and in particular, go see her at Re-Bar's Place while it's still possible. And even if you can't see her here, check out something at the Re-Bar, and endorse its lovable weirdness and continued existence. Reposted from FB after going to Aphrodite at ReBar the other night. Shout out to the bartender the other night at ReBar. Middle of the busy rush and he takes a good minute and a half to pour straight whiskey, add bourbon whiskey, lime, ice, muddle, combine with ginger beer, cap, mix, pour over fresh ice and garnish with another limeI had to stop and tell him I'd never seen anybody in Seattle take the time to make that drink the way it should be.  I gave him almost the cost of the drink in tip for actually knowing his craft and not just throwing too much cheap whiskey in the bottom of a glass with 7up and a drop of bitters on top while charging me $10 for said drink. Sunday nights at Rebar are called Flammable, run by DJ Brian Lyons. It's one of the longest running house music nights in the country & always the best music in town. The vibe at Flammable is fantastic. People from every walk of life, gay/straight black/white young/older come together with one objective: to dance! This gathering can practically be a religious experience, so we call it "church." People giving thanks, coming together to shake off their worries & find joy, in the music, in each other, in their hearts. Sometimes they have local talent, other nights they bring in headliners from the US & around the globe. One thing's for sure, it's always a good time. Read Less

The performance was located in the back of the bar, which was a spacious area with a pretty large stage. We only caught the last 5 minutes, and we stayed at the bar so we didn't really know what was going on.While at the bar, I ordered a Stella Artois (cash only!) The bartender lady was probably the most unhappiest bartender I have ever encountered. Because of that I already felt unwelcomed. Excellent Venue for the Industrial & Cyber-Punk Music Fans[CAVEAT:  my experience at this venue is only on the monthly Thursday night event, so take that into consideration with my review.] SITREPTucked away on Howell Street in the Downtown Seattle grid is this joint where some great music takes place.   It's pretty non-descript and divy, but it is a great hole-in-the-wall.And since I often find myself staying downtown at Wyndham hotel or the Homewood Suites I-5, this is one dam short hike for me to get out of the room for some nice STOMPY-TIME!THE SET-UPThe 2nd Thursday of each month is the great Industrial night of MECHANISMUS.  This makes for a busy late night of Industrial-EBM music that is definitely worth catching.  The music sets are outstanding by DJs SAVAK, V.O.M. and Omega Brain.  They know how to power-up the dance-floor and give new meaning to the phrase "Floor-Quake."Even by myself I always have a great time hanging out here, but most of the I am lucky enough to catching up with friends in the local Seattle Industrial, Cyber-Punk, and Dark Wave scenes.  One time I chatted up with a cute personable vixen, only to find out it was music-promoter Rachel Haywire.  THAT made for a very entertaining night!THE LOWDOWNFor an excellent stompy time in the Industrial music scene, check out Re-Bar on the 2nd Thursday nights fersure. Re-bar is the best theater because it isn't a theater - it's a bar. They do what every theater in Seattle strives to do: present some of Seattle's funnest, cutting edge, and original theater - without pretense or stuffiness. The Reason they succede where others fail is because it is a bar first and foremost; so when you go to theater at Re-bar and you find yourself, mid-beer, watching a great piece of theater, it totally catches you off gaurd; all of a sudden you can't pull yourself away to refill the beer you didn't realize you had already finnished. And they do all kinds of different events and plays so I beleive that, at some point, every body will see something they like at Re-bar; be it rock musicals like Hedwig and the Angry Inch to the ridiculousness of The Brown Derby Series to artsy rock/concept shows like the band Awesome's play/concert ""Delaware"" to the campy sensibilty of choral ensemble Captain Smartypants, or maybe the one-night-only monthly events like Burlesque shows or the newest craze, The Seattle Spelling Bee - what ever it is it'll go well with booze! It says something that On The Boards, an incredibly a well funded and nationally respected performing arts center, has picked up at several shows and artists that made their debut at not so well funded nor internationally respected Re-bar. So go to Re-bar to see the best local talent in the coolest shows (sure every now and again you get a lemon, but at worst you have drink and have something to talk about afterwards between dancing to that nights DJ). You never know what you'll get at Re-bar, I guess that's part of the fun, but I have found that more than often you'll see a gem that you wouldn't have seen anywhere else in Seattle! I love this place and think of it as one of Seattle's character defining places! Read Less

Prince and associated artists go toe-to-toe on the dance floor against Michael and the Jackson family during this ultimate dance party! The face-off always promises to be a dance marathon - ""Black Sweat"" takes a swing at ""PYT (Pretty Young Thing),"" only to be pounded by ""Wanna Be Starting Somethin,"" which had better watch it's back when ""Kiss"" comes around. This event was conceived four years by Bomb Hip-Hop who have successfully produced many of these parties in San Francisco and even one in Bend (Oregon) last year.

Read Less

Went here on a Sunday night upon a recommendation of a local. There was a drag show going on with a very small audience. Read Less
