I had an appointment on 9/18 for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. After two days I noticed my nails were not polished properly and you could still see my nails under the polish . I call the shop on 9/22 was told to come in on 9/23 at 11amfor a repair. Instead of removing the polish they polished over the already polished nails and cured it under the light twice. Around 4pm I notice one of my nails stating to peel. I return to the shop and I'm greeted by this older Asian man ... I'll assume he's the manager/owner. I asked if I could get all my nails re-done because now this is my third visit. He starts to question me as to why I want All my nails redone and not just the one nail. I explain bc I want to make sure it's done properly and I don't have to come back a fourth time because my nails were never done properly in the first place. After the second time he asked why do I want All my nails done OVER. I say to him I am not going to be you for a service. Then he say LOOK I SAID I WILL DO BUT YOU NEED A APPOINTMENT BC WE BUST NOW! SO I SIMPLY SAT SIR I HAVE CHURCH TOMORROW SO WHAT TIME SHOULD I COME. THEN HE REPEATS I GIVE YOU AN APPOINTMENT FOR 4PM,AN HOUR BEFORE THEY CLOSE. I SIMPLY SAY FORGET ABOUT BC THE OWNER/MANAGER WHO'S NAME I don't even know wasn't happy about proving me a service that wasn't done right in the beginning and after I spent $97 on my initial appointment. I just decide to leave... This salon is in walking distance from my house less than 5 minutes. Oh and I forgot to mention I've patronized this business at least 5 times before with no problem. FOR THE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RESPECT FOR MY MONEY I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS NAIL SALON. I HONESTY FEEL, IF I WERE A WHITE WOMAN I WOULD'VE BEEN ACCOMADTED. There is definitely a catch 22 to saying how much I love this salon--I want everyone to know what a great experience I've had but once the word gets out, it will be booked all the time! Seriously, the price may seem a little higher than other salon choices nearby, but the experience is SO worth it. Between the really emollient creams, the mini massage on a mani/pedi and the time dedicated to each service, I feel like a totally pampered princess when I'm done. I highly recommend this spot! I can't say enough about Pureluxe. Having recently moved to the area, I was in dire need of a good nail shop. I've had rather interesting experiences in the past with nail shops (as I'm sure most of us have), and I appreciate a great shop when I find one. I found these guys through Yelp, and all the reviewers are on point.It is a tiny but more expensive, compared to some of the other shops in the area, (like $5 or so for most hand services), but their array of pedicure and spa services are great too. I've had the exfoliating pedi, and I don't regret a single penny. Almost a month later, and my toes still have 60% of the polish on them (I'm lazy with pedis, don't judge me ^_^).But it's really the gel fill ins that keep me coming back. The other shops I've visited averaged $37 for a fill, and these folks are $40...but I happily pay it because Angeline makes sure my gel doesn't chip, my nails don't break and they always look great, even 2 weeks after my fill.If you're looking for a high-quality, clean shop, with consistent work, that won't take up your entire day....try Pureluxe. This place is new on Walter Reed. I waited until last minute to get a mani/pedi for a wedding trip I was taking to Mexico, and despite having to work late I managed to be seen here close to closing. Actually, I felt a little bad, because I didn't finish until after they'd technically already closed... They worked on my feet and hands simultaneously. I opted for gel mani/pedi and a sugar scrub. It all felt marvelous. The staff was very friendly, offering tea or water. I'm not good at small talk, but they didn't press me or make me feel like I had to force conversation. Sometimes, I'll go to a salon and get a polish change, instead of a full manicure (either there or at home). I use it to rate a salon and see if it's worth returning for more services. After getting a polish change at PureLuxe, I won't be returning. I walked in to PureLuxe and asked for a polish change. The staff looked confused. At that point, I should've walked out. They finally figured it out, and I was asked to choose a color. Their color selection is boring as hell. If you must go here, bring your own. My tech couldn't file my nails correctly (not sure what's so hard about a square shape). The fans didn't even feel like they were on in the dryer. Then, three nails chipped the next day, and one broke the day after. If they can't even handle a polish change, I will not be trusting them with a more in-depth service. Read Less
