Yikes!!! I should have read these reviews first..maybe I just went to the wrong person... I used to go to Maxx Nails a long time ago but I was told the person I use to make appts with is no longer there. I was excited to hear they have dip powder as I've heard it is quicker and dries like shellac. When I asked about getting a shellac manicure the tech who greeted me told me about dip powder and suggested it to me. I've been getting my nails done for years and I know what to expect. When I sat down there was no "prep"... there was no cute little water bowl with pebbles on the bottom and the tech did nothing to remedy the dirt that had accumulated under my nails. I know, gross!! But I had just finished an apartment move where I had to scrub everything. Hence the point of the manicure. She just started painting and dipping. I was offered a confused sweet smile, wine and water when I asked about this process... how interesting... The powder is almost clear... you don't really have an idea what color it is until the end.... unless it's a more prominent color. Towards the end, I looked down and noticed as she was putting on the top coat that this wasn't the color I had chosen... it was in fact the color she insisted was pretty in the beginning. Great. At this point, I absolutely should have said something but I had made up in my mind I wasn't coming back and secretly scheduled a rescue appointment with another tech in VA Beach next week. *shrugs* I hate when you tell a tech what you want, they tell you okay and then proceed to do their own thing. When I got in my car and looked at my crusty stubby round uneven baby pink sparkly nails knowing that I requested short square nude nails.... I knew that Maxx nails would never get my business again. Mui (My), wherever you are, please come back. The ONLY reason I gave it 2 stars was because I think the shop is clean and the environment is relaxing.

I used to love this place because of their precise work and the environment. The last two times I have come and gotten my nails done or eyebrows waxed I have been less than satisfied. I feel that they are just going through the motions just trying to get a buck instead of doing good work. I got my eyebrows done the other day and they are uneven and when I checked in the mirror there were tons of "stragglers " and I ended up having to re do my brows at home. Why pay the money when I end up having to do it myself at home? Defeats the purpose. They lost my business.

I've been looking for a new nail salon closer to where I live and a friend recommended Maxx Nails. I decided to treat myself today and go for the "deluxe" pedicure (aka the pricier one). I walked in and was seated immediately which was nice. Throughout the pedicure my nail tech paused to check her phone. She would text with her gloves on, put her phone away, and then continue working on me. I thought that was super unprofessional, not to mention unhygienic. The massage was lackluster- she barely spent any time on my actual feet at all (my favorite part), just my legs. So much for deluxe? She asked if I wanted a wax treatment on my feet for 10 extra dollars which I agreed to, desperate for some sort of relaxation at this point. She placed my left foot in a scalding bag of wax- I asked her to remove it because it was too hot, and she proceeded to spray cold water on the bag which didn't help. I ended up jerking my foot out of the bag which was bright pink from the heat. She goes to put the other bag on my right foot to which I responded "no thanks, I'm good". She didn't charge me the extra 10 dollars which was good because I would not have paid it. I will not be returning.

Was very excited to try a nail salon with champagne as a nice treat for me and my bridal party as a nice treat before my wedding.We all got our nails done and pedicures there. I have been to several salons, I have never had such a stressful experience. They kept trying to "upcharge" us for different nail features which seem to usually be included with other typical nail/pedicure treatments. Our appointment was scheduled for 6:30 pm, they usually close at 7:00 pm and it seemed like they were really frustrated with us by the time our group was done because it was past their closing time. The champagne did taste good and we were impressed with their wine bar, but the service was disappointing.

This was a terrible experience. From the beginning, it felt like my technician was angry because I chose shellac rather than the dipping powder. She used the course side of an emery board to remove most of my old shellac with very little time with foil. She was rough with the scraping tool and after two days, my nail beds are still sore. My toenails were painted, and polish was globed into the corners and somehow transferred onto my flipflop. Everyone around me was drinking wine, but I was never offered any. My overall impression of the salon was that it is dirty. I will NOT be back.

First visit for me at Maxx's and I brought my fiancee for his very first pedi and boy was I disappointed. I splurged and chose the more expensive of 2 options, the so called 'spa pedi' for both of us. Yes we received a hot stone massage and a mini scrub that included in a standard pedi but that was the fastest, most rushed pedi I've ever had and considering it was a 'spa package'. The table I was supposed to sit my wine on was filthy and my fiancee didn't have wine but received a mini bottle of water, really! I asked if he would receive an extra massage/attention since he wasn't having his toes polished and I received a nod and indication he would but to no avail we walked away frustrated and disappointed. Considering the price & lack of service I probably shouldn't have tipped but my conscience woudn't let me for go it so I left $100 in the hole, a fiancee who didn't really know the difference and no chance of me returning or referring Maxx's. Thanks to the friend who referred them but I have a much better referral if you need it ... Escape in Short Pump!

I'm sad that I have to give such a low rating. I used to love this place! I would drive here from chesterfield for my manicures. The past few visits have been absolutely terrible. They have changed the service that I asked for to something more expensive after I have already confirmed the price. And after my visit today, my nails look terrible. I kept having to ask my technician to shape my nails a certain way and after reshaping 3 times I gave up. The polish is sloppy and the acrylic is very thick. Unfortunately I will not be returning.

