I am a little horrified about my experience with TJ Nails. In fact, I have waited 3 weeks to write this review, but in the end, after speaking to other nail professionals, I decided I must.I had an appointment with TJ Nails on 12/28 at 12:30PM for a mani/pedi. I arrived at 12:20 and was told by someone that the person my appointment was with hadn't arrived yet. I replied that it was fine since I was 10 minutes early. I picked out a color and waited. At 12:27, a lady came rushing into the salon, asked me very abruptly if I was her 12:30 and I replied yes. She walked over to one of the pedicure chairs, turned on the water and told me to come sit down. She then walked in the back. (That is the last I saw of her.) I sat down and soaked my feet for 20 minutes, waiting for my pedicurist to come back. Meanwhile there were 2 employees working-one doing a manicure and one doing a pedicure next to me. At 12:47 I asked the employee next to me if the person I had the appointment with was coming back. She looked confused and said yes. The other employee giving the manicure said to me-in a rather nasty tone-that I needed to give the person I was waiting on a couple of minutes. I replied that I had been waiting 20 minutes. She then asked-are you in a hurry? And I replied-Yes. I have a plane to catch in a few hours. The two employees then proceeded to have a conversation in their native tongue while casting looks over at me.Eventually, the employee giving the pedicure next to me finished and scooted over to me and started working on my feet. I am not going to lie-I have a couple of yellow toenails on one foot. However, I get regular (every 2 weeks) pedicures in the Summer and in the Winter I have them done about every 6 weeks so I know how pedicures work. She started working on my big toe and ended up ripping off part of my cuticle. I was bleeding quite a lot. She blotted it with a towel and then applied straight alcohol to it-without warning me first. She seemed confused when I told her that it hurt. She then proceeded to do the same thing to my 3rd toe. By this time, I was in quite a lot of pain. After she finished her torture of my nail cuticles, she started using the pedicure item that "shaves" off the dead skin on your feet. Everything was going along fine, until she got to the right side of my foot. She then proceeded to gash open my foot from my little toe to my heel. I was bleeding so bad that the towel she put on it to stop the bleeding, turned red. She then grabbed a bottle of some sort of foot refresher and slathered it all over my foot. It was basically pure alcohol and I screamed and ripped my foot out of her hand and placed it back in the water to stop the burning. At that point, the other lady had finished with her manicure and came over to help. She started lecturing the employee giving me a pedicure and telling her that she had to be gentle with feet. The 2nd lady then started giving me a manicure. I asked her to shape my nails into an oval-but she didn't listen and shaped them into a square instead. At this point, I was just hoping to get out of there without losing any more blood. Eventually, the employee working on my feet, got out a pair of "tweezers" and started pinching extra cuticles off. She started on the bleeding area of my big toe and when I said "ow" again, the 2nd employee lectured her again and sent her away. I finished my mani/pedi without losing more blood, getting cut or hurt anymore. The next day-my step mother-who recommended this place to me because she was a customer-went in to see them and ask them what had happened. The employees got very defensive and told her it was my fault because I had a couple of yellow toenails. My step-mother ended up leaving and taking her business elsewhere. My nail polish started chipping almost immediately-probably because they didn't use a base coat. Also, both of my big toes now have ingrown toenails because of how they cut my nails during the pedicure. I had a horrible experience with TJ Nails and would never recommend them to anyone. Read Less
