I've had 3 negative experiences. First time my shellac manicure only lasted about a week. Next time we were rudely told to come back later without being offered an appointment for a specific time. When I asked if there was a specific time he said 3:00, but then made no effort to take my name or use any polite words. This last time I had a pedicure and was left waiting for a long time without a word. The man who did my nails was sloppy and careless. He seemed very interested in the tv show and the foot massage mostly consisted of him holding my feet while staring at the tv and not moving. It was very weird. Plus a pedicure is $30. My shellac manicure lasted only a week. I wasn't doing anything that would cause it to come off earlier than expected. The nails underneath the gel polish were all jagged and uneven. My pedicure polish is still on and looks fine. The staff was very friendly and the place is clean.Read Less

This is my favorite nail place because the staff is so welcoming. They work hard to fit people in as walk-ins or on short notice. They are talkative if you want to talk, or they're quiet if you want to relax. They remember repeat customers, even if it's been a while they'll recognize you. They do a really good job with all their nail options. And the spa treatments come with a nice hot stone massage.Read Less

I felt as if I was being taken advantage of at the cash register. I was charged $15 more than the posted prices for waxing because I had "both the front and back of my legs" waxed. The woman working there tried to tell me that that warranted an extra charge. I've been waxed many times and nobody has ever charged for the front and back separately. That's just ridiculous. The woman waxing me also got wax on my jeans as she handed them back to me (wax all over her hands), dripped wax on my shoes which were under the table during the treatment & dripped wax on my shirt while I was getting my legs waxed. She proceeded to use Acetone to remove the wax drippings from my blouse!! All said & done She sent me out the door with wax all over my legs, didn't wipe the area or use baby oil to remove wax residue. I came home with blobs of wax on my legs (transferring even more wax on to my jeans - bright side - it was the inside of my jeans this time!). Overall, very unprofessional & rushed service. DO NOT COME HERE. I've been here 4 times and every single time has been a complete disaster! They always seem to rush me out of the place and pay no attention to detail. Every single time I've left with the absolute worst shellac manicure I've ever had, rough & sharp nails, uneven nails, they forgot to apply top coat. They really can't seem to get it right. There was no hot water this time for our pedicures and on top of all that the owner often does mine and my mothers nails!! Today I went with my mom and grandma and we all left practically crying (well I did actually cry) because our nails were so terrible. I just got engaged and this is not the nail job I wanted to show case my beautiful ring. I will have to go someplace else tomorrow to redo this awful mani-pedi. Thank god I'm not getting married! I was surprised by the negative feedback because I had nothing but a pleasant experience my first time.  Their facility, tubs and tools were very clean.  They were closing in 20 minutes but they still took me in!  I also got a French manicure which takes quite a bit more time.  I am very happy with the addition of the hot stones and warm towels to my pedicure at no additional cost. I am new to BI and have been looking for a local salon for my semi-monthly mani / pedi.  I was a long time client of my local salon back in CA (went to the same place 2x each month for 15+ years) so finding a new 'home' is important to me.  I've been to Star Nails three times now.  Each time I've met other BI regulars (always a good sign), and each time I've gotten a great mani and pedi.  Equally important is that the staff recognized me as a repeat (they did a wonderful job of making me feel welcome on my last visit). This place gave me one of the worst shellac manicures. Half of my nails were not painted correctly with the colour overlapping on my skin and very uneven and bumpy. I was told the paint on my skin would come off in the shower. Come on, do it right the first time. (My 7 year old could have painted my nails better). I told Lee I was unhappy and that they did not look good. Nothing but a shrug.  The nail polish started to peel and chip  less than 3 hours post manicure. Lee was in such a hurry as more clients were coming in and he was trying to accommodate them as well. My pedicure was very mediocre and still left with my feet in the same condition as before. I do a better job of giving myself a pedicure.  The price was ridiculous for the services received.  Stay away.  Side note: I also noticed after my pedicure Lee rinsed the foot bath area and did not disinfect. GROSS. Update: I requested my money back and was told by Lee they do not do that. He said he would fix them and I told him I did not want him to be the one to fix them and requested someone else to do it.  He flat out refused and said that he would do it. I did not want another crappy, rushed job.  This place is CRAP and the owner is very unreasonable.  I guess that they do not care if their work is bad as long as they get their money. Read Less

I just moved to Bainbridge from SoCal, where I've been a long time client of the same shop for over 3 years... I'm all about being a long time patron of businesses that do me right! And they always did... Anywho, I felt like I was having an affair on my nail girl last week when I went to Star Nail and met Kim for the first time... But I must admit, she did my toes and my nails, and not at the same time but still had me out in less than 1-1/2 hours! wow!My toes look and feel awesome still (a week later) and my gel nails are also still looking good... I am VERY rough on my hands, I'm a hand washing addict with a 3 yr old, so keeping nail polish on for more than 10 days is a serious "good luck with that!"Well, mine still look great and so I thought I would let Yelp know and I will be back! My nails are ruined!!Doing a quick google search I found the salon online and called to see if I could get a gel manicure in 15 min (I was getting off the Bainbridge ferry). I thought it was awesome that the lady said she would wait for me (it was close to 6p on a Monday).  It was hard to find their salon, they didn't know their street address. I found them an ms a gentleman sat me down to do my nails.  I had an old gel manicure (acquired elsewhere) that had grown out.  There were a few chips and he started using his cuticle scissors to tear the old gel off my nails.  I told him that I didn't want him to pull it off, to please soak them.  He said something in another language and continued to peel away the old gel on 4 of my nails.  I told him several times that I did not want him ripping off the old polish, pulling my hand away.  He soaked off about 5 nails, and used a drill for the rest and still kept trying to tear off the polish!  I should have just left.  While using the drill he kept talking to another non-customer in the salon and I had to pull my hand away several times because the drill was getting so hot and was being used heavy-handedly on my nails.  Again, I asked him to soak off the polish (it was not thick!)  I should have just got up and left. He rushed on two coats of polish, the timing of my hand under the light varied since no timer was used, and It seemed like I was never under the light longer than 20 seconds. I asked him to please unglue my nail from the skin around/under my nail, and he replied in another language and never fixed them.  I then asked him to please give me a file because I had rough edges (from top coast being half assed tossed  under and on the side of my nails tips) he looked at them, shrugged and said in perfect English "$25."  I was not in the salon longer than 20 minutes.  He never cleaned up my cuticles, or under my nails, never used hand lotion, never used a smidge of respect.  I should have left. My nails have been chipping and there are spider cracks on the tips of every nail because he tore/ripped and filed down my nails and they are so flimsy and thin, I'm afraid of the months ahead of me having to grow them back out!  I was out of the spa by 6:20p.  Found out later they normally close at 7p.  I have no idea why I was rushed.  He ruined my nails.  Never go to this place! Worst Pedicure Ever! $30 bucks to basically have oil rubbed all over your feet and legs and your toes painted. She barely touched my toenails that needed trimming, didn't clean up the cuticles, and did a very light scrub of the dead skin on my feet. A very lengthy lower leg and foot rub, not massage was done with a massive amount of oil. When I got home I had to take a towel to my legs before sitting on any furniture. I still had rough feet and peeling skin from an old blister. I do not recommend anyone go here. Too much money for someone to paint your toes. So disappointed. Read Less
