The people at Uptown Nails are very nice and they are very good at doing pedicures and full sets. I will definitely be returning. One thing though is my French tip nails began to lift at the bottom and I didn’t do anything to cause this. I was visiting in Radford and this business was recommended by Brad's Barber Shop.  It's in one of the older buildings on Main Street, which has its challenges (remodel keeps running into old-building surprises) but was clean enough. Owner was very friendly.  She is open mostly by appointment, so call first. Wanted a pedicure to last for upcoming month in Europe and got a PERFECT one that lasted without a scratch, even tango dancing.  Also got a translucent pale manicure which lasted very well, but did grow out enough by 3 weeks that I had to put some clear polish over it.  Not fancy, but great work! I love Kelly and Ti. I refer everyone who wants to get a waxing or their nails done to them. They make you feel right at home, which I think is important for a small business like theirs. You might think it is a hole in the wall salon but they can fix whatever another salon has done to your nails. Plus their gel lasts longer and I know because I'm a bartender and I use my hands constantly. Also Kelly let's me know when my eyebrows look horrible or if I have a mustash :) On top of all of that, their prices are AMAZING. You can get a mani pedi for such a great deal. Worst nail experience ever. First off, the place is gross. I felt like I was in an abandoned spa...not a running nail salon. Secondly, I waited 15 minutes for them to soak off my gel...i know this typically only takes max 5 minutes. Thirdly, after I had already waited, the man who seemed like was the owner who was doing my nails...LEFT while my nails were soaking and came back another 15 minutes later. He didnt ask if I had this extra time or anything. He just said-ill be back. I ended up almost being late for class when I came in with at least 20 minutes to spare over the time of a normal mani. Lastly, the manicure was horrible. It took about 15-20 minutes which is very quick. Probably because he did not touch my cuticles or give me an actual manicure. He basically cut my nails, very quickly filed, and painted them. No real nail shaping. No massage. Terrible and LAZY. Worst manicure and experience ever. I went here earlier this week for a full set mani and pedi. The salon wasn't set up welcoming, it doesn't look nice. The lady didn't understand i wanted acrylics without the tips then proceeded to say i wanted gel. I told her husband what i wanted then they said i was changing my mind. Then he didn't even do my cuticles or anything. The acrylics were done poorly and the nail polish job was even worse. The pedicure was okay. Called in to make an appointment to get my manicure, the women asked if I could come right away. I wasn't really ready, but I went in anyway. When I got there the gentleman ask what I waned, I opt to get acrylic, being that my nails had broken and I wanted something more for my wedding anniversary celebration. He said he couldn't do it because he has another appointment and he wanted to "Take his time" to do a good job, rescheduledo for 2 pm that same day.  He proceeded to removed old polish. I asked him if he was going to clean my cuticles, he said no, not when I am getting acrylics. Funny it's been done before, I thought to myself. He proceeded to use the electric round file to clean my nails and I had to jerk  my hand away several times because it was burning and hurting really bad!!!!! It was close to pick-up my daughter from school, had to pick her up and go back so he could finish!!! 3 hours later my fingers nails are still hurting. The nails came out okay. This is a hidden gem in downtown Radford. No frills, this isn't a fancy day spa. But, my pedicure is quality and lasts a month, even thorough sandals and running shoes. Quick and courteous, they will try to work drop ins on busy days. However, I recommend making an appointment ahead of time. Their clients dedicated and long standing....for a reason.
