If I could rate 0 stars I would. This is the worst nail place I have ever been to. I decided to give it a try because my usual nail tech that I go to was closed due to construction. I thought to myself that it’s only a fill I’m sure they can just do that, well I thought wrong. I had to keep telling the guy how to do every single one of my nails & he would catch an attitude every time I asked him to do something. Not to mention my nails were thin as ever & the shaping was off. I got a gel color because I always get gel & we got to arguing because I asked him if he could do another clear coat because he put something on my nails and it made them super dull & he caught an attitude about that. All in all, he rushed to do my fill and paint them & it was a crappy job. I will not return to this nail place ever again because it’s always a hassle for u to ask someone how u want your nails to be done & it shouldnt be like that, I want what I’m paying for, period.

Unfortunately this business is inconsistent. I've been here 5-6 times for the spa pedicure ($35), most recently a few weeks ago. The first time I went I was really impressed, but since I've had a couple bad experiences. My most recent visit was the most unfortunate--the technician was clearly new, which isn't a problem in itself, but the fact other workers kept checking on her should have tipped me off. 1) She didn't speak enough English to understand the service I asked for and kept repeating a dollar amount much higher than that of the regular spa pedicure. When it was clear we couldn't figure it out, she gave me a menu of the services and it took another girl coming over to straighten it out. This inability to communicate effectively cased things to go downhill from there. I tried to advocate for what I wanted, but she just didn't understand. 2) It was painful--first the water was freezing then scalding, and she didn't seem to be paying attention to my discomfort. My feet ached the next day. 3) I had to ask for the toe separators so my polish wouldn't smudge. 4) The polish borders weren't clearly defined, with polish on my skin and missing on some of the nail perimeter and it wasn't "smooth" across the nail. The skin around my nails was dry looking and white again later that night. 5) Another worker came over and slept in the chair next to me the whole time. 6) I never actually got to soak my feet for more than 30 seconds. I just wanted to relax and de-stress.
I don't like to complain without giving a place the opportunity to fix it, so when the woman at the front desk asked me how everything was I wanted to explain it to her, but she immediately turned away and started talking to someone else, not even waiting for my response. The whole thing was stressful and anxiety-provoking--the opposite of the relaxing self-care I was there to engage in.
The only time I got a manicure here before flying out for an event, I think the polish was bad. Six hours after the manicure (and having sat under the dryer), I smudged the polish. Noticing they all seemed unset, I took a towel to one hand and wiped it over my nails; the majority of the polish sloughed off, leaving just sticky polish residue behind. The polish on neither hand ever hardened and I had to remove it all.
I hear you can book an appointment with a specific technician, so that's probably the way to go, but to be honest for the anxiety and expense incurred to be dissatisfied, I'll probably just start doing them myself at home again...

First time I went, the experience was amazing. Second time I went for Mother’s Day. I got the spa package which clearly states “extended massage”. After getting my nails polished and parrafin dip, lotion was placed on my legs for all of 10 seconds and the pedicure was done. I asked the lady doing my nails about the extended massage and she had no clue what I was talking about. My friend who also got the same spa package didn’t even get lotion put on her legs. I spoke with the owner and asked her how long the massage is supposed to be. I asked at least three times for clarification as to what an extended massage was. She brushed me off and gave me a discount and that was it. So apparently they like to advertise amazing packages but do exactly the same things as the $28 package no matter what you say.

This is a great hair salon. I always go here if I am in the area and need a hair cut. The staff if professional and I have never been disappointed with any hair cut I have received here. They take time to give you a great haircut and they a friendly and courteous. The store is clean and well decorated. I will definitely come back when I am in the area and need a trim.

This place is horrible, one of the worst experiences ever. I have been here multiple times because my friends insist on coming here because its cheaper. Well cheap is definitely a good way to describe it. I always pay the extra and get a spa pedicure. I always feel rushed, and every time they gauge holes in my toes. I have a very high threshold pain, but even when I winced, complained it hurt, or jerked my foot, she would just look at me and keep going. The girl doing my pedicure was on her cell phone the whole time and acted like she couldn't be bothered. Once I showed my friends the condition of my feet, they were appalled. They've all finally agreed we would find another place to get our nails done.

They didn't bother to trim or clean up after threading or apply any soothing balm, both brows are patchy from over threading and extremely uneven in shape. I will not be returning here and sorry I went. I could've done a better job with the lights out and an electric razor.

