This place has the absolute worst customer service. I’ve never been treated so badly. EVER.
I was a regular customer. I used to take my friends and siblings with me all the time (that’s how much I praised this place). That was until my experience yesterday. I took my sister-in-law with me to get our manicures done. As the lady (Nikki) started my gel manicure, I began to have a bad feeling as she wasn’t doing a good job cleaning around my nails. I literally had to point out every missed spot...she even skipped some nails. I was extremely patient but that was just the beginning of a terrible experience.
As she was finishing up, she started to cut around the gel until one of the nails started to peel off. I noticed that the gel was peeling off and pointed it out to her. I also pointed out that there was gel on my skin around my nails and if that will be fixed. She said that was the final look but apologized about the nail peeling and blamed it on the quality of the nail polish. Her solution was to peel the gel off (which she did and destroyed my perfectly healthy nails in the process) and reapply another color. I explained that I can’t stay another 40 minutes to have another color reapplied (I have a baby at home).
I went home with destroyed nails and cuts around my nails. One finger was bleeding by the time I got home. Today another finger hurts, the entire area around my nail is extremely irritated and starting to swell.
I explained all of this to the manager, and they offered absolutely nothing for my inconvenience and troubles. She continued to say “we rectified the problem by removing the gel nail polish” and that “we did not charge you for the service today” as if they did me a favor. I was better off with my healthy nails.
I’m extremely disappoinred and was so hurt. I’ve been trying to go there for the past two weeks but I’m a new mom so it was a struggle to leave my baby at home. The fact that I finally got to go and was treated so badly is truly upsetting. I’m beyond disappointed in your service.
The manager is EXTREMELY rude and I just cannot believe she is left to deal with customer service issues as she offered no help at all.

I have heard so many great things about this place. The nail tech told me my dipping powder nails would last 3 weeks. They didn't even last a week!!!!! Extremely disappointed. Go somewhere else!!!

Employees talk to one another quietly on a radio, so not the typical loud activity of coordinating mani / pedis with all of the staff. Only four stars because it is a bit expensive.

The staff was friendly and very helpful. When we sat down, they offered us with drinks so we had some water and soda while getting a pedicure. We only did pedicure so I still yet have to try the other services. The service was great and the massage chairs are very comfortable. I wished they offered wine though because I searched mimosa nail salon and this popped up but there was no mimosa? I was a bit disappointed but it was too late haha. Overall good, and would come back again!

I stopped in for a quick gel manicure on Friday evening after calling to check how busy they were. When I called, I was told there were two spaces at their "nail bar" open but those would be first come first serve unless I wanted to make a reservation. I elected to not, but nice to hear they take them! Seemed that several people on the sign in sheet make reservations: Particularly those who have a specific technician they see regularly. I walked in a bit later and there was immediately a space for me, but at the time it looked like I got the last one. The nail stations are set up like a bar, with all the technicians sitting in the inside facing out. The salon has tons and tons of colors! They have regular polish, gel -Essie, opi and more, and SNS. Several people were getting that treatment when I was in.The manicure itself was good. My technician, Nikki, was very friendly and spoke with me during my manicure. She was also able to find my color by the name - I always try to remember the names of colors I've had and liked. After sitting for a bit, I was offered tea or soda. It was a nice gesture and most patrons take them up on it.After my manicure, which Nikki was impeccable in giving, I was offered a brief neck massage. Not too much, but enjoyable. I was in and out in a pretty quick amount of time, but didn't feel like I was rushed. They close at 7:30pm on Friday so ample time after work to get in and get fixed up for the weekend. The manicure was $40, although looks like they have a discount to check in before. Bring cash!!! As most places they want cash tips - they don't give you the option to tip on card, so bring cash or use their atm in salon.

I was searching for new places to get my nails done since my usual place is always overcrowded and not relaxing. Came to Aura and can say I will never return to my old place. Aura was so calm, efficient, and easy. I got an acrylic refill and my nails look great. They offered me a shoulder massage and a complimentary drink as soon as I sat down. I have also never had a place give me a hand massage with acrylic but I loved it! They also showed me the coat closet and ATM in the back (can only tip in cash). Very clean facility, super friendly staff, and other guests were also very nice. My new go-to to get my nails done from now on!

Tried SNS for the first time with Lina. They came out great. I've been on the hunt for a new nail tech since moving to Arlington and I think she may be the one. She took the time to explain SNS and all of the benefits. She also was patience and listened to how I wanted my nails done. SNS can be a bit thick when applied and since I have very raised nail beds, my nails need to be filed down more than normal once the powder is on. She paid attention to detail, offered drinks multiple times, and provided a neck massage while they dried. They charge an extra $5 if you have anything other than SNS on your nails for removal. So when I return for an SNS "refill" it would only be 50 and an extra 10 if I want a manicure. Refill is just their term. It's really a whole new set. Expensive I agree but honestly I've been so disappointed with my last manis In Arlington that I believe it's worth it.

I thought my manicurist did a great job! My only note is that I didn't know it was cash only tip (I looked and didn't see one but on checking out I saw it very small, framed in a corner. It was blocked by someone checking out when I came in.) I really hate when salons do this because i think it's unfair to the employees. Also, if you do I think they should tell you up front or have multiple signs. Otherwise great place!

