I absolutely love this salon! I travel 2 and a half hours to have my hair cut by Emily. At my first visit with her, I had over 17 inches taken off and she was as excited as I was! I have had a fantastic experience with Unity Salon. From the bright and cheerful telephone greeting by the person who answered my call and suggested a stylist to me, to the receptionist who greeted me at my appointment with a drink, to my stylist: Emily. I had seven inches cut off my hair and Emily did exactly what I wanted and it ended up being even better than I envisioned. She's a great stylist and sweet as pie. Ever since I moved to Salt Lake City 5 years ago, I have not found a salon and stylist that I liked until I went to Unity Salon last year! I've had another appointment with them recently and they delivered the same great service! Vergie was very professional and was very good about giving me suggestions and options for my haircut. I had my hair cut by Marlie Laird.  I'm pretty picky about my hair because I'm Asian and not many hairdressers in Salt Lake know how to deal.  Marlie was very professional and creative.  After only a few questions, she got to work and gave me the greatest hair cut (per comments from co-workers).  I had previously told her I'm totally hair impaired and Marlie took that into account, giving me a trouble-free, contemporary look.  The salon itself aims for an industrial chic vibe.  They must be low on outlets because various hairdressers kept coming to Marlie's station to plug in their cell phones.  I would give Marlie a thumbs-up if you want ease, style and no hassle with your hair. I am a flight attendant and I was on a quick 15 hr layover downtown. I was in desperate need of a hair cut since I had been so busy my pixie had gotten out of control. Alright. I've been to a lot of salons, and Unity Salon is without a doubt ... The best! I was greeted with a glass of strawberry mint infused water.  It's modern and beautiful, and everyone is so friendly! I was introduced to my stylist Mackenzie, and we had an in-depth talk about my hair. I wasn't sure what I wanted today or what would look good to frame my face. Mackenzie seemed to speak my language. My hair turned out beautiful and better than I had ever hoped. Its been so long since I've been this happy with my hair. I can't stop touching it and playing with it.I've been wanting to get my hair colored, but haven't trusted the last few places I've been. After meeting Mackenzie and seeing what she could do for my hair,  I trust her with anything. I've already scheduled to come back in 2 weeks for balayage. A few years ago I had fairly long hair and chopped it all of to a pixie cut. When I decided to grow it out again, Crystal helped me to get through the awkward phase of growing out short hair. She has stayed by my side through the mullet phase, the shag phase, and even now that I'm reaching long bob status. She is amazing and I love going to Unity Salon. DON'T BOOK WITH LACEY! SHE DOESN'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS! My friend recommended this place to me so I called on Dec 28th and booked an appointment with Lacey for Feb 11th. I was going on vacation in a few weeks and was hoping to get my hair re-dyed before then but that was the earliest Lacey was available so I decided to wait for her since she was so highly recommended. Unfortunately, 4 weeks later on Jan 25th, while I was on my vacation, I got a call from the salon saying that Lacey was actually not accepting new clients unless it was a referral. I gave the name of my friend and was told that they would check with Lacey. Later that day I got another call saying Lacey just wasn't accepting any new clients, referrals or not. Obviously, I was very disappointed. If Lacey didn't want new clients, that's fine, but don't wait 4 weeks to tell me! I could have just booked with someone else before my vacation if I had been informed of this sooner. The manager was sympathetic but didn't offer any solutions. She just said that Lacey rents a booth from them so she's not held accountable by the salon and didn't inform them until a few days ago that she wasn't accepting new clients. Again, I can understand that she doesn't want new clients, but not honoring appointments made before this decision isn't very professional. Read Less

I have been to Unity Salon a number of times and every time has been an absolute treat. They offer you a complementary beverage upon check-in, the waiting area is pleasant and always clean and tidy. They also have a wide variety of products to purchase at a decent price. My stylist, Crystal, has done an AMAZING job on my hair. Crystal ROCKS!!! She is not only crazy talented in her skill set but also in her ability to transform your whole look with limited direction. Oh. My. Gosh. Shane at Unity is a miracle-worker. I am so happy right now! I have always been hair-proud, and my hair was halfway down my back and beautifully curly. It was gorgeous... until disaster struck. I had the flu and spent a week in bed, and my amazing hair ended up in the world's biggest mat. It was awful-- bigger than my fist and not budging, even though I tried everything. As trivial as it sounds, the situation was incredibly stressful and I was at wit's end. Enter Shane. I finally decided to cut it all off, but I was so nervous because I didn't have a salon or a stylist I trusted in Utah. After tons of research, I visited Unity's website, and they were able to schedule me within a few days. (I LOVE that I could book my appointment online!) The big day arrived, and I visited the salon for the first time. What a gorgeous little space! It's right in the heart of downtown and such a cozy, stylish environment. Parking is ample behind the building. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, and Shane was a delight. He was understandably taken aback by the enormous mat consuming my head, but he handled the situation so professionally and really put me at ease. Shane was easy to talk to and we got along great, which is so important to me. And he worked a loaves-and-fishes level miracle on my hair!! I had a couple of ideas, but left the execution to the professional, and he did a fantastic job. I didn't have to go nearly as short as I thought I would, and he blended the short section that remained after the mat beautifully. I ended up with the exact cut I would have chosen even if I didn't have to cut it at all! Seriously-- it's gorgeous! He really honored my hair type, lifestyle, and personality, and I ended up with a perfect cut. I am in love. They are all very nice, clean salon & offer an array of complementary refreshments to choose from. I came in with pictures of what I wanted, explained that I will need a low maintenance coloring, so we went with the "Balayage". Due to the fact that I will be away for a few months, I explained that I wanted the blonde to go up higher close to the roots. It was suppose to be & I was assured it would have been a smooth transition. You can verify it for yourself in the pictures I uploaded to see the finished product. When it was time to blow dry my hair, I see she was simply tossing my hair with her fingers under the blow dryer, never picking up a brush to blow dry my hair. I have never in my life seen a professional in a salon not use a round brush to blow dry hair. Long story short, I wasn't happy with the results & the colorist told me to come in tomorrow morning to fix it. After 10 mins of walking out of the salon, I was called from the salon & they left me a message stating they are not the right salon for me. Basically stating do not come in tomorrow, we can't help you. After my experience with this salon, it is safe to assume this is an establishment where they do not assume responsibility for the services they perform. Read Less

I've been following Kierstin around for years, and I love that she works at Unity Salon now. The salon is kept very clean, and has a relaxed vibe. Kierstin's prices are unbeatable and she knows her stuff. Besides that, she is a sweetheart and damn funny! The owners are lovely people and very personable. I am greeted by name every time I walk through the door, and always offered something to drink. They carry my favorite hair products line "Kevin Murphy" and they also carry Kierstin's skin care line "Refined Benefit". Lacey is the bomb! She has such a great personality. I have a ridiculous amount of hair on my head and it requires so much work in order to keep it the way I like it. She is so patient and pleasant and always makes sure I am happy. Even if I keep sending her back in there with those shears! She does exactly what I ask instead of what she thinks should be done. Brought my 18 yr old son here for a nice haircut. He was taken care of by Shane, while I waited in the very comfortable waiting area.  When he emerged about 45 minutes later, I hardly recognized him.  He looks so awesome!The price was quite good.  The son argued with me about spending $$ (typically I cut his hair), but after seeing what a handsome cut he got, there were no more arguments.
