One of the best places in Norfolk. I went a few different places before finding lotus Day spa. When I walked in, Kelly was very welcoming. I felt right at home. The staff is very professional and friendly. There are so many options here for all the services that are offered. You will never hear anyone say that something can't be done. Special requests are their specialty! I often request nail art that is very unique and sometimes difficult, but the nail techs are always up for the challenge. My nail tech today, Jaeleen, was absolutely amazing! I showed her a picture from Google with a design I wanted and she nailed it! I loved it at first, gave it 5 stars, but that is because they are amazing to new customers. Unfortunately, they have a strange and offputting strategy of slowly becoming less appealing the more often you visit. Prices gradually become more expensive for the same services, quality becomes gradually more poor... despite tipping well... with cash. I finally had to stop going, they were up to $80 charge for my basic pedicure and basic manicure with gel top coat. Lotus was getting BRAND NEW pedicure chairs installed and I was the one of the first customers to use them. Owner was on hand personally showing the techs how to properly use them and all the awesome features that they have.Seeing the owner interact with her staff, the professionalism and genuine care she had while instructing them was wonderful. The massage feature is amazeballs! On par or dare I say better than high end chairs I've previously used. Water basin is super sanitary. They use disposal basin liners for each client and sanitize every thing after use. Quietest jets, you can barely hear the water bubbling but you can sure feel it.I got the hot stone pedicure and it was so very relaxing. Tension I didn't even know I had just melted away. While relaxing away staff offered me beverages and lovely chit chat. Paraffin wax to finish and I walked away with baby soft feet to get my nails done.It's has been ages since getting anything but a basic manicure so I've fallen behind on all new ways things are done.Dips with the color already in?!? Coffin shape?!? No hard dremel grinding?!?Even found a color that perfectly matched the heels I planned to wear to the Yelpies.My nails came out *almost* exactly how I imagined. Okay Lotus Spa, after looking at lot of reviews and peer comments I decided to try this place. The free wine included with yelp checkin itself was a disaster, they served wine in a dirty plastic wine glass ( yeah right). I did full set, pedicure and face wax. Full set was not done properly, the lady doesn't even know how to file nail. I requested the lady I like "square round shape" and she made it a mess. The pedicure lady didn't even do a good job in callus removing, she rubbed my feet for two seconds and that's it. Facewax was main the entertainment of the day. It took the person almost 30 minutes to finish my face wax. I am sure she haven't done anyone's face wax in ages.. luckily I am used to waxing and I have good pain toleration, otherwise it would have been a very very bad experience over already absolute disappointment. Ok, I waited a little longer and then eventually took the towels off, finally service...someone came over and said, sorry, blah blah blah, we will get you service and what could they do? I explained all I wanted at that point was my nails painted, forget the message. They said they could do that, at a discount. I wasn't paying for a deluxe pedi package, if all I got was a basic pedi and left to sit for much longer than I should have. Of course, I replied, I was not paying full price at this point! Then he indicated I would still have to wait for one of the other technicians to finish. I explained, I was unwilling to wait any longer and suddenly the person talking to me (I should say whispering, b/c he didn't want all of the other clients to know what was being said, I saw no need to whisper, - but they all knew what was going on). I asked to see the answer, if the people getting pedis had appts, I was sitting there for over 1/2 hr, saw and heard as each person came in and was asked if they had appts, so I knew the answer, but as expected, they lied and said the others all had appts. I was fed up and was preparing to leave. Suddenly, the person talking to me and previously unavailable was now immediately available to do my nails. Well, if wasn't available 5 seconds ago, he really wasn't that interested in really keeping my business. I had a headache, needed to eat and take my medications. Screw the discount, screw the paint job, screw any of my future business, and I got up walked out without paying. Not only did you loose my business, but my friends as well. I went here on 2/24 for a hot stone pedi and BOYYYY LEMME TELL YOU, it was amazing! :pI was searching for a new place to try and I specifically wanted to try this place out because of one thing: the Hot Stone Pedi. I lovesss me a hot stone massage so when I saw this, I was like SIGN ME UP.I made my appointment and after switching it a few times (got caught in traffic, etc, the usual stuff) they were very accommodating and I got there. First impression walking in was that it was clean. It was decorated for Valentines Day, which was cute and they had a Valentines Day promotion going on all through February, but I didn't get a good look at what it was. I didn't catch my nail technicians name, but I know he was also a massage therapist. He did a great job on my nails and the massage was VERY relaxing. Probably one of the better massages I've ever had. We talked a lot, which I like. My version of relaxing is meeting new people, interacting, and getting to know others, so it was nice to do that while I was getting the service.I noticed he didn't use a scraper; I