The last three times I’ve been to this nail salon have been terrible. Absolutely terrible. The man that sits in the front can NOT paint nails, they look hideous. So this past time I have gone I sat with a woman in the back corner. I wanted white, pure white nails, and she used a dirty brush to dust the powder! So now my nails are slightly pink, they are also very, and I mean very crooked, not to mention how short she cut them, why even put fake nails on if you’re not gonna ask me how long I want them and cut them so short? So glad that when I got home I even saw that the top coat she put on mine was chipping and peeling! Isn’t that fantastic? Also, my mother was very disappointed, her nails are rough on the top? The lady used the wrong top coat and they wouldn’t dry and she had to repeatedly file and mess with her nails until they were dry and now they feel like sand paper on top. Over all our experiences at this place have gotten worse every time, we will not be coming back.

Called to make sure I didn't need an appointment. The lady was very friendly and asked if I have ever been there. Of course I haven't :) Came in a couple hours later with my 8 year old to get mani/pedis before Christmas and she knew I was the one who had called. There was so many people in there, but so many more employees as well. We were seated quickly and 1.5 hours later, I had my gel nails perfectly painted on and my 8 year old couldn't stop talking about the massage and scrub. We are new to the area, but are very happy to find this place around the corner from our home. The women were so very sweet to both of us and made my 8 year old feel very special. We will be back. Oh...the price I paid for both of our manis/pedis was nothing compared to what I have paid in the past. I was very satisfied and yes I always tip!

The nail salon I normally go to was closed so I’ve had many people recommend this place to me. I went in and I had no appointment and they took me and I sat down within 2 minutes. The girl doing my nails took her time and asked me if I liked them and I was 100% satisfied. My nails look better than they ever have (I got an acrylic set) and the price was not bad. Little pricey but it’s nothing to throw a fit over. I left her a good tip. Highly recommend this place.

She clipped my skin when she clipped my little toes and my manicure looks like its been growing out for 2 weeks. I made the mistake of paying and tipping before she was finished. Never again! She also used a old nail file that had been used on other people. Gross.

I have my nails done in the uk every 3 weeks & have never been so disappointed. Within 1 day the top coat which had blistered started peeling off. My nails do not look anything like how good they normally do. I wouldn't recommend this salon.

Wanted to get my nails done before my photo shoot for my wedding this weekend and let me tell you.. Gina did an amazing job!! I'm so particular about getting my nails done, and she went above and beyond to make sure my French tip gel polish was everything I wanted and more. She took her time to make sure they were all equal and perfect. I told her I'll be back to see her soon! I and a coworker went by chance because it was close to the job. I definitely didn't care for not being greeted when walking in and the place looked like a cluster of chaos. Kids in the back loud getting there services, over crowded space of random stuff for retail and not none to clean. I always bring my polish wherever i go. But when me and my coworker were at the pedicure chairs not once did I see any cleaning solution used to clean any of the foot tubs or chairs or even the implements as people were leaving or coming in for services. I had to literally raise my voice and repeat myself 4 times to ask what the pedicure services entailed. The green slime gunk that was used as a scrub in the open container was way to rough on my skin and sliced my skin on my left foot which caused further irritation to the remainder of my pedicure. And then my manicure was not pleasant either, my cuticles were butchered with the cuticle cutter. I had to use neosporin a few days after the fact they split open and were sore. Then realized later on my nails were filed unevenly and I had to correct this myself when I got home. My coworker on the other hand didn't like the fact that the red nail polish on her toes were stained on her skin and that they cur her toenails way too short. So definitely not a place we will be visiting again.

Was surprised out how busy this place was! Did not take but a minute for 3 of us to get seated though. I wish the woman who was doing my 10yr old granddaughter spent time talking to her, this was her first time and the woman barely spoke a word other than instructions, and she was interrupted twice by a coworker whispering in her ear and distracting her. The woman who did my nails was great and I would seek her out again and my other granddaughter had a good experience. Definitely will go back.

Have come here quite a few times, it's the only nail place I go to in Williamsburg. Only reason it's not 5 star is because one time they were busy and my nail job was very rushed, uneven, and the technician didn't clean off most of the Polish that got on the cuticle. Plus there was dust and bits of filed nail painted into the color. Other than that every experience I've had here had been superb.

