I visted to get a gel set redone. A fine bit drill was used to remove the old set (done elsewhere), which was starting to lift at the edges. Then a rougher drill bit was used to prepare the surface of my nails for new tips. My thumbnail became sensitive to the drilling and I was very uncomfortable the thinnness and, overall, with how thin my nails were. There are red spots on some nails where the nail is very thin. I had not ever experienced this before. She said that it needed to be done to make the tips adhere and last, and that I couldn't take it. I said I wanted to leave. I did not want any more drilling. My nails are uncomfortably thin and now I have to wait in this discomfort for them to grow out. I am not happy and will not return to this salon. It is a combination of the drilling and being told I can't take it. That's right, I won't take it. I have not experienced it elsewhere and I have had my nails done many times over several years. This place is THE BEST! I stop in every two weeks religiously for a gel mani and I swear there is no better place in the area (trust me I've tried them all!) Meticulous job on pedicure but beware of extra charges. I get pedicures very regularly (but not here) and have never been charged extra for callus removal... the technician asked if I wanted my callus removed and did not inform me there was a charge. The charge was $8!!!! I have nice feet bc I just got a pedicure 2 weeks before. What a ripoff. I've never been charged for this at any other salon. I've been coming to this salon for over 2 years now and refuse to go anywhere else. I always have either Lisa or Danny do my nails. They do acrylics perfectly, and with the gel I've never had my nails chip or anything. Most of the time I come I have a photo of a nail design from the internet and they always do their best to give me exactly what I want. Great selection of colors in regular and gel. They have never made me wait more than 10 minutes past my appointment time which, with how good of a job they do I don't care about the 10 minutes once in a while. I recommend this salon to everybody. I've tried other places a few times since coming here, but it's hardly been even half as good as Joy. 5 stars I'll come here as long as I live in northern va!! I'd been out of the area for the past year, but anytime I was home for a visit I always stopped in for my nail fix!  I'm b.a.c.k. so I'm here to see my favorite tech Danny (who is known as the "Michael Jackson of nails") for an all around experience.  He's nice, funny and will even sweetly sing to you.  As a consumer who is very particular about services, I've never been unhappy with my nails or eyebrows here.  When Danny is not available Tiffany, Lisa or Ming are my go to.  Tiffany is also good for lashes and though I've never sat in her chair for hair services I've seen her slay a blow out!  I also have friends who see them for their Brazilian waxes.Ownership has changed more than once or twice in the several years that I've patronized this business, but when you have a personal favorite... stick with them!  Tech's skill sets will vary, and I empathize with anyone who wastes time or money on crappy services, however this is why I use ONLY referrals from who's work I've seen!  I'm an optimist, but I don't roll the dice on services that I pay for.  You won't go wrong with any of those I've named in this review. I am a regular customer here. The place is neat and clean and better looking than many of the salons I have visited around Ashburn area. I love Ann! She is so patient and does an excellent job. I started with her as my technician about 2 years ago and followed her here when she moved. My entire family is a fan of this place! Highly recommend it. I have been to this salon many times. The techs are very inconsistent. I had Jenny recently, she was great. The next time she was unavailable, the tech literally ruined my nails. I have been getting gel manicures. My nails were perfect. This woman filed my nails so aggressively with a course file, 4/10 nails have cracked down to my finger tip after 2 days. I'm so upset. Really sad to give this place this low of a rating, as this place used to be my favorite in town for a pedi or mani but over the years it changed. Yes, it still is clean and the people are fairly friendly. They have an awesome collection of colors and they just got new pedi chairs I think. My issue is with the service and a general miscommunication.Recently I went in for a pedi and the lady asked if I wanted my toe nails cut shorter, which I obviously did. She cut probably an 8th of an inch off, leaving them fairly long and since I don't get pedis every week, my nails are completely long on my feet now, requiring for me to cut them again. They don't let you soak your feet in the water for more than 5 minutes, even on days when you are the only person in there, almost like they just want to get rid of you.My biggest issue is how they started doing gel nails, depending on who you get. The owner (or at least who I think the owner is) does your nails like he is in a rush, no matter if he is or not. I came in once last summer to find the salon fairly empty and saw his familiar face and decided to get my nails done with him. My gel manicure literally lasted 20 minutes. No hand massaging, no wax, not even cuticle cutting. I kid you not, my nails looked jacked up the next day! And I know, people say you can go in and ask for them to fix it but if they half ass it the first time, will they really want to do it the second time? I avoid this place for manicures specifically because I feel like they just want my money and nothing else. I miss the good ole days here. Read Less

New to the area on a trip and had such a great experience!! The salon is gorgeous, it's HUGE, and they were well equipped to take walk in mani/pedis the entire time I was there. Been here a couple times before, but since the new management took over, the difference really is night and day. The salon looks a lot better and customer service is awesome. So I usually love this place. I always have Lisa or Anna but today was a COMPLETELY different experience. I went in for a mani/pedi and wax and I didn't realize how bad the woman did until I got home. Wax is completely uneven and definitely missed some major spots. Going on vacay tomorrow and need to be in a bathing suit so will have to get this fixed. Then, my left foot had 3 toes with broken nails that she painted over to cover up. I called to see if I could come in and have it fixed and they said I must have messed everything up. Not sure how that's possible especially with a wax. Paid way too much money for the service I received. I hope the owners see this and teach out to me. Would like to tell them about this technician so they don't lose business in the future. Read Less

Really nice establishment! Upon walking in I was greeted by someone and asked what I needed for that day. I made an appointment with my nail technician Lisa, who always knows what she is doing and is the best in the NOVA area. The pedicure seats are new and up to date. You can also watch one of the two large televisions posted on the opposite wall, while you are getting a pedicure. The management team decorated very nicely for Christmas holidays and placed a huge Christmas tree inside the center of the salon. They also have waterfalls and a fish aquarium. Joy Nail and Spa is very nice and clean. The staff is also very friendly & greet each and every one of their customers as they enter. Make sure you give this place a try! Read Less

I didn't even get to try this place out.  Walked in here on a weekday afternoon after my car was finished at the Tire and Auto shop.  No one was at the receptionist desk and it took about 2 minutes before I was greeted by a nail tech.  He just asked what I wanted and I told him a pedi.  I was told by another person doing nails to pick a color.  Then a couple walked in the door while I was looking at colors and a young girl from the back came out, greeted them, and turned on their pedi foot tubs.  I looked around and no one was free to take me.  Everyone was working on another client and not even close to being done...and the couple who came in after me were being helped even though I was there first.  Needless to say, I walked out. I've beeing coming here for the past 3 years and I adored the original owner and so far like the new owner. The place has been completely revamped and its just gorgeous, quite relaxing with all the warm colors and just overall very pleasing to eye. When I moved to Centreville, I thought I might try to find a new place to go, but NOBODY gets my nails right every single time like Danny does. He is so professional and knowledgable about all the work he does and friendly at that. The only negative side is that sometimes you have to wait even when you have an appointment but this is a nail salon, sometimes people don't show and other times they get walk-ins, they can't say no to business. Danny is worth the wait, I get more compliments on how natural my nails look even though I get the gel overlay often enough that my nails are something I'm really proud to show off. Read Less
