I have been here over the years for manicures and pedicures, though I think they excel more at manicures than pedicures, for my taste. After having a stressful week at work, I decided to stop in on my day off and treat myself to a manicure. The only thing that went right was how well she shaped my nails and how cleaned up my cuticles look. No less than three times, I was asked if I wanted gel or shellac. I politely turned it down each time. Take a hint the first time when your client has already selected their nail polish color, and don't act annoyed because you didn't get the upsell. That's not proper salesmanship.The lady doing my nails wasn't interested in any sort of conversation (her phone came out and she ignored me while my nails dried), except for when she thought it was her place to ask me if I would like a wax when we were done, because I "really need it." I had noticed she seemed to keep glancing at me in distaste throughout the manicure, and I'm guessing that is why. I had a fully done-up face of makeup, my hair was properly groomed, and I was feeling happy about my appearance until this lady scrunched up her nose and fake smiled at me because she didn't approve of my brows or chin hairs. Which, I should point out are pretty blonde and not that visible unless you are full-on staring at me. Her comment was inappropriate and rude, and I didn't feel welcomed or appreciated in this nail salon. I especially didn't come here to be judged on my appearance.Their polish also seems old. Two nails were instantly smudged and had to be redone, keeping me here far longer than I had wanted. By the time I got out to my car, a third one was ruined. I promptly removed the polish when I got home and used a gel polish from my own collection. Obviously, I'm not coming back here. You really shouldn't go here, either. Read Less

I came in and I was seated right away for a pedicure. I was with two friends and there was only two nail techs there at the time but they were very efficient and I did not feel like they were rushing us even she more customers came in. The nail tech did a great job and my nails look so good! Very nice and attentive assistants. I will be coming back here because of the great service and awesome pedicure I got. Read Less

This place has improved so much! Their staff is so kind and the salon is sanitary. I hadn't been back there in awhile but it seems they have completely remodeled with the addition of new chairs and tables. The pedicure chairs even have liners in them now which is awesome! I would not recommend anyone coming here to get there eyelashes done!! I got mine done one week ago at California nails in south town mall and they have already fell out. I should have went to a more professional place cause I just wasted money on something that wasn't worth it. I'm really disappointed because I've gotten my eyelashes done here before but they lasted three and half weeks. Never coming to California nails and not trusting them to do my eyelashes. Read Less

Seriously horrifying  experience! My daughter and I came for pedicures. The guy that did mine seemed like he was not mentally all there and frankly just didn't seem like he knew what he was doing. He didn't cut my nails. Barely filed them and did a crappy job at sanding and painting. My daughters lady spoke no English and took instruction from another lady the whole time. She spent the whole time clipping her nails and repeatedly kept cutting her skin. She just didn't do the paraffin treatment to her. Seriously I could have done a better job myself!  Don't go here!!! I wish I could give 0 stars. Literally one of the worst experiences. The guy who did my pedicure wasn't exactly all there so throughout the whole process I felt bad saying anything. The water was freezing cold. I told him and he turned hot water on for maybe a few seconds. He followed this with pushing me on a 10$ up sale after I repeatedly said no. He had the hardest time cutting my nails and getting it underneath the nail to actually cut down. He finally gave up and didn't even cut them all. Then came the filing. He completely lacked fine motor skills. He couldn't shape the nail whatsoever and filed back and forth on just a few of my nails like a bandsaw. He completely missed a few steps on my right foot and didn't pumice my foot at all. When I asked him to do a bit more he went so hard that I had to ask him to stop, still leaving bits of dry skin just hanging off. Now I'm looking at my completely jagged nails with rough feet. That's a dirty trick having someone who's not capable of doing a good job work for you and charge a full price service. DO NOT GO HERE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY. Read Less

Older guy did my nails, paid for pink and white. It was thick and sloppy. Had to paint over it since all the lines were off. The worst part is they gave me an INFECTION! My sisters and mom came here and NONE of us are happy with how our toes turned out. I have 2 different shaped "hearts" (one of them looks more like a blob than a heart). They have smeared and chipped off and it hasn't even been 12 hours!! I don't understand why a heart and a few polka dots is soo hard of a design to do? I politely declined and asked for one of the lower packages but still had extras to it (paraffin wax, oil and massage, etc). The lady kept jumping from others back to me then had someone else finish my nails. My mom who asked for the same package only had one person work on her and she got the oil and massage while I didn't. When I brought this up as we were paying, the lady had the nerve to argue with me that she did massage me. All she did was rub lotion on my legs and feet for a minute. On top of that, my design was not even close to what I asked for. Very disappointed. Will NOT be returning! Don't waste your money! Read Less

Service was great, 5 stars, but it was freezing inside of the business!I've been coming to this location for 5 years, I enjoy the paraffin wax. It seems to have gone through several owners. I had a great experience at this salon!! I received a acrylic nail fill, pedicure and brow and lip wax. I really enjoy their company. They are friendly, have great prices and do amazing work with attention to detail. Jenny is very talented and always does a great job! She goes beyond what is expected. This place just sucks. They always cut my cuticle area EVERYTIME I've ever gone, whether from a simple manicure to acrylic nails. Now I have a $40 gift certificate from there and it's haunting me, anyone want it? I'm not in the mood to get my fingers cut or enjoy the terrible service. LOL :) Read Less

Back when California Nails had a location at Fashion Place Mall, they were my go-to place for pedicures. The FP location has since closed, and I am not impressed by the South Towne location. I've been twice - once for a gel manicure, once for a spa pedicure. I got the manicure on a busy day, and it felt like I was in and out in a ridiculously fast amount of time. The manicure was fine and lasted a few weeks without chipping. So I figured I'd try them again. This weekend I went in for the pedicure with a friend. We were the only two people in the shop, with 5 employees sitting around. We sat down at the pedi-chairs at the same time, but they started my pedicure 15 minutes after my friend. Although the massaging and treatments were nice and thorough, it took 90 minutes to finish up. That's way too long for a pedicure in my opinion. Plus, there was a huge column in between my chair and my friends, so we had to lean around it to see each other. The store was also pretty cluttered and employees were playing on their phones. With all of the really nice nail places in the area, I don't feel the need to come back to California Nails again. Read Less

Decided to come here because it was closer to my school and i was sick of seeing my naked nails. Walked in during my lunch break to get shellac. This place was very disorganized and cramped. I got shellac put on and the girl was very nice but super awkward. Once they were done, I didn't think they looked all that great but I got over it. Within a few hours they started chipping... I was very annoyed. I'm not the type of person to complain about things but I wish I had. I have had this shellac on a week and it looks like it's been on a month.