Just wanted to tell you guys about my experience at Nails Uptown. My tech name is Terry. She is phenomenal! I originally went to her because I have always had very fair, thin eyebrows. I heard of a procedure they call microblading before and my friend Stephanie told me to go see Terry. I am so glad I did! I look like a different person with new eyebrows. I didn't stop there lol. She has also done my mink eyelashes as well. They look so natural and are very easy to care for. I love this place and I love Terry! She has treated me like family since the day I met her. If you ever want a 5 star experience for you nails, waxing or lashes please go to Nails Uptown and ask for Terry and tell her Kisha sent you!

Fantastic establishment with excellent customer service and fair prices. They make you feel welcome as soon as you walk into the door. I have not tried the hair salon yet but after so many great experiences there, I will likely try that portion of their business soon.

I decided a long time ago I would no longer visit this salon because although there usually isn't much of a wait , the quality sucks! Because I didn't have time to visit my usual salon (in Newport News) I decided to go to this salon for a simple polish change. The day before Christmas! The guy asked me 3 times if I wanted gel I told him no each time. He suggested this pretty color so I chose to get that one. When done, going to pay I was told my total was $18. Knowing gel is more I went ahead && paid. By the 26th (2days later) my gel polish I paid $18 for was chipping. Called Jenny she told me to come back. When I got there for my polish change , I couldn't find the exact color he suggested. No problem, found something close. the girl was "buffing" my nail only to paint over the chipped parts. If I paid $18 for a polish change 3days before all of my nails should have been done completely over. Jenny is unaware of quality && I will not return !

I've tried other salons since moving to Williamsburg two years ago but they paled in comparison...... big time! To be completely truthful, I have had two or three not so super experiences; one when treating my sisters ( visiting from out of town) to mani-pedis, the nail tech stepped away without a word, mid pedicure - leaving one sister for over half an hour, un...finished. He never said a word or cane back...... until we were leaving & he was looking for a tip. The second time was being attended to by a nail technician with a horrible cold - coughing & hacking away - not the experience I was looking forward to. I also do not appreciate someone risking my health & wellbeing. Two not good experiences out of 50 visits..... that's a great record! My Mom & I gave recently expanded our patronage to the hair salon as well. I do and will continue to recommend Nails & Hair Uptown See More

I came in for a gel manicure this past Saturday around 11:30am. It was pretty busy but I was helped right away! They had a great selection of gel polish colors to choose from and they were helpful in helping me choose the perfect colors. I cannot remember the woman's name who did my nails but she was terrific! She was very meticulous in ensuring my nails were perfect (unlike some places where there are obvious mistakes/sloppiness). She even tried 3 different types of gold sparkling polish until she found one that would cover the nail without being too sparse. She was very friendly and we held a nice conversation the whole time she did my nails. I will be returning in the future and would absolutely recommend!

I love this place. I see My and her sister Teresa. I tried another girl my second time, and wasn't quite as happy, mainly because she shaped my nails differently, and gave me one less coat of white on my tips and they chipped a little after ten days, but I'm a dog groomer so I am so hard on my nails! I went in asking for dip nails and they advised against it, but offered to do one for free to let me try it out. I decided to take their advice (the owner and My both), and just get a good manicure with gel polish. So glad I did! I always get a manicure so my polish won't lift, and I've never had a problem. I will say they're nice about walkins, but most of the techs have scheduled appointments with their regulars throughout the day, so you are taking a chance that you might not get your favorite tech or services at all if they're really busy. My friend sees one of the male techs for her gel tips and she literally has the most beautiful nails I've ever seen. I'm happy.

Best is an understatement, this place is GREAT! Update: my girlfriend just checked out and they charge her $20 for doing gel on her toes so it was $70 for a pedicure. NOT WORTH IT. They told her $50 then went to check out and it was $70. Who charges $20 for shellac. What a RIP OFF

My best friend and I came here to get our prom mani/pedi done! We came the day before and thankfully it wasn't too crowded. We were directed to sit down almost right away which was nice, but we had to wait about 10-15 minutes until a nail tech came to our seats. Although he was nice, I could smell cigarette smoke on him. I hope it didn't bother my friend.Our nails turned out AMAZING!! I got almond-shaped sparkly silver acrylics which are beautiful and go great with my dress. The PRICE was great too. I used a gift certificate (for mani/pedi) and paid the difference (of about $14) for my acrylic nails (only fingernails were acrylic).I do have a pretty major complaint though. During my pedicure, the nail tech massaged my feet, but it was a bit too rough. She wasn't massaging the arch of my foot enough, and was pushing too hard on my bone. Now, the ball of my right foot hurts pretty badly and I'm not sure how I'll do tomorrow at prom with my heels. Ouch....

