I had the most welcoming and heavenly SPA pedicure today due the Bao. For starters, she offered a cold beverage with a smile and throughout the heavenly experience, she explained step-by-step including translating... different makings of sticky rice. The gel manicure I got was messy and careless. I had to go back in to get it fixed because the edges were ragged. Another worker had to come over and fix my nails. Underneath my nail were never cleaned after they were filed either. I don't recommend going here. Read Less

I went for the spa pedicure which was very nice, but similar to other salons.  However, I saw the sign for the full one hour deep clean facial for $70.  I scheduled it for the next day.  Oh my stars... it was fantastic!  So relaxing.  My skin feels so smooth.  I will be back if I travel up here again. The. Best. Ever! Seriously! I have never been so relaxed getting my nails done! I got a regular pedicure and it was 100% better than any "spa" pedicure I've received. I actually fell asleep! I also got gel manicure which seems to be better than any other time at a different salon. Sally, my nail technician, put on multiple layers of color... not just two and done. Got a mani and pedi from Jenny today! I made an appointment in the morning and was seated right away when I arrived (some places you still have to wait even with an appointment...). They have a huge selection of nail polishes and gels to choose from and also offer water, tea, and soda. My pedicure was refreshing and I LOVED the massage chair I got to sit in the whole time. I even got a wax treatment on my hands at the end! Jenny was very sweet and made conversation with me throughout my appointment. A pedicure and gel manicure total only cost $55! I just recently tried Cici at Worldgate Nails an she did an amazing job! Recently my usual tech was out for a week and I desperately needed to get my nails done so I decided to try them out since some of my co-workers referred me. Came here for regular manicure and pedicure. I have been trying out so many places and I have still not found the best place where they actually put a lot of effort and time into cleaning your nails. This wasn't too bad neither was it great. Maybe I'll try another person next time, because it seemed to be really busy with a great inflow of people. Overall, the place was quite good, but I felt my manicure and pedicure was super quick for some reason. In the regular manicure too, she put the paraffin wax which was a plus point. I went here yesterday to get a pedi and full set before my trip to Vegas. I made an appointment with Michelle because of all her glowing reviews on Yelp and she did not disappoint! She did an excellent pedi and really took her time to make sure that my nails were perfect. She kept asking me if everything was okay and if I had any problems and I really appreciated it. I requested coffin shape acrylics and she did an incredible job. Michelle is excellent and I'll continue to see her in the future. Read Less

I went in for an acrylic fill and was seen by Amy. She told me my nails were old and needed to be replaced. It took a few minutes of discussion where she told me I needed it, then offered to just replace some for $5 off- it was confusing. The nail removal was pretty painful. She kept making comments about how easily they were coming off-which was true for about 2-but it took multiple tools and pain to get the rest off. The cuticle trimmer also did not come out of a sterile bag and was placed back in the drawer after being used on me. I was offered water part way through which was nice. In the end the remnants of my old polish are still on and are visible which doesn't make me happy. I was charged $28, the price for a full set because she took the old nails off- I wasn't expecting that but whatever!It wasn't the worst service I've received, but I prefer my usual place- Expose in sterling. Cici is the best nail tech I've ever had. I'm new to the area and very particular about my nails. I have natural nails and either do a gel polish manicure or have gel put on top of my natural nail to make it stronger. Unfortunately I think I have my father's hands so my nail beds are a little bit wider and not long and delicate. Cici does a phenomenal job with my nails every time.  I've gone in there with broken nails, uneven nails and everytime I walk out with a beautiful manicure.Even when I leave town I'll forgo getting my nails done in whatever state I'm in and just hold off until I can see Cici again.  Its more like an art form for her, she's that good. I have lived in northern Virginia for almost my whole life, and when I began getting gel manicures, I had a really hard time finding a salon that had market prices and was consistently good. This place has all of it!I made an appointment the first time I went, and I was sat immediately and given Kim, a great tech, but I didn't feel that making an appointment was necessary as others coming in were also sat quickly. I also got an eyebrow wax by Kim that was SUPER fast and well-done. My second time, I didn't make an appointment and when I got there, it wasn't super busy so I was sat immediately then as well. My tech was different, but she still did an amazing job. My standards are not SUPER high since I know gel manicures can be difficult, but the service I get here is really good and my manicure really lasts the full two weeks and still isn't really peeling. The salon also offers you a drink while you wait, if you have to wait at all. And the paraffin wax treatment doesn't hurt either :) Compared to other salons in the area, I highly recommend Worldgate for both service and talent! Read Less

