Today was my first time at this nail salon. I will admit I was apprehensive due to having a skin condition(not contagious), but right away I was met with a feeling of normalcy. My pedicure was done by Elizabeth, and she was absolutely amazing. She did such a wonderful job and is extremely personable. I will definitely be using VIP in the future. Terrible customer service. They told my daughter and I it will be 20to 35 minutes wait so we signed up and told the receptionist that we will be back we’re just going next door, we came back before 20 minutes sat there and wait and wait and wait. Finally my daughter asked the receptionist when are they going to call us and she said another 30 minutes while others that were there after us had already having the service. I just went to get my nails done on Saturday. I've been to this salon before to get my nails done for my wedding and I can't remember his name, but the gentleman did an amazing job. However, this last experience was terrible. Helen did my nails. She wasn't nice at all, barely talked to me, told me my nails were too small to do and kept pushing me to get gel nails. I've never gotten gel nails, i'm comfortable with what I get. She did a very sloppy job with the color, and she was not gentle with my fingers at all. I have been searching for a place in Chesapeake to get my liquid gels nails done. I live in and have a place in Virginia Beach. But I work in Chesapeake and often wish to get them done on my lunch break. I stopped in on Monday about 1 and it was rather slow. I looked at the price menu to see what to expect for a fill. $30  seemed a lil high  (my place in VAB charges $20) but was will to pay a lil more to get them done at my convenience.  While the nails were  ok..... The paint job left much to be desired! I get an American manicure, the reason and difference from 'french' is that there is no harsh line........ Well half had a line and half did not. The ones that did they were uneven. Some were shaped square, and others rounded. I wear corrective lens so I did not notice till I got back to the office. Upon further inspection I found 2 that had bubbles, one that had a very hard bump??  To add insult, I was charged $45, $15.00 to paint half the nail vs full??  And as it turns out you can not leave a tip on your cc, which this time was just fine by me! Beautiful work, clean salon and competitive prices! I got a milk and honey pedicure from Courtney and a full set of gel nails by Michael. The staff was friendly and accommodating even though I walked in for both at 7 and the salon closes at 8 they stayed and did my nails no rushing and no feeling like I was rushed. Went here for the first time today and will definitely be back!  Surprised how big it was when I entered. Greeted immediately, and hardly any wait on a very busy Saturday afternoon. Very clean. I recently relocated the V. Beach area and desperately needed my nails done after having surgery, packing to relocate....the whole 9 yards. So, I chose VIP due to the ratings. I called on a Sunday, about an hour before they closed to find out if they had SNS powder AND to see if I could come in to get a mani and pedi. They told me that they did carry SNS powder products and I was told I could come in. When I got there I was seated in the pedi chair fairly quickly.The pedi was not all that great. The tech...although he was extremely nice and curteous only scrubbed my feet for about a minute and a half...each foot. My feet don't need a lot of work, however, I like a good scrub that lasts longer than an (old fashioned) Mike Tyson fight. I mean...really! I asked him why such a short time and he basically said that my feet were not "rough" and they didn't need much work. That was true but I'm PAYING for a pedicure. Give me what I'm PAYING for which SHOULD be a QUALITY pedi. Anyhoo, on to my nails. Let me just say, I've had SNS on my nails several times and the SNS powder has ALWAYS lasted at least 3 weeks with NO chipping. Well, I got my nails done on a Sunday and by Thursday...they were chipping. Not just one but two. I went back on the following Saturday since I was told to come back just in case they chipped. I was never told that from the tech's at the salon I went to in New Jersey. The tech here must have had issues with clients' nails chipping before. Anyway, he reapplied the clear coating on all my nails but they still shouldn't look like they're looking in the pics I posted. The prices here are a bit pricey in my opinion. I've also noticed that there are no discounts...on certain days...at ANY of the salons in the area. I'm used to ($20 regular mani AND pedi) and discounts on certain services including SNS powder (Monday-Wednesdays) where I'm from. I wanted to like this place but I don't think I'll be back. I don't have $60..PLUS tips...to throw away. For this kind of money, my nails should not look the way that they do. Read Less

I was due for a manicure and pedicure , So I decided go try this place out since it was fairly new. The nail salon is very upscale when you walk in. The decor is beautiful, plenty of pedicure chairs and nail stations. The front desk host was nice, informed me there would be a wait about 45 minutes. No big deal for me since I was done with my work day. The host lead me to my pedicure chair, water felt great, and my nail specialist came over. She did not say anything when she came over, walked away, and then returned after 10 minutes. First warning for me, second warning was the young lady was so busy looking down in her pocket at the phone because it kept making the text message sound, third warning was she answered the phone while attending to my feet. Hellooooo they can wait unless it was an emergency but of course it wasn't.She did say sorry about being rude and I didn't react, I was too numb. Fourth warning she was too distracted because some girl kept whispering in her ear, I