I got my nails done about a week ago then got an infection on the side of my nail. Decent service but uncleaned materials or untrained nails techs... Update. Amy nails does a great job on nails. However, the owner is one of the RUDEST people that I have ever met. The environment is not relaxing and I am often stressed when visiting this location. We visited here and received a mani/pedi. We had no problems at all, but the owner could have had better 'bed side manners'. My guess is that is more about culture than anything else. Most people were friendly, but I did feel as if some of them were overworked. A few of the workers were talking about not being able to stop for lunch and it was after 3PM. I am so glad i found a nail shop that gives me quality service. I am a Physical education teacher that works out and runs daily. When i get my nails done, i do not have to worry about getting them repaired after a week or the polish chipping. I can go three to fours with no problems. Good service.Read Less

Amy has got to be the rudest business owner I have ever encountered. I've heard the horror stories before but had received gift certificates for Christmas so I figured I would give her a try. I had questions about how much extra shellac would cost. Simple enough right? Apparently not. Frankly I'm embarrassed to have even taken my ten year old in for a treat of a mani and pedi that she was very excited for. We left empty handed in a matter of minutes after being treated like crap. I just had my first experience here. Amy's was the fourth salon that I went to with a picture of the french fade set that I wanted. She was the first person to say yes she could do them but they are more expensive. YES! The style I like is an advanced technique! I actually WANTED her to say that! I've heard such mixed reviews about this place, so I decided it was worth a shot to check it out for myself. Thoroughly impressed with their new location as it was very spacious and clean. They had tons of color options and the lady who did my gel manicure was extremely efficient. How can you go wrong with a $15 gel mani? So far it's been three weeks and there is no major chipping, so I am quite pleased. I will definitely be going here every so often. In regard to the customer service, as other people said in their reviews, the owner isn't the friendliest. Then again most nail salons I've been to, the ladies always seem to be chatting about the customers in their own language, so I wasn't taken back by the environment. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Amy Nails. A lot of reviews state the staff is rude but I didn't encounter that. The gentleman who did my nails was attentive and friendly. I walked in on a very busy evening a few days before Christmas and I was attended to quickly. I'm giving three stars because my gel polish started chipping off within three days. I'm not sure what the typical process is for a gel manicure, but I've had my nails done several times at other salons and they always make me wash my hands prior to applying polish. They didn't have me wash my hands and I think it affected the adherence of the polish, typically it lasts longer on clean nails. I'll definitely be returning due to cost and convenience. Read Less

Awful. an older man did my pedicure, and he manhandled my feet. Didn't file my nails, barely cleaned up my cuticles, and went way too deep with the razor on my heels. He didn't use anything when he used the stone after he used the razor, so my feet are rough and raw. He also popped all my toes which I HATE. When I told him it hurt, he just laughed. PSA: sorry it's so long... I have been going to Amy Nails for over 5 years now. The nail technicians are wonderful! However, I will not be going back and here's why...I walked into Any Nails today, behind another two ladies, and proceeded to the counter. We stood there looking at colors until another lady approached the counter. Amy came out and made eye contact with me. I told her that the other two ladies were in front of everyone. She ignored me, and went to another person... in line. I was frustrated, because this was not the first time Amy has been rude to me (or any one else around me while in the shop). She then got to me, told me what chair to go to, then scorned me like a child in front of all her staff and customers. She said that she didn't need help with her shop. I explained that I was just letting her know who got there first, and even if I were wrong, all she had to do was simply correct me and proceed. So, I cry when I'm mad, sad, doesn't matter...so just sitting there, getting my nails done, with tears running down my face. I know, I should have said no thank you and left but I had driven all the way from Madison Heights to have my nails done and so I did. I paid for my service, and said goodbye for the last time. The owner decided to jump on my 4 year old daughter and her 4 year old friend who were looking at the nail colors in the basket! Weren't hurting a thing! Let me start by saying they are by far one of the cheapest nail salons I've been to. Saying that you should expect you get what you pay for. My normal place had a 2 hour wait so I decided to try Amy Nails. Walked in for a Mani/Pedi and was immediately seated for my pedi. I immediately noticed the place was run down but, I knew that they were building a new location down the road. There were no frills for my pedi and to say I'm displeased is an understatement. My feet are rougher today than they were before my pedi yesterday. Seems impossible but true. Once my pedi was done I was moved to a nail station. I showed the gentleman 3x what I wanted and he still didn't do it. Again no frills did my nails and sent me on my way. I do like the French Mani, it just wasn't exactly what I wanted. All in all $53 for both. Like I said before you get what you pay for. I won't be back. I'll wait at Al Nails next time and pay a little more. The staff at Al Nails are polite and take their time. Normally go here to get pedicure, which is hardly ever that I go. Decided to go yesterday and the skinny, older gentlemen that did my toes was so rude and nasty!! He never acknowedged me to begin with, never said hello or anything. I was indecisive on a color and he told me to put them on a piece of paper and figure it out. Picked out an orange color, but when he put it on my toe it looked lighter so I changed my mind and lord I thought that was going to be the end of the world by his expression and rudeness. He slammed the colors down on table.I mean come on dude, it takes 2 seconds to wipe off a color and put something else on. Get a life and if are unhappy working with customers, which is your job, maybe you should sit on that little couch and watch tv with your family