I had had decent pedicures here in the past.  However today I had the worst manicure I have ever had.  My nails are filed all crooked and look horrible.  One of them has already broken because of the way she filed them - and I had them done less than 7 hours ago!  They also smell like chemicals - something I've never experienced before.  Finally the person who did my nails had filthy hands and nails.  It was absolutely the worst experience ever. Really not happy about going to this place. I gave them THREE chances. First time my sister and I made an appointment for pedicures and she got hers done 15 min after our scheduled time and I was still waiting for half our. She got finished before I even got mine started. So I ended up not getting one. I went there to give it another try. I got gel nails and about an hour after I left I noticed I could see my nail through the color. It wasn't thick enough so I went back. They were busy so I went back the next day. They fixed my nails then 3 days later they started to peel from my cudicle. I wasn't happy with that since I only have hem on for three days. They took them off and was going to charge me. I said no I'm not happy with my nails I would like my money back. I went back two days later to talk to the owner and the manager said she wasn't in (after another a player said she was, so she LIED to me) the manager said she wouldn't give me my money back. Absolutely horrible I paid them and was unhappy with my nails. Couldn't give me my money back because it was "unfair" to the lady who did my nails (after I tipped as well). Just horrible they kept my money after I gave them three chances. Don't ever expect your money back if they do a bad job. RESPONSE TO THE OWNER- I never said I was unhappy with my color. I never asked for a color change. The coat I had was not thick enough so you could see my nails. I asked for an extra cost which should have been done correctly the first time. I can't say enough about VIP Nails and how great they are. Cathy helped me out with my nails this morning, the person at the last place I went for a gel manicure left my nails paper thin. She drilled or sanded off two layers of nail leaving them in really bad shape and tearing. Cathy really took care of them for me and hopefully we are on the right track to getting them healthy. Really great atmosphere! Walked in for a gel mani and was seated right away. They have a nice selection of colors. Manicure was meh- trim cuticles, file and quickly rub some oil on your hands. No hand massage or anything like that. Paint job was OK. I asked her to do three coats of color and she did. Clear top coat was way too much. It was all over my cuticles and even on the tip of my finger under the tip of my nail. I was really afraid of it peeling off, especially since she filed my nails after all the painting was done (isn't it supposed to be sealed??) so we will see! For a 28.00 pedicure I was very disappointed!! The massage is the best part right? The massage was quick and done half heartedly. Foot scrub was done quickly and too lightly. When I got home I realized some nails were not filed evenly and polish on skin. For almost half the price Ive had a much better pedicure elsewhere. I will not return. Read Less

One of the worst manicures I've ever had. She spent the first half hour painting on the shellac and the next HOUR trying to fix the mess she made. NO. DON'T GET WAXED HERE. I have a normal salon that I always go to, but I was in Gig Harbor and wanted a quick eyebrow wax. I went here and it was horrible. She told me to go near the back of the salon and wait for her (need I remind you, I had NEVER been here before so I had no clue where to go) -- I explained that I wanted my eyebrows waxed, and she started putting wax on my forehead. Literally near my hairline. I explained again that I only wanted my eyebrows, and she nodded her head in what I thought was understanding. Then she put wax on my cheek. I couldn't bare having strips of my face waxed off so she said we would have to do the entire face. Really upset, I agreed to continue. I've never broken out or had any problems with wax before, but immediately afterwards, my face was breaking out and had tiny pimple-like bumps (which I've read is somewhat normal) -- they STILL haven't gone away and this was over a week ago. During the appointment, she also got wax really close to my eye, so I tried to take my hand to my eye to keep it out, and she snapped at me to not touch. When I was checking out, she was very quick to get me out of there and there was no one else in the building except co-workers. I had a horrible experience and I will definitely NOT be returning there. I would not recommend this place for any type of waxing. Read Less

Call me bias but I know VIP is the best place in gig harbor because they use sterile tools every time and aim to satisfy! This should be everyone's go to. Not only does VIP have student discounts but they are always on top of their A-game bringing the newest trends. One of the best nail places I've ever been too! Atmosphere is great! My nail tech was awesome, and it was relieving seeing clean utensils being used from individualized sterile packaging. VIP nails are always so friendly and SO CLEAN! Everything is always sanitized. Also they don't speak Vietnamese in the salon just to prove a point that they aren't talking bad about you ;) but the ladies are all so sweet and even with the little English that they do know, they try! Cathy has been doing my nails in the harbor for over 10 years at their old house location and from Sky Nails. She is well known in upper Gig Harbor because she has quality that others can't pursue. My daughter loves the cheaper priced tanning beds and the beds always have new bulbs and the deals are cheaper and more reasonable than any in the harbor since everything is overpriced here. These gals know what they're doing and they are so modernized it is nice they stand out. A new salon by the QFC opened and the owner looked familiar along with the setting. I noticed she used to be a lead at VIP nails. That's awful. Choose Cathy and her ladies over at VIP because they always bring the newest trends to the area! VIP Nails was extremely accommodating for our party of 4.  The ladies were friendly and thorough.  The salon is very clean and has privacy options if you want to have a couples pedicure in a separate room. There is a nice waiting area with plush couches and is very inviting.   I spent hours researching the Gig Harbor area and VIP nails was the nicest place I found to get a pedicure AND Manicure for around $40.  I highly recommend checking out VIP Nails! Worst. Manicure. Ever.  The price may be right and the salon may be lovely, but I was left with "sticky" nails.  Thinking that they just needed to dry, I hung out for quite a while longer to be sure they'd dry.  The following morning, I woke up with fuzz all over my nails, and they were still sticky!  I ended up having to remove the polish after just one day (which was ridiculously difficult to remove!).  Nice women and employees, but spend your money elsewhere.
