I just came today to get my nails done. I normally do my own acrylic nails, but I had really let them go. So I wanted the lady to just soak them left overs off and redo them. She ended up using nail clippers to “crack” the acrylic and peel it off. She ended up breaking my natural nail and making them thin. Still sitting here 50 minutes past my appointment time. They have not started on my nails. I've heard good thing about Nail Bar but am 100% disappointed in the way they stack up clients. I did not hear them tell any walkins that they should comeBack in an hour or two. Obviously they don't want to turn away customers  but this is a poor way to manage your business. Editing to reply to Nail Bar - I'm not sure what time you let your tech leave but we called at 11:00 to schedule our 12:00 appt - maybe you should have told us you didn't have availability instead of letting us come and wait for an hour.  We could have come later, or we could have gone elsewhere. I really want to love Blacksburg Nail Bar, but the service can be pretty hit or miss. The quality of the work, especially when it comes to SNS, varies greatly based upon who your nail tech is. If you're planning on getting SNS, I would really encourage trying to make an appointment with Katherine. She has limited availability but is by far the best one there. With most of the other technicians, I have problems with them knicking my cuticles and skin with the drill and sloppy work. Beware that even if you make an appointment, they overbook and take walk-ins when busy, so you may have to wait. During my most recent visit, the long wait time made it so I stayed past close and the nail tech, in a hurry to leave, did a poor job on my second hand. After hearing glowing reviews of The Nail Bar from my friends, I thought I'd give it a try. I unfortunately did not have the same fantastic experience that everyone else had. The nail tech didn't even sanitize and disinfect her table and tools before getting started. As soon as her client got up, she moved me to her chair and jumped right in. Please note that I was sitting right beside of her last client. Virginia State Board regulations state that the workstation, any and all tools (this includes the nail file, clippers, brush, ect.) must be properly sanitized and disinfected, or disposed, after each and every service. My hands were placed in the nail filings/dust from the other client's service, which is unacceptable and disgusting. She filed and clipped my nails, and didn't even push back or clean up my cuticles before applying the SNS. This is the first time I I've ever had a nail service performed that didn't include the basic nail grooming before polish. Cuticle work is the only reason I pay someone to do my nails for me. This is also the first time I've ever left a nail salon feeling worse than when I came in. I wasn't in love my nails, but by the end of it all, I just wanted to pay and get out. My nail tech was nice enough, but I just feel that she didn't take the time to listen to me and just wanted to get on to the next set of nails. I had to refile my nails when I got home. But at least they're wearable. Please keep in mind that this was just one nail tech, and I'm sure that there are other excellent technicians working at the Nail Bar who will provide you with an exceptional service, and will use sterile instruments. However, this was such an awful experience for me, that I'd just rather deal with what I received, and press my luck elsewhere in the future. I try to not be a difficult customer, as I work in a similar industry, and understand how difficult the job can be and how sometimes, we just simply have bad days. This is a long review but it's necessary. I've been a loyal customer of Nail Bar since their opening. My first few visits were great and my nails looked amazing (I always get SNS). They explained everything to me and all extra fees I might have to pay. As time went on, their customer service declined. They began to clearly overbook themselves and their technicians were less friendly, informative, and experienced. My nails and cuticles suffered from bad nail practices and injury (from over drilling). My nails would be wider at the ends from excess powder and often very bumpy when I got SNS. My last visit was the final straw. I had an appointment and my party was all there either before or right on time. They had overbooked themselves and we weren't able to sit down until an hour and a half later. They didn't actually start our nails until 30 mins after that. Once we were finally done they charged us for tips when we had never been charged before (my tips were at Most a cm longer than my nail). I had only been coming to nail bar since they opened. When they first open they were professional and has very good nail techs. The other day I called an made an appointment at 6:00 for me and two of my friends. We arrived right on time and they were completely packed. Three other girls came in after us and said they also had an appointment at 6. They over booked themselves knowing they had way too many people. My friends and I waited 3 HOURS EVEN THOUGH WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT! We finally got our nails done and the guy I had was awful. He was rude and made It obvious he didn’t want to be there, he hurt me twice with the drill thing and never even said sorry. I asked multiple times for my nail shape and he just kept saying I’ll do it later not now. One of my nails was completed crooked and asked him to fix It. Then my nails weren’t dry yet and he proceeded to put the lotion on my hands but that ruined the clear coat of my nails and had to wait for someone else to fix my hand again before leaving. My other friend was told