I went in with my sister and we both got pedicures. First they rushed through the entire thing. My sisters nails were not fully painted and they left the nail polish she had on previously on. On her feet they layered the paint on so much it was goopy and thick. With my nails the lady actually painted it so sheer you were able to see how uneven it was. I do not recommend this place at all. Don't come here if you actually want your nails to look nice. Horrible job. Came in to relax and instead left more stressed than before. I had to get one acrylic nail fixed that I had originally gotten done elsewhere. The women did a lazy, sloppy job. Didn't even bother to ensure that the nails looked similar. In addition to that, I also got a pedicure. She did a sloppy, rushed job. The flip flops she gave me to let my toes dry kept touching my big toes and instead of redoing them, she kept piling on more layers of nail polish. I've had a few pedicures done over the last few years. I've been pretty happy with the quality and cleanliness, but I have always thought it was on the pricey side. Today, the staff overcharged me for waxing, in top of giving me a more expensive pedicure than I asked for. So what should have been a $32 pedicure and wax cost $42 instead. It was the last straw. I won't be back and I recommend everyone who does go to check their bill very carefully before paying.On a separate note, the staff asked me to give cash for the tip because they said the owner takes 70 percent of the tips paid via credit card. This is my go to spot in Reston. #1 it's walking distance from my house. #2 you can't beat their prices for the service. I've been several times since living here and have always had great service. They take walk-ins and are usually very speedy. The lady that does eyebrow waxes is awesome, I have really sensitive skin and when she does them it doesn't look like I'm leaving with a bad sunburn! I've seen some reviews about the cleanliness and I have never experienced this at this establishment. This place is called Elysium - not Hunter Woods Nail & Spa. I went this past week because it is within walking distance of my house + the reviews were mixed. I got the impression that this place is often over looked!I went for a mani/pedi ($45) with regular nail polish - no gel. The service was fantastic. They use the paraffin wax which was a nice surprise! I used to live in DC and did not receive that treatment at that price.This is going to be my go to spot. I guess I cannot say that I am an expert when it comes to nail salons, but I saw a lot of negative reviews here and felt like I had to share my good experience. It's my birthday, so my friend and I went to get our first mani pedis. We were greeted in a friendly manner, and started our appointment exactly on time. I felt like the ladies were very professional in our treatment. I was very happy with the whole process as well as the end result. My feet have never looked so good! Place was clean, prices seemed good to me based off places I have researched on the internet, $45 for each mani pedi and my friend got his eyebrows waxed for $10. Will definitely come again. I think their name is now Elysium.  I wanted to like this place.  It was clean and their tools were pulled from pre packaged tools for each client.  I went in for a gel manicure.  It was rushed, I don't think he even worked my cuticles, and the painting was sloppy (made him clean it up).  At one point my nail split at the corner after being cut and he didn't even notice.  I felt bad because he was such a nice guy.  Other clients got offered drinks from the soda/water fridge, and well, my manicurist was speeding through things.  So it's not as great as some other places, but I'd be willing to go back for another try....maybe. Not a good experience here.  I was not a walk in, I had an appointment.  The tech who did my manicure was very unfriendly - she did not smile and introduce herself, nor did she even ask "how are you today", which is kind of basic customer service.   She made me feel as though I was not welcome.  I was not offered a beverage even though I saw they had a little fridge fully stocked with soda and water.   The "hand massage" lasted roughly 20 seconds.    On the plus side, she at least didn't cause my cuticles to bleed which has been a problem for me at other salons.  This appears to be one of those places where the techs congregate with each other and are not very attentive to customers.   Maybe if I'd had a different tech the experience would have been better. Love this place! When you walk in you just know your going to get a good service. They are very clean! They offer drinks which most places don't do and every person in their takes their time and does a job we'll done. I see Kandy every time I go and she does exactly what I want. I've been living in Reston for 3 years and i've been to this salon a few times. The last time I went in for just a pedicure and the Asian lady doing my pedicure convinced me to do a gel manicure as well. She asked why i wasn't doing a manicure so i told her I'm a stay at home Mom and doing a manicure isn't worth it to me because my nails usually get chipped up and look horrible... hence the convincing to get the gel because it will stay and yadda yadda. I said ok only because i actually hadn't given the gel a try since being at home with my son. Well.. first off the gel wouldn't apply properly which led to an extra 30mins of her taking off the polish and filing my nails TWICE!!! I had my reservations from then and was obviously annoyed so she added a free wax treatment. I wasted almost $100. Both the gel nails AND my regular pedicure chipped in 2 days!! I've gotten gel nails done before and it's lasted over a week, and pedicures sometimes more than a week. Needless to say i wasn't pleased.BUT, sigh... I guess i must be a sucker because after visiting the shopping center this past Saturday i decided to give them one more try. I got a male pedicurist this time, had headphones in the whole time and didn't seem to really care about what he was doing. He was watching the TV while doing my pedicure. After he was finished, i looked down and there was nail polish gooped up and stuck to my skin and you could see the polish wasn't applied properly to my big toe. Silly me thinking pointing this out to him he would re-polish my toe...INSTEAD he poured nail polish remover onto the FLOOR got a piece of paper towel dipped it in it and proceeded to wipe the corners of my nails with the paper and then dipped his finger in the remover on the floor and continued wiping my skin!! SO GROSS!! Then he just grabbed clear top coat and just covered my big tow with a few coats and said let it dry. I will be going elsewhere for my pedicures from now on thank you very much!!! The best mani pedi I've had in years!!! I went with a friend and we both got the spas pedicure for $52 and the shellac manicure for $32. I have never spent that much on these services but I felt like it was worth it. The pedicure massage was very good. I had Tina and she took her time. Granted they were not busy as it was the end of the day. They were very friendly and attentive. The refreshments are a nice touch. The shellac manicure looks perfect!! Tina is a perfectionist and had everything looking great. No smudges, no bad cuticleSpots and the Polish was perfect. It's rare that I leave a salon and not want to fix something when I get home. Hunters Woods Nails and Spa have a variety of services such as massages, manicures as well as waxing. Its been a while since I had a mani/pedi and since I had time to kill, I also did a shelac french manicure...AND I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH SHELAC!!!Its been almost a week now and even though I went river rafting two days after the mani, it has yet to crack or chip. YAY! To add cherry to the ice cream, the lady who did my nails also charged me the price of mani/pedi without tip. I don't know if she was being nice since she knew I was a student from out of town or that she really liked my company or that she wanted to get out of there because it was almost-near closing time but I AM REALLY HAPPY WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE! Although english is the second language for the majority of the ladies here, they are not shy and will converse with you as much as possible.This place, in my humble opinion, is very friendly, clean, and reliable. I just walked out of this nail salon. My friend and I had a 10am appointment, they sat us down and started the water at 10:25pm. A minute later the water started overflowing without me realizing it. Unfortunately for her, she didn't know I was Vietnamese and came back and said in Vietnamese that these girls turned the water back on and is flooding the place, which was not true. I held my tongue to see if they would say anything else. They called my girlfriend rude for taking the magazine from the seat and that's when we both got up and walked out. They tried stopping us but at that point, I didn't want to stay and hear them talk about us more. I left by letting them know that I understood everything they said and didn't appreciate what they said about us. Ladies, when they talk in a different language and giggle, it's true.
