Where do I begin? I made a couples reservation for Julep pedicures for our wedding anniversary. What you get: - Very Friendly Staff - Rushed Basic Pedicure with foot massage and paraffin treatment - Portable work station (overglorified bucket and office chair) - bottle of polish to take home - beverage What you don’t get: - Massage chair - pedicure basin with flowing water - privacy or spa like environment The technician also accidentally sanded the skin off of two spots on my foot and ankle with a dry emery board. The bleeding didn’t stop throughout the pedicure and I went home wearing a bandage. I would have stopped the pedicure as soon as I started bleeding and left, but I was hoping my husband was enjoying his experience. I also didn’t want to hurt the technician’s feelings, who felt terrible. We agreed the experience felt rushed (thank God on my part) and not worth the price. No discount was offered, after my bleeding issue. I left feeling bewildered and ripped off. What did I just pay $148 (+ gratuity) for? Is it a green salon? I read that the business supports women and women’s charities... That’s great! But we needed an experience to remember that competes with other salons. I’ve had many pedicures, all levels of salons and this was my first regrettable experience. Read Less

My actual experience here was good.  I was able to make a same day appointment and had a pretty good pedicure that is still going strong.  I rated it lower because of my experience when it came to pay.  I had received a gift card for $75 and the total cost of the pedicure was $74.  When I presented my gift card, I was told that I owed a balance of $54, meaning that the gift card was only worth $20.  I said that wasn't right and showed her on the card that I had that the written value was $75 (which my Sister had also verbally told me).  She said that she must have been mistaken but when I pushed further, she tried again and the whole balance of $75 then appeared.  She commented that it was weird...and I thought so too.  I had seen another review where someone else had a problem with gift cards here too.  I would definitely not purchase a gift card to Julep in the future since it seems that their system is a bit unstable. Bad service. Was given a time and a confirmation call with my time a few weeks later. Made this appointment for my birthday with a family member. We get there at our time and then we are told the appointment was an hour prior.  We were killing time at the mall next door waiting. A phone call should have been given at 2:10 when we did not show up for our supposed 2 PM appointment and we could have booked it next door instead of killing more time at the mall. I swear we were told another time on scheduling/the phone call follow up confirmation because I typically do not mix up times. Even if I did they could have been more accommodating instead of "so sad too bad, bye!" Zero attempts to fit us in later and were condescending. Also the chairs in this place look super uncomfortable, update your decor. Also a lot of these products are probably really old. And your prices are outrageous. Read Less

Terrible Experience. My sisters and I took our Mom here for Mother's Day. My sister called to make an appointment and they asked "regular pedicure or Julep pedicure?" making no mention of the cost. Given it was a special occasion she booked the Julep (she was too shy to ask the cost, which was our mistake). We arrived, got great pedicures, though they rushed us out of our chairs the second the pedicure was over because they were over-booked. Throughout the pedicure they offered two services we were told were "included" - paraffin wax and to take your own nail polish home. Then, we go to pay. The total, for 5 pedicures was $425. WHAT A JOKE. The worst part is they asked if we wanted to tip before we got to see the total. So we said the normal "yes, 20%". SO INSANE. Mind you, there is no signage we could see that listed pricing while we were in the salon. If we had, we would have definitely made sure we got the regular pedicure. The worst part is, Mother's day was last weekend and all 5 of ours have already chipped. Outrageous. Save your money and fly somewhere tropical. Read Less

Unless Kena is available do not waste your time! I went for a Julep pedi and gel mani today. Kena was booked so I went with another nail tech  (Jenny). My mistake!! She barely scrubbed my feet, didn't give me the polish to take home (service you receive when booking a Julep pedicure), I had to return to Julep to request a pad soaked in remover to clean up the sloppy paint job, and less than 5min later my gel mani chipped because it was not done properly.  At this point, I was extremely frustrated and the gals at the front did offer to fix it, but I felt I had already wasted enough of my time. I was disappointed and will be canceling my membership!  For now, I will be looking for another salon to removed this garbage of a gel mani I just received. Read Less

I am very disappointed in their customer service and the quality of their work. It hasn't been 24 hours since my service and my nails are already chipping. I called to see what they can do to remedy the situation, and I was informed that I would have to come in tomorrow in order to get my nails touched up. I am not able to make come in at their suggested time, and then I was informed that they don't have a guarantee on their nail services so there is nothing that they can do. I feel that they should be able to do something since I have to take time out of my day to fix their mistake, and they should be able to work with me a little bit.I have had other situations where their "Fab 14" only lasted about 3 days when it supposed to last at least a week, I was given a color change at a 50% discount since I was able to come in at their suggested time...they only offered me a discounted rate since they don't guarantee their nail services. I don't fully understand that if they perform manicures/pedicures it would seem that they should guarantee their nail services for at least a couple days, especially at their high prices. I have been coming to Julep for years, the quality of their services and their customer service has gotten pretty bad. It's a real shame since they used to be so good. It's time to find a new nail salon that stands behind their work better. Read Less