she was charged 5 dollars for “length” The tips were barely longer then her natural nails. However both her and I had gotten our nails these lengths before and never did they say we were charged. Maybe they charged us for It but we assumed that was just the actual price. You should always let your costumers know what might charge extra. All in all, very unprofessional, rude staff expect for 2 people who I loved so it saddens me that their coworkers ruined this salon for me and not to mention again waiting for 3 hours when we had an appointment. Well my first time was great. But second time I come back to get acrylic because SNS nails cant be filled in and on that note once you get the SNS Nails then you have to start all over again you can't get them filled in you can't get them painted and they should tell you that before you pay $45 or $40 if you get no French manicure.So I get nails done and after I get home I can't help they are too long..I go to the nail bar 3 times and they are too busy. When I finally got in ...to get my nails filed down they questioned me why didn't I say they too long.. I can't help i changed my mind.?! If they are not making a chunk of change off you then they don't want to fix something that is their job!! And Charged me 5 dollars and should have been 3! ...Or free for the many times I came and had to leave. I went it to remove my SNS manicure and it was an absolute disaster. I told the guy working on my nails repeatedly that I had acrylic tips, but he didn't seem to understand. After rushing through the process, I left with visible SNS on my nails and all of the acrylic tips still on (just filed down to my natural nail length). My nails have divots and flat spots from using the electric sander to get the polish off instead of letting the acetone work. I was so shocked. I immediately went to CVS next door and bought my own acetone, cotton balls, and tin foil. A $10 removal turned into $20, plus months of letting my nails repair. Read Less

I was really excited to try this place, and I did so today. I’m usually not one to complain because the nail services I received were great. However, my eyebrows were a different story. The woman who assisted me was obviously in a hurry, but was rather rough on my eyebrows. I left with bright red, swollen eyebrows, and have later discovered a blood blister just below my brown bone from where she got my skin with the tweezers. Regretfully, this is my first two star rating. I always feel horrible about posting negative reviews, but I think by sharing my experience I can help others receive better customer service. I went in for a pedicure, and a younger boy was my technician. He did not let my feet soak before beginning and I noticed immediately he was a little rough with cuticle and nail clippers. I let it ride, just assuming he was a little less gentle, until he cut me and I began bleeding. There was no massage and it was the shortest pedicure I have ever had. (Honestly, short was probably better in this situation. I was pretty mentally checked out and I just wanted my foot to stop bleeding and to get out of there.)I've had tons of pedicures in my life, and this was by far the worst. I usually don't leave reviews on Facebook. Although I love Nail Bar Blacksburg (I've been a loyal customer since June), I felt the need to complain on this issue. Last week (Thursday) I went to Nail Bar Blacksburg to get my nails done. I showed the man doing my nails a shape I wanted and the length I wanted. While he was doing my nails, he made the skin on my pinkie bleed pretty bad. He kept wiping the blood off (which I was fine with), then he put nail glue on the wound. I d...idn't speak up, I figured it was something that would help. When my nails were finished, the shape wasn't like the picture I wanted and my nails weren't the length that I wanted. I was charged $5 extra for the nails because the acrylic tips were "extra long".. I still didn't speak up, I kind of just let it go. When I got home that night I peeled the nail glue off and my skin started to peel off with it. A couple days after I got my nails done, part of my nail broke off. I don't bite on my nails, so I didn't do anything extreme for them to be broken. Today, one of my nails completely broke off. I do not recommend getting acrylic tips put on by Nail Bar Blacksburg. Every time I have gotten acrylic nails, they peel off so easy. It feels like a rip off to pay $45 plus a tip for nails to have them break within a week of having them on when they should be lasting 2-3 weeks. Like I said before, I love Nail Bar Blacksburg, but I'm not sure if I'll be returning after having this happen. Update: Nail Bar Blacksburg done a great job at resolving my issue! I go to Nail Bar because I am a student and its just a convenient place to go. My last visit was my ~5 time getting acrylics/ SNS manicure, but I am a seasoned acrylic nail wearer as I get them done at home while not in Blacksburg. The first visit was very pleasant and the SNS manicure was great and also my first time using powder ($40?) So the next time I came to get a color change on the SNS, I was told it wasn’t possible, but had to completely take off the nails and get a ...new set (another $40). I didn’t know this was the protocol because it was my first time, but it would have been nice to have been told that a “polish” change isn’t possible. So I stopped getting SNS. Next time I got acrylics again, and similar to what some other reviewers have said, I was worked on by AT LEAST 3 different people which took much longer than if I had just been helped by one. The acrylics were satisfactory. Now for the most recent visit: I needed an acrylic fill and a gel polish change. The prices are quite inflated