don't think any of the techs did, but he scrubbed my calluses really well to smooth them down with the pumice stone, so my needs were still met. This is definitely my go-to from now on whenever I'm in the Norfolk area, solely off of customer service and overall satisfaction. First off, I would like to recommend to make an appointment. The receptionist was very understanding when we told her we would be 5 minutes late due to traffic but note that they do ask you call ahead if you will be late because if not, you will be considered a walk in and will be seen by the next available tech. Although my boyfriend and I only got the Lotus Elite pedicure (specifically for couples/friends since you are taken to a private area for two), it was BEYOND anything I've received at any salon ever and I get my feet done more often than not and we were both very pleased with our service. Everything listed on their website under our choice of service was what we received so there were no questions there. I would like to admit I am a horrible person because I never asked the names of our fabulous techs but I'm sure all of their entire staff is just as amazing as ours were. They were very easy to have a conversation with, funny and answered any questions we had, both about our pedicures and just every day life. Well we got there and there was only one person available so I had to sit with my feet in cold water while my husband got his pedicure and 45 minutes later a lady finally came in to do mine. The gentleman who did my pedicure didn't just rub the lotion in my legs, he actually massaged my calves and feet; it was amazing! Sigmarie was the technician who performed the dip manicure and she was so friendly, helpful, and professional. She gave me tips to help with my cracked cuticles from work. Anyways when we came back Jayleen and Jenna had the couples room ready for us to have an intimate couples pedicure. We chose the herbal rejuvenation pedicure, although they had many great option!We loved this pedicure, they put essential oils in the water which I have never seen at a spa- such a life hack! They also applied leg and feet masks, paraphen wax for the feet and wrapped our legs and feet in hot towels. After that was removed it was followed by a hot stone massage- they really went all it to make us feel good! Even though they were about to close they didn't rush or slack at all they took their time and made sure we enjoyed every moment! We will be back! Unfortunately this place has gone downhill... I used to come here last year and they were fantastic. Went today for a pedi and gel mani with a friend. Here turned out alright... My pedi was good, I'll give them that. But I was passed off between several techs for no reason with my mani and they all seemed preoccupied. I ended up having to have them file the edges after it was all said and done because they were jagged. And the polish looks terrible. It's clumpy and poorly applied, I could've done better. It's really sad because I have to spend an hour removing what I just paid $40 to have placed because it looks like a 3rd grader painted my nails. Save your money, go elsewhere. Read Less

So, this experience was a bit of a rollercoaster for me. Not really bad, but not totally good. The bad:  It started with me waiting 40 minutes for a spa package my husband arranged for me as a surprise Mothers Day gift. I seriously considered leaving, but everything was already paid for and I wasn't sure how that would work. Also, I had to walk from one room to another in a robe without a belt where everyone in the shop could see me. That was super uncomfortable.The good: Everyone was really nice and apologetic. Having a cup of wine helped as well. Finally, I went in for my massage with Stephan. He did a great job with determining and working on my problem areas, and I felt better afterwards. Next was my facial. I believe her name was Tao or something similar. She did an amazing job! I would love to come back here for another massage and facial one day. A younger girl did my Pedi. I could be wrong but she looked maybe 12 or 13. She really didn't say much, but was really nice and offered a second glass of wine. Another lady did my mani and did a good job. I had a great experience, made a same day appointment they were prompt at getting me seated. Did a good job at my pedicure. I also had a Brazilian wax and she did a great job! Very happy with my experience even though they don't ask or tell you about proper care for your wax. The room was a little dated and not the best set up but it worked :) I had bought a welcome package for my sister-in-law for Mother's Day. They scheduled her for 2:45 and rushed her massage and facial because they close at 5 on a Sunday. Her nails weren't done very well and the pedicure was messed up a few times and fixed. Today I went in to get a pedicure. I walked in and greeted everyone with a good morning and was taken a back when the technician responded nonchalantly. I was asked if I had an appointment. So I came in on a Wednesday afternoon, waited 30 minutes to get a pedicure. The guy who ended up doing it, wasn't doing anything else my entire wait but sitting in a chair watching other people work. He is currently working on my feet right now and has cut me twice -- to the point that I am bleeding. I take very good care of my feet, and have never experienced pain like this. He is using a cheap emery board that he has scraped across my toes, not the nail, the entire time he was filing. I am seriously thinking about having him just stop and never coming back here. I'm new to the area and had a hard time finding a place that does dipping powder for nails, I was excited to find this place but that's were it ends. I needed several services, which I get regularly and because I travel