I come here to get my haircut and Crystal always does a fantastic job. She gives a nice cut, is professional and super friendly. Crystal gets 5 stars. However, my big complaint and pet peeve is giving inaccurate information. The first appointment I made I used a Groupon so payment was straightforward. When I made my appointment not using a Groupon, they gave me a quote. The day I came in and had my hair done, they charged me more and the receptionist told me the quote I was given was incorrect. Our couples hot stone massages were incredible. I've never felt more relaxed. The only issue I have is my massue was chewing gum, and that's all I could hear. My sister bought me a gift certificate awhile back and I finally got around to using it. I scheduled the 2 hour "Divine Intervention" and had Rafael as my therapist. Before getting started, he explained the treatment in detail so I knew what to expect. I think this treatment normally uses lighter/gentle pressure during the massage, but Rafael asked what my preference was. He adjusted the pressure to the way that I wanted it and took the time to focus on one of my trouble spots (my shoulder). Because he was applying pretty heavy pressure, he continually checked in with me to make sure that it was still ok (and it was!!).This massage was great - there were so many different things going on. Different pressures, hot stones, aromatherapy, reflexology... I have to say that this was one of, if not the best massage I have ever had. This review is for the salon only. While the stylist was very pleasant, when I got home I noticed that the haircut was uneven and not short enough. I went to Amenity Day Spa several years ago with my mother and two of my sisters-in-law for one of my sisters-in-law's birthdays.  (I wasn't a Yelp member then.)  My sisters-in-law got pedicures, my mother and I got manicures, and the manicurist who was doing my nails kept asking about my kids.  I told her I had one living child and asked her about her children.  She then went on to ask me why I only had one child.  Well, she asked so I told her; I responded that my oldest child had been killed and that I had recently had a miscarriage.  She then went on to tell me how awful it was for a child to be an only child and how I needed to give that child siblings.  I think I was in a combination of shock at her audacity, trying to hold back tears, and trying not to ruin my sister-in-law's birthday celebration, plus she was literally holding onto my hands. Hard.  So all I did, through gritted teeth, was reply, "I'm trying."  She then asked me how many children each of my sisters-in-law had.  I told her and she then basically flipped out and started going on LOUDLY about how much skinnier my sisters-in-law were than me even though they each had more children than I did, (even though I told her I had recently been pregnant...not that it would have been ok anyway) and how good they were for providing their children with siblings.In an effort to change the subject after that whole horrible conversation, I asked her if they allow people with plantar's warts to get pedicures, and she said yes, and made it a point to tell me specifically how plantar's warts are NOT contagious.  (When the opposite is true....)  I was originally going to buy a whole bunch of stuff I had seen on the way in and another gift certificate for my sister-in-law when we left, but I bought nothing on the way out.  My mother was footing the bill for this so the woman got tipped anyway (ugh.) because I'm sure none of us wanted to ruin sister-in-law's birthday.   By the way, there were plenty of other people who worked for Amenity Day Spa in the room at the time that this was all happening, and others who were coming in and out and there is no way they didn't hear what this woman was saying, yet no one said anything to her (or me) about how inappropriate she was being. Have been a customer for the past five years.  It's a hidden gem! Service is always excellent and they are very organized and clean. You never feel pressured to buy something or are rushed. Have had facials, massages, and pedicures. They consult with you about your needs and concerns and really listen. Huge plus! Today was not my first time going to Amenity. In fact, it was my to-go place for bikini wax while in the area. However, because today they burned my inner thigh area during waxing I will NOT be going back and I hope people who read this review reconsider their visits there. The person who was waxing me clearly didn't know what she was going or simply had a bad day. Unfortunately, what I thought would be a good experience, turned out to be a nightmare. The pink wax that she used was clearly not at the right temperature and the way she pulled the cloth strip felt SO amateurish and was actually truly painful. She kept apologizing to me like that was going to ease the pain and offered not to charge for the service. However the damage was already done! I had to suggest to her to put a band-aid to cover the area where she pulled my skin so it would not rub with my clothes until I got home. Long story short, I have a horrendous blister now down there and it's painful to move around. Horrendous experience. A "spa" should be a place where people feel relaxed and pain free. We came here for my husbands birthday and we got a couples massage and we both got pedicures.  