Aura has been my go-to nail salon for the past year. The salon is clean and modern, and the staff is very friendly! I'm super meticulous when it comes to my nails and I can confidently say that this is the BEST place that I've ever visited (having grown up here, I've been to many). Clean lines, even shape, and quick. They're well seasoned in SNS and they have a wide selection of colors. I went today and they had just gotten 10 new spring colors to add to their growing collection of 100+ others. It's a little pricier than some other salons ($50 for an SNS mani), but well worth it. Pay them a visit - you won't be disappointed!

I was pleasantly surprised by Aura. After my nail salon closed a couple of months ago I have tried others in the area and haven't found any I've liked but I saw the reviews and decided to walk a little further away from the plethora of salons near my apartment and was rewarded for it. I called ahead to see if they had a gel mani and pedi slot and they were able to fit me in 15 mins later. My tech did a beautiful job on my toes and my nails, with great massages. They have a great gel color choice and the largest SNS color selection i have seen. I would go back in a heart beat.

This place was packed when I randomly ventured through the door on a Sunday afternoon. I was greeted promptly and told there would be a 10-minute wait for my SNS manicure. (In the future, I would definitely make a reservation for my services in case they are ridiculously busy.)There is an ENTIRE WALL full of colors for SNS (dipping powder) and gel/shellac. Hands down this is the best selection of colors I've seen at ANY nail salon in the entire DC metro area. My nails were filed and wrapped with acetone to strip my current color. Also, I was offered a beverage (water, Coke products, ginger or green tea). While waiting I perused the hundreds of available colors. (And by the way, they don't just display the colors and then tell you that they don't have it once you've spent forever deciding on the perfect one. They actually have all of the colors in stock that are on display.Once I chose my color, Thuy (pronounced Too-ee) hurried through my service. At first I was a little taken aback because I hate when the technician goes really fast and my nails look a hot mess. However, Thuy was friendly, detailed, and gentle yet perfectly firm when needed (i.e. with the massage she gave during my manicure). It was, by far, the fastest SNS service I've ever had. 37 minutes. Yes, I timed it. Since this will last for 3 weeks, I am ecstatic.FYI, there's an ATM in the back (with only a $2 charge) if you need to take out cash for services or tips (tips are only accepted in cash). I paid $50 ($5 more than my regular nail salon) but it took half the time.

After trying several different nail salons in Arlington, I have settled on Aura Day Spa. Pros:- They have the biggest selection of SNS polish I have ever seen. - Plenty of complementary drink options. - Essentially every nail tech I've tried has above average skills. - They make appointments and are generally on time. Cons:- I ALWAYS feel rushed. ALWAYS. Now let me be clear, I am an easy customer. I generally don't get the full manicure (water bath for your hands/cuticle cut), and will opt out of any excessive touching (hand/neck/back massage they offer). Literally all I ask for is that you don't rush through my manicure and let me preview multiple colors (they will dip the plastic tips in the SNS powder so you can see what the color will actually look like). I have yet to find a nail tech who will accommodate these simple pleasures. It's literally taken me months of visits to find a color that I think I really like because I always feel like my tech is itching to get started and put out by having to sample colors for me. I mean Jesus Christ, what is the problem?!!! And then there's the constant rushing I make an appointment for a reason. Is it so hard to have an hour of undivided attention? And I mean I'm talking one time my tech forgot to put on the base powder because apparently there was a race to get me out of there. Overall, obviously I keep coming back... but it would be nice to have some customer loyalty on their end.

She was also respectful and considerate of the fact that I kind of needed it done fast because I had to go back to work.I felt awful because I forgot to ask if they take tips in cash, and they don't. No ATM nearby. They seemed to be understanding though, and I plan to return on Saturday with the tip, I promise.Mimosa Salon in DC is still my fave (because champagne), but this seems like a quality Arlington alternative!

Love this place! It is downstairs from my apartment so it's super convenient. But, more importantly, the service here is fantastic! Every nail tech is super friendly. Sydney, the person who works as the receptionist, knows my name and knows how I ALWAYS get the same thing...same pedicure, same color on my SNS nails. When I got a different pedicure and color the other day, she told me that she was proud of me for trying something new! For pedicures, it is more expensive but I always get the Happy Hour or Peppermint pedicures. It costs $65 but you get at least a 45 minute massage on your calves and feet and for me, it's worth it to pay the extra amount for a more relaxing experience. Seriously, I almost always end up taking a small nap while they are massaging my legs.

Totally impressed, satisfied, and excited! I I tried SNS for the first time after reading other reviews, and I'm hooked. It's the longevity of gel without the harsh chemicals or smells of acrylic. I got subtle tips (extension of nail) and it looked amazing. The spa is so clean and well-cared for. I observed employees cleaning while I was there, and they have lots of happy technicians, enough to manage an afternoon rush I was part of. The best part about this spa is that all the employees speak good to excellent English! I heard customers explaining that they wanted an ombre nail on their pinky, and the technician recommended a good shade for the transition. I was able to get a more personalized service because they understand exactly what I was looking for. This is going to be my regular spot from now on. 5 stars!