which I knew, but when I got the total, it was almost the same as getting a complete full set again with gel polish! Ive never been to a salon where they charge $5 to cut down the nails and $3 to “shape” them. My total came to over $40 with a tip, I was expecting $30 plus tip. And on top of that, its been a week and 2 days now, with very little manual work, and one of my nails has already broken (they have broken easily before from this salon). Not one of my nails broke over the summer when I was getting it done in Richmond (same thickness too!) and I had a full time job with manual work! Went here for the first time today to wax my eyebrows and I told the technician I just wanted to do a clean up and keep my shape. She did a good job cleaning up my brows but she messed up my natural shape! I have natural arches which she ripped off and made my eyebrows too thin. When I told her I was upset she just kinda laughed about it like it was a joke. When she noticed I was serious she did attempt to fix it but just left it more uneven so I just gave up. Had a gel mani/regular pedi here a couple weeks ago and I wanted to wait to see how it held up before reviewing. So far not a single chip, bubble, or crack on either the mani/pedi 2 weeks in. I was a bit late to my appointment but they were very nice about it and saw me right away - they weren't very busy at the time though. They have a lot of color options and I do appreciate that they use liners in their pedi tubs. Everything is very clean. Tech was really quiet, I don't typically like to chat so that was fine with me, though he did seem to be in a bit of a rush. Didn't affect the quality of the work though, just was a bit less relaxing.I do wish they had a website/actual online booking (not just through Yelp), great for those of us who are already online all day and are phone-shy  ;) Overall, I would recommend. I got sns on my nails about a week and a half ago. The man who did my nails did not take off any cuticles or dead skin. He charged me $50 because he said he had to take off "acrylic" which I have never had on my nails. My nails look horrible. They are extremely thin and are chipping off. I recently had one break in half. Fortunately, my actual nail didn't break off. I went to Nail Envy in Christiansburg and could immediately see the difference in the nails. This was my first time at the nail bar because my husband got me a gift card for Mother's Day. I don't choose to leave reviews often, however, I was so disappointed in my experience here I felt I needed to. My mom and I went in to have a pedicure done before going on a trip, it was suppose to be a relaxing experience but it was far from that. The lady I got was extremely rude, and when scrubbing my feet she literally made me hold my leg up almost above her head and when I tri...ed to put it down a little she rolled her eyes, sighed and told me I needed to help her out, and to keep my foot up. That was only the beginning, she also burnt my leg and foot with the stones, she asked the person beside her if it was too hot and he said yes, I left with whelps on my legs and feed. The lady also didn't do any massaging of my legs, people around me with the same package was getting their legs beat on, I didn't even get lotion on mine. My mom got the same package as me and hers took twice as long and she had a lot more done. Lastly, my toes had absolutely no shine to them, it was almost like there was no top coat. I was severely unimpressed and disappointed with the nail bar after reading great reviews. I went in during the early afternoon on a weekday when it wasn't crowded and asked for a gel color. The man who did my nails was the worst part of my experience because he seemed to be in a bad mood, would walk away for extended periods of time, and worst of all said a rude slurr in another language when I didn't understand what he told me about drying my nails. Beyond that, he layered the paint so light it's see through in certain parts (not pictured well but very obvious looking at it) Really bad first impression and won't take my business back here. Today was my second visit to Nail Bar. The first one I was impressed. They were very busy the first time but were very friendly and good quality service. I decided to take my daughter there tonight. She got pedi and gel nails. Her nails look terrible and the person doing her pedicure cut her several times and was very rough with her. I got SNS French with tips and the gentleman that did mine took forever. He kept messing them up and I asked for square and they are not square - not evenly shaped. This was my first time going to Nail Bar because it was recommended to me by a friend. I made a 12:00 pm appointment. Someone told me to sit in a chair and someone would be with me to take off the shellac I had on my nails. I sat at this table for over an hour without a single person offering to help me. Several other walk-ins came in and were taken right away. After waiting for an hour, someone came over and started on my nails. He did a SNS manicure in under 20 minutes.... None of my nails are shaped the same, my cuticles were not even touched. While using the electric file, he filed into my skin near my cuticle and I was bleeding. He told me it was fine and proceeded with the top coat. I told the lady at the front desk that I waited for over an hour for my appointment and that he cut me and I was bleeding and the cut was burning, AND I was still charged full price. After going to one nail salon in Blacksburg and receiving horrible service I was so excited when this place opened up. I got a manicure with SNS polish and acrylics and pedicure from here and I loved it. The nails stayed strong for 3 weeks and no chips on my toes.
