LITERALLY THE WORST PEDICURE I’VE EVER HAD! Wish I could give them 0 stars! I came in with relatively long toenails because I didn’t want them to be cut too short. The lady doing my toes butchered the cutting and left me with very visibly crooked toenails, especially on one of my big toes. She didn’t seem to see what the problem was, but I insisted that there was an obvious issue and then two other men came over to see what I was fussing about. The one man immediately saw how badly and crooked my big toe was. He offered to put acrylics on my toe to make it longer and match my other big toe. I said no to that and sat there for 15 minutes dictating to him where he needed to cut and file my toes to make them even. He thought one or two passes of the nail file would make me happy, but what I wanted was for all of my toes to be evenly cut and generally the same shape (some were square, others were rounded and then there was the crookedly cut nails...). I have never had to do that before in my life so I was surprised that I was the one telling them every cut and file they should make. The lady who originally cut my nails didn’t speak a word of English so she had no idea what was going on. I had high hopes for this place because it was recommended by two of my friends but this nail salon is a dump. My chair was broken, including where you rest your feet. The foot rest came off several times during the pedicure and the lady just smiled nervously and put the piece back on the chair. It was extremely uncomfortable to have to balance my feet on the foot rest in an unnatural way just to keep it from falling off (And I was there for two hours, so you can imagine how uncomfortable I was). Plus, the woman who got her toes done before me by the same lady came back to the salon three times after she left to have her toes fixed. So my pedicure lady dropped everything when the customer came back in each time and left me sitting there mid pedicure for several minutes at a time. When I got up to pay I told the guy (who was one of the ones fixing my toes) that it was the worst pedicure I had ever had and all he said was “sorry”, swiped my card and walked away. My daughter brought me here for a girls time and it was AMAZING to say the least. I was given the best pedicure ever. It felt so wonderful. Even though they were super busy they didn't rush the process. I left there feeling super!! I definitely recommend getting an appointment if you plan on going as they seem to be filled all the time. The prices are very comparable with other places, but because they are so friendly and do such amazing work the cost is so worth it. I had very high hopes for this place due to the good reviews, but the only good thing about coming here was that I didn't have to wait since I had made an appointment. The guy that did my nails was in a rush the whole time, I asked for a coffin tip and in the end they were all crooked. I had an appointment and was seated almost immediately for my mani & pedi. But they had SO many customers waiting. Granted, it was a Saturday morning. But because they felt rushed they didn't take the time to give me a relaxing service, which is what I was hoping for at 39 weeks pregnant. It all felt rushed and anxiety inducing. There was also a point during the pedicure where I felt like the tech might draw blood with how hard she was scrubbing the tender arch of my foot. And the manicure was virtually non-existent. I have enjoyed this place in the past but today I found that it was dirty (not sanitary) and the ladies kept trying to convince us to get shellac "only $6 more!" and in the end convinced my mother in law (not from USA) to change her chosen nail color (only available in gel). She was not happy when I came back from drying my nails and found out and told her what had happened. She had to pay $12 more for something she had explicitly said she did not want to pay for. Whenever I've gone even during their busiest times they do their best to get me in as fast as they can, and then they take their time to make sure they do a good job on my nails. Great place to get your nails done. The service is kind and the finished result, clean and professional. The wait can get long so call ahead to make your appointment. Sometimes they seem to overbook themselves but if you call ahead this doesn't seem to be to big of a problem. Read Less

I came to this salon to fix nails from another salon and I had such a frustrating experience. When I came in I had a guy assist me, he did not listen to me at all to what I needed him to do. He cut me off and ignored everything I was saying. When he was finished he straightened one nail and left the others in different shapes, if he had listened he would have known what I was looking for into the visit. Essence is the best nail salon I've been to in Utah, and I've been to a lot! Their pedicures are amazing and prices are unbeatable. I tell all my friends about how great they are. I get shellac nails done about twice a month and I love that the nail techs here take their time to do a good job. I have found that my shellac lasts longer when I go to Essence as well. I highly suggest this nail salon because the quality and price is unbeatable! I really hope they don't raise their prices like most salons. I used to love coming here! It was my Monthly getaway from my kids! I get gel nails and a pedicure every time I come! I introduced this place to my Nieghbor and my best friend. After 72hours 3 nails were chipped and I called right away to make an appointment to see if I could get them fixed. They said no problem when I called and scheduled me an appointment. When I arrived it was a completely different feeling. They made me feel uncomfortable and couldn't find the same color and said it fades after a day or two. It took a lady away from doing someone else's nails even though I made an appointment and made the other lady getting her nails done irritated that I was taking away from her time.  So right now I have three nails that are completely different color from the rest. I'm sad, because I really did like this place but don't know if I would ever be comfortable coming back after leaving with tears. Read Less

