This review only applies to wax. The manicure and pedicure was good. But the wax lady waxed my checks off. She literally went so far out not only sideways but up to. The most awful experience. I've gone here several times (and tip very well) but wanted to "test out" after reading someone else's recent experience. You get treated wonderfully if you go here dressed, makeup done etc. Today I wore old jeans, holey sweatshirt and no makeup. I asked how long of a wait (there were 3 people waiting). I have been going to Universal Nails for 15+ years. Adore the owners Danny and Kim and the others who work there. I’ve never had a bad experience, always excellent work whether my nails or pedicure. It was by far the worst experience of my life. I’ve gone to this place several times and always had a good time. I’m not sure if it was because the way I was dressed or not but I will never return. I have on workout clothes and a baseball cap. There was a guy that did my pedicure that barely wanted to touch me. I'm not sure if it was be because I’m African American or what. They do a decent job, when you come in they are often busy these ladies are good but not the best. Though scheduling appointments is basically useless your never seen on time EVER, well rarely. Very bad service and the workers are always in a hurry to go home. My nail tech's name is Jessica she tried talk to me and ask me sort of questions. First of all I came here to relax not to share stories. This is my first time at this nail salon but will never come back because I felt rushed and my tech doesn't know what personal space is means and was very rude when she was cutting my nails she was asking me like rushing me. So I actually witnessed the situation someone else wrote about. There was a woman leaving when I entered today that was upset and going off on the owner. I didn't know the exact situation but the owner handled it amazing! So I stayed and got a pedicure, I was with my aunt who was getting a pedi and a fill. I decided to get the #3 pedicure to take more time while I wait for her. Ok this pedicure was very nice, my toes were cleaned and scrubbed, I got a perafin dip and the works. The massage was the selling point though and it was one of the worst massages I've ever gotten. They kept asking if I wanted a manicure. Finally I gave and got the manicure, just a basic clean and shape, no polish. Again horrible massage, different nail tech, didn't spend more than 1 minute each hand it wasn't even enough to rub the lotion in. The only reason I agree to the manicure was in hopes that the massage would be better then the one I got with the pedicure.Overall they were nice. Seemed clean, decent prices. As a sat getting a pedicure with my wife, we witnessed the manager deal with a disgruntled customer calmly and curtious as she ranted in the store about how the color she chose didn't turn turn out the way she wanted and she didnt have time to get them redone. Chose a color that I wanted for my mani, to find out that color had been replaced by another color. I guess no-one had thought about updating the display. Chose a rather basic design, also displayed, however, none of the techs were able to do it .. it was a very basic design, and 3 techs couldn't figure it out. Ended up with something different that was still cute, but not what I would have picked. Polish seemed old. My pedicure wasn't much better. The lady was in a rush, and I had to point out that my nails hadn't been tended to properly ( she was going to put polish on without cleaning underneath). The water was lukewarm, fair enough; I could've said something. I was there for 2 hrs.. I've been there a handful times, and the results have been varying. Last time they cut my skin, and wiped it with polish remover. They also nicked my 9 yr olds cuticle, to where she stated bleeding. Hygiene seems mediocre. Save your money, go somewhere else. I got a shellac manicure and was there for about an hour, wait time was quick and only about 10 min even though they were busy. Friendly staff but they spent probably a good 25 minutes on my cuticles. I never get manicures so my cuticles were bad but I had two ladies tear the shit out of them so bad they were sore. I always have short nails so they were already close to the nail bed anyway, but they filed them down to nubs and I winced a few times because it hurt. I got home and realized some of my nails looked like they were already detached in the back/like there were bubbles in places. Some of the nails look as if they have a week or 2 of grow out and it's been 24 hours! I stopped in while running some errands and explained how unhappy I was to the guy and he said they looked fine, and there was nothing he could or would do. Refused to give my money back for them. I've NEVER asked for my money back on nails before, not even ON MY WEDDING DAY when they weren't fully painted, had a couple spots that could have been fuller. I paid $120, originally paid $110 until the girl who took my money COMPLAINED that my TIP wasn't enough. Your tip is optional. You get what you get and you don't throw a fit. I know they work hard and deserve a good tip for it, but you don't complain when you think you deserve more, ESPECIALLY when the job was so shotty. I had the worst experience here, i came in asked for a pink and white fill, she started right away...immediately she cut and burned my nail beds with the tools...she cut me at least on every other finger, i asked her if she could paint on a flower and she said yes...i picked out the flower i wanted and it turned out nothing like the one i chose...i asked her to make it bigger and she got annoyed so after the 2nd time i just said forget the flower, she rushed doing my nails and they were not even, some had thicker white tips than others, had rough edges and air bubbles. When I first step in I notice how super clean it is. The owners Danny and Kim were very,very friendly and sweet. All of the workers did a very good nails and pedicure. I went every nail salon but this one was the best! I love when Danny do my nails .I will definatly invite my friends there. It's the BEST!!! P.S. Go there! :) Read Less