My friend has been getting her nails done here for 3 years and constantly raves about the work Aaron and Terry do. When I was visiting her last weekend, I needed a fill and luckily Aaron and Terry fit me in on Sunday. My experience was both good and bad. The good news is I got a $20 acrylic fill that included 2 nails with art. The bad news is, it looks like I had a $10 manicure done by someone who has never done nails before. The whole experience started off bad because Aaron was 10 minutes late. Not late because of another customer. Late because he wasn't there yet. Then he did my fill and paint in less than 20 minutes which is great except that it LOOKED like he only took 20 minutes to do it. It's one thing to be fast and good, but this was fast and terrible. Now my nails have acrylic that's hardened in the sides of my nail bed and underneath the tips. He cut large chunks of skin away from the tops of my fingertips that are now scabbing over 2 days later. He didn't even take the time to fully remove the polish I came in wearing. There is clearly blue polish in my cuticles and sides of every single nail. Then the nail polish he put on was horrible. Even though I picked an OPI color, he put it on really thickly so now it's bubbling up and looks like a hot mess. The only redeeming part was the nail art Terry did. It was beautiful and she did it in less than a blink of an eye. Unfortunately because the rest of the fill/manicure is so horrible, I need to go somewhere else today and have it all redone because I'm embarrassed to have people look at it.I'm so confused as to how this place got voted Best of Williamsburg for so many years. I showed my friend who is a regular the results and she was shocked at how terrible it was so I know I'm not being overly critical. I will never go back there and it makes me worry about trying any place else in the city if this is the best the city has to offer.

So I initially came to Nails Uptown because they were close to where I live, their prices are decent, and when I called they actually said they did CND Solar Nails. Hallelujah! Unfortunately, they scheduled me with someone who doesn't work with artificial nails (mine is an acrylic overlaying my natural nails), but they were able to accommodate me with another technician who does Solar Nails. Yay!Needless to say, Aaron has been doing my nails for over four months now and I am always impressed. He has made some great suggestions on different techniques. There have been some scheduling snafus (I always make an appointment, but they had accidently triple booked him), but Jenny was quick to reschedule me and compensate me for my time. I even bring my 8 year old daughter and boyfriend for pedicures! They love the newly added space for pedicures and are always treated well.

My favorite days to go are Thursdays, because it is their slowest day and very quiet!On Mondays and Tuesdays they offer a manicure and pedicure special for (I think) $25 or $35 dollars. On Sundays you get a free mimosa! And any day of the week you get a 15% discount off of your bill with a Yelp check in.The owner Jenny is very nice and always smiling wanting to keep her customers happy and coming back.My favorite Nail Techs are Haley and Katie.Great prices, great service!!!

I like the atmosphere there and cannot beat the prices for the area. Also like that they serve Smoothies or other drinks while you're there so you can relax! I received the Spa pedicure which was what I needed after a long week at work. The spa package is a great deal including hot towels, paraffin wax, mud, salt scrub and lotion. The only complaint I have was that my nail polish was of poor quality and actually started to run off my nails after leaving the salon. I sat underneath the drying booth for a good ten minutes or more after the pedicure and the nail polish just ran off my nails! I will return and perhaps bring my own color next time but I don't foresee this as an issue in the future.

I really like it here! Their Monday/Tuesday $25 mani/pedi special is a steal! I've never needed to make an appointment and I've never had to wait. Only complaint is that the gel manicure is insanely expensive (even if you just ask for gel polish), but there isn't any place around here that will do it cheaper, so it's not really a valid complaint. The market is the market. I've also gotten my eyebrows and arms waxed here and had no complaints. I asked the girl who was doing my eyebrows to take care not to make them too thin and to just clean up, and she did a great job!I can particularly recommend Rachel for mani/pedis--she's really friendly and does a great job!

