STAY AWAY, DIRTY, ZERO STARS! We decided to get a pedicure during my birthday vacation get-away, so we pulled into Helen's. I wish we would have kept driving. Two of us went in shortly after opening on a Saturday, there was only one customer there but (at least) 5 employees. One worker immediately started filling water into the pedicure chairs then started my man's pedicure. I had to wait over 10 minutes for someone to come get started with me, an older male, seeming very agitated that I was interrupting whatever he was doing prior. The whole pedicure was unpleasant, uncomfortable, and violently rough (luckily for me, he was so rushed, my pedicure was only 20 minutes, polish included). This older male cut me in 4 different places with the cuticle cutters, over-clipped a couple of toenails, then proceeded to file only skin, and dug the 'cheese-grater' tool across my foot twice. My toenails were terribly crooked and extremely uneven. He had cut one nail (and filed) it so short on one of my toes that it was excruciatingly painful to walk the next day because of the skin stretching away from the nail bed. The polish job was the best part knowing I was done with the torture. He didn't even get all the nail polish off from my previous pedicure but proceeded to paint over it. I decided to try a new place and wanted to take my Mother-in-law as well. My Mother-in-law got a mani/pedi with regular polish and 2 weeks later little chipping, she is very impressed.  Myself I got a full set with gel on hands and feet. I tried 2 MOOD CHANGING COLORS for my full set, so neat. My nails held up and I will be going back for sure. Read Less

If you had read my past review of Happy Nails you might have seen that I highly recommended Helen there. Well, it turns out that Helen has left Happy Nails and now has her own salon on Meridian! I am so glad I found her once again. Helen really listens to me when I explain how I want my nails shaped. She is a perfectionist and will redo something if it's not to her liking. She wants all customers to be happy so will also redo something if it's not to your liking. She did some cute Christmas nails on my teen daughter today. I was very disappointed. A friend raved about this place so I tried it out and I will never go again. Their nail selection is horrible. My nails started falling off in a week. 2 thumbs down! I absolutely love going to Helen's! I have been going consistently for a year now. Helen always does a great job on my nails when I go in to get fills. Helen is professional, attentive, and grear at conversation. I always have fun with Tony whenever I come in as well. When I walk in, they greet me by name and ask how my last fill did and how long it lasted. I get nonstop compliments on my nails and I don't go anywhere else! I don't give a lot of reviews and when I do, they are usually only good. However, this was just a bad experience for both myself and my sister-in-law and need to say something. I paid $40 for the cat eye shellac and the technician only put one coat on. This didn't seem like enough initially, but I thought they knew what they were doing.  There was a base coat and top coat, but the color was very uneven. I even let that go, but within a few days one chipped and 4 nails broke. I had on shellac prior to this done from another salon and all of it was unchipped and lasted 3 weeks! My sister in law was quite upset and left a negative review on Facebook. I'll let her explain her own experience, but she did ask for me to take a picture of my nails as the owner requested it. They determined that it was self inflicted. This is why I'm leaving this review as I do not appreciate being blamed for chipped nails as a result of thinly applied product. My nails are sooo short, so a standard amount of gel can last 3 weeks without chipping. I'd say my nails are pretty low maintenance. Even if it 'was my fault' as they said, you can see in the picture how badly it was applied. You can't  blame me for that. Read Less