The receptionist was friendly enough.  When we were led back I immediately detected a damp smell and was offered a drink and selected a mimosa.  The mimosa was not very good and tasted watery but I wasn't expecting it to be very good.  The cleanliness also also left some to be desired like glasses not laying around (when I came and left same glasses) and brushes with hair left on it in communal areas.  The waiting area also left much to be desired as they had one granola bar and nothing else.  The massage was good, the tech actually did deep pressure and the scalp massage was the best I've ever had. The room was nice and clean and the gentleman asked if it was ok to do my scalp and face since I my hair and makeup looked nice.  I've never been asked this before. We also really liked the hot towels they used.  My husband and I get massages for special occasions and this was one pretty good.      However, the pedicure was one of the worst pedicures I have had in my life.  Putting my feet in the water it was so cold.  She didn't offer me anything to drink and didn't tell me the chair turned on.  I found out when I saw the remote when I got up to leave.   The nail tech wore gloves for what I call the wet part which doesn't feel particularly pleasant but understandable.  I would wear gloves if I were giving pedicures too.  However, when it came time to do the actually nail polish and she took them off which I though was odd.  It was so rushed I wasn't able to enjoy it and the massage was a joke. There was some callus scrubbing but it definitely was less than thorough. I asked for my toe nails cut short and square but they were left medium and corners rounded.  She also didn't push the toe separators down so as soon as stood up one of then got messed up.  I have to say the worst part was when I finished I watched her do a quick rinse and then fill up the basin up again.  No scrub or real sanitation. That was so gross! It made me want to sanitize my feet right away.     They tried to put my husband in that basin next and I of course didn't allow it.  I know it's just my husband but it made me worry about how clean it was when I was using it. Is was interesting when the other tech asked if it was clean the tech I had said yes and she scrubbed it out anyways.  I've had spa pedicures before and I'm willing to pay the extra for the expected services but this was worse than the chop shops I went to as a teenager.      When I checked out I let the manager know about the sanitation she apologized and took 20% off.  She said she would correct the problem and seemed to take it seriously.  Still... This spa is the very best of the best..My very first time that I came here was last Friday. When I walked in I was immediately greeted. That is something that I am high up on.I was then taken back to a very beautiful changing room with a place to lock  my stuff up in..and relax with a beverage in the lounging  room until I was taken back to my first appointment, which was a 60 minute massage by Janika. She is wonderful. Best massage ever! After that my next appointment was with Lauren for my facial. She is truly amazing. I have never had a facial like that before. The next appointment that I had after my facial, was the most relaxing pedicure by Kelly. She is awesome!Next my final appointment was my hair by Leslie. She is by far the very best stylest that I have ever found. Her cuts and styling are the bomb! She will even give you an amazing head massage.Please try Amenity Day Spa for your go to Spa. A-Ok.Credit card policy is a little annoying however I've been here a couple times and enjoyed my massages. Waiting room is relaxing, wish they had more of a "spa" experience but it is kind of tucked away in an office space. It's more on the expensive side for what it is, they give you a coupon for your birthday valid for 10% off a service, which I had planned on using but it's only valid for the month of your birthday (which I discovered when I finally had time to use it) for signing up for their annoying emails constantly you'd think they'd let you raincheck the coupon but eh. Not sure if I'll return or just keep looking for a better "spa" massage place. Read Less