I absolutely love nails uptown. My fiancé and I went for mani/pedis and it was quite the treat. The staff is super nice and accommodating. The pedicure was EXTREMELY relaxing. We had the organic spa pedicure and afterwords my legs and feet felt sooooo smooth. They also did a great job making sure we were comfortable. First nail salon I've been too that has an array of drink options (wine, water, smoothies). My nails and toes look absolutely fabulous. Will DEFINITELY be going again next time I'm home.

First few experiences were decent. But they are very sneaky about adding on to the total price of whatever you're getting done. I have gel nails with the shellac polish. The last time I got my nails done the guy asked me if I wanted them cut down so I said yes but just a little bit. When I was done and went to check out my total was $36! Usually i pay about $33 then he told me that getting my nails cut down (even though I only had the very tip cut off!) was $3 extra! I realize $3 isn't a substantial amount but don't try to trick me into it. If a something cost extra tell your client! Don't wait until the last minute while they are paying. Very sneaky and in my mind, unethical. So I just want to tell you all to beware. The prices here are always changing like that. If they think you will fall for it they will try to add one to your final price.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. This is the worst nail place I have ever been to. I decided to give it a try because my usual nail tech that I go to was closed due to construction. I thought to myself that it’s only a fill I’m sure they can just do that, well I thought wrong. I had to keep telling the guy how to do every single one of my nails & he would catch an attitude every time I asked him to do something. Not to mention my nails were thin as ever & the shaping was off. I got a gel color because I always get gel & we got to arguing because I asked him if he could do another clear coat because he put something on my nails and it made them super dull & he caught an attitude about that. All in all, he rushed to do my fill and paint them & it was a crappy job. I will not return to this nail place ever again because it’s always a hassle for u to ask someone how u want your nails to be done & it shouldnt be like that, I want what I’m paying for, period.

Unfortunately this business is inconsistent. I've been here 5-6 times for the spa pedicure ($35), most recently a few weeks ago. The first time I went I was really impressed, but since I've had a couple bad experiences. My most recent visit was the most unfortunate--the technician was clearly new, which isn't a problem in itself, but the fact other workers kept checking on her should have tipped me off. 1) She didn't speak enough English to understand the service I asked for and kept repeating a dollar amount much higher than that of the regular spa pedicure. When it was clear we couldn't figure it out, she gave me a menu of the services and it took another girl coming over to straighten it out. This inability to communicate effectively cased things to go downhill from there. I tried to advocate for what I wanted, but she just didn't understand. 2) It was painful--first the water was freezing then scalding, and she didn't seem to be paying attention to my discomfort. My feet ached the next day. 3) I had to ask for the toe separators so my polish wouldn't smudge. 4) The polish borders weren't clearly defined, with polish on my skin and missing on some of the nail perimeter and it wasn't "smooth" across the nail. The skin around my nails was dry looking and white again later that night. 5) Another worker came over and slept in the chair next to me the whole time. 6) I never actually got to soak my feet for more than 30 seconds. I just wanted to relax and de-stress.
I don't like to complain without giving a place the opportunity to fix it, so when the woman at the front desk asked me how everything was I wanted to explain it to her, but she immediately turned away and started talking to someone else, not even waiting for my response. The whole thing was stressful and anxiety-provoking--the opposite of the relaxing self-care I was there to engage in.
The only time I got a manicure here before flying out for an event, I think the polish was bad. Six hours after the manicure (and having sat under the dryer), I smudged the polish. Noticing they all seemed unset, I took a towel to one hand and wiped it over my nails; the majority of the polish sloughed off, leaving just sticky polish residue behind. The polish on neither hand ever hardened and I had to remove it all.
I hear you can book an appointment with a specific technician, so that's probably the way to go, but to be honest for the anxiety and expense incurred to be dissatisfied, I'll probably just start doing them myself at home again...

First time I went, the experience was amazing. Second time I went for Mother’s Day. I got the spa package which clearly states “extended massage”. After getting my nails polished and parrafin dip, lotion was placed on my legs for all of 10 seconds and the pedicure was done. I asked the lady doing my nails about the extended massage and she had no clue what I was talking about. My friend who also got the same spa package didn’t even get lotion put on her legs. I spoke with the owner and asked her how long the massage is supposed to be. I asked at least three times for clarification as to what an extended massage was. She brushed me off and gave me a discount and that was it. So apparently they like to advertise amazing packages but do exactly the same things as the $28 package no matter what you say.
I won’t be going back.

