DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS. There are tons of nail salons in Burien, go to literally any other one. The ONLY good thing about this place is that they are open later than other nail salons. I've been here twice because they are right by my job & they are open when I'm off work, so it's pretty convenient. The first time I went there for a fill & they did a good job. The girl wasn't very nice but she wasn't rude either, so whatever. I don't like small talk much anyways so I'm fine just hanging out while the tech does my nails. Tonight I went in for a fill again & had a terrible experience. I was definitely overdo for a fill but this has never been an issue before, & I've been getting my nails done for years. So I told the tech, "My nails are pretty bad right now." She laughed like it wasn't a big deal, so I was like okay cool. She starts doing them & starts going "Wow, these are bad" & sounding annoyed. She mentions something to the other nail techs in their native language & they start looking at my nails & looking at me like some sort of mutant freak. The one doing my nails continues working on them & doing some sort of disgusted laugh. They all three keep talking in their language, obviously about me. At this point I'm pretty uncomfortable with her even touching me & I want to leave, so I asked her to just remove my nails & be done. She could tell I was unhappy because she immediately started being nicer, probably because she still wanted a tip. So she removed the set, I paid & left. I'm disappointed in the people who left bad reviews. 1 star because they didn't like the color selection? 1 star because they had to walk across a two lane street to get to the door? The brilliant person who labeled the work they did in the picture above as "bullshit", aside from needing lessons in class, also needs to learn to pay attention to the work in progress and speak up for what she wants while it's being done. Accommodated us at the very last minute before they closed and didn't rush us at all. The massage for the pedicure was th best I've ever had and me and my husband both left feeling very satisfied.I haven't had my nails done here but would definitely recommend pedicures! I am sooooo mad at myself for taking a chance on Tulip's again today. Because they are the only place near me open on Sundays I keep going back and I'm ALWAYS disappointed. Today the person doing my toes stabbed the daylights out of toe (still hurts hours later) and shaped them in such an illogical way. I came in with straight across the top toenails and would have expected her to do the same thing today but no.... Instead she shaped them super low cut on the sides and like an oval shape along the tops. On my toes?! So bad. I had to ask her to fix it but the sides were so low they are just a mess. She also did a terrible job on my polish. The person doing my finger nails did the laziest job with polish. It's awful how rough they look. Some noted painted to the edge, others polish all over my skin, totally rough and uneven. I even brought my own new bottle of Opi polish giving them the benefit of the doubt that the last terrible job was the polishes "fault". I won't go back. They have the worst customer service here. My friend and I came together and they said they can only take one of us because they had an appointment with a client in 10 minutes. So I decided to wait while my friend got hers nails done. Two minutes later, a white lady walks in WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT and they sat her down right away. I was too lazy to do my own pedi at home so I decided to come here and I must say I won't be returning. Service was ok. About 2.5.... maybe 3 stars. The lady is super nice; pleasant. She did an okay job on my nails. The color selection here is very poor. A lot of their OPI has been mixed which was the most disappointing. A lot of the colors are extremely similar and too close to each other. I ended up picking this super dark plum which is pretty much black. This is one of the worse nail shops I have ever been to. The gal that started my nails didn't ask me what shape etc so i told her just a bit cut down and keep shape... she first off cut them way to short, used clippers not the file, way to short, I didn't complain, they will grow back. ( MY REAL NAILS MIND YOU)... overlay was so sloppy and bumpy, thick as heck.... then she started to file my nails in that pointy crap.... oh no.. so i moved to the other lady that didn't listen either NO I DO NOT WANT POINTED NAILS.. The only reason why I gave 2 stars because the owner came in keep in mind tried to get smart at first t i didn't pay but left with out polish had to go somewhere else for the polish .... No plastic liners in foot bays...ewwww!! All they do to sanitize is spray some multi-purpose cleaner and rinse. Poor/small color selection. For shellac, they give you a huge cup full of popsicle sticks with painted Nails glued to the end....impossible to pick a color like that, and almost every color was a shade of Pink. No systematic way to ensure your toes