and talk in your language all day and avoid customers bc that sure seemed to make ya laugh!!! I can't give 0 stars. Went into Amy nails with a bridal party of 6.. made an appointment two weeks out. Never in my life have I had such a short, pathetic pedicure! From the time my water was run, I was painted and out in 17 minutes.. removed old paint, clipped nails, smeared on some lotion, then repainted. Not to mention a five year old could have done a better paint job! I had more polish on my skin than my nails. While the 22.00 price is less than most, I wouldn't have paid 10 for the service we got. Went with my fiancée to get pedicures and was horribly disappointed. She got a manicure as well. They didn't even wait for her to do that before starting mine. Whoever did mine didn't say a word to me the entire time and was rude as all. When you go for a couples thing you should make sure we are together especially when you aren't busy at all. You all need to grow a pair! Amy is just straight up ... Virginia is the BEST nail technician I have ever been to - she is thorough and I have been going to her for years! It is worth the wait and clearly they're good or they wouldn't be packed all the time and building a larger place to accommodate more customers. I was wary of this place based on the Yelp reviews I had read - but I found the criticisms to be unfounded. I received an excellent pedicure, better than I get at my regular salon (I'm from out of town) and I got it at a better price. The salon workers were good and attentive, professional and helpful. Mani/PediYea, I'm a guy who goes with his s.o. when she does her nails etc. and this place is fine as far as we can tell, they do a fine job.  They are a bit rough around the edges - not sure if I would classify it as outright "rude", but they are busy and I can see how people can take it the wrong way.The place is large and there are quite a lot of pedi-chairs and nail stations around the place.  In my opinion, there are WAAAY too many color choices for the ladies- it adds a lot of time to the process for them to find and choose a color- my girl thinks nothing of killing 2 hours here...me, not so much.That being said, they do not take appointments, and with the massive selection of colors, it turns into a confused mess... they really ought to try to bring some order to the process.Prices are average for the area. This is where I go because at $20-25 for a pedicure, it is a good value compared to the $40 and $50 spa prices.  This isn't the place you go for a luxury spa treatment, but you can get a good job at a fair price.  It's a busy, family-run business and run in a more casual, less professional manner than a fancy place, but everyone is nice, you can get free sodas or snacks in the waiting area, and they are always willing to work you in without an appointment.  It has always appeared clean to me, and the techs open new tools whenever I go in. If I could give 0 stars I would. I went in to have my eyebrows waxed and waited for ten minutes before she sent me to a chair and said "someone will come help you". Fair enough. So I wait another 15 minutes for a girl to come around the corner and tell me to move out of the chair so she could do someone else's eyebrows before mine. One of the girls looks at another of her co-workers and mumbles " yeah I know you're pissed"... Worst nail shop in Lynchburg! Staff is rude, especially Amy! Went in one time to get my eyebrows waxed and they didn't even have the wax cut on. They were very rude and said 10 minutes for it to heat up, so I waited. Then the lady said 5 more and I waited. Well, 30 passed by, the wax was hot, the lady looked at it and started doing someone's nails. I looked around, they looked at me and started talking and I walked out!I know of some previous coworkers that go there for their shellac, especially when its $10. Well, it typically looks bad and chips within a week. They don't take their time or care about their clients! My mother-in-law, my 5 year old daughter and I just got home from our first mani/pedis at Amy Nails. 76$ before tip for SUCH an unfulfilling experience!A woman from Las Vegas worked on me-she doesn't even work at Amy's, she said. She is only here visiting her sister. So, come on. A man worked on my mother-in-law, who normally goes to Personal Touch. Well. Neither she nor I got a sugar or salt scrub done on our feet or calves, there was no massage on our feet or calves-that's like the best part of going to get your pedicure done instead of doing it at home!My daughter only wanted her fingernails done. She wanted pink with a little flower on each nail. The same lady who did mine did my daughter's before she tended to me. She did not clip my daughter's at all and did not even file them. My child still has the same jagged thumb nails as when she went in! The lady told me that she won't clip or file nails on a child because it will hurt their heart. Well, maybe she should have told me this before she made me pay 14$ for my child's manicure. I would have requested another person to do it. She didn't even clean the dirt out from under them before she painted them. She also told me after the whole thing was done that this polish will only last 24 hours. Again-tell me these things BEFORE you charge me 14$. I was getting her nails done because we are going to the beach with her little cousin in 3 days. Great.I asked for my nails to be done French manicure clean and simple style. I got nonstop chatter and arguing from this non-employee lady the entire time she was doing my feet. She must have stopped to talk like 20 times. I was like, 'come on, lady, hush and get to letting me freaking relax and do my massage and sugar scrubs already!'  While I was finally getting my nails done someone who ACTUALLY worked there asked her why it was taking so stinking long-she said 'because I keep talking.' She could not let me just do a regular manicure with regular nail polish. Nonsense nonstop talk and debate about how I HAVE to get gel or shellac or my manicure will not last. Ugh. I'm the customer! The customer should get what the customer is going there to pay for! And it is NOT polite to talk in another language to other employees while you are with a customer-especially not polite to gesture at them! After the lady next to me left every employee in there that was spread out around the workspace was talking loudly back and forth about how they did not like the last customer's (who just left) hair. The lady doing my nails was telling me about all their comments. Then I come home and see how all this shellac is in big unfinished gobs under my nails and edges hanging off and I have to fix it up, after putting clear nail polish on top of my child's nails because they are already peeling.