I've been visiting this location of Julep for over 2 years, and simply can not say enough about the great service I've received on each and every visit.  Pedicures have been done by several different associates, and I've always left feeling I had a great experience and my feet look fabulous.  Today I had a facial with Sota - If you need a facial, run to book one with her.  An hour of pure bliss and relaxation, hand and arm massage, paraffin treatment for your hands.  My skin looks and feels better than it has in ages - I've had several facials before, but I feel Sota's is the best!  For moderate pricing, get a monthly subscription for substantial savings on services. The place was clean and reception was friendly, hot tea while you wait etc. However, I was expecting a better experience for the price I paid. I appreciate their using nontoxic and environmentally friendly products but it was so uncomfortable. Either the chairs were too high or the tables too low. The way I had to sit was so awkward. The girls who did our nails weren't very friendly and they continually turned around to watch the television. My girl kept getting polish all over my skin and then scraping it off super hard with her own nail. The finished product was sub-par and basically looked like I did it myself at home, which is specifically why I go to nail salons and don't do my own nails. Not what I expected from a chain type company or a nail salon in the heart of Bellevue for that matter. Read Less

As a member for the last four to five years, I have been contemplating terminating my membership for the last year or so. Because I later heard tonight that there are complaint letters piled up on desks, it seems clear that nobody at the "top" cares, so I decided to publicly rant, out of loyalty to those that have been let go from Julep. Tonight I ended my loyalty of my longstanding membership and the management at the front desk didn't blink an eye. From what I hear, there are lies and deceit to get fellow employees fired.  Julep treats the manicurists horribly, tipping, etc. I have heard this from clients (my own family members and friends) in Gig Harbor and especially, as of lately and most frequently (because of my proximity) in Bellevue. I would not recommend getting involved with Julep. There are many other local salons that treat their clients and employees better. Read Less

I would give the girl that did my nails an extra star, but the whole experience left me wanting more - especially for what I paid.In December I stopped in to ask about designs. I specifically wanted a Mickey-themed manicure for a trip to Disney World. I was told that it would be no problem and scheduled my appointment for the day of my trip (I had a red-eye flight). Fast-forward to 11am on the day of my 1pm appointment. I get a call asking what kind of design I'd like. I tell the person on the phone that I'd like a mickey mouse theme. She then asks if I can come the following day for the person who does the designs. Um, no... I have a flight at 10pm.  She then asks if she can call me back. She calls back at 11:45 and says the person I'm scheduled with isn't comfortable doing designs, so can we just do a color-theme of stripes/dots. If I wanted a basic mani-pedi I would've gone a few doors down for half the cost. At this point, I don't have time to get an appointment anywhere else. They ask if I can come at 12:30 instead of 1.I show up at 12:30, but it's still nearly 1 before I am seen. The girl does okay with my simplified mickey theme, but there are smudges where two colors meet that could've been fixed, but to her credit - for not doing designs she did pretty good. In the end I was charged $48 each for mani and pedi and an extra $16 for designs (which I got five dots on my toes - apparently that is considered a design for $8). It's been 10 days and my gel polish (shellac) is chipped on one of my fingers. So I paid $112 (and tip on top) for something I could've had any other place do for close to half the price. What a let-down. The pedicure was standard (over-priced for what you get). There is no scrub, minimal massage (more of rubbing in the lotion) and $8 for a design which was five dots on my big toe? The girl was nice though. Julep might want to ask itself some questions though if they want to keep people coming back:*Why schedule me with someone who doesn't do designs when I go in (IN PERSON) to ask for a manicure with design?*Why ask me to come in early if you aren't going to start early?*Why charge so much? This isn't a high class spa. There are no private chairs or robes or anything special to charge so much. To everyone else: Do yourself a favor and visit the nail place a few doors down. Read Less