This yelp review is strictly for they gel manicure (not sns). I came in specifically for the $35/gel manicure yelp coupon and I so wished I had gone to my regular nail place because they did such a bad job on my nails. I had a younger nail specialist who specifically told me she had more experience in coloring the nails than giving manicures, I should have changed ladies right there. I asked her to make my nails a little bit point on the edges but square on top, like the new style is, and she would point one side and leave the other square, then she shorten my nails so much that they kept cracking as she was filing them. My gel manicure lasted me 3 days before I had a nail break off and snap. Now I have to trim them all :( so sad. Not only did she lie about being good on color, but I had to keep asking her to paint the edge of my nails because she kept leaving it off. Finally, after applying 2 coats, and a top coat, she then wants to add a third layer on top of the top coat to finish off the sides she failed to do. A total of 5 coats were applied on my nails. I don't know why this girl was given the chance to do nails. She should stick to doing other things she's best at and not upset employees with very bad gel manicures. Lastly, I was extremely disappointed in the colors they had for gel manicures. If you are going to call yourself a spa, make sure you have everything not just concentrate in SNS. I heard they have like 100 colors, yet in gel, I was lucky if I had 12 OPI gel options. For $36 at my regular nail spot, I get a full manicure, paraffin wax treatment, a nice massage and a great gel manicure that lasts 2+ weeks. This place does not include anything for $35, just a bad gel manicure that lasts a week if that. I will not be returning for gel nor do I recommend anyone coming in for gel. Extremely disappointed and upset over my manicure!!!

Aura Day spa offers a variety of colors. I was very satisfied with my tiramisu OPI gel nails and pompeii purple gel pedicure. The nails have chipped a couple weeks in but the pedicure is going strong. Also, if you like ginger, I highly recommend their ginger tea! FYI If you check in, there is a $5 off coupon for their gels. Look forward to going back when I splurge on another mani or pedi!

I have been coming to Aura Day Spa close to two years now. They are a full service nail salon that does waxing and massage as well. The staff is stellar! Tina, is the principal proprietor and one of the nicest and most professional people that you will meet. The staff, and I mean, each and every one of them have been trained by her and it shows. Of course, you will tend to have a preference for who you want to perform a service but each time I go, I'm open to whomever is available - (due to time constraints) and quite frankly, I've not been disappointed. Ever! My daughter lives in NYC and when she found out that Aura did SNS, she nearly passed out, apparently, this product and technique is hard to find in even The Big Apple! They custom blend nail colors and if you are indecisive like my daughter can be and will make recommendations based on your description, mag photo or site pulled up on your phone that will really set your mind at ease!Side note: Whenever my daughter comes into town, the first thing she starts talking about is that she needs her nails done...I know what that means - Aura Day Spa time!They have a great menu of pedicure spa treatments I usually go for the works - Footlogix and my feet feel soft like a baby's *** when they are done! The spa chairs are comfortable and clean. I am a loyal customer, and when I walk in everyone knows me, they ask about things we spoke of the last time and always inquire when my daughter is coming back. The first time that I went with a good friend, I was THAT girl amused like a little kid in a candy shop when I saw every one dipping their fingers in the powders (aka SNS) and obviously was curious. Something about the amused look on my face eventually sparked conversations with practically every one that was getting their nails done with SNS, while I getting the standard gel manicure. Basically I was convinced and sold on giving the SNS manicure the next visit.Fast forward, yesterday I just got the SNS manicure with my same friend as the previous visit and we are OBSESSED!! I see what the hype is all about now. Highly recommend paying more for SNS manicure ($55). Steep, I know but totally worth every dollar! Thanks to my manicurist, Lina, for being completely patient with me as I had the hardest time selecting a color (they have at least 100 SNS color options - no joke).P.S. Highly recommend getting the ginger tea, like everyone has previously recommended in the reviews. It's complimentary! :)

I've been meaning to write reviews for Aura for awhile and am unfortunately just now getting around to it. This place is a gem for so many reasons. First, it's CLEAN. I think cleanliness should be a priority of any nail salon these days and Aura hits this right on the mark. This nail salon feels totally immaculate every time I go in. I've never had to wonder about whether or not things are being taken care of or cleaned.Their customer service is amazing. Tina is fabulous. I cannot recommend her enough and definitely encourage anyone, especially a first timer, to book with Tina. That being said, I've seen a ton of the ladies here and they are all wonderful. They are skilled and very nice and do an amazing job. Aura also offers something that I've never seen anywhere else and that is the SNS manicure. This is a great technique that is an alternative to gel. It lasts longer, looks better, is more durable, and doesn't involve UV lights. I've been getting SNS for a few months and couldn't be happier. The technique involves dipping your nails in a powder rather than using a gel liquid. If you google SNS you can find some videos that explain it. This is such a great alternative to acrylics or gel and I recommend anyone who gets their nails done regularly check it out.Overall a great salon with wonderful employees, a good offering of services, and great customer service. They also offer you drinks and have an amazing ginger tea. Definitely try to the tea if you stop in! I've been going to nail salons for 15 years and I can say without a doubt that Aura Spa is the best I've ever been to.

I ended up making an appt anyhow.The young lady at the front desk, was pleasant, and called me by name upon arrival. Similar to others experiences on here, I was told about the Yelp discount, and was shown to where I could pick out my nail color (s). I loved my pedi the best so nice, but so was my mani :)The place is quite, clean, and doesn't smell toxic! The music is calm and "spa like", there are no loud conversations being had across the room between staff. Other costumers seemed relaxed and well taken care of. If I ever want my nails done again, this is "my place" Fyi- I think only cash tip though! I'll be back at some point :)

I've finally found a great nail spa! Really clean, trendy, and staff is very nice. My friend actually recommended this place to me and I finally decided to check it out. Their prices are a bit on the higher side but well worth as they do a fantastic job. I had the green tea spa pedicure with Cece for $60 which includes a callus remover and paraffin treatment. I had my SNS manicure done by Tommy. SNS is $55 plus $10 for the manicure. It's actually better for your nails as you don't have to use a UV light and can last anywhere between 2-4 weeks depending on the person. Both Tommy and Cece did an amazing job. I was very happy with how it all came out. I would definitely recommend this place and come back!

