I walked in without an appointment on a busy Saturday and had to wait about half an hour, but it was so worth it! I came in with very poorly done SNS nails from another salon that were quite stubborn to remove, but the staff was very patient and never tried to file to hurt my nails. After, they completely checked with me through every step of the process (I decided on gel nails) to make sure I was satisfied. I ended up with perfect nails that are still going strong one week later and after a move with heavy cleaning! I could tell they really wanted me to leave happy and I did. I won't be back. I made an appt to have my gel mani removed and for a regular manicure (to give my nails a break). The person on the phone was very pleasant when I made my appt and I got a good vibe. However, when I arrived, the assigned technician asked about but paid no attention to my desired nail length or shape. She sawed at my nails so vigorously that I yelped at one point. My nails were quite long and I said multiple times that I did not want short nails, but she vigorously filed them down to nothing. And she was rough about it.I asked her to gently round the edges because I did not want square nails. In response, she sawed every nail on my right hand into a pointy oval shape, like witches nails. She did a slightly better job on the left. The polish was so thick but she kept glopping it on. It was also very unevenly applied. It took hours to dry and it's dented/smushed in a few spots because it was so applied so thickly. The hand massage was nice and strong but a tad rough. Apparently I'm not the only one who has experienced the gloppy polish problem. Another customer came in and complained about her thick/uneven polish not drying properly from the day before and asked for a do-over.All in all, a disappointing experience. Read Less

I feel like my experience at Lotus Nail was a bit of an anomaly. Most people seem to have good, if not great, experiences here, but for me it was somewhat of a miss. A group of us stopped in on a Saturday afternoon without an appointment. Despite that, they quickly got us situated, and started working on us right away. I decided to go with a gel manicure ($30) because I wanted something that would last for a while. The technician that did my nails was not very detail oriented, and I ended up with rather sloppy looking nails. The polish was not very evenly applied, and some polish ended up on my skin too. It seemed like she was in a rush despite the fact that the salon was pretty empty that day...I feel like I just got paired up with the wrong technician. My boyfriend's sister had a different technician, and her nails turned out looking great. $30 for a gel manicure is a pretty good price, but I'd rather pay a little extra for more attention to detail elsewhere. Absolutely the best nail salon in the area. I've been to many all over the DMV and this is my favorite! The techniques used are polished and professional. The ladies at the shop even have beautiful nails. The environment is clean and comfortable. Everyone is professional and have great personalities. My foot rub was amazing, it put me in a zen zone. I waited two weeks after getting my pedicure to write this review.I made an appointment for Saturday afternoon and I was seen about 15 minutes after my appointment time which really irritates me especially when I've gone to the trouble of making an appointment.Anyway onto the pedicure it was really long so if you're into a long luxurious pedicure this place could potential he be your heaven. The lady who did my nails was nice but did not talk to me at all about my nail desires. For example if I wanted them cut short if I needed anything additional. The polish was fine but chipped the very next day which I'm not used to with a pedicure. Usually they last a really long time. A 4 star place, perhaps 4.5. I got a Lotus (regular) pedicure which is $28. Get a mani pedi for $40! Otherwise a Lotus manicure is $15. They have a broad selection of colors to choose from. I appreciate that they use disposable liners between customers in the foot baths for the pedicures. The scrub felt nice and the massage was relaxing. I liked their massage chairs, you can adjust between the type of massage and where on your back you want it. My feet look clean and pretty! The only thing I didn't like about this experience was that they kept talking to each other in Vietnamese and, me being the paranoid person I am, I kept thinking they were saying something about me or my friend. The location itself is also somewhat seedy looking until you step inside. Tip is cash only. I added on a massage for $20, for 15 minutes worth. Not really worth it in my opinion. Cut my toe so that they had trouble stopping the bleeding. If you like 20 minute pedicures where you feel as though it's a race to get you done, you'll love this place. This is by far the most personable salon I have ever been to. I don't know how Jackie does it, but she knows her customers by name.
