I was really optimistic about trying this place out, but I was really disappointed by the . My technician was nice and I didn't have to wait for very long to get my nails done, but she did a terrible job. I got a polish change on my fingers (gel) and toes (regular) and it's super sloppy. She got polish all over my nail bed or left gaps, there are bubbles in the polish on multiple nails, and the gel coverage is inconsistent. I'm not sure what everyone else was raving about. I came here during my lunch break, and off a recommendation from my coworker who goes here regularly. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the tech who did my nails - just that her station was the first one all the way to the left, closest to the wall, when you entered. I wanted to see the person my coworker goes to, because her nails always come out nice (she also gets a full set), but he was already booked. I requested a regular French manicure, regular polish. She was pushy about getting shellac, even after I told her I was on my lunch and didn't have that much time to commit to a gel manicure. My manicure didn't even last a day. Everything was peeling off or chipping very easily. I didn't want to bother coming back because I felt the whole experience was lackluster from the beginning. The level of service has changed. My last visit back in February, I waited almost half hour after my appointment time to be serviced. In addition the tech was going so quickly because she had another appointment I assume, that my eyebrows got over waxed and three of my cuticles were bleeding even after the polish due to the rough pushing and over cutting as well. People there was nice. But why do they name this place as if there r any Japanese elements?I don't think anybody there speak Japanese and also never worked or trained in Japan for nail technic. I thoroughly enjoy Tokyo Nail. I choose to always make an appointment but if I do walk-in I'm helped with just a little wait. I choose Cam to do my nails and as the owner he is always in demand so I always make an appointment. I think everyone who works there are always helpful and friendly and very knowledgeable. The recent store update with new spa chairs for pedicures are so comfortable and relaxing. Just a friendly environment that makes you feel pampered. I recommend anyone to try either location. My best friend and I have been looking for a great (not just good!) nail salon in Manassas and I think we've found it! The place is very lovely, organized and clean. They make a point of stating that their equipment is 100% sanitized in their brochure and you can see that it is true. The nail techs are extremely nice. Kim was friendly and attentive. I used to love coming to this place because they remember you, make conversation, and are overall really laid back and relaxing.  Not anymore.  First, the most realible person there, Rita, left for another salon.  I walked in about two weekends ago for an acrylic set, with a friend hoping for a pedicure.  The salon was nearly empty with 2-3 people getting pedicures and one woman finishing up her manicure.  If you've ever been here, based on the set up there is room for at least a dozen nail techs in addition to the spa chairs for pedicure in the back, and yet there was hardly anyone there. I was told to wait but not for how long.  And after already going to my first choice salon and it being unusually busy, we figured it could not be that long given how empty it was here.  We were so wrong.  Some 30 minutes later someone finally takes me for my acrylics, but no one comes to claim my friend for her pedicure.  He rushed through my manicure (didnt even clean up the cuticles and just got right to business so they grew out weird, sliced me a bit on one finger, and seemed to skip some important steps to preserve the integrity of the outcome) and by the time he was done some 45 min later (after the already 30 min wait for the 45 min service), he finally tells my friend "oh sorry now we can take you for a pedicure."  Really?  We said no, it was ridiculous to spend any more time there.  I give him props for attempting a basic design on my nail, but it came out horribly.  They only do flowery or outdated designs and are not up to date with whats popular (which would help them make money) so a basic Chevron looked like someone took a sharpie to my fingernail and blindly drew some lines on it.  I was too frustrated with all of the waiting and was so ready to go, that I just said it was fine and left.  I knew I would come off rude and did not want to, but it was quite bad.  I took a picture, if you want to see.Its as if they just dont care anymore.  They dont communicate with you or greet you when you walk in.  You stand there awkwardly waiting to be acknowledged, and then they are unclear how long they want you to sit there and wait.  I was really disappointed since this place used to be my favorite, but I have moved on. Terry for a spa pedicure .... Only two words A Mazing!!! The place is clean the staff is friendly and there are more colors to choose that I have ever seen in another salon. Made an appointment for  reflexology and a pedicure over a week ago and the we show up for our appointment and they inform us that the lady who does reflexology went to ny yesterday.  No phone to let us know.  I  am livid.  Worst service I have ever seen before.  Don't waste your money at this place and if you do expect piss poor service. I went into Tokyo Nail after reading all the wonderful reviews on Yelp.  I've been having a hard time finding a place where they do nails, speak English and that is clean.As soon as I walked in I felt I was in good hands.  I was greated immediately by the person who sits on the chair upfront.  He told me to sit down and someone would be right with me.  I waited about 5 minutes and was approached by Terry, who took my purse and brought a drink for me and guided me to these comfortable, massage chairs.  It was one of the best pedicures I have ever had.  He was pleasant, took his time and gave me a wonderful leg massage.  I usually prefer women doing my pedicures, but Terry was super friendly,  professional and made me feel very relaxed.   I was on my lunch break but plan to go back tomorrow to get a manicure with him.  If you're looking for outstanding, relaxing and professional experience give Tokyo Nails a try.  