Definitely went in at a busy time. I don’t mind waiting but every time a spot would open up at the manicure table (I will as there for just a manicure) they would seat someone from the pedicure. When I stood up to leave after waiting 30 minutes they said someone was coming right then - there were still no open seats so I am sure they were just trying to stall so I wouldn’t leave. I had somewhere to be an hour and couldn’t continue to hope I’d get a chance to be sat at that point. I will try again and update on the service then.. but for now. I’m not impressed. Read Less

Love this place! Went for the first time today, and had an AMAZING experience. The staff are kind and helpful. The place is cozy. I love that they give you refreshments too. I really wanted to love this place. I went in for a mani-pedi and people were very friendly. I enjoyed my mani- pedi but when they were done they wrapped my pedicure in cellophane wrap and told me to put my boots on and when I got home my polish was ruined. I recently discovered this nail salon in my neighborhood and the entire experience was wonderful. I called on a Saturday afternoon and was able to book an appointment 30 minutes later for a mani-pedi. The mani-pedi was executed flawlessly. They even brought out snacks and drinks. I've been here twice, both times I've got a good manicure and pedicure. But the 2nd time has made me unsure if I'll return. 2 issues:1. Cell phone use. This is a very small salon and both times I've been in, there have been woman holding extensive personal conversations for the duration of their service - one was politics and the other a full blown business call. It's impossible to ignore and beyond rude. Now most women are well mannered enough to know not to do this, but for those who don't, many salons I've been to have signs asking for no cell phone use. Please - put up the sign or ask your client to limit their call for the consideration of literally everyone else! 2. After finishing my pedicure on the 2nd visit, they asked if I wanted to pay before my manicure - no problem. But thanks to pregnancy brain I realized I left my wallet in my car. I explained, and told them where I was parked (around the corner) but since I had the paper flip flops on and didn't want to ruin my pedicure by putting on my sneakers I asked if we could just finish and dry and I'd go and get it. My technician rushed like crazy through my manicure and plopped me at the dry station. This salon is unique because they provide a short shoulder massage while you dry but they chose not to give me one. Then they took my phone and said I'd get it back when I paid. I felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable - has no one ever forgotten their wallet before? The only reason I didn't get it immediately was because my nails were wet. It was a simple mistake easily rectified and giving me less than the standard service and holding my phone was definitely overkill and makes me unsure if I can go back. Read Less

This place does a great job and treats its customers well. The biggest issue is timing. If you have an appointment at 4 pm, you have to wait until 420 to get serviced. Appointments don't mean anything. There are times where they will accept you as a walk in and then, they will stop working on you and work on someone else. Ask you to leave and come back later but then make you wait 20 mins. This is a big drawback and keeps happening multiple times. If you have time to spare then, this is the place for you. Yeah...that was my feeling exactly after my first visit to Starlight Nails.  And it wasn't just the meticulous gel manicure and the perfect pedicure that did the trick; it was the personal and detailed service that set this shop apart from many others in the area.  The owner, Jenny, 'gets' customer service.  The moment I walked in, she greeted me with a smile, took my coat, helped me remove my boots and prompted me to take a seat, hot water already running (I made a mid-afternoon appointment through Yelp).  And before the nail technician started pampering my feet, I had a plate of cookies, a chocolate, and a hot tea on my arm chair.  Service.Jenny herself took care of my gel manicure, and did a meticulous job, all the while giving me a rundown of how she became owner of the shop.  Once my nails were dry, she gave me a surprise shoulder massage.  Again...service!Overall I paid $65 for my gel manicure ($35) and regular pedicure ($30). I stop by Starlight regularly for manicures and the occasional polish change. For the OPI Shine polish collection, expect a $2 surcharge. OPI Shine polish is about 3x more expensive than regular lacquer so I felt the up charge was justified. The ladies at the salon are always very welcoming and friendly. Starlight Nails is attached to Randolph Towers, and the entrance is adjacent to the apartment's main entrance. If you live in Ballston/ Virginia Square area, it is very conveniently located.I found this place on Yelp, and requested for an appointment on Yelp. The y responded within the hour, and I was able to schedule an appointment to the date and time I had requested. My appointment was around 7pm on a weekday, and there were couple of other customers already there at the store. I had a regular manicure and chose the colors I had wanted right when I walked in. I also wanted a specific style/design, and Ms. Jenny, the owner, was able to accommodate to my needs. She's very nice and friendly. They also give you hand and shoulder massages with manicures.The service at Starlight Nails was great overall. I felt very comfortable and welcomed from the time I walked in to the time I left. They also provide complimentary snacks and teas throughout the service, which is always a plus. They also provide nail fix-ups for free if the nail art cracks or gets messed up. I really love this place, think they do an awesome, quality job on nails. I get the SNS dip- which not a lot of places have, and they last for a full month at a reasonable price! I wouldn't give it above a 3 though because they have scheduling and timing issues. I have been a few times now and every time I've had to either come back in 30 mins or wait 20-30 on the salon beyond when my appointment time was. I decided to visit since the place is a couple of blocks from my place. I came for a regular pedicure. Pros: You get a Japanese cookie, chocolate and a drink, I asked for a hot tea. I came with no appointment on a Tuesday ay 4P and didn't have to wait. Cons: The nail technician was very dispersed and not really concentrated on my nails. She also cut my nails in a very odd shape. I discovered this place on yelp. I'm a big yelper and take reviews very seriously so I had