It isn't a good sign when you turn to your spouse and say "I sure could use a massage" about 30 minutes after having had one.My husband and I came here for massages.  He was to have a Swedish massage and I was to have a deep tissue massage.  Upon our arrival we were rushed with the greeting, check in and tour.  The receptionist asked if we wanted water and then led us to the relaxation/waiting room so that we could fill out our client info sheet.  Before I could even sit down to start my paperwork I was shuffled to the ladies changing room to change into my robe.  Once I was done changing I went back to the waiting/relaxation room to start on my paperwork.  Once again before I could even sit down the therapists were there to take us to our treatment rooms.  Once we got to the treatment room I told the therapist that I was getting a massage specifically for neck and shoulder tension and that is where I needed the focus to be during my treatment.  Although the therapist used good pressure, he just gave me a plain full body massage, spending hardly any time at all on my neck or shoulders. My husband told his massage therapist that he needed focus on his back during the treatment and he also just got a plain full body massage with hardly any time spent on the requested focus area.At the conclusion of our treatment neither of our therapists asked how the treatment was, they just said "thank you" and left the room.Not only did we feel rushed during our entire time there, the therapists didn't treat the areas of the body we requested.  We won't be coming back here. Went to Amenity after seeing them rated as one of the top spas in a NOVA magazine. Massage was a 90 min lotion application and could hardly be considered a massage. Definately won't be coming back for a massage, however my 90 min facial was impressive and relaxing. The location could be better, as it is in a warehouse type building, but the inside isn't bad. My husband booked my best friend and I massages for my birthday here because he found it on a list of best spas in NOVA. When we pulled up, I wasn't sure what to expect since it is located in an office park, but when we walked in we were immediately greeted and I started to feel like I was in a spa. They took us back and showed us the relaxation room where we could have a drink and relax before our massage. Then they showed us to the locker rooms where we could change into our robes and slippers. It was very nice and felt very peaceful. The massage itself was AMAZING. I've had a lot of massages before and this was one of the best. He listened to what my needs were and applied just enough pressure. I have been to Amenity for a few appointments over the past several months.  The relaxation space is nice, not very big, but comfortable.  They offer you a choice of drinks and there are cereal bars and cookies for snacking.  I agree with a few other comments that the changing room can cause traffic jams although I appreciate the fact that the lockers actually lock.  The robes could be a little bit larger as I am not overly comfortable flashing when I walk into the relaxation area.  The spa is very clean.  I have been to several of the areas including the rest rooms and they are always spotless.There were some other comments about when booking needing to provide a credit card number and I must admit I was surprised when I was asked the first time.  I understand the purpose behind in case you don't show up and they can charge you a fee.   It did not stop me from making an appointment as it was not the only place that has requested this information in advance.  I have had electrolysis with Mandy - she is excellent.  Her area is clean and she is completely knowledgeable of the equipment.  She is friendly and kind.I had a facial today with Reed. I asked for the basic 60 minute facial as I was just not sure of the other choices.   OMG is all I can say!  My skin feels fantastic and Reed is a master in her field.  She checked my skin and made some suggestions, but I truly appreciate the fact that she never tried to sell me any products.   I have been to other places where I felt like it was truly a sales job.   I also love the fact that during this 60 minutes, I also had my feet, legs and arms massaged.   WOW!  I will definitely be back to try some of the other services. Received a gift card for my birthday, but when I tried to make an appt I was told I had to give them my credit card number to hold the spot.   I find that completely ridiculous.  I was trying to get a pedicure, not make reservations for a bridal party or large group, nor was it for an expensive service.   I feel like this "spa" located in an office park thinks it's in downtown LA or New York City.    They were rude, and I refused to back down, so I'm donating the gift card rather than patronizing such a pathetic, money hungry "spa".   There are many other choices in Loudoun County.  I will be happy to take my business elsewhere. This was a four star review, but unfortunately I decided to remove a positive review and this is why: I have gone to Amenity Day Spa many times and overall I think it was a great spa with professional staff, except for the manager- Arlene (sp). In my previous review, I praised the services (again- I gave the place 4 stars!)  and at end of my write-up,  I made a mention of an incident with a gift card I experienced at the checkout. It did not matter who was right or wrong. I just described the incident. Believe it or not, the manager of the spa matched my profile name with their customer database and called me on the phone and wanted to discuss my review!!! She insisted that I was wrong, wanting to prove to me, etc...I felt I was confronted about an honest review and what's more- my privacy was violated. I did not leave my phone number in the review. For the business to go and dig in their customer records and call the customer out on a review is unacceptable. If they wanted to make contact with me they should have emailed me through yelp.com.I feel what happened to me is an example of an awful business practice and needless to say-I will not be going back.Below is a comment from the owner of the store responding to my original review. I've been here three times, all for massages with Raphael (sp?).  