I have been to two different nail salons before I went to Modern Nails and I promise you, I will never go to anyone else but Modern. From the moment I walked in, it was clean and peaceful. The staff was super friendly and I didn’t wait forever just to get a fill. I sat down with Long and he was phenomenal. So friendly and very funny, super nice and knew exactly what I wanted and gave that to me. He could tell I wanted a coffin shaped nail and that the last technician I went to BUTCHERED my nails and he fixed them. He made my nails look absolutely beautiful and I was so comfortable the entire time. No one pressured me for other services and the prices were very fair. I hands are so soft and he didn’t rip my cuticles like the last person did. I absolutely love Modern Nails and this will be my one and only salon I will go to for nails here in VA. My pedicure experience was great. I wanted to get my legs waxed. Owner gave me a price but didn't seem sure. That made me unsure about getting I done. I asked another person there if they offered the service and they said that they did not. When checking out I happen to see the list of services and leg waxing was not offered. I'm glad I went with my instincts and did not get it done because I would have been very upset if they didn't do a good job. Bottom line is just say no if you don't offer the service. Read Less

Great customer service. I tried to do my own nails, it was a mess. They took really good​ care of me. When I left, I had a beautiful set of nails, my hands were nice and soft, and I had a great time. I went to this place for the first time before Christmas. I was excited to find it because it's easy to get to, and I met a friend there. My pedicure spa tub was not working.  That didn't have to be a problem, they could have just moved me to another chair.  But the man who was doing my pedicure pulled out the piece that does the bubbles, letting it drip all over the floor, and soaked my shoes and my purse.  I'm talking soaked.  Then he drained the tub so my feet and legs were in an empty tub about 10-15 minutes while he attempted to fix the problem.  I nearly got up then and walked out, and I wish I had.  My mistake.  Then he just shrugged his shoulders, gave up, and went about my pedicure.  It was a short one... I got nothing but the minimum (I don't even think I got what I paid for), I am assuming because he spent so much time on the tub he couldn't fix.  Within a week my toenails were actually tearing on the sides.  I will never go back there.  My friend, who just watched this situation unfold with just a dumbfounded look, has told me she hasn't been back since.  This is by far the worst nail salon I've ever been to! This is one of the worst salons I have ever visited. There were children running around with toys everywhere and the salon was very unclean. I was charged $53 for a manicure and pedicure with gel polish only on my hands. The gel Polish started chipping within 4 days and I think my 10 year old niece could have done a neater polish job. I will never ever patronize this establishment again. The lady that did my nails repeatedly asked "you want eyebrow?" My eyebrows had been threaded only days before and you could see that they were freshly arched. She just wanted more money. I forgot to add, my manicure consisted on sitting my hands in a bowl of cold water for less than a minute and the cleaning of 6 cuticles as she was talking and skipped several fingers. Salon is tucked away. You wouldn't even know it was there unless you were coming to Food Lion. Salon is now open on Sundays 12-4. Once I entered into the salon, I notice it was "Bring your kids to work". There were 3 small kids and a teenager. Initially they were playing Legos in the front no problem. Then they relocated to the back. The baby was rinsed off in the sink. The 2 other young children were refilling pedicure supplies. Ok, back to the spa.... Only 2 people working which is a downer if your trying to get in and out. .... Oh wait the teenage proceeded to wash his leg in the sink. Apparently he spilt some pedicure scrub on him. I've been still in the massage chair so long my massage is no longer going and my water went from extremely hot to extremely cold... So my pedicure begins. This little salon is tucked into the George Washington Commons shopping center next to Food Lion. The business, like most nail salons, is family own and run. Tiffany did my mani and pedi and gave me the most amazing food massage I have ever had! I have a big toe that was recently broken and still sore to walk on and she worked out every single kink and I swear- healed me! I can walk without pain, and I move it again. The prices were fair- $35 for basic mani/pedi but they offer everything. They don't have a huge gel color selection, which is why I didn't do it- but I think they are willing to invest in their regular customers. They were attentive and friendly and clean. They take their time and listen to what you want and that is really important to me....I don't like feeling rushed. I want to be pampered. Read Less
