After learning there was a a blowout bar in NOVA, I was really excited to try them out. I'm equidistant to either the Ashburn or Reston location, but upon calling and speaking with the super sweet Meena, she recommended two stylists at the Ashburn location. I'm African-American with thick 4b natural hair. The intimidating kind. Meena assured me FLOW would not disappoint! I really liked speaking with her. Fast forward to today. The location is easy to find, with ample outdoor parking. Upon walking in, I was greeted and told my stylist would be with me shortly. There were two other patrons waiting to be seen, and they were sitting on the one bench for seating. So, I awkwardly stood at the door, with my purse and coat in my hand. It would've been nice if the other stylist glancing over at me offered me a place to sit. Oh well, my stylist was on time, and was nice. She asked me if I had any allergies, hair concerns, chemicals, etc... The shampoo was okay, I liked the conditioner, and she didn't burn me with the blowdryer. That alone gets 5 stars! The styling was okay. I told her I wanted it straight, but with some curls. I prefer a little more volume and curl. My roots are mostly straight. Now, going to check out is where it got weird. I asked about the packages, and they mentioned a 10% off for first time customers. Then, the manager said that was for February, and every month they have a different promotion. Okay, no problem. Then she says she's sure there will be a promotion for April. Um, it's the fifth of March. She didn't bother mentioning any promotion for this month. Then, they swipe my card, and I ask to leave a tip. Whoops, she should've asked me before she swiped my card, and can't add it on now. Sorry, about that. Well, I'm sorry for your staff. Lastly, they have a card with loyalty points on it, and I ask to sign up, and the manager nonchalantly just goes, "we're phasing those out." Okay, well then I'm out of here. You obviously aren't looking for regulars here. The manager could've cared less about my business. And the funny things is- I get my hair done every two weeks. So, that's a lot of money in services, treatments, the added $10 flat iron, etc... that FLOW is missing out on. And, I know a lot of African-American professional women looking for a salon out here! But, the search continues. Which is a shame, as I was really excited and hopeful to make this my new salon. Read Less