Decent pedicure, nice people, but filthy salon! And I mean filthy! The floors don't appear to have ever been cleaned, take a look behind the pedicure chairs . And the bathroom?!!!! Makes you wonder how clean/sterile their instruments could be. Read Less

I read all the bad reviews and let my friend talk me into going anyway. This place is terrible. Their customer service sucks and I had to go back twice for 5 repairs on my gel manicure. I've NEVER had such a bad experience with gels and I've lived all over the US. I've also never written a bad review for anyone. I just went in for my last repair there ever and they were so rude to me. The girl got up 6 times during my appointment and just left me sitting there with wet gels on. I went to essence to take my grandma to get her nails done. My first complaint is the wait time. We had a 2pm appointment but didn't end up being seen until after 3. We sat there waiting for OVER AN HOUR and there was no communication between staff and us. My second complain is how rude the staff were to my grandma. The staff made me speak for my grandma. Ex: the lady asked me how short my grandma wanted her nails done. My grandma is wheelchair bound but is more than capable to speak for herself. That made me very angry and that kept happening. They turned to me to answer for my grandma the one actually getting her nails done the entire appointment. It was very rude. I wouldn't suggest getting your nails done here. Really like the atmosphere and they do a great job with gel manicure. My nails lasted 3 weeks before chipping. I've also had a spa pedicure before and it was lovely. They use scrub and massage with lotion. The price is a couple dollars more than other locations in Provo/ Orem but it's worth it. Read Less

My sisters and I made appointments here for 2 pm- for my future sister in laws wedding- I got off work early to make the appointment. Got there in time- I was waiting for over an hour! And they were helping people that were just walk ins that came in after me!! I finally left at 3:45 pm and just went to my normal nail place. So sad. They used to be my go-to in Provo, but the last four times I've been there it's been progressively worse. Tonight made me vow to never go back for two reasons: 1) the quality of the work and 2) the rudeness of the tech. My nails are cut much too short (no white visible on two of them), unevenly trimmed, and asymmetrically filed. I requested a buff, no polish manicure and the tech literally had no idea what I was talking about.Which is the second problem. He persisted on selling a gel manicure. When I consistently answered that I didn't want a gel manicure, a french gel manicure, or a gel manicure (seriously), he informed me that I was difficult to work with. They are fast and efficient.  Their pedicures are my favorite.  A few times the paint job hasn't been the best but the actual pedicure is dreamy!  Fabulous massage and great job with trimming and prepping nails and feet.  Gel nails are awesome too.  I wish they had more color choices but the ones they have are lovely. I have been going to this place off and on for awhile now. I really have loved how nice the girls are, but I feel like they've become so popular the wait time is ridiculous. Even if you have an appointment, it is very likely you will be waiting for 30 minutes at least before they even start. Read Less

The facility is clean and they do quick work, along with being personable, but they used old nail files on both my friend and me, which is illegal and against code. While I love how my nails look, I won't return because of that. They either need to use fresh files between customers (what if she'd used it on someone's feet before my hands?) or glass files that can be disinfected. Read Less

Found this place on Yelp and read the bad reviews, so I walked in a little bit on guard. I read that the staff was unfriendly, but when I got there they were no more unfriendly than any other nail salon. I mean, they are Asian here and it's just not their culture to be like "HEY! SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE!"They paired me with a man, Nick, when I was very on guard about that but he did a good job. They are a little bit pricey and I say that based on the fact that a gel manicure was $2 more than what I paid in California. Given that cost of maintaining a business is much lower here, that seems a bit pricey to me.All-in-all it was a good little salon, the biggest complaint I had was that the hand massage was very short. So, if you just want to get your nails done, go here.The environment is relaxing and they will get you done quickly. If you want an experience, maybe not as much. Read Less
