This place was not what I expected from a 4 star salon. After reading some reviews I called ahead and made a reservation for 5:45. Got a weird text from some random number asking if I could come in earlier, not long after making the appointment. We arrived, and there was only one woman working (who was visibly sick). Btw the area of this salon is super shady. We had to get shellac manicures one at a time(because she was the only one there). Not a big deal but she rushed through them. The polish is cute but it's SO thick and feels like globs at the ends of my fingers. Hygiene isn't a priority here because she used the same tool on both of us. (NOT HYGIENIC AT ALL) the place was also dusty and cramped. And the hand/forearm "massage" is her slapping some lotion on and calling it a day. She also asked if the person on the TV show we were watching looked 'Mexican' to us. After reading a former review it's safe to say she's a racist. Don't get your nails done here!! Read Less

Right when I arrived at the shop, 3 nail techs swarmed me and didn't even give me a chance to pick out my color. She asked me what shape and length I wanted and I said "a medium length coffin" lol I got far from that. She also cut me several times and missed several spots on my nails with the acrylic. Awesome detail and service. Star Nails is a best kept nail secret in Puyallup. She does the work on her own (not sure why the other reviewer talks about so many employees, as she is a one woman show). But she has awesome attention to detail, and is very good at acrylic/shellac nails. I have been searching the South End for a great nail tech and finally found one. Read Less

I came here based on the reviews from Yelp and I am so glad I did. As long as I'm in this area, I will not go to any other nail salon. I like Chita's spunky personality, and she does an exceptional job. She is upfront about pricing, very attention to detail, considerate of requests for shaping, color and length of nails, and is incredibly consistent in the quality work she does. My mom and I came in on a saturday evening for pedi's and we were the only ones there so that was a plus! The lady working, who is also the owner, was very nice. She was friendly and took the time to get to know us. However.... Since there was only one worker, only one pedi at a time, which was fine. The pedi itself was not the best. She cut my nails WAY too short. The best part about a pedi is the foot massage which didn't happen here. She used body scrub on our calves for about 10 seconds and put lotion on and that was it. There was no foot massage!! As for the polish, she pretty much slapped it on and i have polish on my skin on some of my toes. Ugh. The WORST part is sanitation does NOT exist here. She shared the same tools between my mom and I and the tools looked very used and dingy.. gross.Also, after i already paid, saw a pedi was $18 but she charged me $20 for both plus i gave her a tip because thats just the right thing to do. Im really sad because the lady was so nice but man, that was probably one of the worst pedis I've ever gotten :( Read Less

I read a lot of reviews before coming here and was hoping for great results since I always use Yelp before going somewhere new. My nails were cut extremely short (I just wanted them smoothed out- I already have short nails and didn't need them chopped down) and now the tips of my fingers are sore because they are so short and sensitive skin is exposed. Not to mention the tips are already chipping just 6 hours later. :/ Read Less

You can always tell when business owners have pride on their work.  I walked by in here without an appt one morning because I needed a quick pedicure.  Chita greeted me friendly and attended to me quickly.  The place is small but quaint.  She said it's just her and her husband and she gave her husband the day off because it's a holiday :) she did a thorough job on my pedicure it was very clean and she even recommended lotion for my very dry heels.  I also needed eye brow wax but wasn't going to do it until it's grown out a little bit.  She said it's grown enough :p   she also did a touch up wax on my lip and chin.  While there I went ahead and splurge for manicure.  Just cleaning no nail polish as I work with my hands a lot.  I had pedicure, manicure, eyebrow wax and lip wax all for $45.  She did a great job and I will definitely come back and bring my mom with me for girls day.  She recommended making an appt as she mention there is only two of them.  And for those with ingrown nails she knows how to take care of that too.  The service is good and the price even better.  It's definitely my new place to get nails and waxing done. Chita is my new favorite. I showed up last night just before closing time, fully expecting to be turned away. She took me in, did my fill and pedi, fixed all the issues that the last place created, and was a lovely person the whole time. Her family hung out there also, and they were kind and funny. This is the best place in Tallahassee. I've followed Kim to a few different places over the years, but she has finally opened her own place! She's amazing and will make sure you get the personal attention you deserve - not like the other places in town that started out small and grew into a cattle - herding mess.