This place is horrible, one of the worst experiences ever. I have been here multiple times because my friends insist on coming here because its cheaper. Well cheap is definitely a good way to describe it. I always pay the extra and get a spa pedicure. I always feel rushed, and every time they gauge holes in my toes. I have a very high threshold pain, but even when I winced, complained it hurt, or jerked my foot, she would just look at me and keep going. The girl doing my pedicure was on her cell phone the whole time and acted like she couldn't be bothered. Once I showed my friends the condition of my feet, they were appalled. They've all finally agreed we would find another place to get our nails done.

The last three times I’ve been to this nail salon have been terrible. Absolutely terrible. The man that sits in the front can NOT paint nails, they look hideous. So this past time I have gone I sat with a woman in the back corner. I wanted white, pure white nails, and she used a dirty brush to dust the powder! So now my nails are slightly pink, they are also very, and I mean very crooked, not to mention how short she cut them, why even put fake nails on if you’re not gonna ask me how long I want them and cut them so short? So glad that when I got home I even saw that the top coat she put on mine was chipping and peeling! Isn’t that fantastic? Also, my mother was very disappointed, her nails are rough on the top? The lady used the wrong top coat and they wouldn’t dry and she had to repeatedly file and mess with her nails until they were dry and now they feel like sand paper on top. Over all our experiences at this place have gotten worse every time, we will not be coming back.

Called to make sure I didn't need an appointment. The lady was very friendly and asked if I have ever been there. Of course I haven't :) Came in a couple hours later with my 8 year old to get mani/pedis before Christmas and she knew I was the one who had called. There was so many people in there, but so many more employees as well. We were seated quickly and 1.5 hours later, I had my gel nails perfectly painted on and my 8 year old couldn't stop talking about the massage and scrub. We are new to the area, but are very happy to find this place around the corner from our home. The women were so very sweet to both of us and made my 8 year old feel very special. We will be back. Oh...the price I paid for both of our manis/pedis was nothing compared to what I have paid in the past. I was very satisfied and yes I always tip!

The nail salon I normally go to was closed so I’ve had many people recommend this place to me. I went in and I had no appointment and they took me and I sat down within 2 minutes. The girl doing my nails took her time and asked me if I liked them and I was 100% satisfied. My nails look better than they ever have (I got an acrylic set) and the price was not bad. Little pricey but it’s nothing to throw a fit over. I left her a good tip. Highly recommend this place.

I and a coworker went by chance because it was close to the job. I definitely didn't care for not being greeted when walking in and the place looked like a cluster of chaos. Kids in the back loud getting there services, over crowded space of random stuff for retail and not none to clean. I always bring my polish wherever i go. But when me and my coworker were at the pedicure chairs not once did I see any cleaning solution used to clean any of the foot tubs or chairs or even the implements as people were leaving or coming in for services. I had to literally raise my voice and repeat myself 4 times to ask what the pedicure services entailed. The green slime gunk that was used as a scrub in the open container was way to rough on my skin and sliced my skin on my left foot which caused further irritation to the remainder of my pedicure. And then my manicure was not pleasant either, my cuticles were butchered with the cuticle cutter. I had to use neosporin a few days after the fact they split open and were sore. Then realized later on my nails were filed unevenly and I had to correct this myself when I got home. My coworker on the other hand didn't like the fact that the red nail polish on her toes were stained on her skin and that they cur her toenails way too short. So definitely not a place we will be visiting again.

Was surprised out how busy this place was! Did not take but a minute for 3 of us to get seated though. I wish the woman who was doing my 10yr old granddaughter spent time talking to her, this was her first time and the woman barely spoke a word other than instructions, and she was interrupted twice by a coworker whispering in her ear and distracting her. The woman who did my nails was great and I would seek her out again and my other granddaughter had a good experience. Definitely will go back.

Only reason it's not 5 star is because one time they were busy and my nail job was very rushed, uneven, and the technician didn't clean off most of the Polish that got on the cuticle. I heard of a procedure they call microblading before and my friend Stephanie told me to go see Terry. I am so glad I did! I look like a different person with new eyebrows. I didn't stop there lol. She has also done my mink eyelashes as well. They look so natural and are very easy to care for. I love this place and I love Terry! She has treated me like family since the day I met her. I decided a long time ago I would no longer visit this salon because although there usually isn't much of a wait , the quality sucks! Because I didn't have time to visit my usual salon (in Newport News) I decided to go to this salon for a simple polish change. The day before Christmas! The guy asked me 3 times if I wanted gel I told him no each time. He suggested this pretty color so I chose to get that one. When done, going to pay I was told my total was $18. Knowing gel is more I went ahead && paid. By the 26th (2days later) my gel polish I paid $18 for was chipping. Called Jenny she told me to come back. When I got there for my polish change , I couldn't find the exact color he suggested. No problem, found something close. the girl was "buffing" my nail only to paint over the chipped parts. If I paid $18 for a polish change 3days before all of my nails should have been done completely over. Jenny is unaware of quality && I will not return !