assume she worked there too hmmmmm.....I paid 48.00 for the horrific service and will not return. VIP really does make you feel like a VIP. I walked in close to the end of the day and I'm SURE they thought to themselves "seriously? She wants a pedicure and a refill when we close in an hour and a half? But they never made me feel like that's what they were thinking. We started with my pedicure and they played attention to detail, took their time. I've never felt so relaxed during a pedicure in my life. LOVED it. Then Lynn did my refill and she was the SWEETEST. I apologized because I knew my refill would keep her past 7 when they technically closed and she said it was no problem at ALL. And once again, took her time, payed close attention to detail, and couldn't have been nicer. I am BEYOND impressed with VIP Nails and Spa and I am absolutely going to become a regular from here on out. :) They are fantastic!! The salon is CLEAN and relaxing. The atmosphere is wonderful! We recently came in for my sisters birthday. Their lack of communication was the first thing that threw us off. It was a scheduled pedi but they didn't listen to us and kept being confused as much as we were. I ended up getting just an Ok pedi. She didn't really do much more than I do for myself at home. She also cut my nail too short on my big toe and it hurt for a good week. The polish has stayed on for a good two weeks though with minor chips. Side Note: You can only tip with cash. I like this place. This is my first time. Clean and inviting atmosphere. Spacious area. Quiet and relaxing. They have many options for Manis and pedis.  They took thier time and did not rush. I went to VIP Nail Salon & Spa for the first time this week and received a great powder gel fill in and shellac manicure. My technician was Allen, who I think may have been the manager because he wasn't dressed like the other staff. He was very friendly and took his time filing my nails to a pointy almond shape and making sure they were all even. I had goofed up during the manicure and accidentally put my hand under the UV light before I was supposed to so he had to use polish remover to start over but he was incredibly easy going and told me to stop apologizing. I absolutely love the work he did. He didn't rush me out of the UV light like I've experienced at Anthony Vince and he put three top coats on my nails to ensure they wouldn't chip. FABULOUS salon with amazing nail technicians! Received an SNS manicure and a spa pedicure with Kat -- she is AMAZING! Hands down the best manicure I've ever gotten! So many great SNS colors to choose from, too! The salon was clean and had great customer service! I'm still sitting in the chair but I am six months pregnant and have been needing to just relax. John has done the most incredible pedicure massage I think Iv ever had, and I'm a girl that has had a pedicure pretty much my whole life. I had the Jelly Pedicure which was new and different for me. Super impressed and will absolutely be back! The salon is clean, Iv watched every technician sterilize their tools after using them while Iv sat here and their throwns are used with disposable bags after every client. I'm a licensed cosmetologist so Iv studied about all the fungus possible at nail salons and I feel confident in saying this is one of the cleanest salons Iv been in! Read Less

Atmosphere: The atmosphere here is better than most places I find myself waiting at while my wife and daughter get their nails done. The decor is somewhat modern. A relaxing hue of colors lights up the ceiling.Quality: Since I'm training for a couple of marathons I thought I'd join my wife on getting a pedicure. The pedicure itself was really good, especially with the GEL or Jelly treatment and leg massage that came with it. Overall it was better than other places I've been at in Chesapeake. Cleanliness: Although, it still does smell like a nail salon the headache inducing scent wasn't nearly as strong as most places. The floors clean and the new massage chairs new and all wiped down. Service: My wife's technician was very friendly and professional. He defiantly made her feel comfortable while encouraging us to get the GEL treatment. My technician...not so much. I'd like to say she was just being professional but it felt more like she was disinterested with my being there. I guess the best way to describe it was, she lacked warmth. Still it didn't affect the quality of the pedicure so I'm okay with it. Price: No real difference. Basically the same as everywhere else in Chesapeake. Overall: I found it A-OK (3 Stars) but my wife says she's a fan at 4 Stars...so I'll give it 3.5 and round up until I go there again next month as I think I'll keep the pedicure up until this years marathons are over. As I write this, I am hesitating between a 3-4*.I went as a large, reserved party for a bridal shower.  Call me crazy but I prefer hot/very warm pedicure water.  For some reason there was this weird bag around the inside of the pedicure tub and the water was ridiculously lukewarm.  Gross.  But she kept trying to make it warmer but it just never got there.  So I guess one of these tubs is broken...please remove it or fix it.  Spa pedicures are way too much money to sit there in what feels like old bath water.The service was great - the lady that helped me was very nice and she did a great job.  My manicure afterwards was also great.  The salon is very clean, very new and pretty nice.  It's pretty far from me so I don't know that I'll be back on a regular basis but it was decent to try once.They allowed us to bring in treats of the bride and we sort of took over one side of the salon which was fun.  I wouldn't say "don't go here" but if you get one of those naughty pedicure tubs, just ask for another seat.  Be happy instead of sitting there with a boo boo face like I did.  I just had no where else to sit or I would've moved.
