Love the new ownership! We came for haircuts with Annie and loved it - me and my three girls. She made us look and feel like a million bucks. Annie has been cutting my hair for years now and she gets it right EVERY TIME. Sometimes we do something new, sometimes the same thing. But she knows what I need for whatever phase of life I'm in. Nouvelle has new owners and the BEST nail technician in NoVA. Mindy is a dip powder expert and my nails are always perfect. Many color choices and always lasts at least 3 weeks! I've been coming here for over a year as Michael does a great job cutting my hair and blow-outs. He's friendly, professional, and FAST! It takes about an hour to get a hair cut and I love the way he styles my hair, I'm ready to hit the town! He did a blow-out on my long, thick hair in under 45 minutes! It looked AMAZING! I made an appointment last minute on a Friday to get a full French nail set. I'm giving this place a 4/5 because of the language barrier between the nail techs and I prevented me from communicating with the young lady that did my nails.PRICE:The price was a bit steep but I must say the young lady took her time and my nails came out great. EXPERIENCE:Usually at other salons they insist on you getting  gel on your nails with the assumption that they will last longer but not at this salon. The young woman advised me that she made my nails thick enough to last and I didn't need the gel nail polish. It has been a week now and my nails still look good.COMPLAINT: The only thing I would complain about is the language barrier because my nail tech did not understand anything I asked her to do in English. Over priced for a simple guys hair cut and a shampoo. I had my hair cut three times and it has been inconsistent every time. Jenny was the one who cut my hair, she was good the first time once they pull you in they don't care after that. The last hair cut I got was a disaster, I thought about shaving my hair. Not sure what happened but it looked like jenny didn't feel like working because she was sleeping when I got there. I should have walked out when I saw that but didn't think she was going to butcher my hair. It seems like the majority of the hair salons are ran by none English speakers that don't know what you are saying, it doesn't matter how much you pay, you will get the same rubbish of a hair cut. I went from paying $16 a hair cut at hair cuttery to $35 at this abomination of a salon. If you have curly/wavy hair do your self a favour and find a place with people that speak English even if it is a school, they will do a better job. I love getting gel manicures here. Jade does my nails.  She's not only great at doing nails, she's a wonderful conversationalist and the time passes quickly. They last a long time and I leave looking great.  Michael also colors and cuts my hair.  I like the way it looks and feels after a cut. The color lasts and all is well.  People at this salon have great senses of humor and it is a fun place to be.  I highly recommend it. Read Less

My stylist was getting tired of my hair or at least that is how it was looking. I have short hair and am very particular about how my hair looks. I tried Michael and found a home. All you have to do is show Michael a picture of what you want and he can recreate it for you. I find his cut to be consistent and color quality to be excellent. I have many compliments now on my hair. Michel is easy to get into and his prices are extremely reasonable. My older sister introduced me to Michel and I in turn introduced him to our i younger sister who is now a satisfied customer as well. I would highly recommend the salon. Read Less

It was my 2nd time visiting this salon and I must say I will never recommend it or go back again. I went back a 2nd time because my friend loves one of the nail stylist, Hannah.The 1st time they cut all my cuticles off and I was in pain, leaving before I received a polish. This time though, was the most concerning. I left looking like a 5 year old gave me a manicure. I had jagged polish and the gold glitter ombré I wanted turned into some gold sparkles scattered on my nail. At that current moment the lady could not understand what I wanted because she could not understand any English. Then when another lady tried to interpret, she still had no clue!! Then someone else took over and didn't charge me the $5 sparkle charge. I should not have been charged at all for my gel manicure - leaving with polish all over my skin and it chipped in 4 days! I had a mani/pedi here that was horrible.  She cut my skin, wasn't able to apply polish to some fingers without messing up polish on other fingers by accident, and to top it off - I didn't even get a hand massage with my manicure.  The polish began to chip the next day.  To sum it up - worst manicure ever. Jenny, has cut & coloured my hair.  Her hair cuts are on point.  If you want layers,  she is your go to, she blends the layers very well.  Other places I have tried, layers are choppy & ladder like, horrible look as if I had done it myself.  Keep up the great job! Read Less

One day last January I felt like doing something drastically different with my hair. Chopping it off was out, since I had done that the previous year and regretted it for months. I decided to go for color, more specifically ombre/balayage since I had seen such pretty color combinations on other girls. This was my very first time getting my hair bleached, and I wasn't sure how drastic a look I wanted. Michael was wonderful and super accommodating. When he started to take the foil out, I began panicking at how blond the highlights came out. I wanted a more subtle look, and as soon as I told him, he got to work darkening those sections of my hair. The final result was still extreme for me, but I got many compliments and enjoyed the change. I've come to realize how much I actually love my natural dark color so I'm not sure if I'll color my hair again, but if I do, this is definitely the place I'll go! Read Less