I arrived and was assisted in picking a fresh spring / summer gel manicure and pedicure color! Was offered something to drink and was able to relax while doing a little work on my phone! Both my manicure and pedicure came out great and was able to use the coupon from Yelp for $35 gel mani --- plus when combining with the pedicure a extra 5% They put my name in the system and the colors I chose for this appointment so that next time I come back I'll know in case I want to 1. I figured it was just normal to feel "meh" about your nails because technicians are only human and "fake nails" could never turn out perfect without sitting there for 5 hours annoying the hell out of them fixing each nail. Just something that you do for special occasions but wasn't worth the money to do regularly..WELL.. Aura Day Spa has turned me into a regular/frequent nail salon patron!!I am super picky & OCD about the shape of my nails, and Tina never disappoints. She is very meticulous and is an EXPERT at what she does. She'll sit & shape/adjust every single nail for me so they are exactly the way I want them (round this corner out more, make this corner lower, etc). She's even mixed & created her own shade of SNS for me, because I didn't like how the standard color came out. Before Aura Day Spa, I had no idea what SNS was. Now I will not go anywhere else - especially since a lot of other nail salons in the area will tell you they do SNS, but don't actually do the proper technique (like will finish with a gel polish - which is not part of the process). SNS has changed my life lol because I am a nail biter and could never get my nails to grow. Acrylics were always too heavy/thick feeling and I end up peeling them off. SNS is so sturdy and light, I can barely feel them.Go to Aura & ask for Tina! :)

I called to see if Aura Day Spa could give me a polish change and cut my nails down. I was told to come in and was greeted with big smiles at the door. My nail tech was Sarah and I explained to her what I wanted done. Sarah was so sweet and pleasant and suggested another technique that would ensure a great look that would last for a few weeks. I felt very comfortable with her because she was so warm and friendly and did not judge the look of my nails. Sarah also asked if I would like my eyebrows done, mind you they looked as though two caterpillars settled on my face but when she was done, they were amazing! I was impressed that she took her time and transformed me into a new women. If you are looking for a new salon, please give Aura a try and ask for Sarah. All I can say is she is an angel from heaven!

Prior to coming to Aura Day Spa, I've gotten SNS for about two years. It's popular in Texas, when I moved to the DMV area, I didn't find SNS anywhere, so I found a place that did good gel nails. I began working in Arlington, found this place and got excited! Tried it out 2 times, and don't think I'll be coming back :/ The nail salon is spacious and very clean, which I loved. The man working is there is amazing and makes sure you feel right at home. If they offer you anything to drink, get the ginger tea, ITS AMAZING. The first time I came, I asked for Tina. All the Yelp reviews suggested her for SNS, so I wanted her. Well even though I made an appointment with Tina, she assured me that all the people were trained by her and are great, so suggested I went with them. I did as she said, and went with another technician. I liked the lady I had, she wasn't bad at all, but I definitely wasn't blown away. After paying 65 for the SNS set and Mani...I expected to be blown away. I also got a pedicure, so I walked out spending 95 dollars. I'm a big fan of the saying, you pay for what you get. If I pay 95 dollars for my nails...I expect them to blow me way. After that, I decided hey, let's give it another try. Made an appointment for 4:45, just to get my SNS redone. Again, the guy at the front...amazing. They wrapped my nails promptly, but didn't actually get started on my nails until 5:30...I thought that was a little too long. Other people that came after me had nail techs with them already. I found it strange that no one came to thank me for waiting or assure me that someone would get to me. People were leaving before I did, that came after me. I came at 4:45, didn't leave u too 6:30, and all I got was SNS on my hands. You would think I'd be happy with nails, but again just isn't 65 dollars worth. Overall, beautiful nail salon, nice people, just not happy with my nails for the amount of money paid.

Aura Day Spa is definitely the best nail salon in the Virginia Square/Ballston area... by a long shot! It's pristine inside, with modern and new decorations, comfortable chairs, and sleek white/grey/orange color scheme. Everyone is very friendly and they have water/tea/soda for you to sip on. I got a gel manicure and my technician, Philip, was awesome! I usually have only ever seen females do nails so I was surprised, but he had such attention to detail and didn't overcut my cuticles (which I hate at other places). I also love that rather than having you choose your gel color from bottles, they have nail swatches to hold up to your fingers so you can see how the gel colors will look once dried and how they match with your skin tone. It's a tad more expensive than some of the other less nice nail areas in the area, but I'm definitely only coming here from now on! You get what you pay for!

