I went here for usual nail treatment and honestly the guy in the front was very hostile about which kind of nail I wanted to get and kept pushing towards the most expensive (SNS) even though I kept saying I didn't want that. I got a pedicure and I'm used to getting a nice massage with it (like most salons) but apparently that's not part of the regular pedicure and it only comes with the more expensive predicate treatment (like the chocolate or green tea on). The absolute worst pedicure/massage I've ever wasted money on. The nail technician was clearly not trained or certified. I asked for the extra 15 min massage / reflexology for an additional  $25. I expressed multiple times that he was using no pressure and that it was not reflexology. He never acknowledged or attempted to make a change in effort. My daughter and I have been going to this shop for about 4 months. We've only had SNS nails done, so this review would only be about that service. The shop is clean and we are always greeted warmly. They have tons of colors to choose from. We typically have Lei or Andy do our nails and both technicians are friendly and skilled. Was new to the area and trying to find a good nail salon for pedicures, but was horrified by my experience here. To begin, the spa pedicure was super rough and hard on my feet. When I explained to the lady helping me that I wanted acrylic on my big toes, she argued with me for 5 minutes that I really didn't want that, I wanted something else like gel or this new process they were usijf. She eventually gave in and brought someone else over to do them. She filed my nail really crooked and it looked awful. I asked if she'd fix it before doing the acrylic, but as she filed down she kept filing on the short side to the point my toe started bleeding. Every time I tried to explain that it hurt and needed to be filed down on the other side she just kept filing where my toe was bleeding. Finally another lady came up to try and figure out why I was almost crying and she tried to fix it. She went ahead and put on the acrylic even though the nail still wasn't straight. By the time I walked out, my foot was in so much pain I was almost in tears. As I was paying they told me that if I wanted to tip, it would be easier if I gave them smaller bills so they could more easily tip all the ladies that helped me. Not likely.Lisa worked on my nails (manicure and pedicure).  She was quick and it shows.  There is still nail polish on my toes next to my nails.  She drew blood from my cuticle while plowing through my left hand.  And there is still areas that need attention around my nails.  I did not make a big deal about her ripping my cuticle to the point of bleeding, hell - I didn't even say a word.  I wanted to see how she would handle it.  She tried to cover it up by starting with that finger with every new process (rinsing, drying, disinfecting).After I pay I give the person working on my nails a tip in cash.  Lisa had gone into the break room and told the receptionist she wasn't coming out when I asked.  I left the tip with the receptionist.The place seemed typical with drying stations instead of that long drying table.  They seemed to have a big SNS and color selection.  At every step I was asked if I wanted more expensive services.  If you're not into the hard sale maybe skip this place.Also, if you're not into bleeding or feeling like your tip doesn't matter - skip this place. So ive been coming to color nails since i was 16 now im 23. I love the work cindy does with my nails. But im so disappointed with them. Ive had issues with them but i have just ignored them. But the last experience just made me decide that im never going to go back and also told my sister and mom who get there sns and pedicures done on a regular basis. Before when they weren't as busy they were very nice but now since they get more customers they just rush. I got married this year 2017 in april. I always go to cindy i made my appointment for sns and pedicure and wax for lip eyebrow and chin. I also take my mother, two sisters, aunt, step daughter, and niece to get there nails done. Most of service was sns and pedicure (good money for them). We all where there at once my family with other technicians. When my daughter sister and niece where done, they of course where waiting inside the nail salon for us to be finished. The owner comes by and tells them to move because other customers where coming in. Like really, so rude we giving you more then 500.00 just my family. Appreciate! Thats wasn't it, i get my nails done and i never got told that for my shape its 5$ more, weird thing is that every time i went i always got the same service but price always changed. I was upset because they had never told me. Plus it was my wedding and i brought you money and no consideration at all. No customer service here. I let that go its what ever. I myself that day spent around 250.00 for sns pedicure and eyebrows and lip. But the last thing that got me very upset, and honestly i never do reviews. But i hope these people (owner and technicians) see this so they can change. Get some training in customer service and show exactly on there price menu the correct prices. I went to get lip and eyebrow wax, they where busy. The receptionist told me to wait around 15 minutes. Im like ok ill wait but 30 minutes pass and no one. I go up to her and ask her how much longer. She said until one of them are done. I go back and sit down. This lady walks in and goes up to the receptionist ask for face wax. The receptionist said have a seat it will be around 30 minutes, the lady sat down. Cindy the technician comes up to the receptionist, made eye contact with me but didn't say hi or anything. I guess she was upset with me because ever since i had my nails done for my wedding i didn't go back to get them done. I was one of her regulars. So cindy asked her who wanted wax. The receptionist said her and her and pointed at us. She said, one wants lip and eyebrow the other one wants face. You know who went first, the face wax.  Why is that, because face wax is more money then lip and eyebrows. Who cares if i was waiting there for 30 min. The other person was going to give her more money. She just waited literally no longer then 5 minutes. This just made me so angry, and i will no longer go to COLOR NAILS on Richmond Hwy. Read Less

