Today was my first time at The Cottage. I made my appt with Bridget and she did an amazing job on my hair!! The process took a lot longer than we both thought, but it was so worth it! I had a cut and balayage done at The Cottage Salon February 2018 and it was overall very expensive and disappointing. At first, I really loved the color and cut, but that quickly changed. After about 1 week, the color faded- which I've never had happen with a balayage. The cut was still what I wanted, but I couldn't get over paying over $200 for a color that didn't last. I can't say enough great things about Bridgette and the service she provided for me a couple weeks ago!! She totally saved the day, even though it took her well into her evening hours! I called her on a Monday, hoping to find an expert in color correction after a horrendous experience with another stylist out of town. Trust me it was bad! Bridgette graciously fit me into her schedule that evening at 7 pm. From the time I walked in the door until the time I walked out (after... 11 pm!) I felt not only welcomed and comfortable, but totally pampered. There is no doubt that she is a total color master as she was able to bring my awful red color & purple highlighted mess back to a beautiful, deep mahogany with an almost eggplant tint. Not only is the color awesome, but my hair is in amazing shape, soft and silky even after the processes we had to do to get the red out. She was also able to salvage my butchered bangs, yes really. I will never go anywhere else when I'm in this area, ever! The salon offers an extensive line of other services to choose from as well. Heidi did Micrblading on my brows. I was super nervous, it is your face, if it gets messed up there's really nothing you can do. First impression when I walked into her room, it was sterile and clean. I liked that! She was knowledgeable in her field, took a lot of time making sure they were the perfect shape for my face, measured, took pics, more measurements. I have extremely thick, frizzy, dried out hair from all the bleaching I’ve done to my hair the past few years and I’ve been trying to find something that will help my hair look and feel healthy again. And, I found it!! I recently had a Chi-Enviro Smoothing treatment done by Bridget at The Cottage Salon in Mount Vernon. She was having a special on it so I thought, “Why not? I can at least TRY it, Right?!” I’m so glad I did! Before the treatment it would take me about 30 minutes to blow dry my hair and another 30 minutes to straighten it. After the treatment the blow out time is about 15 minutes AND the best part is I would feel comfortable walking out the door without using my flat iron, the frizz is about 90% gone, literally, which also cuts down the straightening time as well. -Julia Davenport Read Less

I've been going to Crystal R. for 5+ years. I've tried other places, other people, and I never get the result I want, so now where Crystal goes, I follow. The atmosphere at The Cottage Salon is very welcoming.  There is no pressure to buy products, no pressure on the staff to hurry from client to client, and all the stylists get along and involve each other in opinions on color and cut. I came in once on a self proclaimed 'bad day' and was offered a glass of chilled wine - um, yes please! I like to fly by the seat of my pants and make appointments randomly, and I always get worked in quickly. I even made an end-of-day appointment for a cut, and when I arrived I asked if Crystal could add color to my appointment,  and she did!  I've seen what the other girls can do, and they are all incredible stylists. Definitely not a place for fades.The place is small, the ladies are very welcoming and seem to do a good job with the whole salon thing, but there definitely not barbers.