This place has the absolute worst customer service. I’ve never been treated so badly. EVER.
I was a regular customer. I used to take my friends and siblings with me all the time (that’s how much I praised this place). That was until my experience yesterday. I took my sister-in-law with me to get our manicures done. As the lady (Nikki) started my gel manicure, I began to have a bad feeling as she wasn’t doing a good job cleaning around my nails. I literally had to point out every missed spot...she even skipped some nails. I was extremely patient but that was just the beginning of a terrible experience.
As she was finishing up, she started to cut around the gel until one of the nails started to peel off. I noticed that the gel was peeling off and pointed it out to her. I also pointed out that there was gel on my skin around my nails and if that will be fixed. She said that was the final look but apologized about the nail peeling and blamed it on the quality of the nail polish. Her solution was to peel the gel off (which she did and destroyed my perfectly healthy nails in the process) and reapply another color. I explained that I can’t stay another 40 minutes to have another color reapplied (I have a baby at home).
I went home with destroyed nails and cuts around my nails. One finger was bleeding by the time I got home. Today another finger hurts, the entire area around my nail is extremely irritated and starting to swell.
I explained all of this to the manager, and they offered absolutely nothing for my inconvenience and troubles. She continued to say “we rectified the problem by removing the gel nail polish” and that “we did not charge you for the service today” as if they did me a favor. I was better off with my healthy nails.
I’m extremely disappoinred and was so hurt. I’ve been trying to go there for the past two weeks but I’m a new mom so it was a struggle to leave my baby at home. The fact that I finally got to go and was treated so badly is truly upsetting. I’m beyond disappointed in your service.
The manager is EXTREMELY rude and I just cannot believe she is left to deal with customer service issues as she offered no help at all.

The staff was friendly and very helpful. When we sat down, they offered us with drinks so we had some water and soda while getting a pedicure. We only did pedicure so I still yet have to try the other services. The service was great and the massage chairs are very comfortable. I wished they offered wine though because I searched mimosa nail salon and this popped up but there was no mimosa? I was a bit disappointed but it was too late haha. Overall good, and would come back again!

I stopped in for a quick gel manicure on Friday evening after calling to check how busy they were. When I called, I was told there were two spaces at their "nail bar" open but those would be first come first serve unless I wanted to make a reservation. I elected to not, but nice to hear they take them! Seemed that several people on the sign in sheet make reservations: Particularly those who have a specific technician they see regularly. I walked in a bit later and there was immediately a space for me, but at the time it looked like I got the last one. The nail stations are set up like a bar, with all the technicians sitting in the inside facing out. The salon has tons and tons of colors! They have regular polish, gel -Essie, opi and more, and SNS. Several people were getting that treatment when I was in.The manicure itself was good. My technician, Nikki, was very friendly and spoke with me during my manicure. She was also able to find my color by the name - I always try to remember the names of colors I've had and liked. After sitting for a bit, I was offered tea or soda. It was a nice gesture and most patrons take them up on it.After my manicure, which Nikki was impeccable in giving, I was offered a brief neck massage. Not too much, but enjoyable. I was in and out in a pretty quick amount of time, but didn't feel like I was rushed. They close at 7:30pm on Friday so ample time after work to get in and get fixed up for the weekend. The manicure was $40, although looks like they have a discount to check in before. Bring cash!!! As most places they want cash tips - they don't give you the option to tip on card, so bring cash or use their atm in salon.

Aura was so calm, efficient, and easy. I got an acrylic refill and my nails look great. They offered me a shoulder massage and a complimentary drink as soon as I sat down. I have also never had a place give me a hand massage with acrylic but I loved it! They also showed me the coat closet and ATM in the back (can only tip in cash). Very clean facility, super friendly staff, and other guests were also very nice. My new go-to to get my nails done from now on!

Tried SNS for the first time with Lina. They came out great. I've been on the hunt for a new nail tech since moving to Arlington and I think she may be the one. She took the time to explain SNS and all of the benefits. She also was patience and listened to how I wanted my nails done. SNS can be a bit thick when applied and since I have very raised nail beds, my nails need to be filed down more than normal once the powder is on. She paid attention to detail, offered drinks multiple times, and provided a neck massage while they dried. They charge an extra $5 if you have anything other than SNS on your nails for removal. So when I return for an SNS "refill" it would only be 50 and an extra 10 if I want a manicure. Refill is just their term. It's really a whole new set. Expensive I agree but honestly I've been so disappointed with my last manis In Arlington that I believe it's worth it.

I thought my manicurist did a great job! My only note is that I didn't know it was cash only tip (I looked and didn't see one but on checking out I saw it very small, framed in a corner. It was blocked by someone checking out when I came in.) I really hate when salons do this because i think it's unfair to the employees. Also, if you do I think they should tell you up front or have multiple signs. Otherwise great place!

Aura has been my go-to nail salon for the past year. The salon is clean and modern, and the staff is very friendly! I'm super meticulous when it comes to my nails and I can confidently say that this is the BEST place that I've ever visited (having grown up here, I've been to many). Clean lines, even shape, and quick. They're well seasoned in SNS and they have a wide selection of colors. I went today and they had just gotten 10 new spring colors to add to their growing collection of 100+ others. It's a little pricier than some other salons ($50 for an SNS mani), but well worth it. Pay them a visit - you won't be disappointed!

I was pleasantly surprised by Aura. After my nail salon closed a couple of months ago I have tried others in the area and haven't found any I've liked but I saw the reviews and decided to walk a little further away from the plethora of salons near my apartment and was rewarded for it. I called ahead to see if they had a gel mani and pedi slot and they were able to fit me in 15 mins later. My tech did a beautiful job on my toes and my nails, with great massages. They have a great gel color choice and the largest SNS color selection i have seen. I would go back in a heart beat.