To be completely truthful, I have had two or three not so super experiences; one when treating my sisters ( visiting from out of town) to mani-pedis, the nail tech stepped away without a word, mid pedicure - leaving one sister for over half an hour, un...finished. He never said a word or cane back...... until we were leaving & he was looking for a tip. The second time was being attended to by a nail technician with a horrible cold - coughing & hacking away - not the experience I was looking forward to. I also do not appreciate someone risking my health & wellbeing. Two not good experiences out of 50 visits..... that's a great record! My Mom & I gave recently expanded our patronage to the hair salon as well. I do and will continue to recommend Nails & Hair Uptown See More

I came in for a gel manicure this past Saturday around 11:30am. It was pretty busy but I was helped right away! They had a great selection of gel polish colors to choose from and they were helpful in helping me choose the perfect colors. I cannot remember the woman's name who did my nails but she was terrific! She was very meticulous in ensuring my nails were perfect (unlike some places where there are obvious mistakes/sloppiness). She even tried 3 different types of gold sparkling polish until she found one that would cover the nail without being too sparse. She was very friendly and we held a nice conversation the whole time she did my nails. I will be returning in the future and would absolutely recommend!

I love this place. I see My and her sister Teresa. I tried another girl my second time, and wasn't quite as happy, mainly because she shaped my nails differently, and gave me one less coat of white on my tips and they chipped a little after ten days, but I'm a dog groomer so I am so hard on my nails! I went in asking for dip nails and they advised against it, but offered to do one for free to let me try it out. I decided to take their advice (the owner and My both), and just get a good manicure with gel polish. So glad I did! I always get a manicure so my polish won't lift, and I've never had a problem. I will say they're nice about walkins, but most of the techs have scheduled appointments with their regulars throughout the day, so you are taking a chance that you might not get your favorite tech or services at all if they're really busy. My friend sees one of the male techs for her gel tips and she literally has the most beautiful nails I've ever seen. I'm happy.

Best is an understatement, this place is GREAT! Update: my girlfriend just checked out and they charge her $20 for doing gel on her toes so it was $70 for a pedicure. NOT WORTH IT. They told her $50 then went to check out and it was $70. Who charges $20 for shellac. What a RIP OFF

My best friend and I came here to get our prom mani/pedi done! We came the day before and thankfully it wasn't too crowded. We were directed to sit down almost right away which was nice, but we had to wait about 10-15 minutes until a nail tech came to our seats. Although he was nice, I could smell cigarette smoke on him. I hope it didn't bother my friend.Our nails turned out AMAZING!! I got almond-shaped sparkly silver acrylics which are beautiful and go great with my dress. The PRICE was great too. I used a gift certificate (for mani/pedi) and paid the difference (of about $14) for my acrylic nails (only fingernails were acrylic).I do have a pretty major complaint though. During my pedicure, the nail tech massaged my feet, but it was a bit too rough. She wasn't massaging the arch of my foot enough, and was pushing too hard on my bone. Now, the ball of my right foot hurts pretty badly and I'm not sure how I'll do tomorrow at prom with my heels. Ouch....