for work the prices vary but never to much. I wanted the dipping powder nails, gel pedi and waxing. The girl gave me an estimate and it was pretty much what I have paid at other places. I had an appointment 1st thing 9:30am and did not leave until 1:30pm! I ha...ve never had services take that long and I would have been there longer but I stopped her. I had 3 different people work on me. One person did my hands and painted my toes, another did the waxing and another did the pedi!! UGH! Just ridiculous. I unfortunately picked a gel color that needed a magnet to get the design but didn't know that until she started to do it. It was exhausting! After she did the 2 big toes I stopped her, it was taking way to long. I get to the register, I get the bill and it was $30-35 more then she quoted me!! WHAT? Overall had an fairly good experience. I went in for a pedi, shellac mani. My manicure was done by a 16 year old girl named Jenna. She did a wonderful job, she was very gentle and took her time. She made sure i liked what she was doing and she made sure it was perfect. She was amazing. On the other hand, i had and older gentleman doing my pedicure. When he was filing my toe nails down, he filed one so low it started to hurt as he kept going. Then when he was massaging the lotion and oil on my legs he was putting way to much pressure. I kept pulling my legs away and he'd just pull them back and keep going. He was way to rough & i had bruises when i got home. Not okay! Now onto the polish, i chose the most generic color, WHITE. You would think if the polish is running out he would go get another one. For about an half an hour, he kept polishing my big toe and taking it off. Because there was no polish on the brush, it would dry up and leave clumps. There were missing areas that hadn't even been touched with polished on multiple toe nails. I just arrived to Norfolk from overseas and was looking for decent spa to give me a full overhaul. This place has reached beyond my expectations. The Lotus Day Spa was one of the most professional, cleanest, and meticulous salons I have ever been to. The staff were indubitably accommodating and very friendly. The whole ambiance in the spa reeked of southern charm. I haven't never experienced such a funny and friendly staff. I had the honor of having Ms. Jayleen work on me. She most certainly takes pride in her work because she loves what she does. On top of having a stellar staff, they are authentically clean. They sterilize and sanitize ALL their equipment. Anyone who knows me, knows that am OCD when it comes to cleanliness and not once did I see anything that was off-putting. Whether you need to go the The Lotus Day Salon for your nails, wax, facial, massage, or etc... they aim to satisfy all their costumer's needs, especially Jayleen. She is genuinely meticulous and takes pride in her work. Aforementioned, she is a perfectionist because she knows this is her signature work. You are in good hands when you are with her. I had a great experience with Thao today! She was awesome and took her time taking off my acrylics. I've been to other places that rush and nearly rip off your natural nails trying to get the acrlyics off but never once did she hurt me. This place is relaxing and I'm so glad I decided to give it a shot. It is pricier than other nail salons, but you pretty much get what you pay for. To get my acrylics off and have a basic manicure it came to $35. I took off a star because their brochure says that to remove acrylic with an additional service it is $10 extra and without an additional service its $15. They charged me $15 even though I got a manicure too. When I asked about it she said you had to get the exact same service to get it for $10 ( which in my case would have been another full set?) which I've never heard of in my life at any other nail salon. Overall it was a pleasant experience.My friend is a regular and made an appointment for us to get our nails done. I should have told her that I REALLY needed a mani/pedi lol. I didn't realize that they were less inclined to do walk-ins or non-appointments.I really like how they take your time and pamper your every needs-including providing you with an alcoholic beverage. Our appointment for a pedicure only was at 11:30 and we didn't leave until 2ish.. The gal that did my nails did a nice job, but Stephan (who did my friends nails) did an amazing job!! I am always going to try for him every time My only critique was that they did not carry non-sweet wine. I think every place that serves wine should have a dry selection- whether white or red. This is my second time here and the absolute disappointments just keep coming.... The first time I here I made an appt for lash extension refill, a gel fill and pedicure....I was greeted and picked my color and offered a drink. (Good job) Well I get here and get started and the lady who was supposed to do my lashes had something wrong with her eyes (literally) so she had to cancel that part is my appt, mind you.....she is doing my nails while she's telling me there's something wrong with her eyes. She had to stop several times due to her eyes and it took well over an hour and half for a simple fill. I was so frustrated at this point, I opted out of getting my pedicure. Okay so it's my second time here now, wasn't greeted kindly AT ALL, in fact I felt like I was a burden walking in....terrible customer service. So I explain I would like to get a fill and pedicure. The entire first 5-10 mins here were awkward. I was waiting to be asked if I would like anything to drink and this time, I am told I have to go on Yelp and check in, lol okay no big deal.....didn't have to do it last time but okay. So the woman doing my pedicure stops and brings me out the smallest glass of wine I have ever gotten.