to check out a place with 5 stars. I tried other places for comparison and immediately regretted it. If you want to be treated like family...come to Starlight.The customer service is exceptional! Everyone greets you with a smile as you walk through the door. You're  offered a cookie or cracker, candy and a drink. The ladies are very friendly and talk to you during the process. A pedicure  ends with a hot towel and stone foot massage, and the manicure a back massage. I wish I could give these ladies 5+ stars! They were the most welcoming staff, being a first time guest it's a little overwhelming at first but not here. Even gave us a little treat and a drink of choice to enjoy during the service, how sweet! They explained the price breakdowns -- which is very reasonable! ($80 full gel set) They have so many different color options too, some colors I've never seen!! The pedicure was top notch, full rub down with hot stones -- super relaxing! I have been getting my nails done for many years, and from many cities - we are a military family so we move around a lot. I can honestly say that the service that I received here is none like I have ever experienced. Jenny is amazing! The absolute sweetest and all about customer service. She's so sweet, very welcoming, and just a good-to-the-bones type of gal. I got my nails done by Young. She was extremely careful, and dare I say it, a perfectionist! She gives amazing massages and constantly, carefully checked her work to make sure that my nails came out perfectly. My friend and I got pedicures here somewhat last-minute recently. The employees were really nice and accommodating. They offered us water and snacks. The pedicure was as expected. Pricing was pretty comparable to other places nearby. It's just that the location is really tiny. I think there were 3-4 nail stations and 4 pedicure massage chairs all in a pretty small space.Convenience-wise, yes, I would return because it's super close to my place. But given the option, I'm more likely to go to another location with comparable service, skill, and price merely because it would feel a bit more spacious. From the second I walked in I really felt the love.  The ladies here took care of me, listened to me, and made my experience memorable.  Not only that but the service and care was so above and beyond anything I've experienced in the last year years:  I can truly say this is the best full set I've had in YEARS.  I received tips, gel overlay, OPI color and topcoat.  Jenny and Kate took excellent care of me and made me feel at home, offered me something to drink and had a nice chat w me about various things without sounding forced.  It was pricey but definitely worth it in my opinion.  I'll certainly be back! I am completely and thoroughly impressed.  Let's start with the beautiful warm smile of Jenny welcoming you. They have a real nice selection of colors that's not all junked up and messy. The chairs for the pedicure are great!  I appreciate they don't use a cheese grater on your feet. The sugar scrub massage is just enough, then the hot towels is always nice, then some wonderful lotion, then OMG the hot stone massage, this is just SUBLIME!  I had the new nail system put on my nails tbis time (sns) it feels amazingly light and it doesn't feels thick like gel , and the best part when Jenny got to the last application and there's a one minute dry time (not under a light) she massaged my shoulders and neck for a few minutes. Simply put -- the most thorough, detailed gel manicure I have ever gotten!!! The best!I walked in on my lunch break from my internship after scrolling through reviews and hearing about Jenny. Lo and behold, Jenny took me right at the front, helped me pick between two reds, and gave me the best experience I could have asked for. I was offered a variety of drinks and she brought over complimentary crackers and chocolate! The best part -- she even made sure the color and top coat went right to the edge and each side of my nail bed. I hate when technicians miss the sides, but every single one of my nails looks PERFECT. I will admit, $35 for a gel manicure is a bit pricey, but I definitely don't regret my purchase after the experience and services I was given. Jenny makes it worth it! It's not often I have a memorable experience at a nail salon -- especially in Northern Virginia. The staff here was not only professional, but so very friendly. I got a pedicure and gel manicure here. The service was excellent, with hot tea and crackers to greet you as you come in. Though there were many walk-ins, I felt that all the employees were really efficient in what they were doing - from pedicures to manicures, eyebrow waxing, etc. and we're very attentive. I knew Jenny, the owner, when she used to do my nails at a location in Falls Church. She was so professional and sweet and did the best nail job I had any where else. I would go there for a nail job and will walk out if Jenny was not there. I have had my nails done by her for few years now and I was very excited when I learned that Jenny has her own store.I have already been to this salon few times now and satisfied with the quality of work and friendliness I've experienced from all the staff. Jenny did my nails each time but Kara helped her out the last time I was there. Kara gave me a great massage.It is a cozy, little, beautiful and clean place where you get your nails done, get a massage or a wax while listening to a relaxing music and drinking a complimentary beverage. This is the nail joint formerly known as I Heart You Nails, now under new management by a lovely lady named Jenny. I had a super excellent pedicure there - they were really detail oriented and it included a lovely foot massage and hot stone massage! Further bonus round - they have some soda pops and their massage chairs are pretty nice!And, Jenny told me about a great rewards program they started where you get some money off after a certain number of purchases and a free thing on your birthday! I forget the details but I signed up :)Finally, Jenny gave me a free preview neck and shoulders massage and it was super nice! Really really poorly done french. I do it way better myself with my left hand that I got it done there. Plus the way they filed the nails on the sides caused them to caught on clothes, and if I didn`t have the nail file on me to smooth them, it eventually caused them to break. Really unhappy! Excellent service and customer satisfaction. Only suggestion would be to get a better drying station for nails. It is sensor operated and only stays on if you are constantly moving. Please invest in a better machine to increase rating. Other than that, superb job!! I love it here! Read Less
