Wish I could give 0 stars. I've been to this place several times, trying to give them a chance. Substandard almost every time, but the worst was last time. I needed to have my acrylics removed (i.e. SOAKED OFF!) and requested this. The lady ignored me and said they were easy to get off, and then pried them off ruthlessly. I should have stopped her, it hurt so bad, but I figured she knew what she was doing. What's left of my nail beds have been in pain ever since and I know now that she's was just being lazy and cruel. If you're looking for a terribly serviced nail place then please come here! I asked for a simple manicure and there was a problem with every nail. The nail polish was cracked on every nail and when I asked if she could fix it she was extremely rude about it. But the eyebrow service was pretty good. Still terrible service here. Read Less

Sorry about all the negative reviews...this NOT one of them.  They greet everyone the minute they walk in the door...I did have a problem with a nail tech a few years ago and stopped going for a while because I didn't feel right about walking in and saying I wanted someone else -- that was problem.  Gave them another chance since I just wasn't up to driving to the place I changed to...nail tech and some others that were a problem were gone.  I have been seeing Tracey regularly and my daughter in law sees Sandy.  We have been seeing Tracey and Sandy for years now-- no complaints!  When our regular techs are on vacation we see someone else if we can't wait for their return...some techs are better than others..you get that wherever you go!  Generally new techs that don't do a good job are let go rather quickly.  The last nails place I went to for a couple of years served a plate of fresh fruit and a GLASS of ice water to each customer and their prices were a bit less than star.  But I like Tracey and my DIL likes Sandy, so we will stay with Star.  I have taken my 3 young (under 10) granddaughters there on rare occasions...and I would agree that giving a child an abbreviated mani or pedi is EXPENSIVE..they really do need to make it more cost acceptable for children. I paid more here than I did for a children "mani" or children's "pedi" than at the beach--which is why they go with us maybe once year.  Children's costs are why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Do not come here if you're looking for good service or a good manicure. I came here for a manicure and had to wait 20 minutes for someone to even welcome me and be helped. The lady who did my manicure hardly filed my nails and took only 10 minutes for the whole manicure. She did a poor paint job(could've done better myself) and messed up one of my nails. When I pointed it out she wiped it with her finger and painted over it which made it look even more messed up. Will never come here again. I would give this no stars if it was an option. Read Less

Service was poor and they were completely rude. Went with my mother and little daughters for a girls day treat. Asked them about pricing for manicures for little girls and they looked surprised as though how could I expect to pay less for a six year old whose nail is so small. Then all they did was talk in Vietnamese to each other and I really felt they were talking about us. Seemed obvious to me from their mannerism but then again I don't speak Vietnamese. Place is somewhat run down and looks as though it needs renovating. My friend and I went and while the lady that did my pedicure was nice and did an OK job, the lady my friend got really did a poor job. They seem to have lower prices but really push you to get a more expensive pedicure and if you decline apparently you get completely robbed of any leg or foot massage. Going to have our nails done is a treat for my daughter and I which happens only a few times a year. We went to star nails yesterday where the manicurist treated me rudely without a greeting or so much as a smile. I got a gel manicure which cost 32 dollars and it took her maybe 15 minutes. She was grabbing my hand from underneath the light before it was finished for the next coat and at one time turned me over to someone else who refiled my nails after they had gel on them because they weren't done properly the first time. I've been getting my eyebrows done here since I started waxing mine. They always do a great job, with shaping and with how thick/thin you want them. I've also gotten several pedicures, which were well done and lasted a long time. Read Less

My teenage daughter and I had a great experience here today.  We enjoyed wonderful pedicures.  I've also had my eyebrows waxed here several times.  The staff are friendly, and I've never had to wait very long.  I think the prices are reasonable as well. Read Less

I had been going here for years.  I stopped going a while ago because of the rudeness.  I thought i would try again since it looked like their staff turned over.  Nope!!! The nail techs are nothing but a load of judgmental gossips, they try to upsell everything and then talk about you in their language if you say no...sorry but everyone knows you're talking about your customers.  Doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that out.  You need to give some training on customer service to your staff.  The only reason you are still in business is because of the convenience factor.  I would love to see someone else come in and take away all your customers. The only reason for 1 star is the location. Stopped going to StarNails but thought I would give them another try. Big mistake! My daughters technician cut  her finger while removing cuticles and was bothered when it started bleeding. Mine cut my foot. She was also apparently suffering from a cold or allergies. While doing my manicure she blew her nose I asked her to please wash her hands and in a very rude tone said "it is just allergies".  The next 30 minutes were all of the employees chatting about my comment and laughing. I know this because of the term "allergies" being said over and over again. Its a shame that a business that is so close to home I will not be going back. Read Less

I went here with my friend to get a mani and a pedi.  It should've tipped me off that a $30 mani pedi wouldn't be amazing but the way they removed my cuticles was very damaging and even two months later they haven't recovered.  NEVER going back there again. Read Less