You won't regret it! I went for a walk-in manicure and didn't wait too long on a Tuesday, which is when they are open for appointments.The service was good, like another reviewer says, there is no rinse, just the hand cream and the mittens which are then dried. My manicure was not rushed, and the attendant reviewed her work carefully, she was talkative and nice.The interior is ample, seating is comfortable, there are two low volume TV's and background music, general area was clean and the stations were organized, I liked the Asian themed decoration and floral arrangements, also plenty of magazines to check while you wait.Prices are reasonable, there is varied service list and the location can be convenient if you are going to Manassas old town or using 234. The location is kind of slum. The salon is not bad. I called after I saw decent reviews and asked for an appt with someone who could use the razor on my callouses and scheduled a mani/pedi. Got there & right away was addressed and told to pick a color and then asked by someone walking by if I wanted to see someone in particular. I stated the above. I like that the pedi area is in the back. The chairs are kind of typical- just ok with one setting. She was very timid to use the razor and about scrubbed me to death afterwards with the purple pumice stone. Also, I always wear my own thong sandals to any salon. She ran the tissue through my toes- I kind of think that is cheesy- and before she started with color I asked her if she wanted me to put on my sandals- she said no. Well, she should have listened to me bc at least three of the toenails were messed up when she put my shoes on. On to the mani. This is the second shop  I have been to in the past month that uses no water soak. I think that's weird. They do the lotion with the heated mitts but they're on for such a short time and awkward. SHe was good at squaring the nails, but when I left I noticed she didn't even really touch my cuticles. Also, the chairs were much too large and deep for the stations; I had to sit forward the entire time.The only positive was the price. My person was Mai. First off - when two friends walk in to get pedicures together.. they shouldn't get heir nails done at different times and have to sit across the room from eachother..... Just saying..The chairs are so old and nasty.. the foam where you put your feet is damaged so bad and falling apart it is gross. the chairs are dirty and dingy and aren't even "massage" chairs...There aren't enough pedicure chairs and they don't offer any libations while you get your nails done..  Not a fan of this place with the out dated equipment and a pumice stone that looks used since 1999... Not worth it. My mom and I tried to go about three weeks ago, on a Friday. We were walk-ins. The gentleman up front told us to sign in, and that there were only a couple of people ahead of us. Understandable, since we didn't have an appointment. We waited, along with another girl who had an appointment at 4 (we were all there a little before 4). They finally called her around 4:30 for her manicure. While we were waiting for our pedicures, I noticed that a couple of the seats were empty. Figuring it was just 1 person doing pedicures, we continued to wait. At some point, we were asked if we picked our colors. (we brought our own so we could do touch-ups later). Waited...and waited...around 5, another group comes in. They IMMEDIATELY get the empty seats, without even waiting for more than a few seconds. I'm sure they had appointments, but STILL! No one said ANYTHING to us, (pretty much the whole time). We were waiting for well over an hour! We got up and left, furious. The 'icing on the cake' was when I e-mailed them right away, informing them that if they were that busy, they should have said something to begin with; we would have understood, instead of ignoring us like that. No reply. No apology, nothing. It's been 3 weeks now. To be honest, the whole atmosphere felt cliquish, lots of regular customers and other walk-ins. I guess we weren't good enough? :( Read Less

Honestly, had I not seen the Yelp reviews for this salon (thank you!), I would have never looked twice or thought about going inside. I have seen this place driving to the salon I used to frequent by Target but never thought about going there since it's in a little strip mall next to a gun store & gas station. Don't let the surrounding area sway you from stopping here! The inside is beautiful and DEFINITELY worth making a stop. Marble flooring, nice pedicure chairs. It's nice -- and has a cute little beachy, palm tree theme. I had no trouble walking in on a Friday at 4PM w/o an appointment and getting seated right away and neither did a girlfriend who met me up 10 minutes later, despite the place being pretty packed. She got a pedicure and loved it. She said the guy massaged her legs very well and took his time making sure her pedicure was perfect. Not a spec of nail polish on her cuticle or anything. I didn't catch his name but she said she would def come back because he was very attentive. I was sat with a very sweet girl named Muy. I asked for a shellac manicure (if you haven't gotten one, DO IT. it's so low maintenance, dries instantly and last for 2+ weeks for $30--awesome) and it was AMAZING. I had gotten a shellac french mani 2.5 wks prior for my wedding and needed to remove it and it didn't take much time at all before Muy could start on my shellac mani. She did a great job in making sure all the details were taken care of; cuticles cut, perfectly buffed & shaped my nails. She took her time and didn't rush, which I appreciated because the salon quickly became more packed with people getting dolled up for the weekend. Again, Muy was super sweet and by the time I left, I felt like I had made a new homegirl, rather than just getting my nails done by some random. I'll post a picture of my nails -- I'm really happy with them. I picked the color #35, which is a coral-y pink color. I've rec'd a ton of compliments in the 6 days since it's been done. BTW, mine and my friends nails were inspected thoroughly by our friend who's an extremely picky nail tech that's damn good at what she does (hi, MT) and she said they did a great job -- so if I have her seal of approval, I know this place is a winner.The staff is extremely friendly and the salon is really clean. If you can make it out to Tokyo, I'd def rec commend it! I've been to 3-5 different nail salons in the Manassas/Bristow area and really, really love this place. Finally, a place I can come to get dolled up at without getting ridiculed by the nail techs (one time I was told straight up by the nail tech working on me, "They talking about you." Lol, oh word? "Oh, you no worry. It nuting bad." haha, sure it's not. At another salon, "Why are you engage? You look like you in high skew." Same woman, "I know you Asian but why your eyes so small?").  Coming back on Saturday to see Muy for a pedicure and I am actually looking forward to it, rather than it being just another errand to run.