match your shellac nails. I was the only person in there and it took them almost 2 hrs to do my nails. I used to go here all the time for French manicures & pedicures 3-4 years ago and thought my nails always looked great. The staff makes no attempt to talk to you, which I never really minded before, but I have found they are increasingly unfriendly and ask if you are tipping them which I find kind of rude, rather than wait for me to tip them. I went and got a white shellac manicure a few days ago. I went in at 4pm, they closed at 5 that day and there were people who had come in after me so my nails were completely rushed. The lady did such a sloppy job on my nails, she left polish on my skin, left chunks in the polish on my nail, got a piece of fuzz in my nail, and didn't bother to cover the sides of my nails with polish. I could've done a better painting/clean up job myself. I actually went home and tried to file some parts off and had to cut pieces of cuticle off she had missed and left polish on. Rather than make sure my nails looked good, she was only concerned with getting more customers instead of turning them away to make sure my nails looked good. The next day one nail had already chipped off, so I went back and got it fixed, the lady did another sloppy job. The next day (2 days after I got them done) two more corners of different nails chipped off and one of them is cracked/split in half. While removing my acrylics, she tore off part of the middle of my nail down to the skin. I bled a lot and she never apologized. She then acted as if we would just continue. I cannot get a manicure for at least a month or two until that finger heals. She acted as if it was my fault for having 'thin nails'. Normally, one soaks in acetone to avoid this issue. After laying down new baseboard, my nails were shot and this was the closest nail salon from where I was running errands. It was a weekday, during lunch time, but slow so I was seated immediately. The lady who did my nails was very friendly and unlike previous nail salons, where I've only received a light application of lotion, this nail tech gave me a thorough hand/arm massage... omg, did I need that. I hope for their sake things start to pick up business wise, but in the mean time, their loss is my gain. I always get in right away. Oh man. This is as BAD as it gets. I've been to this salon twice. Recent visit was yesterday with my hubby to get pedicures. The place was a complete morgue and so we had no problem getting chairs. The issues all started to go downhill from there. First off, yes, the prices are cheaper than 'Seattle' (by $12) BUT.. I didn't expect to get worse service because of it. After all, it is Southcenter/Tukwila where you can get your nails done every block by a different place. So imagine my surprise when we were 'done' in under 30 mins. That included the "massage" and the polish and 'scrub'. It was quite a bit faster than other places I've to both in and outside Seattle. I tried to not make a big deal about it because they were dead so it's not like they had to rush us out because they had other people waiting. The whole time they worked on us, they talked about us. I tried to ignore it as it seemed to be more out of boredom than anything. Eventually they moved on to daydreaming about winning the lotto and their kids, etc. What always gets me though is.. people who talk about tips. People who yell across the shop and ones who have no shame in making you feel like you don't tip them "enough."So when it came time to pay, I went to the front and she ran our bill together. When I put down the 15% tip, she asked me if I was sure that was the amount I wanted to leave for the 2 ladies who worked on each of us. I said yes. She asked me again "Are you sure?" I said yes. As I went to sign, she rudely yelled out in front of my face to the other girls that "they weren't getting paid."The other girls proceeded to yell back at her and ask if she was sure I understood the tips and how it 'works'. She yelled back yes that she asked me twice and it's apparent that I wasn't a good tipper. Here's what offended me the most. As I signed and went to walk out, one of the gals loudly said she "knew" I was cheap when I walked in because of how I was dressed. I almost turned back around to start yelling back but I decided that it wasn't worth the effort. So note to the business owner (who probably won't even read this nor would understand) but it is naive of you to assume that no one speaks your native tongue. So stupid. And secondly, anytime you perform a subpar service and STILL get tipped 15% be THANKFUL. Do not be ungrateful and talk about how you expected a 25% tip. 25% to do nails. I'm sorry but that is not the market nor should it be. And it is so Asian to say that because of how I am dressed that I am "cheap"; I'm sorry I left all my Coach and Kate Spade handbags at home and didn't bring them with me so you'd judge me higher than you did. Tulip Nails West Seattle (42nd SW)Janice O.I have been going to Tulip for 6 years.  