This place was packed when I randomly ventured through the door on a Sunday afternoon. I was greeted promptly and told there would be a 10-minute wait for my SNS manicure. (In the future, I would definitely make a reservation for my services in case they are ridiculously busy.)There is an ENTIRE WALL full of colors for SNS (dipping powder) and gel/shellac. Hands down this is the best selection of colors I've seen at ANY nail salon in the entire DC metro area. My nails were filed and wrapped with acetone to strip my current color. Also, I was offered a beverage (water, Coke products, ginger or green tea). While waiting I perused the hundreds of available colors. (And by the way, they don't just display the colors and then tell you that they don't have it once you've spent forever deciding on the perfect one. They actually have all of the colors in stock that are on display.Once I chose my color, Thuy (pronounced Too-ee) hurried through my service. At first I was a little taken aback because I hate when the technician goes really fast and my nails look a hot mess. However, Thuy was friendly, detailed, and gentle yet perfectly firm when needed (i.e. with the massage she gave during my manicure). It was, by far, the fastest SNS service I've ever had. 37 minutes. Yes, I timed it. Since this will last for 3 weeks, I am ecstatic.FYI, there's an ATM in the back (with only a $2 charge) if you need to take out cash for services or tips (tips are only accepted in cash). I paid $50 ($5 more than my regular nail salon) but it took half the time.

After trying several different nail salons in Arlington, I have settled on Aura Day Spa. Pros:- They have the biggest selection of SNS polish I have ever seen. - Plenty of complementary drink options. - Essentially every nail tech I've tried has above average skills. - They make appointments and are generally on time. Cons:- I ALWAYS feel rushed. ALWAYS. Now let me be clear, I am an easy customer. I generally don't get the full manicure (water bath for your hands/cuticle cut), and will opt out of any excessive touching (hand/neck/back massage they offer). Literally all I ask for is that you don't rush through my manicure and let me preview multiple colors (they will dip the plastic tips in the SNS powder so you can see what the color will actually look like). I have yet to find a nail tech who will accommodate these simple pleasures. It's literally taken me months of visits to find a color that I think I really like because I always feel like my tech is itching to get started and put out by having to sample colors for me. I mean Jesus Christ, what is the problem?!!! And then there's the constant rushing I make an appointment for a reason. Is it so hard to have an hour of undivided attention? And I mean I'm talking one time my tech forgot to put on the base powder because apparently there was a race to get me out of there. Overall, obviously I keep coming back... but it would be nice to have some customer loyalty on their end.

Checked this place out on my lunch break for a gel mani because it was (kind of?) by my office. Service was prompt, polite and Nina paid great attention to detail. She was also respectful and considerate of the fact that I kind of needed it done fast because I had to go back to work.I felt awful because I forgot to ask if they take tips in cash, and they don't. No ATM nearby. They seemed to be understanding though, and I plan to return on Saturday with the tip, I promise.Mimosa Salon in DC is still my fave (because champagne), but this seems like a quality Arlington alternative!

There was no talking about "how wasted I got" between the workers and no dog running around. I was in a closed door room and was made very comfortable. Love this place! It is downstairs from my apartment so it's super convenient. But, more importantly, the service here is fantastic! Every nail tech is super friendly. Sydney, the person who works as the receptionist, knows my name and knows how I ALWAYS get the same thing...same pedicure, same color on my SNS nails. When I got a different pedicure and color the other day, she told me that she was proud of me for trying something new! For pedicures, it is more expensive but I always get the Happy Hour or Peppermint pedicures. It costs $65 but you get at least a 45 minute massage on your calves and feet and for me, it's worth it to pay the extra amount for a more relaxing experience. Seriously, I almost always end up taking a small nap while they are massaging my legs.

They have a full wall of SNS nail colors, no UV light andddddd they last four weeks. Calming music. Great pedi chairs. Oh and their ginger tea is fresh and tasty!

Totally impressed, satisfied, and excited! I I tried SNS for the first time after reading other reviews, and I'm hooked. It's the longevity of gel without the harsh chemicals or smells of acrylic. I got subtle tips (extension of nail) and it looked amazing. The spa is so clean and well-cared for. I observed employees cleaning while I was there, and they have lots of happy technicians, enough to manage an afternoon rush I was part of. The best part about this spa is that all the employees speak good to excellent English! I heard customers explaining that they wanted an ombre nail on their pinky, and the technician recommended a good shade for the transition. I was able to get a more personalized service because they understand exactly what I was looking for. This is going to be my regular spot from now on. 5 stars!

They do an awesome job on SNS, my nails lasted for three weeks. Also, a simple pedicure is only 30 dollars. That's so inexpensive! I am extremely happy I found this place!

