Went to Melissa...she is amazing!  I had reddish hair with blond highlights and major roots, I told her I wanted to match my root color in an all over dye to make my hair easier to grow out and lower maintenance.  Melissa magically did that and more, she matched my root but kept out pieces of blonde blending it all together flawlessly so it still has a lot of dimension.  She gave me what I was asking for times a million.  The cut is great and fresh too.  Highly recommend her. I sent my mother in law and my wife in for her birthday to get a spa queen manicure service. We have a little child and as most parents know, it's tough to peel away on time when prepping the baby for a sitter. They ended up arriving 10 minutes late and decided to take it out on my mother in law. My mother in law immediately was told in a unprofessional and rude way that, "we will not be doing a queen service, because you are late." First off, 10 minutes late and you force the customer to alter the service they have requested? Fine, I get it, but you don't need to berate a customer. You could have said upon check in, "I'm so sorry, but it looks like we are going to be a little short on time to do the full service, would it be ok if we focused on just your nails today? It will be cheaper and allow us to not rush your manicure" Needless to say, my mother in law does not ever want to go back, and my wife is incredibly disappointed that she did not enjoy her birthday gift due to the horrible way that she was treated. I've gotten my hair done several times by Melissa Barfield, and she is amazing! Good with short funky haircuts and whatever color I've ever wanted (pastels, bleach blond, bright purple, and natural hi-lights, depending on the month). Honestly the best salon experience I've had in Utah! Monique waxed my eyebrows, did a Shellac manicure, and a pedicure for me today and it was awesome. I love how my feet look and feel, my nails look amazing and for once it didn't hurt when my eyebrows were done. She was fun to talk to and she did an excellent job on everything! As someone new to SLC and makes it a point to spend my money at locally owned businesses I was pretty upset when I walked in to make a return on unopened/unused products and told I can only receive store credit. While I understand that you're a local business but I specifically said, "I'll take it today but I want to double check with my hairdresser about it." And her response is "Great, you can always return it if it doesn't work." Then when I go back to return it, I  expect to receive a return. In addition, no where in the store, at least that I could find, did I see their "no return" policy posted. Buyer beware. Read Less

Got Beauty is full of all things girly I am a big fan of this adorable salon/shop! I buy my Moroccanoil shampoo and conditioner here in the big bottles with pumps. It's the only local place I've found them! I am always skeptical to order shampoo off of amazon because it could be fake. This is the perfect place to buy a gift for any girl! They have everything from candles to jewelry to all things beauty. I especially love the POP! Cosmetics lip liners they carry (I've never seen them anywhere else). They also have a lot of random things for sale like quirky salt and pepper shakers and cute coffee cups. Once I was being a total idiot and knocked a candle off of the shelf. I was mortified and kept repeating how I am so sorry and so happy to pay for it! All the girls were so nice and didn't even let me help clean it up because they didn't want me to get cut. I always want to buy everything I see in this place (and my credit card statement sometimes reflects that). You'll pay more for items, but it's a boutique and that's to be expected. The selection is fantastic. Cute, fun items that you can get as gifts (to yourself counts, too) and a wide offering of hair products, with nail polish some makeup products as well. People may base their first impressions that Got Beauty is an high-end expensive, maybe pretentious salon. I say this, b/c that's what I used to think until I went in one day. On an outing with my mother one day several years ago, we went inside. Upon entering the the store, the smells, the decor, and funky design seemed magical. I, of course, inquired about their services. Within a couple weeks I made a "Just for me" day. I got a facial, mani and pedi, and my hair done! It... was so nice, and friendly. After that, I was hooked. I always went back to them for the same services time and time again (not all at once). Everyone is still very sweet, no matter how long it's been and infrequent my visits may be, they ALWAYS remember me by my name! Their products, make up and skin care products especially, is very high quality, probably more so then some the more expensive brands in the dept. stores. Plus very reasonably priced, I've actually gotten make up cheaper or at the same price as grocery store brands, that are higher quality , and yet again, cruelty free, organic, made from recycled materials, all depending on the brands, of course. My hair always turns out great going there, and I'm pretty picky about who and where I get my hair cut from. I really love the haircut I got here last weekend. It was my first time in the salon and it was a really pleasant atmosphere. I felt secure in the service from the beginning when we started with a good consultation. The shampoo and conditioner they use smells amazing and the whole appointment took less than and hour! They have a boutique that has a Francesca's vibe. It's a great selection of little gifts that would be perfect stocking stuffers! 4 stars because they are kind, quick and talented. Would love to have brighter lighting in the salon though. Lighting currently casts shadows and leaves it feeling a bit like a cave in an otherwise wonderfully cheery place! Read Less