I went with my sister in law and we travelled from Canada. After we had left our nails started falling about the day after and by day 4 my nails looked as above (shellac polish peeling off and 3 nails broken). This was from normal daily life. I left a Facebook review and they told me to call to discuss. When I tried to call I was hung up on four times. They apparently didn't know their co workers name and were unable to give me their name. I finally spoke with Helen who agreed to redo my nails and asked for a picture of my sisters. After I received hers, I sent it to them. Then I received a message back stating that they had sat down to discuss and determined that my sister in law had self inflicted her own nail damage, which is beyond untrue! Due to this, they refused to redo my sister in laws nails! Then they had their friends commenting that I was crazy on the Facebook review and blocked me so now people can't see my review! It was a waste of our time and money, we both paid a total of $25+$40 us and a good tip! Then this what we receive! Helen herself said that her cat eye (which my sister in law got) lasted her over a month... that's much longer than 4 days! Very disappointed! This is my first negative review on getting my nails done, which I have been getting done for a long time!In response to helens response... I was not yelling on the phone, I was asking why I was hung up on and why they wouldn't tell me the workers name so that I could complain! Your staff also repeatedly kept telling that "they're busy, what I want" I did call 4 times and I have the call records to prove it! I am not over exaggerating and this is the first time that they have claimed that I did my own damage to my nails also! I asked for a refund because of how terrible the job they did was! There response shows how they're reacting to the situation! They blocked me after I posted photos of the response no got from them! Also, as stated in the review I have had nails break right afterwards, due to thin gel used! I have no idea what being god fearing has to do with anything, but I do believe in karma and you will experience it for all of your lies! Read Less

Very friendly, I was quoted a price for a regular gel pedi on the phone and made an appointment. I arrived and had a nice pedicure.  When I checked out, I was charged $60 for a deluxe "gel pedi" and said I reserved  for a regular pedi...not deluxe.  Definitely not worth the price...didn't appreciate the  bait and switch.  I won't be going back. I had no appointment but I did not have to wait at all. The sweet lady who did my nails was Vivian. I will definitely request her next time and would highly recommend her. She did a regular manicure for me and seemed to be very experienced, however, she was not hurried at all. I was very pleased with the result. The atmosphere was very peaceful and serene. I went to Helen's for a pedicure recently and was pleasantly surprised by the exceptionally clean and organized environment. The owners were very friendly and got me in right away as a walk in. For $35 I got a pedicure including foot/leg scrub, nail work, lotion massage, paraffin wax dip for my feet, then another massage with hot stones. The polish and nail design ($5 extra) were perfect! I was there for almost an hour and it was so nice not to be rushed through the experience and I felt truly pampered. I will be back! Read Less

I guess Helen is the only one who can do a good job. The pedicure I got from another tech is the worst ever. Never have my nails been sticky after 3 hours. Polish came off on my finger when I touched a nail to find out why they looked so gritty. Nails not trimmed, callous remains on one heel. Not happy. Read Less

First time I went in Helen did my nails and did an awesome job! Went the next 2 time and the guy did them and I wasn't too happy with them but waited my 2 weeks and tried for Helen the next time. I mentioned and showed her why I wasn't happy with his work and she apologized and spoke with him and that was it (not a bad thing). I love the atmosphere there and they are all so great! I think I finally found a salon where the people that are working take the time to satisfy their customers. I came in as a walk in for the first time and got my nails done by Helen. Speaks really good English as do the other nail techs. Helen told me she has been doing nails for 28 years and definitely shows. Listened to how I like my acrylics done and always asked if I approved how she was doing something. I would recommend coming here to anyone. With it taking me 3 years to find a good nail salon in Bellingham, I think I found one here who satisfies my pickiness. And not to mention, Helen's nail's pricing is great. With me needing a completely new set and having French tips, it only cost me $35 (plus tip since Helen did such a fantastic job. Read Less

Not from the area, but needed an emergency mani + pedi. Came in here because I was close by and am so glad I chose Helen's. They did an amazing job. Not too fast, not too slow - just right. VIP Nails is now under new management so watch for their name to change soon. It will be Helen's Nail Spa. Helen is engaging and professional. She does excellent nails and has always paid close attention to detail and any requests I make. She is very experienced: over 25 years and previously worked in the fashionable San Francisco. Their nail selection is quite large and color coded making it really helpful when comparing colors/looking for a certain color. The salon is getting a face lift as well as new practices. The salon will never reuse instruments and practices high caliber sanitation procedures. Definitely give Helen's Nail Spa a chance on your next nail service. I HIGHLY recommend them!! Read Less
