I will no longer go to this nail salon. I don’t know if they got new management recently or something, but today was it. Their receptionist has no clue what’s going on and is completely unprofessional. The nail technician did a poor job — they look fine from a distance, but have a ton of flaws, and she cut me when she was talking to another technician and wasn’t looking. To top it all off, they charged me more than my visit just two weeks ago, based on a pamphlet they have hidden behind the counter that has different prices than the pamphlet on display and after they had to figure the price out amongst themselves for several minutes. First time visitor. She did a fine job on my toes but the service was not fantastic. There was no sign of prices. There are little menus next to each pedicure station but if you're new they don't stick out. She only told me what it was once I asked. Apparently you also get a complimentary drink that was never offered to me. The facility was relatively clean but I ddint see the come out of a sealed bag. I needed to get my gel polish removed and wanted a regular manicure. The technician assigned to me never actually acknowledged me, spent the entire time seemingly laughing at me or other customers, and, after she grabbed my hands and put them in front of a fan, literally ran to the door with another technician and left to get food (the woman who checked my out told me).I ended up asking to skip a color polish on the mani and simply got a clear coat because I wanted to leave.While she was working on my nails, the other technicians were eating sunflower seeds off the nail counter and cracking them with polish bottles--it looked unsanitary and the sound of them chomping on seeds was off-putting. There were also dirty towels all over the place.I will try the nail salon across from Costco or make a point to get them done in the city after work before coming here again. Read Less

Wish this place was a little better for the price. Some of the technicians do a great job, others are just in a hurry to get you to leave. Today, I had to request my complimentary drink after my appointment and was not told of an additional charge for a matte top coat. The manager was accommodating and removed the additional fee, but the technician was not friendly and did a mediocre job at best on a simple gel manicure. Tammy, that's all that needs to be said. If you have your nails pampered by her you will never want anyone else to touch them. She's patient and the most gentle yet very thorough of them all. I've been coming on as off for about 2 yrs since moving to the area. Service has been consistent, I've been to several techs and some are better than others but I've never had a "bad" experience. I always get very basic  services...gel mani and reg pedi, nothing fancy, no deigns or anything like that so I can't attest to the artistic side of their service. I live across the street from this location and after almost 2 years, I never stopped in until recently. I wanted to test them out before my wedding, so I knew I was happy with them and would have a good mani/pedi for the big day. Coincidentally, this was also my first pedi since moving to Arlington almost 2 years ago. I have been just going to my usual spot in Pittsburgh every time I go back to visit, but I figured it was time I now pick a new spot here. I was a walk-in on a weekday (not Friday but I don't remember the exact day) afternoon and was immediately tended to by staff. There were only a few other customers at the time, so after I chose my color, I was quickly ushered to a pedicure chair. The female nail tech was very professional, and while she didn't talk to me except to make sure the water was comfortable (which is fine-I'm not the best at small talk anyways), she was kind and assisted me with moving from the chair to the drying area and offered me water to drink at the start of the visit. She also seemed pretty thorough in her sanitary habits with her equipment, so of course I appreciated that. The polish job came out great, and I enjoyed the extra-long massage of my calves and feet. The only thing I wish she would have been more thorough on was using the pumice stone and scalper for longer on my feet. It had been over a month since my last pedicure and I definitely could have used more scraping. While not a fault of the nail tech, the chair's massage function is the worst I have experienced and does not get any spots well. The chairs are comfy though. $35 is pretty standard (both here and in Pittsburgh which shocked me a little) for a pedicure, so I was happy with the price. Fist of all I don't know if those ppl are qualify to do nails. I go to Red door spas but always drove by this place it looked nice so I decided to try it.I wanted pedicure the guy I had didn't even file my toes only one or two and then he just ignore the rest. he went straight to cutting my cuticles after he was done he wanted to scrub my feet i ask if he is gonna actually push my cuticles he ask if I wanted him to !! Ahhh Yes and that's is normally what comes before cutting the anyways. Then he took a small block of pumice and just did twice all over I asked him i that was it (not to mention that pumice stuff does not work ) I stop and I told her to just do the polish change bc I couldn't take such a crappy service. I know Red door pedicures are pricy but believe me u paying for quality and an hr perfect pedicure.I will just get Polish change In places like that.The lady next to me was also getting pedicure and the technician cut her twice she was so mad as well.They do not train their stuff and the price of 35$ is for Crappy pedi with cheap equipment. Some of the staff are amazing. Some are just mediocre at best. The prices are a tiny bit steep if you get one of the amazing technicians, but miserably over priced if you get a poor one. Yes, the staff is friendly. I was a walk-in (as I could not get with my my normal nail tech, Iluiia at the Red Door around the corner) There were lots of great colors from popular brands to chose from. So my gel mani was $41....and I normally pay $48) Yes, i am fine with the manicure. *However* I could not keep myself from getting appalled by current state! The nail bar is nice and modern, check out the pics. But I could not get over all the dirty towels everywhere. I should have taken pictures, but as you know, I was getting a manicure.  Of course once you notice one thing, you see and notice all the other things that make you shudder. I watched a individual using a pair cuticle nippers readjust the the individual points of the callous remover --looks like a cheese grater. Employees casually lounging in unoccupied station right next to customers.If you need a mani/pedi because of time constraints it is an option because you only this one hour in your schedule. I come here regularly for a gel manicure and occasional pedicure. Today's service was so phenomenal it was worth writing a review. Ryan was my technician today and he was amazing. He was great fun to talk with and knew his stuff. For example I got a white polish on my nails and was concerned about lines showing through. Ryan suggested we take a look after the second coat dries to make sure it's not too thick but also that no lines are showing through either. He kept the wine coming which I wasn't complaining about either.I should also mention that the receptionist was super helpful and friendly as well. She was well-spoken, friendly, and very helpful. My reservation was for a $24 regular French manicure. I inadvertently received a poorly done and poorly shaped $44 gel manicure. When they insisted I pay for a gel manicure I refused. They then informed me that I will to have to return to have the gel removed or file each nail down myself and soak it in acetone. NOT what I wanted, NOT what I signed up for. A little pricey in my opinion, but it's Pentagon City and all I really care about is a good CLEAN job. All of the tools and work areas were nice and sanitized, and my nail tech was friendly and did a good job. A lot of the polishes did seem a bit old/used, so if I ever came back I would bring my own color. Read Less