I've had my nails done by a wonderful technician here several times but unfortunately she was not working today when I went for a pedicure and manicure.  I had Anne do my pedicure and she was so rude and unpleasant that I couldn't wait to leave.   It was supposed to be a spa pedicure and honestly she barely touched my feet.  It was the shortest pedicure I've ever had.  I skipped the manicure and i wish I had the guts to walk out without giving her a tip ( I did give her less than my usual tip). I agree with the other reviews it doesn't take much to know she is talking about you in her native language while you are sitting right in front of her.  She is really giving this place a bad reputation because there are some nice people who work there. Not only are they overpriced, but the quality of service doesn't match the price point, either.I stopped in one weekday afternoon before heading on vacation to get a pedicure and gel manicure.  I'm used to be able to show my technician a picture or a style or design I'd like for the pedicure and they work it out with their own flare.  I won't even complain about the design aspect.  Granted, I asked for straight lines on an accent nail.  I could have done better with a bottle of white out.What I didn't like??1. It took over two hours to get a pedicure and gel manicure.  Not a spa or deluxe pedicure, but a regular pedicure and gel manicure.  2. My toe nails were cut at such an awkward angle that the feel of them against the sheets that first night had me pulling out the nail file at 2am.3. They still use the razor to shave off dead skin on the feet.  Every other nail spa I have been to stopped this unsafe, unsanitary practice YEARS ago.4.  The gel polish on my finger started lifting and peeling within 2 days.  And in less than a week, three nails have broken.  I went on a cruise, not rock climbing.  There's no reason why I should have experienced this level of damage to my nails.In all, I spent $71 (not including a tip) for a regular pedicure with a design on one accent nail and a gel manicure (and accent nail).  Something I normally pay no more than $60 for.I won't ever return to Star Nails. I usually do not add negative reviews - but this was BAD!! Nail salons are places that need to be clean and comfortable -   Not much to ask when they are charging high prices and using instruments that need to be sterilized on you. VERY DIRTY!!! I will not return!! The staff was rude and no one spoke English !! I am not prejudice - but the banter was so loud you couldn't hold a normal conversation . I've been going to Five Star Nails for over 5 years.  Two years ago, I developed a toe fungus and when I asked my "regular" manicurist to please sterilize the utensils prior to using them with, she laughed and started talking in Vietnamese to the other manicurists.  She told me I didn't get the fungus from them.  So, I switched to another salon for 8 months -- and my toe fungus got better and disappeared.  I decided to go back to Five Star and the manicurist I had been seeing for 5 years.  On the very first visit for a pedicure, I got a toe fungus again.The wax machine toward the back of the shop is filfthy -- it's really gross.  I mentioned it to the owner and she said they don't use it anymore.  I suggested she remove it from the sink area as it disgusting to see.  She laughed and started talking to the other in Vietnamese.I actually love the mani/pedi's I get from my regular woman, but the store is filfthy.  Doesn't the health department ever walk in these places to inspect them?  Five Start would be closed in a heartbeat.  I have since found a new salon (they are practically on every corner) and they sterilize their utensils for every single manicure and pedicure.  They wash out their pedicure tubs with sterilizer.  I've only been going a month, so let's see how this one does.Warning to those who venture to Five Stars:  You risk getting a fungus or other infections as they use the same utensils over and over on every one that walks in the door.  They DO NOT sterilize them -- not even at the end of the day. I was happy that their was a nail salon close to my house. I should have known that it was not going to be a great experience when I walked in and it was empty. I had a manicure and pedicure which were "completed" in 30 minutes. My heels were still cracked, my toenails were still a mess, I had been gardening (the reason for the pedicure) and their was still dirt under my nails. I've written a review about Star Nails before, but it looks like it disappeared.  I rated it 4 stars previously and recommended Susan, but I went back recently and I came back to downgrade to one star.  I arrived as a walk-in for a mani-pedi on a weekend.  It was okay, but neither lasted as long as I'd like or have experienced with other nail technicians.   The toenails were a little messy, the tips weren't painted over.  The worst part was the endless gossiping by the nail techs about their customers in another language.  You do not need a translator to understand what is being said.  BuhBye.There are plenty of other choices for nails.  I've heard good things about the nail  salon at the corner of OKM Rd and Rolling Rd by JAXX. I will not ever frequent this business again. I popped in for a nail touch-up, and asked for a $12 manicure. The owner immediately asked me if I wanted special "gel" nail polish, which was better. I said no. She asked at least 3 times and I said no each time. She was taking forever and I was late for work, so I told her I needed to be done soon. She told me a french manicure would be faster, which doesn't logically make sense but I just wanted to be out of there. Actually, it takes longer and costs more money. In the end, she tried to triple the price of the $12 manicure I walked in for, without even letting me know. By the way, the manicure was sub-par. Read Less

Sure I'll take the razor to my toesies to remove the nasties that develop from my MMA class. Of course the next intelligent decision to make is to  douse my feet in nail polish remover AFTER running the razor. It's ok, it only burns and stings. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you remove the nail polish before everything else... Following this foot burning experience, skip the foot rub entirely and do a "meh" job at painting my toesies. I know I shouldn't have let out a sigh of disappointment. What more should I expect out of a $22 pedicure? :( Read Less