I tried multiple salons. I found that $60 is about the average for shellac manicure/ regular pedicure combination. Here it it always around that price depending on french manicure or pedicure style added.I ultimately chose this salon because the pedicure quality lasted 2 weeks and if I ever chipped in between that time period I was able to have it fixed with no charge. When a shellac manicure would chip (rare but I am an athlete so it happens) they would fix one nail for free two or more for about 3$ (and they'd always allow me to add that onto my mani pedi when I came back)They are always very busy, I suggest calling ahead and being prepared for a two hour mani pedi time range. They offer free sodas, tea, or bottled water. The bathrooms are clean, the instruments are always out of a fresh package, and the plastic flip flops are yours free of charge. There's no ATM here and they do prefer cash tips. *NO AMEX ACCEPTED*The staff knew my name after about 4 visits and I have favorites but I will go to anyone when I need to! This place gets a 4 stars for layout and quality work/services, as well as accommodating large parties.  They get 1-2 stars for constantly trying to upcharge and pretend like they heard their client wrong.  Came here for a group appointment and I watched them with 3 different customers ignore their request for a normal basic no frills manicure and use gel and/or give them the spa treatment after the customer repeatedly said no, just basic...what's worse is that they were told more than once.  They will sit there and argue with customers if they don't go for the premium service...not just for a few quick exchanges, they'll delay starting your service for several minutes and attempt to change your mind...it was really off-putting.  Don't offer cheaper services or up your prices, haggling should not be part of a salon experience, and "no" should mean "no"... at least after the 3rd time it's been said.That being said, they DO have great spa mani/pedi options, and I would get them every time.  The paraffin wax coating seems frivolous and I'm not sure it actually "does" anything for your skin, but it feels great haha. This is one of the best nail salons for the value in the DMV area. I work in D.C. but live in Herndon and after plenty of horrible experiences (which were expensive) in D.C. I figured I would try this salon as it was cheap and would PROBABLY do a decent job. I requested CiCi (based off the Yelp reviews) and got Annie. There was modern family on TV so I didn't mind that she wasn't very talkative. Also she was incredibly precise with her work so I didn't expect her to talk as well. When I asked for an extra cost she was very nice and did it.24 days later (more than 3 weeks!) I went in for a fill. The polish was still beautiful and bright white, no chips and my nails hadn't popped off but my nails were grown out. I am absolutely so pleased with this salon and with Annie's work. I went to this salon from reading reviews on Yelp and I was NOT disappointed one bit. I made a 515 appointment with Cici and she was phenomenal! The shop was clean, the space was a good size for a nail salon, I watched all of the utensils come out of sanitary packaging and all of the employees were super pleasant and friendly from the time I walked in. Oh yes, and I'm so in love with my nails. Being that I type all day, I'm very specific about my nails and how I like them. Some may even call me a perfectionist. Cici did phenomenally! I really wanted to like this place since I live so close. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience and don't think I will be returning.I called ahead on Friday and made an appointment for a pedicure. I had plans later in the evening, and was hoping to have time after my pedicure to get my hair done. I arrived on time, and said I had an appointment, but still had to wait for OVER an hour before they started my pedicure. That's alright, I though - I just wish they would have told me, I would have gotten my hair done first. I love to workout and my legs were sore from running. I was really looking forward to the massage chairs and a little mini foot massage. The massage chair was broken, and the nail technician did an extremely rushed job and there was no massage. But that was ok, I though, they are busy, it's alright.After the nail technician cut my nails and filed them (this took maybe 3 minutes) they decided to move me out of the massage chair before even paining my nails with a french pedicure. After waiting for a whole hour, I was dismayed that I was only able to be in the (broken) massage chair for two minutes. They moved me over to a manicure station to finish painting my toe nails, and another customer took my spot in the pedicure chair I was in. The male manager was the one who decided to have me move. The woman nail technician who was painting my nails seemed rather frustrated by it. I was sad and confused. Other customers were getting their toe nails painted while sitting in the pedicure chairs. But that was alright, I though... it was alright... my hair was a bit messy since I had planned on getting it done after my pedicure, so maybe they though I was a less "classy" customer? Not that that's any excuse for bad service, but I was trying to somehow make sense of it. Why was I getting such second-rate treatment while it seemed others were getting nice pedicures? I thought, next time I'll do my hair first. It's fine.The woman nail technician disappeared into the back of the salon. I sat at the manicure station for a good 15 minutes waiting for her to come back. I had been at the salon for almost a good two hours at this point, and was running very late for the evening I had planned. I was getting anxious. But it's fine I though, it's fine...Then, this is what simply put me over the edge. Cleanliness is very important to me. My nail technician returns, and proceeds to empty the trash bin at the front of the salon. Then, she doesn't wash her hands, and carries the trash bin over to the manicure seat I am sitting in. "How unsanitary" I think. she then FLIPS THE TRASH CAN OVER AND PROCEEDS TO TELL ME TO PUT MY FEET ON IT SO SHE CAN PAINT THEM. She then returns to the back of the salon, gone again.At that point, several other customers could tell how upset I was getting. One looked at me and said "I would leave. You had an appointment and everything. The way they are treating you just isn't right."I'm the type of person who sometimes showers twice a day and is very careful about keeping things clean and sanitary. I just couldn't bring myself to put my feet on a dirty trash can to have them painted for a pedicure.I got up, and said sadly, "I just don't think I can do it. I'm going to have to leave. I'm sorry." I left without getting my toes painted.I thought that was preferable to getting them painted on top of a dirty flipped over trash can by a woman whose hands had not been washed after emptying the trash from that same trash can right in front of me.
