I went to J’adore because I recently moved to Elgin and thought I would try their waxing services instead of trekking to my usual spot on Bank. I cannot say how disappointed I was. I paid way too much for how poor the Brazilian wax was. It took the aesthetician an HOUR to complete it. I went yesterday for my birthday with the intent to 'spoil myself' (I rarely spend this kind of money on myself) getting an hour massage, detox facial, and a manicure. If I could take anything back, I wouldn't have gotten the massage or facial. When my sister and I first got there, there were no other customers, and both staff that were in the store left the room leaving my sister and I sitting at the bar wondering what was happening. Eventually they offered us tea, which we ...had one sip of and then were brought to our rooms, they closed the door and really didn't say much. The lady giving me my massage had her phone in the room and on vibrate so it kept going off, unfortunately she was sick but kept sniffling throughout the entire massage, I could hear the loud music outside the room more than I could the 'relaxing' music inside, the room was cool (and small), and then little things with the massage still left me feeling like it wasn't worth the money at all. Then, the facial started. All of the sudden the lady who was giving me the massage (who again, was sick) had her face right close to mine and suddenly I was even more aware of the fact that the air I was breathing in was the air she was breathing out... and then for the entire facial I found myself restricting my breathing and trying to find some sort of relaxation to make myself feel better about it all. On the plus side, my skin does feel like it can breathe, leaving me happy with the extraction process of the facial. The manicures were nice, was fun to be at the bar with friends and the manicures overall were well done. I do plan on going back, but the only things I would pay for would be either another manicure and some drinks, or I would be open to getting a pedicure. Unfortunately the manicure barely lasted a week. As soon as I left, one of the nails got bumped and the polish got all messed up. I assumed because I was told to leave that the polish had dried :( Definitely won't be going back, not worth the money if it doesn't even last an hour. Everywhere else I've gone I've always left with a guarantee that your polish was done and got a full service experience- I felt like they were rushing me out and didn't give me the heads up that I should watch out for the next while and it got messed up because of it as soon as I left. I visited the J'adore Beauty Bar & Lounge earlier this week with a friend for manicures. The service was subpar at best. The estheticians were not very friendly or welcoming. At no point were we offered to purchase a drink from their bar- a feature that they highlight online. One of the estheticians stopped the service halfway in order to do a pedicure on another customer as they had overbooked (we also had made appointments). My esthetician quickly wrapped up my manicure to ...finish my friends. It felt rushed. There were also other minor service flaws and the whole experience felt awkward. It was disappointing especially considering the $50 price tag for a manicure. I called to complain and felt that it was not taken seriously as I was not asked my name, time of appointment, or who my esthetician was. Hopefully, I receive a response to this complaint. Went there initially for SNS nails with Jenny and left very happy. I decided to go back for a pedicure and left disappointed. I had called and asked before to confirm they would remove all the dead skin off my heels during the pedicure. The lady on the phone assured me that they would so I decided to try. My heels were rubbed with what looked to be a pumice bar for less than a minute and no calluses removed. My feet looked the exact same after my appointment. After repeated requests for explanation we were offered a partial refund. However, after that point phone messages and emails have not been replied to and no refund has ever been processed. I gave this place a try because it was close by and I could walk over. It was a hot day and upon entering, it felt really hot and humid inside which is unpleasant. The salon is big, but it is outdated and the pedicure chairs are old and uncomfortable. I was in that chair for 1.5 hours because of the long wait and I had back pain and bottom pain.I walked in during the early afternoon before most people are off work and it was not too busy. Two people were working on one person while I waited for almost 20 minutes for a technician. The nail technician did not speak any English so it was difficult to communicate with her. She did a pretty good job, but everything took a very long time and considering the fact that I already had to wait for 20+ minutes and then sitting through a 1.5 hour service all in one sitting + a hot room, it was pretty hard and I couldn't wait to get out.  Overall, there seemed to be a lack of concern for the customer and small details that make your mani/pedi experience great were clearly missing. Such a great concept. Very relaxing yet fun environment and the decor is beautiful. Bar menu and service menus are great. The bar menu has a good selection with unique cocktails. Not the best experience. Manicure seemed rushed, the lady didn't take her time at all to make sure everything was done to my liking. I tried to tell her I didn't like the shape she gave my nails, but she didn't speak a word of English so we couldn't communicate at all. They had great customer service, did a long massage, gave us free water bottles, a complementary hot wax and they were great to my boyfriend who got a pedi and mani for the first time. I can't go back. The second time I was hurt and poorly done because I wouldn't upgrade my services. The tech made me bleed twice, was talking in another language rudely over my shoulder and not paying attention when she was filing. She made me jump in my seat in pain.It is rude no matter how many nails they do to not pay attention and to speak in another language while working on clients. They have lost my business for ever. I'm someone who will blatantly ignore bad yelp reviews of nail salons, writing them off as people with insanely high standards. In this case WOW I regret ignoring the bad reviews. I have been to a ton of nail salons as I keep up with my acrylics, and have for a few years. This place does them right. Many salons have made my acrylics look very cheap and rushed. Most salons. Nail & You always makes them look very nice and professional, and they stay in good shape for longer than other salons. My manicure was extremely streaky and the nail tech made my cuticles bleed. I would never go back. While the price was good, it was nowhere NEAR worth leaving with bloody fingers, which are now scabbed and look just awful. I couldn't believe it when I looked down and one of my fingers was dripping blood onto the towel. The nail tech acted like it was no big deal! Wrong. I went here because I was in the area and needed a pedi.... I usually go to diamond nails which I love! Big mistake here... The lady took 90 minutes to do a pink & white fill... Did a horrible job... Super thick... Later on I noticed she used a glitter clear coat (not my taste) and put the pink on second which caused it to go over the white part.... They were ok but nothing to brag about. We made a appt for 4 mani pedi's for a bridal party. One of the bridesmaids didn't get started on until the other 3 were done as they over booked. Previous management has been okay but the place is now under new management and it's actually a big improvement! The ladies there are great, super nice and skilled. Lena and Amy are great owners, albeit their little English. You can tell that they put a lot of effort into their services and are patient with customers. I saw a customer that came in once that tried to switch colors/coats THREE times and Lena was very helpful and patient with them, doing whatever she could to keep the customer happy and satisfied. Which, i found, was very professional. The mani pedis are great and prices are amazing for the location!!! Walk-ins are welcomed but you can also call in for appointments. Appointment times are flexible and very open to your schedule. Overall, I would say that the place is a vast improvement from the previous owner. IMO, You get what you paid for!Overall the place and all the chairs there are dated.  Service is average.  Price is the BEST for DT Kirkland.  $30 for both mani (french tip) + pendi is absolutely a deal!!The quality of job is acceptable only if you are not picky.  The top coat over my french tip isn't even.  The gal did a good job on cutting my cuticle though.  I recommend to go there only if you are lazy doing your own nails but don't want to spend much.