I have thick hair, I know it needs attentiveness to cut and blend. And unfortunately the haircut I received from Alisia failed to do just that. I brought pictures of the cut I wanted, one that I used to have, I showed them to her. But the finished result doesn't match up at all.  It's too short, in all the wrong places. It's unflattering to my face, and I feel so unattractive with it.Initially, I was wary, but then she curled and styled it, and I thought I must've been imagining things because it looked fine... Until I washed it at home, and now I can see all the blunt layers, and the finished length.  I'm so sad, but not much you can do with hair that's already too short. Just cry, and wait. Read Less

This is my favorite place for a pedicure. I won't go anywhere else. It's clean and Sasha is the best nail technician. She takes her time, is personable and really exfoliates calluses. I called a few days ahead to make an appointment to get my hair styled for an event I had coming up that Friday.  I tried to describe over the phone what I had in mind, but even to my own earholes I sounded mentally deficient.  The gal on the phone assured my addled little head that my stylist would do a great job. I arrived prepared with a few different pictures of what I wanted.  My stylist (Cassie? I should eat a banquet of dicks for forgetting her name) was amazing.  She listened to what I liked and didn't like about each picture and morphed my mop into exactly what I had imagined.  Lots of volume up front melding into a faux mohawk-braid with the sides slicked down and it all wrapped up in a low ponytail.  She styled it for me that morning and I'm pretty sure I could have slept on it and it wouldn't have moved.  I couldn't have been happier. She is so delightful and chill and my hair and nails have seriously never looked better. Jen Kendall had planned a birthday beauty day for her 5 year old niece and three others. Jen had everything planned down to the minute and made those little ladies day unforgettable, not only for the children but for those of us who chose to tag along. She gave the littles a gift bag to fill with nail polishes (2) of their choosing, lip gloss, and several other items, all their choices and the grins on those little faces as they left after three hours of being pampered, could not be wiped off their faces for hours. The store part of Got Beauty gets five stars--staff always greet you as you walk in the door and are friendly and helpful. However, the stylist that I went to there is maybe one star. One or two haircuts that I got from Patty were decent, but the rest were mediocre, and she was consistently 20 to 30 minutes late for each of my appointments because she was so busy socializing with the client ahead of me. It's good that she likes people, but stylists should stay on schedule and socialize outside of work instead of making on-time clients wait while they talk, laugh and leisurely work on the person ahead of you. I sat and watched this happen so many times while waiting for my hair cut that I finally gave up and went elsewhere. A couple of months after I gave up on Patty, I was looking at nail polish in Got Beauty. A guy came in, said he had an appointment with Patty and sat down in her chair to wait for her to get there. This is a cool retail store in front with tons of girly-oriented merchandise to keep you busy for hours. Stuff not seen in other SLC stores and even some fun risque items for bridal showers. So if you're shy you can stay out of Blue Boutique! Great job up front. The salon in back, however is a different story. It seems like an afterthought. A couple of cramped stations, some nail techs. Although the staff asked me several times if I wanted a latte, no one asked me if I wanted a seat. That's right, no apparent waiting area for salon customers!! Hot tip to ALL salons: my barista and my stylist should not even be in the same zip code. Aside from offering me a (sealed) bottle of water, stay out of food prep, PLEASE! Move the nail techs upstairs to the balcony, add some seats, and either do a better job at playing salon or get out of the business. Remind the stylists that clients are not deaf, and that even though the catty remarks are aimed at each other and not us, we can still hear them. Did I mention the haircut was awful?? i went in trying to find some white or very light coloured foundation - they were sold out. i then asked for a white face powder. i was sold a white eyeshadow [i wasn't told it was eyeshadow] for $13. when i got home and realized it was eyeshadow, i returned it. store policy only offers an exchange or gift certificate. so now i'm trying to figure out what i can buy for $13 that i'll actually use. $13 for a container of eyeshadow is crazy. you can buy a lot of the same brands [i checked out palladio specifically] for much cheaper at sally's. sure, sally's doesn't have the fu-fu atmosphere but frankly, i can do without it. i thought the attitude overall was pretty snotty. while i 1st thought the service was great when i realized i had eyeshadow instead of face powder, i felt like they'd do anything for a sale. discovering a neighborhood find is one of my favorite things. this local store is a guilty pleasure. i get my hair cut there, i buy my gifts there because when i don't know what to buy, the workers always help me pick the right thing for the occassion. i even get a manicure and pedicure with my wife there. i am happy to see that got beauty has been noticed. it is hard to find a ma and pa store these days that not only competes with, but out does the national chains. i hope they continue to the give the great customer service and provide the funky atmosphere as they get more well known. i would suggest shelly or patty for hair to anyone. i also like that i can call and they will put together gifts for clients etc. and have them ready for me or delivered on short notice. got beauty is a welcome relief from a world of strip malls and chain stores. they also made me discover city search by telling me about voting, and now i am addicted. i need to go now and find a good place to take some clients this weekend.