LeAnn is a magician!  She is just soooo good doing mani/pedi, gel, eyebrows, you name it!!!! She has the highest attention to details and really takes her time with you! I am personally the most particular person EVER when it comes to my nails. If you have problems with ingrown toe nails, she will take care of that too. I highly recommend!! $16 for a polish change$30 for gel polish change $39 for gel maniI think the rest speaks for itself. They looked me over, oddly. Everything was spoken in half whispers. Everyone gawked. No one knew pricing, touted some sort of combo etc. but each staff member I spoke with had to go back to the manager from what should be general knowledge at a nail bar. Left without any service because for an empty nail bar over the holidays - I waiting 10mins to find out outrageous prices. What a shame, I was looking for a new home salon! I had a great experience here! I was a walk-in on a Friday night and they were able to fit me in within a few minutes, even though there were lots of other ladies getting their nails done at the time. I was offered a glass of water upon my arrival, which was much appreciated. I liked the "nail bar" set-up as the central focus of the salon. I believe my technician was Mary and even though we couldn't communicate well, I thought she was friendly and did a good job. She even helped me with my things when my nails were done and I moved to the drying area. I'm not sure what the going rate is for a regular mani at the other salons in the area, but I think it's reasonable here. The one time I paid very little ($12) for a manicure at a different salon, I was really unhappy with the cleanliness of the salon, so I don't mind paying a little extra to get a better overall experience. I might still try other salons in the area to do some comparisons before I designate a salon as "my" salon but I think this will be a good contender. Read Less

A food girlfriend invited me to join her at Metropolitan on a whim. Considering its location I figured it would be at least a clean salon with decent techs. But to my pleasant surprise it was a very plush, modern nail salon! They have a very good selection of nail polishes.  I loves that they dont nickle and dime you for choosing higher-end polishes as some salons do. What is even better is that most of the tech speak very good English which makes communication very easy. Definitely recommend this salon if you are in the area. Downside: Because its in Pentagon Row, you have to pay for parking. No getting around that. Read Less