This yelp review is strictly for they gel manicure (not sns). I came in specifically for the $35/gel manicure yelp coupon and I so wished I had gone to my regular nail place because they did such a bad job on my nails. I had a younger nail specialist who specifically told me she had more experience in coloring the nails than giving manicures, I should have changed ladies right there. I asked her to make my nails a little bit point on the edges but square on top, like the new style is, and she would point one side and leave the other square, then she shorten my nails so much that they kept cracking as she was filing them. My gel manicure lasted me 3 days before I had a nail break off and snap. Now I have to trim them all :( so sad. Not only did she lie about being good on color, but I had to keep asking her to paint the edge of my nails because she kept leaving it off. Finally, after applying 2 coats, and a top coat, she then wants to add a third layer on top of the top coat to finish off the sides she failed to do. A total of 5 coats were applied on my nails. I don't know why this girl was given the chance to do nails. She should stick to doing other things she's best at and not upset employees with very bad gel manicures. Lastly, I was extremely disappointed in the colors they had for gel manicures. If you are going to call yourself a spa, make sure you have everything not just concentrate in SNS. I heard they have like 100 colors, yet in gel, I was lucky if I had 12 OPI gel options. For $36 at my regular nail spot, I get a full manicure, paraffin wax treatment, a nice massage and a great gel manicure that lasts 2+ weeks. This place does not include anything for $35, just a bad gel manicure that lasts a week if that. I will not be returning for gel nor do I recommend anyone coming in for gel. Extremely disappointed and upset over my manicure!!!

Aura Day spa has the best mani/pedi I've ever had. They have impeccable service and are polite and friendly! Their attention to detail in both the manicure and pedicure was impressive. Aura Day spa offers a variety of colors. I was very satisfied with my tiramisu OPI gel nails and pompeii purple gel pedicure. The nails have chipped a couple weeks in but the pedicure is going strong. Also, if you like ginger, I highly recommend their ginger tea! FYI If you check in, there is a $5 off coupon for their gels. Look forward to going back when I splurge on another mani or pedi!

I have been coming to Aura Day Spa close to two years now. They are a full service nail salon that does waxing and massage as well. The staff is stellar! Tina, is the principal proprietor and one of the nicest and most professional people that you will meet. The staff, and I mean, each and every one of them have been trained by her and it shows. Of course, you will tend to have a preference for who you want to perform a service but each time I go, I'm open to whomever is available - (due to time constraints) and quite frankly, I've not been disappointed. Ever! My daughter lives in NYC and when she found out that Aura did SNS, she nearly passed out, apparently, this product and technique is hard to find in even The Big Apple! They custom blend nail colors and if you are indecisive like my daughter can be and will make recommendations based on your description, mag photo or site pulled up on your phone that will really set your mind at ease!Side note: Whenever my daughter comes into town, the first thing she starts talking about is that she needs her nails done...I know what that means - Aura Day Spa time!They have a great menu of pedicure spa treatments I usually go for the works - Footlogix and my feet feel soft like a baby's *** when they are done! The spa chairs are comfortable and clean. I am a loyal customer, and when I walk in everyone knows me, they ask about things we spoke of the last time and always inquire when my daughter is coming back. It's a special feeling to feel appreciated and valued for your patronage and one (aside from the amazing care they put into their craft) that keeps me coming back week after week for two years now. Hands down one of the best nail salons I have been in the DMV area! Not gonna lie I've been to quite a handful of nail salons since moving to the area 5 years ago, but every single of the employees there are incredibly nice and patient. The first time that I went with a good friend, I was THAT girl amused like a little kid in a candy shop when I saw every one dipping their fingers in the powders (aka SNS) and obviously was curious. Something about the amused look on my face eventually sparked conversations with practically every one that was getting their nails done with SNS, while I getting the standard gel manicure. Basically I was convinced and sold on giving the SNS manicure the next visit.Fast forward, yesterday I just got the SNS manicure with my same friend as the previous visit and we are OBSESSED!! I see what the hype is all about now. Highly recommend paying more for SNS manicure ($55). Steep, I know but totally worth every dollar! Thanks to my manicurist, Lina, for being completely patient with me as I had the hardest time selecting a color (they have at least 100 SNS color options - no joke).P.S. Highly recommend getting the ginger tea, like everyone has previously recommended in the reviews. It's complimentary! :)

I've been meaning to write reviews for Aura for awhile and am unfortunately just now getting around to it. This place is a gem for so many reasons. First, it's CLEAN. I think cleanliness should be a priority of any nail salon these days and Aura hits this right on the mark. This nail salon feels totally immaculate every time I go in. I've never had to wonder about whether or not things are being taken care of or cleaned.Their customer service is amazing. Tina is fabulous. I cannot recommend her enough and definitely encourage anyone, especially a first timer, to book with Tina. That being said, I've seen a ton of the ladies here and they are all wonderful. They are skilled and very nice and do an amazing job. Aura also offers something that I've never seen anywhere else and that is the SNS manicure. This is a great technique that is an alternative to gel. It lasts longer, looks better, is more durable, and doesn't involve UV lights. I've been getting SNS for a few months and couldn't be happier. The technique involves dipping your nails in a powder rather than using a gel liquid. If you google SNS you can find some videos that explain it. This is such a great alternative to acrylics or gel and I recommend anyone who gets their nails done regularly check it out.Overall a great salon with wonderful employees, a good offering of services, and great customer service. They also offer you drinks and have an amazing ginger tea. Definitely try to the tea if you stop in! I've been going to nail salons for 15 years and I can say without a doubt that Aura Spa is the best I've ever been to.