I went to this salon a total of 3 times. The first time Lei did my pedicure. I was a walk in close to closing so It was rushed but it still turned out very good so I went back to her again. 2nd time, I scheduled an appointment with her. I got a call from them 15 minutes before my appointment time saying Lei is running 30 minutes behind, which was OK; however, what wasn't OK, was when I arrived for the appointment, I STILL had to wait another 10 minutes before she finally started by pedicure...figured it was just a one off. The 3rd time was the final strike. I arrive for my scheduled appointment and waited 30 MINUTES with my feet just sitting in the pedicure tub water before finally deciding to get up and walk out. During my 30 minute wait, Lei never came to acknowledge I was there or advise how much longer she'd be. After I left, she, nor did anyone else from the salon, ever call me to apologize for the inconvenience or attempt reschedule my appointment. I would highly recommend NOT scheduling an appointment with Lei if you chose this salon, since walk ins seem to be priority. Also, the area where you get your eyebrows done has absolutely no privacy. Its just a chair in the middle of a busy hallway with technicians walking back and forth. If you're looking for a salon that has a nice private room for waxing, this is not the place. Finally, the prices are not competitive. There are several other nail salons within .5 miles with cheaper prices but with better service. Read Less

Ok.....don't get me wrong. This salon has been my favorite over the past 4 years. And my girl Cindy is THE BOMB!!!! But 2 weeks ago I went to get my nails done before my Mexico trip. I only get the SNS done. I saw a sign that said they no longer do acrylic nails...for health reasons I'm sure. No biggie, doesn't bother me since I don't get those. However, after getting my amazing SNS set, I  went to pay and realized I was charged an extra $5. When I inquired what the fee was for I was told the boss now charges $5 to have nail tips added. WTH!!! I looked around and saw no sign that made mention of this, nor was I told when I made my appointment weeks ago, or the day before when they gave me a courtesy call to confirm my appointment. Tacking on $5 isn't a "huuuuge" deal for some, but as a regular customer I expected better from this salon!!! $53 for nails is a lot!! I've been getting SNS nails for about 3-4 years now. So when moving from Dallas to DC I was nervous. I've been on the search to find the perfect nail tech to do my SNS. Please trust me when I say I've literally been EVERYWHERE in the DMV and no other shop has the selection of colors and skills as this shop. It's not as glamorous as the others (but also less expensive). The only thing I wish is that they offered a manicure and shoulder massage with the SNS. The price is reasonable for SNS for the area. The pedicures are decent as well; they even line the tubs with plastic bag!!!! All in all...one of my 2 go to in the city! Read Less

I am not happy with my experience here! I call and ask if i needed an appointment, the lady told me that i did not need one but she can put me down for that same day i called.  When i got there i had to wait 20 mins after i arrived. When my turn finally came i told the lady that i wanted SNS for the first time.  I decided on the color and she started doing it but kept talking about how she had another customer  waiting for her. She talked about the other customer until she finished with me.  The manager or owner was rude. The final result was messy and it does not look good at all. I have been Lisa's customer for almost 2 years. But she always had attitudes. Today I called color Bails asked for appointment. The lady on the phone asked me to hold the phone and after checking with Lisa, she gave me an appointment at 12. Five minutes later Lisa called me and asked me to come earlier. I was trying to explain her very politely that the lady who picked up the phone seemed to have checked with her so why they did not tell me that they can't see me at 12 in the first place. Surprisingly, Lisa hang up on me while I was talking!!! That is so rude! So disrespectful! I am so  disappointed and never go back there. Like most women I have been getting manicures for years. I didn't like the way gel and acrylic left the texture of my nails so I stopped it all together. One day I saw this lady and her fingernails were gorgeous! She told me about SNS. I looked on yelp and found Cindy. Of course I was reluctant but I thought I would give it a try. Cindy was gentle through the process and very thorough. When she was finished I looked at my nails and thought to myself, "This is the most beautiful manicure I have ever had in my life!" The strange thing about it, is that it is now 2 weeks old and I am still saying that!!! Cindy said it would last 3 weeks and I am pretty sure it will!! Everyone knows that about a week or two of using gel, it begins to lift around the edges tempting you to use your teeth to pull it off. SNS does NOT do this!  It really has been perfect. I am excited to see Cindy again and I have referred at least 6 of my clients to her since our last visit! So, I highly recommend Cindy and Color Nails! Read Less

Poor attention to detail, trying to rush and be lazy and not do a good job even when it is not busy!  You know the type of salon I am talking about...I schedule a manicure appt as a first time customer (hint hint...opportunity to get a new regular customer.)  The tech I get does not file my nails carefully, leaving rough edges.  I ask her to redo one that is really bad.  She tries to fix it by filing it with the paint and top coat on.  Wow, SUPER lazy!  Of course that is going to turn out horribly.  I ask politely to have it redone correctly.  She is very put out by this and proceeds to do a quick, sloppy job redoing my nail.  Lazy, lazy, lazy!  A professional salon does a good job on jobs small or large and tries to attract new business.  They were not busy and rushing was pure laziness.  No apology, just attitude.  It's one of those salons where you have to watch them like a hawk bc they are trying to put in the bare minimum effort to get paid and get you out the door.  This is a management problem to allow employees to act like this and thus I cannot recommend this salon. I initially came to the nail salon for almond shaped acrylic nails and the tech helped pick out the right color that perfectly matched my chocolate skin. she is sweet, funny, personable, and most importantly, attentive. Initially, I did have some issues with my nails although. They were incredibly thin and two had broken from merely picking up my laundry. So my hobbit feet were feeling a bit down and bedraggled, but my BF in Gandalf-like fashion had the solution .. Color Nails and a quick pedicure. Things were pretty magical with her favorite manicurist Andy giving her a mani/pedi with elf like precision. Of course, my experience was less involved than my bf's, but the pedicure still put a wonderful relaxing note on an otherwise rainy day. But hobbit feet do require extra care so perhaps that is my my manicurist approached the task like a Dwarven smith forging a mighty axe. There was much hammering and filing of my toesies to the point of much laughter. Yes, we hobbits are quite ticklish and my manicurist was merciless; however, a small price to pay foot perfection.