I've never had anything short of excellent service during my visits, and I'm always happy with their polish suggestions and willingness to help me with the difficult decision of "what color and/or product do I need today?"Angel and Mallory have been my most seen nail artists, but everyone I've encountered has been great. PRO TIP: Always ask for the silver-colored bottle top coat, Long Lasting, I believe it's called. The other top coat has chipped on me in less than 12 hours before, but with a quick email to the manager at  Bellevue Julep, they gave me a complimentary color change at my convenience. Again, top notch customer service if you reach out to them! Don't just write a Yelp review about it ;) They are willing to right a wrong!Long story short, Julep's PDQ membership as well as their Maven box are my monthly must haves. I had Hands-down, the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life tonight while visiting julep salon. I've been a paying member here for a few months now and I decided to invite my two nonmember friends to get manicures since they are able to get member pricing on Tuesdays. From the moment I walked in, the front desk girl was undeniably rude to me.  When I asked simple questions like what the cost for service was going to be for my friends, she spoke down to me like I was an idiot for asking in the first place and I never even got us a clear answer until our service was over. When I went to pay I asked her very nicely if I was able to charge to my card on file to which I was responded with a rude scoff.  I thought maybe I was crazy and that I was imagining her rudeness but as soon as I left the salon my friends busted out laughing in disbelief as to how absolutely horrible the front desk girl was to me.  If you can't smile, answer simple questions and be kind to your guests why would you ever work a front desk job?I will definitely be canceling my membership, if I am going to spend that much money on a service I would expect the staff to be friendly, especially when I was bringing in two new customers to their salon Read Less

The customer service was not very warm and almost not personal which is one of the things I liked before. My sister and I went to the Bellevue location yesterday for the first time because the U. Village one was booked through Monday. Never again. The place was messy. Several of the front tables hadn't been cleared off or wiped down. The place only had one other customer when we walked in so it wasn't as if they were too busy to do so. The tables for the gel manicures were all over the place, chairs pushed into a corner, not to mention ridiculously uncomfortable. One of the staff's smocks looked as if it it hadn't been laundered recently as it had spots on the back. The manicure itself. Not a lot of neutral pink colors to choose from, only two. The one my sister wanted she was told turns grey or yellows after a couple of days. Why have the color available if it discolors in a few days? And no hand/forearm massage with lotion. Nothing. I know only a "Fab 14" was booked, but not even lotion applied to the arms?!?!? If that's the case, when the service was booked, it would've been nice for the staff to have informed of the service choices. My sister had to put the finishing touches on the shaping of her nails. If the nail technician can't shape nails, then what are we paying for?And the cherry on the cake? The gel polish is only guaranteed to not chip for five days. Only FIVE days?!?!?? Who ever heard of that? The neighborhood place I go to, a regular polish lasts for 7 to 10 days and a gel for 14 or they touch up. NEVER. EVER. AGAIN. If my neighborhood nail salon is cleaner than Julep, has friendlier staff, is up front with the service pricing and what you receive with it, costs less, and the polish lasts longer than julep, and I get a hand massage even with a lowly old $7.00 polish change, Julep can forget ever getting my business again. For the prices charged, it'd better be the best of the best. Needless to say, Julep isn't. Never again will Julep get my business and my hard earned money. Read Less

I had a lovely experience at Julep during my first visit this week. I booked an appointment the day prior for a Porch manicure, showed up on time and was promptly greeted and check in for my service. I had to wait a few minutes for the nail tech to grab me, but during that time, I was offered a beverage and invited to peruse the items on sale. I declined the warm neck wrap, but it was great to know it was an option. My nail tech, Ivy, asked if I'd been in before and since I hadn't, she gave me the rundown on the salon. Julep focuses on being environmentally friendly and hygienic. This was evident to me with the lack of chemical smells and the fresh utensils that were unpackaged as Ivy got started. Throughout my visit, I also witnessed several employees cleaning the recently-vacated workstations. My service did not feel rushed and Ivy took great care to ensure my manicure was perfect. It's been a couple days and I have noticed a bit of chipping - I opted for the 15-min dry time top coat, which Ivy warned me would not last as long as the 1-hour dry time top coat. I'm also rough on my nails, so I can't ding Julep for this. Julep is on the Passport card so you get a 20% discount on services. It's a great deal and I plan on returning! Read Less