This place is completely unsanitary. I got a pedicure and she pulled out tools from somewhere one by one and they were not together in a sanitized package that nail techs usually open in front of you. After she drained the water she also picked up the sponge, ran it one time over one side of the basin and she was done-gross! Also she tried to scrub me with a white pumice stone and half of it was yellow from people's dirty feet-I freaked out and screamed no!! It's soooo gross here!I asked for my nails short and she kept insisting that they won't look good. That is not necessary as they should do what you want. I think she was just lazy. Michael was great! I just moved to the McLean area and the Nouvelle Salon & Spa is right across the street from my apartment. I was looking for a change (I ended up getting 6 inches cut off) and decided to try this place out-by getting an appointment with Michael-after seeing good reviews for him. After some arranging on their end, they were able to get my in for an appointment the same day and Michael even stayed a little longer to be able to complete the cut and blow-dry (they close at 8 but I was there until about 8:30). He was fun to talk to and you could tell he has a passion for what he does. He took my suggestion of what I wanted, but also gave his own suggestions based on my face shape and what is popular now. Decided last minute on a Friday afternoon after scrolling through pinterest that I wanted balayage highlights. MY hair is mousy brown, but i had all over blonde highlights and i was feeling really washed out. I called and they said they were booked for the aternoon, but ended up calling back about a minute later with an opening in 30 minutes. I made my way to the salon. Nice salon with mostly nail stations. Lots of people getting manicures. The place itself is very large. I was taken over for a consultation - $150 to darken my base and add balayage highlights. It will only be 95 to upkeep going forward. She did a wonderful job (not sure of her name - sorry!) I am so happy with my hair and feel like it has been refreshed. I would go back for touchups. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T TRUST THIS SALON!!! I had them do my hair for my wedding after reading decent reviews. I found them after searching yelp bc I'm not from around there. I asked if I should come earlier than 2hrs before I needed to be ready for my event, she said no, so I went in at 5. The girl ran 30min late before taking me back and they did not offer water/pop/tea/coffee/wine. I showed her two hair styles and she said she could do anything, so I picked one. I told her that my hair will not curl without hair spray beforehand bc it is silky. She did not listen to me. She had to re-curl strands several times-still didn't stay. She goes to show me what she did and it looked NOTHING like the style I showed her! And it looked so bad!!! I said ok, (seemed like she couldn't do anything special), just give me lift and volume and curl my hair. After working for another 30min, it looked terrible again!!! So she takes all the pins out and says, "you need to go bc I cannot do anything for you, but you pay me half for my time." THE GALL of her to demand payment for doing nothing but ruining my hair and wasting my time!!!! I left at 730, already late for my wedding, hair/makeup not done, and in tears!! I really enjoyed my spa pedicure at Nouvelle, and their prices are reasonable too.  I had some free time on a Sunday, and I called a couple of places in the area, but they were booked solid and not taking walk-ins.  I called Nouvelle, expecting the same thing, but they had appointments for pretty much any time the rest of the day, which was surprising.  I went in at 4pm, and I was the only person getting a pedicure when I arrived, though a few people came in after me.  For a place that isn't just a nail salon, I was really impressed by their facilities.  Everything was very clean and professional, and their massage chairs were probably the best of any nail salon I've been to.  They have a really good selection of OPI polishes as well as a few other brands, and my nails look fantastic.  I got the peppermint spa pedicure, and it was sooo refreshing and tingly. Everyone was super nice, from the manager to the nail technician, and nobody was overly pushy.  I'm taking off one star because my heels feel a little rough, but I'm definitely going back again and will probably give them an upgrade if next time is better. And FYI, you can't put the tip on your credit card here, so make sure you bring cash. Read Less

Don't be fooled by the nice decor and cleanliness - they are RUDE! I got a french manicure and the technician cut my nails so short and did not do a good job. My nails looked like something a 10 year old would do. When I complained the woman  - very snobby I think she may be the owner - came by and said "Oh it looks fine, you have to let the technician know next time if you want the french manicure to be curved. I have NEVER heard of this! The white line on my french nails were straight - not curved or cleaned up.They finally agreed to redo it but while it was being redone, EVERY single nail technician kept walking by and saying "I think she did a great job on your nails" "It loooks fine" etc...basically bullying me. After the nail technician finished redoing my nails she snobbily said "Are you happy now?" as if I am the one that made a mistake.Never going back again. This was one of the better massages I've had in the area, and the price was one of the lower prices for an hour-long session that I've seen.  The massage therapist did an excellent job; she hit just the right amount of pressure, and clearly was listening since she spent most of her time on the areas I mentioned at the beginning, rather than asking but ignoring my request.The spa itself is really nice inside; clean, spacious, and with really nice furniture and fixtures.  I don't live nearby so I don't know how new the place it, but it certainly felt new (or really well maintained).  The only thing I would like to see them change is the headrest on the massage table; if it had a soft covering over the padding, I would have absolutely fallen asleep, which for me is the ultimate compliment for a massage! I had a Groupon and this was my first time ever coming to this salon.  I got the jelly pedicure which felt so weird but amazing at the same time.  The salon is much larger than it appears from the outside and it's very clean and organized inside. The jelly pedicure felt amazing on my feet and the massage and lotions they added to my feet and legs smelled delicious and were pure bliss.  The service was great, got green tea during the pedi and ate a granola bar while my nails dried.I would definitely come back here for a mani/pedi for $42.  My toes look flawless and I can't wait to go back.