Definitely got more than I paid for! I'm so disappointed that I chose this salon yesterday to get a pedicure that I hadn't had in months. I brought my little girl with me to have a mommy/daughter outing, also. On a positive, the tech did a great job with my toes, however, she was sick and doing her best not to spread it to me. However, another tech walked around sneezing without covering her mouth. Just sneezed out in the air over and over. So, thanks for the cold I now have today and hopefully my little girl doesn't develop one, also. I had planned to get a manicure, but couldn't get out of there fast enough. Unfortunately, it wasn't fast enough.

I had a terrible experience at maxx nails & spa. I was recommended here by a friend because I heard they do powder without the drill. This wasn't the case at all. I had multiple people doing my nails at once switching off. Then when I told the man what I wanted he completely shrugged off what I said & gave me something else. He then told me to go wash my hands & was extremely impatient with me. I pay you to give me a good service. I work in a spa & service industry & would never think to treat a client the way I was treated. Never going back there & wont be recommending anyone there either.

I went back to talk to Mindy I asked for a redo at no charge She said Sorry we cant do that, Mindy kept saying the reason why they have fallen so fast is because everyone nails grows different I said no my nails dont grow this fast to make them to start to come off after 5 days..I showed her pictures of the other times when they did my nails and no Prob at all....she said if they was chipped or broken they redo....I should have gone outside and broke them off just so they would redo them LOL but since i did say something about that she said no , no, no, no, redo for you LOLso I will be calling the BBB on this place and NEVER will go back there. So just a heads up dont go here.

About a week or so ago I went to a nail salon and thought they were great! However, when I came to this place and met the owner of this salon I was sold. I love that this place has a good atmosphere, was not compacted, clean and organized. I loved that she took her time doing my nails. My nails came out PERFECT! I believe I have found my nail salon! Best mani and pedis around. I used to drive from Chesterfield to get my nails done. Later I moved to Fredericksburg and can't find a quality nail salon, so I'm still driving to come to Maxx Nails. I always get compliments on how natural my nails look and they last 3-4 weeks. The salon is quiet, no kids running around and no tvs. The massage pedi chairs are comfortable and very new. They provide quality service and the appropriate amount of time without rushing.

I'm sad that I have to give such a low rating. I used to love this place! I would drive here from chesterfield for my manicures. The past few visits have been absolutely terrible. They have changed the service that I asked for to something more expensive after I have already confirmed the price. And after my visit today, my nails look terrible. I kept having to ask my technician to shape my nails a certain way and after reshaping 3 times I gave up. The polish is sloppy and the acrylic is very thick. Unfortunately I will not be returning.

Definitely got more than I paid for! I'm so disappointed that I chose this salon yesterday to get a pedicure that I hadn't had in months. I brought my little girl with me to have a mommy/daughter outing, also. On a positive, the tech did a great job with my toes, however, she was sick and doing her best not to spread it to me. However, another tech walked around sneezing without covering her mouth. Just sneezed out in the air over and over. So, thanks for the cold I now have today and hopefully my little girl doesn't develop one, also. I had planned to get a manicure, but couldn't get out of there fast enough. Unfortunately, it wasn't fast enough.

I had a terrible experience at maxx nails & spa. I was recommended here by a friend because I heard they do powder without the drill. This wasn't the case at all. I had multiple people doing my nails at once switching off. Then when I told the man what I wanted he completely shrugged off what I said & gave me something else. He then told me to go wash my hands & was extremely impatient with me. I pay you to give me a good service. I work in a spa & service industry & would never think to treat a client the way I was treated. Never going back there & wont be recommending anyone there either.

I have been going to Maxx Nails for a while they have always done my Nails and never had a prob, Till NOW i went to get my nails done with the new Dip polish on 11-20-16 5 days later they start to fall they should not do this in this short amount of time... I went back to talk to Mindy I asked for a redo at no charge She said Sorry we cant do that, Mindy kept saying the reason why they have fallen so fast is because everyone nails grows different I said no my nails dont grow this fast to make them to start to come off after 5 days..I showed her pictures of the other times when they did my nails and no Prob at all....she said if they was chipped or broken they redo....I should have gone outside and broke them off just so they would redo them LOL but since i did say something about that she said no , no, no, no, redo for you LOLso I will be calling the BBB on this place and NEVER will go back there. So just a heads up dont go here.

About a week or so ago I went to a nail salon and thought they were great! However, when I came to this place and met the owner of this salon I was sold. I love that this place has a good atmosphere, was not compacted, clean and organized. I loved that she took her time doing my nails. My nails came out PERFECT! I believe I have found my nail salon! Btw, their prices are very reasonable.

Best mani and pedis around. I used to drive from Chesterfield to get my nails done. Later I moved to Fredericksburg and can't find a quality nail salon, so I'm still driving to come to Maxx Nails. I always get compliments on how natural my nails look and they last 3-4 weeks. The salon is quiet, no kids running around and no tvs. The massage pedi chairs are comfortable and very new. They provide quality service and the appropriate amount of time without rushing.
