The only reason I give it a 1 is because Ryan was so very pleasant with removing the catastrophic work of art that was on my nails. I went to this shop because I saw a picture of a foil nail design that I wanted. Tina did it in the picture but me being naive assumed all could. I’ll never make that mistake again. Now I am familiar with how this should look when done. The tech, Kim, looked at the picture and told me she do it after telling me it wasn’t foil and then speaking to the lady who obviously did the nails in the picture she went and got the foil pieces. After the gel polish was on- she did a nice job- she started putting the foil on and used big chunk pieces of foil sporadically through out the nail. I wanted gold foil and some of the back of the foil (which is silver) was showing. To top it off the foil was not laying flat and she put the top coat up there and put me under the UV dryer. When I then tried to tell her I didn’t think it was right she proceeded to get an attitude and tell me that she has done it before and it was right and in the picture you can’t see the texture -_- I explained that someone i know has had it done before and even in the picture for Tina (who works there)who has done it, it lays flat. She then took it upon her self to start taking it all off saying well you can go somewhere else for someone to do for you. I then told her that i did not have an attitude and was speaking calmly but she seemed to have one and it wasn’t that serious. I asked her why was she taking all the polish off because i could’ve kept the white and just did something else with the pink and foil removed. She then said well you don’t like so I take off and you can go somewhere else to do for you. Ok by this time i was done with this place. She had the nerve to ask if I still wanted a pedicure—Ummm No I’ll go somewhere else. I tipped Ryan 10 for doing absolutely nothing but taking that mess off and will never return. The biggest waste of two hours in my LIFE! If you don’t know how to do something humble yourself and ASK the person who does! Read Less

This place don’t deserve the 4 stars it has. If I could give no stars I would. Customer service sucks horribly. The person hat did my pedicure didn’t even say a word to me but what color. They don’t even ask you hat type of pedicure you want they just assume by looking at you, that you want the cheapest one. The guy was softly touching my feet like he’s never done his job before. I haven't gotten my nails done in yeaaaaars. One day I just decided to go get some gel done and Kim helped me out. It was a Monday so it wasn't busy, which was nice. There were SOOOO many colors to pick from too! Took about 30min and I was just amazed at how quickly this polish dries. They've held up solid for a little over 2 weeks. Well, the polish job was fine. However, the lady who did my pedicure ended up making a few toes bleed when she was removing cuticles and I ended up with an infection (Paronychia) because of the damage to the area which had to be treated with antibiotics & a minor surgical procedure to drain the area. I've been getting manicures and pedicures for well over 10 years now in several different states and this is the first time I've ever experienced this. I've been to many nail salons across the water (Norfolk, Suffolk & VB) go find somewhere I can still regularly go to in case my first choice was crowded. It never dawned on me to try a nail salon where I actually live due to me working across the water. Anyways, I found Pro Nails & Spa on Yelp, thought I'll try them out due to their reviews. I went later on the day yesterday (Wednesday) & it was a few people in result of me having to wait but no big deal. I notice they did have an incentive where they have their customer sign in to gain points every time they visit. The nail tech I had did my nails very well & I was satisfied which will result in me visiting again. I would not recommend this place at all. They were very unprofessional and rude. I had called ahead of time to see if I could make an appointment and if anyone was free. I was told that they only took walk ins but could do my nails. After I arrived and walked into the business no one greeted me. I waited about 7 minutes and then realized there was an iPad to sign in. My nails look ok....polish isn't sloppy but she didn't really clean up the cuticle very well and honestly the most unrelaxing mani pedi I have ever had like she rubbed my feet for maybe 2 minutes and I barely felt it.  I get pedis for the relaxation this was just a waste of my time and money.  Also none of the tools come out of clean bags so who knows how often they are actually cleaned.  Trying to figure out how this place had so many good reviews Read Less

I actually live in NC right now, and am in Hampton once a month for work.. so one day I was looking for a new nail spot because I had tried others and they sucked (3rd place I tried in Hampton actually). I've been going here for over a year now, and l can't say enough good things. I cannot say enough good about this place! I am visiting here for work and I needed a touch up on my toes and some fresh nails. I went to Suffolk one time and Williamsburg. Both were good but I didn't want to drive 40+ minutes to get these done. So I Yelped! Of course lol. And this place rated pretty high. I loved all the pictures and reviews. What did it for me was they had s picture of gel dip powder and that's is exactly what I wanted done. It is still a newer procedure so not all nail places do it! Once I saw that, the distance, and good reviews I decided why not. I got Claire and she was super amazing! She did both my gel pedicure and my gel dip full set. I love the gel dip she did amazing and it almost had a very very light ombré look. I can't have faddish nails and she did it to perfection! She cut them short like I like so I can still lift and play softball but look cute haha. I would go back just for the exceptional customer service! This is the first place that did not hurt my toes when cleaning them up, didn't hurt my bails when cleaning or filing. I won't have to take several Advil to prevent throbbing later, thank goodness! So on the door of this salon it's states mon-sat 9am to 8pm and Sundays 12pm to 6pm. So yesterday Sunday I arrive at the salon at 12:05 pm, where there were 2 ladies already outside waiting. One of the technicians arrives and opens the door right before 12:00. Only ONE technician. So I waited,then around 12:25 a second technician arrived. Since I was third in line I understood that I'd have to wait but, I also thought there might have more techs to service people. I had a prior engagement so, I thought I'll just come back in the morning at 9. I came in the today I pulled up at 9:04 and no one was there, at 9:10 I call