I ended up making an appt anyhow.The young lady at the front desk, was pleasant, and called me by name upon arrival. Similar to others experiences on here, I was told about the Yelp discount, and was shown to where I could pick out my nail color (s). I loved my pedi the best so nice, but so was my mani :)The place is quite, clean, and doesn't smell toxic! The music is calm and "spa like", there are no loud conversations being had across the room between staff. Other costumers seemed relaxed and well taken care of. If I ever want my nails done again, this is "my place" Fyi- I think only cash tip though! I'll be back at some point :)

I've finally found a great nail spa! Really clean, trendy, and staff is very nice. My friend actually recommended this place to me and I finally decided to check it out. Their prices are a bit on the higher side but well worth as they do a fantastic job. I had the green tea spa pedicure with Cece for $60 which includes a callus remover and paraffin treatment. I had my SNS manicure done by Tommy. SNS is $55 plus $10 for the manicure. It's actually better for your nails as you don't have to use a UV light and can last anywhere between 2-4 weeks depending on the person. Both Tommy and Cece did an amazing job. I was very happy with how it all came out. I would definitely recommend this place and come back!

I'm new to the area and after seeing the reviews from google I decided to call to make an appointment!They mentioned to check in on Yelp for there was a promotion running which was dope! I arrived and was assisted in picking a fresh spring / summer gel manicure and pedicure color! Was offered something to drink and was able to relax while doing a little work on my phone! Both my manicure and pedicure came out great and was able to use the coupon from Yelp for $35 gel mani --- plus when combining with the pedicure a extra 5% They put my name in the system and the colors I chose for this appointment so that next time I come back I'll know in case I want to 1. Do the same colors or 2. Try something new! I'll definitely be back especially for CeCe! She's amazing! Thank you Aura Day Spa for your excellent customer service!

Aura Day Spa is awesome!!I have never recommended another salon before, because I've never been 100% satisfied with the results. I figured it was just normal to feel "meh" about your nails because technicians are only human and "fake nails" could never turn out perfect without sitting there for 5 hours annoying the hell out of them fixing each nail. Just something that you do for special occasions but wasn't worth the money to do regularly..WELL.. Aura Day Spa has turned me into a regular/frequent nail salon patron!!I am super picky & OCD about the shape of my nails, and Tina never disappoints. She is very meticulous and is an EXPERT at what she does. She'll sit & shape/adjust every single nail for me so they are exactly the way I want them (round this corner out more, make this corner lower, etc). She's even mixed & created her own shade of SNS for me, because I didn't like how the standard color came out. Before Aura Day Spa, I had no idea what SNS was. Now I will not go anywhere else - especially since a lot of other nail salons in the area will tell you they do SNS, but don't actually do the proper technique (like will finish with a gel polish - which is not part of the process). SNS has changed my life lol because I am a nail biter and could never get my nails to grow. Acrylics were always too heavy/thick feeling and I end up peeling them off. SNS is so sturdy and light, I can barely feel them.Go to Aura & ask for Tina! :)

I called to see if Aura Day Spa could give me a polish change and cut my nails down. I was told to come in and was greeted with big smiles at the door. My nail tech was Sarah and I explained to her what I wanted done. Sarah was so sweet and pleasant and suggested another technique that would ensure a great look that would last for a few weeks. I felt very comfortable with her because she was so warm and friendly and did not judge the look of my nails. Sarah also asked if I would like my eyebrows done, mind you they looked as though two caterpillars settled on my face but when she was done, they were amazing! I was impressed that she took her time and transformed me into a new women. If you are looking for a new salon, please give Aura a try and ask for Sarah. All I can say is she is an angel from heaven!

I began working in Arlington, found this place and got excited! Tried it out 2 times, and don't think I'll be coming back :/ The nail salon is spacious and very clean, which I loved. The man working is there is amazing and makes sure you feel right at home. If they offer you anything to drink, get the ginger tea, ITS AMAZING. The first time I came, I asked for Tina. All the Yelp reviews suggested her for SNS, so I wanted her. Well even though I made an appointment with Tina, she assured me that all the people were trained by her and are great, so suggested I went with them. I did as she said, and went with another technician. I liked the lady I had, she wasn't bad at all, but I definitely wasn't blown away. After paying 65 for the SNS set and Mani...I expected to be blown away. I also got a pedicure, so I walked out spending 95 dollars. I'm a big fan of the saying, you pay for what you get. If I pay 95 dollars for my nails...I expect them to blow me way. After that, I decided hey, let's give it another try. Made an appointment for 4:45, just to get my SNS redone. Again, the guy at the front...amazing. They wrapped my nails promptly, but didn't actually get started on my nails until 5:30...I thought that was a little too long. Other people that came after me had nail techs with them already. I found it strange that no one came to thank me for waiting or assure me that someone would get to me. People were leaving before I did, that came after me. I came at 4:45, didn't leave u too 6:30, and all I got was SNS on my hands. You would think I'd be happy with nails, but again just isn't 65 dollars worth. Overall, beautiful nail salon, nice people, just not happy with my nails for the amount of money paid.

Aura Day Spa is definitely the best nail salon in the Virginia Square/Ballston area... by a long shot! It's pristine inside, with modern and new decorations, comfortable chairs, and sleek white/grey/orange color scheme. Everyone is very friendly and they have water/tea/soda for you to sip on. I got a gel manicure and my technician, Philip, was awesome! I usually have only ever seen females do nails so I was surprised, but he had such attention to detail and didn't overcut my cuticles (which I hate at other places). I also love that rather than having you choose your gel color from bottles, they have nail swatches to hold up to your fingers so you can see how the gel colors will look once dried and how they match with your skin tone. It's a tad more expensive than some of the other less nice nail areas in the area, but I'm definitely only coming here from now on! You get what you pay for!