I have always wondered how sterile the equipment is as usually there is still nail dust on the drills and files but never followed up.  Last week I had my nails done and within 24 hours had a full scale infection on all 10 nails.  On antibiotics for ten days and creams until it is taken care of. I love this salon! I think the one thing that keeps me coming back is the amazing arm and neck massages they give. I feel like a lot of nail salons that charge sub $17 are all very similar; nothing really sets them apart from one another.Except for Tulip nail salon. First off, this place charges an extra $15 for shellac! I'mFine with the extra charge for shellac but I have never gone to a place that was that much extra!I got a full set with shellac, I like coffin style and my nails a little longer. She cut my nails way to short and the acrylic is to thick and she didn't check if my nails where even in shape. They aren't, they look wide at the base and each nail is sideways. I should of left when she told me how much extra shellac was. I'll prob end up going to a diff nail shop to get these either taken off or fixed. I'm never coming back here again!!! I originally came in for a full set for my wedding almost 2 years ago  and I have been coming here since! Because of my work schedule I'm usually the first person in the door when they open because they get busy quick.  They have a great selection of colors but I usually bring my own nail polish, just in case I need to do touch up between fills. First time getting my nails done at a nail salon and first time acrylics. Staff really nice but a nail of mine they shaped out was crooked and when I asked for sqoval they gave me a square so I had to get it change to be a bit rounder so it looked more like a sqoval. The underneath and side tips or my nails looks like a mess aside from some of the nail being slanted. But overall I would say a good place to get your nail done for a decent price, I might try a different style next time and the rating might go up who knows. Read Less

I would say I love this place but I have to only give it 2 stars for several reasons. Although the place is clean and the ladies in the place are lovely. Their massage chairs don't massage they just vibrate. Therefore I am missing out on one of my favorite parts of getting a pedicure, the chair massage. Secondly they dont have their own parking lot so whatever you do you have to cross a street or walk around a half block to access it. Time will tell how the pedicure lasts. Read Less

Have been here 2 times now and appreciate the quality of the service as well as the upbeat employees. I also finally figured out that I can add a litte glitter as a top coat to my gel and can pick any color instead of needing to pick a color with sparkle built in! Not a bad place. I think it varies between who you get, but got a pedicure here from a young woman. I wish she was a little more rigorous on cleaning. But that's just my preference. I think most people are sensitive to getting a deep cleaning for their feet. But I personally like it. She was gentle the whole time, the massage was great on my legs and feet. That was probably my favorite part. She cleaned my toes and scrubbed my feet. It looks great and I love the color I chose. Its a shimmery gold/beige by OPI.Anyways it was only $23, I walked in and was able to get serviced right away. There's plenty of chairs. So i highly recommend this place for large groups like bridesmaids etc or a group of friends for pedicures. There's 7 chairs I believe.But overall, friendly, clean and its a good price! Read Less

Came for only a pedi and very glad that I didn't spend anymore money than I had to.So when she was filling my water, I said not too hot. In her mind that meant luke warm water. She rushed through the whole thing. I'm huge on the massage part and that lasted like 2 minutes. Definitely not the pampering that I was in need for. I didn't like anything really 💁. First off I called to make an appointment and I get there and they're totally unaware of me coming and don't even remember making it. So then she asks me what shape and length I like. I explained to her I like my nails to be at least medium length at the shortest and kinda skinny towards the tip. Also known as coffin shaped. But she still cut them super short! In result caused the whole shape to look weird. And I usually never want to be that nagging, complaining customer but she cut my thumb nails so short I asked her to redo. And she acted like she got an attitude about it. Then in the middle of doing my nails she asked for me to pay (understandable so I won't ruin my nails after paint) but then she begins doing another customer's pedicure. After my paint she tells me I'm dry when I felt they weren't just to rush me out. Causing me to smudge my thumb nail. But just to not be a pest I let it be. I WANTED to like this place... Despite the bad reviews Bc a friend recommended it to me but I def won't be back. I came for an acrylic fill and not only did the lady not even completely fill in my nails... The shape was butchered and the paint job was a mess.  Looks like a child did it-- she was clearly in a hurry. I literally wanted to give zero tip-- and actually I wanted to walk out midway through the service.  I was burnt by the drill not just once but TWICE and so badly the second time that I yelled and jumped so abruptly it knocked my phone off the table and startled the others In the salon.  In addition to bad shaping, lack of filling, and sloppy polish... My matte top coat didn't even cover all of the polish so there was awkward shine still showing.  WOW. Such a waste. I was looking forward to having great looking nails for the holiday too. Read Less