Julep is a top notch, high quality, boutique nail salon that offers manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing. The service, from the nail techs to the aestheticians to the front desk staff, is high quality and service oriented - they actually care about their clients and the experience they deliver. And, the products they sell, whether of their own making or from another A+ provider, are rock star! Some details: the Julep Signature Pedicure comes with free touch ups for the first 3 weeks! And, you get to take home a full size polish ($14 a bottle). The polishes are toxin free too, which is a great bonus. The "Fab for 14" is there gel polish, the lasts for, you guessed it, 14 days. My favortite service they offer is a facial with Jessica. It is TDF, and I add on the Glycolic Peel for the extra "juice". For $56 a month, you get to choose a Julep Parlor Pedicure (reg $74) OR an Organic Facial ($94) OR a Fab for 14 Manicure (reg $66) each month. And, you get exclusive member-only discounts on all other services and products. I had a terrible experience with this parlor. I selected Julep for several gift cards I'd purchased for my co-worker's Christmas Gifts. In all, I spent over $400 after buying gift cards and accompanying gift sets. About six months later my colleagues tried to go in and use the cards. Two had the very embarrassing experience of going in, and then in front of other customers, being told they'd already used their cards and they couldn't use the same card anymore. After confusedly calling me to ask what might be happening, and I getting on the phone with the Parlor they agreed to honor the original card amounts even though they said, several times, that the system showed they'd been used. I pointed out that this was impossible since neither of the women there had ever been to ANY Julep Parlor. The Parlor rep I spoke to said they'd have the manager call me the next day. A few days went by. No call from the manager, so I followed up, as I still have several people who wanted to use their cards and were now nervous to book. I left a voicemail explaining the situation. No return call. The following week I called and left a message with the parlor attendant, asking for the manager to call me back. Again, no return call. The third week after the incident, I called again. Manager wasn't there (when IS this manager there??) and so I again left a message. This time the person asked me to explain the situation which I politely did, and before they gave my name they interrupted me to say, "Oh you must be Tiama. Yeah we already know about you." To which I said, "then why hasn't anyone called me back?" They apologized and promised the manager would return my call. This never happened. At that point I emailed the Bellevue Parlor email listed on their site for assistance. That email also went unanswered. Finally over a month later I called their Finance department and was able to get the issue resolved, in a matter of 6 hours. The woman there was very apologetic but offered no type of additional service to appease the situation- which in my experience would be natural. As I mentioned to her, I had purchased these cards for nine people, and counting myself that made 10 impacted by this ordeal. Had we all experience positive experiences they could have ended up with at least 10 new customers, and potentially more since many of us are Yelp, City Search and Angie's List reviewers. Instead, they have 10 of us who have witnessed each other try to use cards and be embarrassed when no cards could be found, and then myself who has struggled for any call back, much less a resolution. It's been disappointing to say the least. Read Less

I can't believe I'm spending the time to actually write this review, but the EXTREMELY unprofessional service at Julep is something that anyone considering a visit should be aware of. Agreed that the technical services at Julep are solid, albeit incredibly overpriced. But it's really the front desk staff and management that need a lesson in business ethics. What a bunch of sleazebags! The salon sent out a letter to all PDQ members letting them know Julep was ""bringing back the PDQ pedi to go along with the PDQ mani"" - seriously, this is a quote directly from the letter. So, not until after booking and receiving the service did anyone at the front desk bother to inform me that the PDQ pedi actually isn't part of the PDQ membership program and I was charged $35 for what was essentially a polish change. And when I asked if my prepaid services could be applied to the balance for the pedicure, the answer was simply ""the computer won't let us do that""... Right, what a load of sh-t! You're telling me there is no way to credit a prepaid balance toward a service? Or possibly offer a discount on future services since clearly the advertising is misleading? And why would you call it a PDQ pedi if it really has nothing to do with the PDQ membership? This place makes its money from duping members and overcharging for services you can get at 20 salons within a 10-mile radius easily offering better customer service. Buyer beware!! Read Less

I went to Julep for a much needed pedi after going several months without while pregnant. It was my first trip to Julep. The setting was cool and the chairs were super comfy! I loved that they are ""germ-o-phobes"", that it was baby-friendly, and that I didn't have to worry about my little guy breathing in any chemicals. I got the glycolic pedi and it did wonders on my nasty calloused feet. I added a neck massage and it made the pedi even better! I went with a friend for a manicure/pedicure combo that they are running on special right now. The person that did my nails was Phung. She was a lovely woman and she made me feel really comfortable and I enjoyed chatting with her during my visit there. My experience at this location was very good, relaxing and enjoyable. My only problem is that the polish on every nail was chipping within 3 days. I get pedicures every few months, and I have never had this much nail polish coming off so quickly. Within 3 days I had to remove all of the nail polish and re-do it myself. I was just really disappointed with the results. The person that I went with ended up with a lot of bubbles in her polish that left little dots of missing polish on her fingernails. I don't know if it is the type of nail polish that they use, or what the deal was - but I will never go back there again. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Frankly, I love the big comfy massage chairs and the whirlpool foot bath. This place doesn't have that. But they do have a great relaxing atmosphere, great service, and a nice clientele. The cost is higher and the pedi lasts about the same as most places. Somehow the polish just seemed a bit shinier here. I recommend.

My toenails are growing out but other than that my toes still look great, even 4 weeks later! Read Less

Read Less