My friend has been getting her nails done here for 3 years and constantly raves about the work Aaron and Terry do. When I was visiting her last weekend, I needed a fill and luckily Aaron and Terry fit me in on Sunday. My experience was both good and bad. The good news is I got a $20 acrylic fill that included 2 nails with art. The bad news is, it looks like I had a $10 manicure done by someone who has never done nails before. The whole experience started off bad because Aaron was 10 minutes late. Not late because of another customer. Late because he wasn't there yet. Then he did my fill and paint in less than 20 minutes which is great except that it LOOKED like he only took 20 minutes to do it. It's one thing to be fast and good, but this was fast and terrible. Now my nails have acrylic that's hardened in the sides of my nail bed and underneath the tips. He cut large chunks of skin away from the tops of my fingertips that are now scabbing over 2 days later. He didn't even take the time to fully remove the polish I came in wearing. There is clearly blue polish in my cuticles and sides of every single nail. Then the nail polish he put on was horrible. Even though I picked an OPI color, he put it on really thickly so now it's bubbling up and looks like a hot mess. The only redeeming part was the nail art Terry did. It was beautiful and she did it in less than a blink of an eye. Unfortunately because the rest of the fill/manicure is so horrible, I need to go somewhere else today and have it all redone because I'm embarrassed to have people look at it.I'm so confused as to how this place got voted Best of Williamsburg for so many years. I showed my friend who is a regular the results and she was shocked at how terrible it was so I know I'm not being overly critical. I will never go back there and it makes me worry about trying any place else in the city if this is the best the city has to offer.

So I initially came to Nails Uptown because they were close to where I live, their prices are decent, and when I called they actually said they did CND Solar Nails. Hallelujah! Unfortunately, they scheduled me with someone who doesn't work with artificial nails (mine is an acrylic overlaying my natural nails), but they were able to accommodate me with another technician who does Solar Nails. Yay!Needless to say, Aaron has been doing my nails for over four months now and I am always impressed. He has made some great suggestions on different techniques. There have been some scheduling snafus (I always make an appointment, but they had accidently triple booked him), but Jenny was quick to reschedule me and compensate me for my time. I even bring my 8 year old daughter and boyfriend for pedicures! They love the newly added space for pedicures and are always treated well.

I have been to Uptown Nails several and more often than not had a great experience.I never have to wait as a walk in, because the owner keeps her shop fully staffed at all times. My favorite days to go are Thursdays, because it is their slowest day and very quiet!On Mondays and Tuesdays they offer a manicure and pedicure special for (I think) $25 or $35 dollars. On Sundays you get a free mimosa! And any day of the week you get a 15% discount off of your bill with a Yelp check in.The owner Jenny is very nice and always smiling wanting to keep her customers happy and coming back.My favorite Nail Techs are Haley and Katie.Great prices, great service!!!

I like the atmosphere there and cannot beat the prices for the area. Also like that they serve Smoothies or other drinks while you're there so you can relax! I received the Spa pedicure which was what I needed after a long week at work. The spa package is a great deal including hot towels, paraffin wax, mud, salt scrub and lotion. The only complaint I have was that my nail polish was of poor quality and actually started to run off my nails after leaving the salon. I sat underneath the drying booth for a good ten minutes or more after the pedicure and the nail polish just ran off my nails! I will return and perhaps bring my own color next time but I don't foresee this as an issue in the future.

I really like it here! Their Monday/Tuesday $25 mani/pedi special is a steal! I've never needed to make an appointment and I've never had to wait. Only complaint is that the gel manicure is insanely expensive (even if you just ask for gel polish), but there isn't any place around here that will do it cheaper, so it's not really a valid complaint. The market is the market. I've also gotten my eyebrows and arms waxed here and had no complaints. I asked the girl who was doing my eyebrows to take care not to make them too thin and to just clean up, and she did a great job!I can particularly recommend Rachel for mani/pedis--she's really friendly and does a great job!

I absolutely love nails uptown. My fiancé and I went for mani/pedis and it was quite the treat. The staff is super nice and accommodating. The pedicure was EXTREMELY relaxing. We had the organic spa pedicure and afterwords my legs and feet felt sooooo smooth. They also did a great job making sure we were comfortable. First nail salon I've been too that has an array of drink options (wine, water, smoothies). My nails and toes look absolutely fabulous. Will DEFINITELY be going again next time I'm home.

First few experiences were decent. But they are very sneaky about adding on to the total price of whatever you're getting done. I have gel nails with the shellac polish. The last time I got my nails done the guy asked me if I wanted them cut down so I said yes but just a little bit. When I was done and went to check out my total was $36! Usually i pay about $33 then he told me that getting my nails cut down (even though I only had the very tip cut off!) was $3 extra! I realize $3 isn't a substantial amount but don't try to trick me into it. If a something cost extra tell your client! Don't wait until the last minute while they are paying. Very sneaky and in my mind, unethical. So I just want to tell you all to beware. The prices here are always changing like that. If they think you will fall for it they will try to add one to your final price.