both numbers on the door, where a lady answered and said she'd be there in 5 mins, then uttered or so. That 5 mins or so turned into ONE tech arriving at 9:37. Which I find to be highly unprofessional. I was trying to squeeze in a pedicure before my doctors appointment and yet again I couldn't. Back to back days they've opened, late obviously this is everyday. So if you plan to get there when they open, I suggest you wait a hour, to see if someone showed up!!I've never been to a nail salon before but this was peculiar to me. I've been to barber shops and hair salons,  and maybe I'm wrong but I expected this establishment to open on time, and for more than one person to show up. This place has good reviews so, that's the reason I went. I guess all the reviewers never tried to get seen when they open. Maybe I can leave a better review if I ever get serviced. Came on a Sunday afternoon and was able to sit right down for my services. The pedicure chairs are huge and have quite a few different settings which was nice. I actually felt I had received a quick massage when I left the chair. The actual pedicure services leave a bit to be desired. It was bare basic minimum. I would have greatly appreciated a little more attention to problem areas. Also, I wish the paint on my toes was more neat. I also received a Shellac manicure which was nice. The paint job on my nails was very neat and appreciated. The selection of Shellac colors is also nice because they have lots of choices. When we went to pay we told the lady why we weren't happy but she insisted on us paying the full price, by that time I was ready to just get out of there cause we spent 2 and a half hours there for some shitty nail quality. What a wonderful salon! I went for my first manicure ever only a few days prior to visiting here. The place I had gone to did a horrible job of it and I came here to be rescued from my peely gel polish.And, wow, did they ever do a good job of it!Great communication, they were very patient with me not knowing the terms and routines of nail salons that well. I came here based on the yelp reviews and I am so glad I did. My daughter and I were taken care of by Kim who did her best to accommodate my daughter's request for American flag nails. She picked out the best shades and gave her a design she loved! While my daughter's nails were drying, she painted mine. I asked for a light color gel base with a pretty white design and she totally came through for me! She also waxed my eyebrows and they came out perfect. This was my first visit to this salon which I went to  based on their great reviews. I went in for a regular pedicure and eyebrow wax. Both the ladies did a fantastic job. I really liked how the lady took her time on my pedicure and I did not feel rushed out the door like I have been with my old salon. She was very precise which I appreciate because I am extremely picky about my nails. The lady that did my eyebrows also did a great job, my eyebrows were a mess when I came in and I walked out feeling amazing. This will be my new salon and they are very reasonably priced. I don't live in the Hampton/Newport News location and was just out here for business. I spent a lot of time researching nail salons and this one was one of the only ones that had consistently good reviews. I took my chances and drove the distance. When I walked in, (I'm assuming she was the owner) asked me what I needed done today. I told her a full set and a eyebrow wax. She then said "have a seat."Now I'll remind you that this was my first visit here, and I'm unaware of there being a sign in sheet. One the owner never mentioned when she told me to sit down. So I sat and waited. I assumed I would be the next person in her chair since there was absolutely no other customers waiting at the time I arrived. She was just finishing up a customers nails. 10 minutes goes by and her customer goes to pay. Another customer walks in and "signs in". She then proceeds to take that customer. 3 other customers walk in and "sign in" and they get directed to other nail technicians. I can understand if there was an appointment, but I asked if one lady had an appointment and she said no. Needless to say I left after an hour of terrible customer communication and service. My fiancé and I decided to get our nails done and weren't sure where to go in the Hampton area. We decided based on the reviews that we would check this place out. We are VERY happy with our decision! The workers are friendly, the environment is inviting and clean, and the service was wonderful. My fiancé and I are pleased with how our pedicures turned out! The prices are reasonable and the time that they spend on their customers makes the experience worth the money.  The biggest thing I noticed with this particular nail salon is that they do NOT rush through their services, which is a BIG deal to me.  I highly suggest this place for your next pedicure or manicure! I came here on a whim.. I needed a quick manicure on my lunch break and didn't want to go to the normal place I usually go, since their prices are high, but quality isn't that great.  It's pretty easy to get too, right off of the interstate on Big Bethel. It's a nice small shop. Kim helped me and did an awesome job. I got a gel manicure, which is $28.00. However, I picked a magnetic nail polish, so it was an additional $10.  I was not mad at that at all.  Kim did a great job grooming my nails. I'm really tough on my hands. I work at an office, I work out and I do tons of dishes and house work at home that absolutely kill my cuticles and nails. She did a great job trimming my cuticles and all that other grooming stuff. I wish I would have taken a before and after shot. Because my hands were trash. And also after the polish, she gave me an awesome massage that had me ready to tackle my paperwork when I got back to the job.  She didn't skimp on the oil.. which is great. Some nail shops I go to, they use a really thin lotion or a thin oil and halfway through, your hand massage turns into an Indian burn rub down. Yay for good oil!When it came to polish, she again did a great job. Many times when I've gone to the nail shop, they will do 2 coats max.. and don't achieve the correct color and opacity that you want out of your polish. She did not cut corners. She did 4 or 5 coats of the color and I am super satisfied with the outcome. Beautiful polish. I can't complain. I've found my new nail spot. Cheaper prices and much better quality. I like my appointments to start on time, granted they were busy... but my actual apartment started 20 minutes after I came in, luckily I was with friends and didn't mind. The service was okay, my nails look fabulous  and my feet feel so soft! but my massages felt a little rushed, I think more people were coming in.Ps.