One of the worst pedicure's ever! I came with a friend who wanted to try it, we both will never return!To sum it up:- Seated quickly- Salon dirty, stains all over the waiting chairs- Massage chairs were ripped in places, especially the remote control which has wires showing!- Pedicure water cold to warm with a hard plastic foot rest, so every time they pull a foot out you have to balance on hard plastic which hurts- They use dirty stained wash cloths- She did ask if I wanted my nails cut and then filed 4 of them slanted!- When she attempted the scrub, she used some yucky scrub paste, it was a mix of powder and cream ,she tried massaging it in and then sloshed water over my legs to rinse it, she then left me to soak in cloudy, cold dirty water before attempting an awful massage!- They use cooking oil to massage, applied a bit and used her finger tips to rub it in, it was HORRIBLE, I felt so greasy! During this time she left a wet, cold, dirty washcloth hanging off my toes in probably so kind of attempt to keep my foot warm, I asked her to move it, she put it on the floor then used it to wipe off greasy oil from my nails before painting.- The paint was done with no toe spacers and I had to put my flip flops on with disgusting greasy oil. I had to use a towel to wipe what I could off. The drive home was awful and the edge of any seat is covered in grease!UNCOMFORTABLE / UNPROFESSIONAL/  UNHYGIENIC - UNIMPRESSED!I could not wait to shower and remove the polish. Read Less

This place used to be great.  I moved out of state last year, and came to Seattle yesterday for the funeral of the father of my children.  Admittedly, I may just be in a bad mood, but their so called pedicure sucked.  They didn't groom the skin around my nails properly nor did they paint the toes right.  There is nail polish all around each toenail.  When I brought it to the attention of the lady that did my toes, she "attempted" to clean up 1 toe.  When I asked another lady for some polish remover, she brought me a little cotton ball and "attempted" to fix two more toes.  Thanks for the 30% correction effort.This place is horrible.  Go anywhere else.  How do I post a picture of their craptastic service?! The only reason I came here is because I was waiting around for my eyebrow tint appointment next door (L Beauty Bar). I found out a wax didn't come with a eyebrow tint and the price for the wax at L Beauty Bar was pricey. At any rate, I'm giving this place 2 stars because she didn't clean them up very well. After coming here a few times I came to realise this nail salon is not what I thought it was!In the two months I've been going here, I have had to consistently get my nails done early because a nail has broken or popped off. Wonderful experience when I went in with my friend, I booked an appointment for us and when we got there we didn't have to wait. The girl did my nails just how I wanted, perfect shape, and it was only $25 for a shellac manicure! Now I should've known by the price that I would regret it...I want to give them 5 stars for the experience, but the shellac started peeling immediately after we left that day! My friend went back and they redid her nails and were super nice about it, but they started peeling again. We have crossed this place off of our list, sadly, because we loved the experience, but shellac should last at least a week or two, not a day or two. HORRIBLE!! I should've read the reviews first! My friend went in for a fill and they did them way too thin & crooked. They took 45 minutes to get the shellac off of my nails and by then my fingers were SOOOO SORE I couldn't even get them filed or painted! They charged me $10 to take the shellac off even though it said $5 on the sign!! They were talking crap about us the entire time too and other customers, my friend speaks their language and responded to them while we were leaving, I think that shocked them. My daughter and I went here for the first time today. The salon is clean, sanitary and we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. We didn't have appointments and we both wanted full sets put on. I think our wait was about 1 minute. Our nails were done to perfection. The gentleman that did my nails..I believe to be the owner even told us about one of his salons that would be closer to where we live, if we wanted to go there in the future. He did a wonderful job, very gentle and took his time. I haven't seen that in a long time, that is one of the reasons I stopped having my nails done.