The spa itself is nice, but really all I care about is if I get a great massage in a clean, relaxing environment.  So many massage therapists seem as if they are giving massages "by the book."  Raphael seems very passionate about his work and imparts a very healing energy that can't be taught in massage school.  I walk out of there feeling so much better than when I walked in.  My last massage was a Mother to Be massage and the pillow setup couldn't have made me any more comfortable.  And I look forward to using their toilet with the heated seats.  This place is on the pricier side or else I would have given it 5 stars.  If it were a bit more affordable I'd come a lot more often. I do like their heated toilet seats - after having a massage it's nice a nice touch :)The changing room is rather tight but they have plenty of robes, towels, slippers and you can bring in your tea or wine glass. The relaxation room is kept dark the way it should be. I've always had a great massage - usually from Raphael. I have been to this spa a handful of times, so I'll base this review on my most recent experience. I visited for a "Ladies Night" which was a casual event with drink, snacks and some vendors. The treatments were short but sweet (I had a great neck massage with Rafael). If I go for another "Ladies Night" I will bring a friend, schedule more treatments and plan to take advantage of the drinks and casual atmosphere.  The score is well deserved because I think this event is a really neat idea to bring people in and try new treatments with very little financial commitment. I had a little scheduling issue but the co-owner (or maybe owner) fixed it in about 5 seconds and exceeded my expectations. Unrelated to Ladies Night, I agree with other commenters that the tipping policy is terrible and the changing room and calming room are sub-par ... but the treatments have all been great so I keep going back. I went to Amenity for a massage and facial. Since it can be a bit tricky to find, once you get into the shopping center off Ashburn Village Road, head towards the Bank of America. Right after Homegoods, take the next right. Amenity will be right in front of you at the end of the parking lot.  When I came in, I was offered a drink such as water, champagne or wine and was shown to the locker room. The locker room was tiny with 2 changing stalls. I was there on a Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't busy. Although I understand the relaxation area is co-ed, there weren't any men when I was there.  I'm not super excited about the co-ed relaxation area, so it does make me a little hesitant to go back. The other downside were tips which can't go on a credit card. I've never had that experience at any other spa. When talking to the front desk staff about it, they told me some people get really upset...and I understand why. It is unusual, and if you don't come prepared with cash it can be quite embarrassing and short change the therapists. And the girls up front wouldn't even take the tip envelope but directed me to a box by the door to stuff the envelopes in. Either the owners have been screwed over before, or are extremely distrustful I don't know. I had a 75 minute massage and a hydration facial. Both were great so I have no complaints there. I probably waited about 1/2 hour between treatments which was fine because I was pretty much by myself most of the time in the relaxation area. Overall, this was nice, but I wasn't blown away. I'm on the hunt for the perfect spa in Loudoun. I wish I could combine aspects of the Lansdowne spa with Amenity. Neither is quite perfect on their own, but both are good.I recently had a massage, facial, and brow wax at Amenity. I was a little annoyed by the changing area - stalls in a locker-room like room, where there was a bit of a traffic jam. I didn't love that the 'relaxation room' being co-ed, but maybe I'm old fashioned. I also would have preferred the robes be a bit larger so I felt more comfortable lounging in said room. I echo complaints about not being able to add tips on a credit card, particularly when they have no ATM. Let's be honest - that only screws over their employees and that's not cool.So that's all my complaints - why three stars? Because despite the above, I really enjoyed my services. Suzanne gave me a great massage. I may have fallen asleep at some point. I definitely felt relaxed, wished it had been twice as long. Kim did my facial and did a very good job of explaining what she was doing without trying to sell product. I do wish I could combine the quality of the massage and the facial with the atmosphere of Lansdowne, with its hot tub/sauna/steam room/relaxation room. If I wanted a massage and just a massage, I'd pick Amenity. If I wanted a day of spa treatments and lounging, I'd be pretty tempted by Lansdowne's set up. Read Less
